Chapter 12: Meeting the Staff
After a very successful meeting with Albus and Minerva, Harry spent some time with them alone. Ginny needed to go see her mum for some one on one time. Harry thought she needed to talk about the contraceptive potion, but she refused to share thru the bond why she was going. So Harry spent time talking about the school and Albus and Minerva's life before they started teaching.
Harry learned that Minerva was actually the leader of the Clan McGonagall, the magical members of the Scottish Highlanders. Besides Aberforth, Albus was the last of the Dumbledore family. They dated all the way back to the time of Merlin. Dumbledore even admitted that he is descended from Merlin though he never admitted it publicly. After another hour of pleasant conversation Harry decided that he wanted to hit the skies and so summoned his Firebolt and took off from balcony towards the Quidditch Pitch.

While Harry was speaking to Albus and Minerva, Ginny was heading to speak to her Mum, Tonks, Hermione, Luna, and Mrs. Longbottom. Since she was married to Harry now, there are certain duties she must attend to as Lady Potter and since she had no idea what she was supposed to do, so she needed to talk to those people who knew. She found the four women sitting in the Great Hall, by the looks of things, they were waiting for her.
Tonks spotted her first "Wotcher Ginny!" Ginny eyed the other women; her mum looked somewhat hesitant, 'Yep, they were waiting for me.'
"So I take it by your faces that you know why I want to see all of you." The women all looked around as if there had been someone spying on them.
Finally Mrs. Longbottom spoke up, "Miss—I'm sorry, Mrs. Potter, as you may know, as Harry's wife, you now have many formal duties ad responsibilities. As I have spoken to your mother, I have discovered that have been well versed in many of our customs and traditions, though you have never realized it. Since Mr. Potter is not just head of the Potter Family, but the head of the Black Family and the High Lord of Hogwarts, Miss Tonks will be joining us, since she is a member of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black."
Luna took the opportunity to pipe into the conversation, "Hermione and I are here because we are dating Neville and Ron and we need to learn as well."
"However, unless something drastic happens, I will have to worry about married to the Head of the Weasley Family." Hermione blushed scarlet as she said this. Ron and her had talked about it and they both knew there was no one else for them but each other. Ginny nodded and for the next few hours the four women discussed what it meant to the lady of a house. During this time, Augusta and Molly explained how the older families had done things, including the men having mistresses and other Pureblood fanatical beliefs, and how many of the more modern members of those families, starting with Ron's, Neville's, and Harry's grandparents and parents were less Victorian and more modern, at least in muggle terms.
Adultery was not allowed by either men or the women; the belief of pureblood supremacy was tossed aside. One thing all three families believed in, and still do, is that family members treat themselves and others with respect and dignity and that anyone who wished to marry into the family must meet these same basic requirements; beyond that, there was no blood requirement.
After what felt like ages, Ginny left the other women and headed outside to get some fresh air. She was walking towards the Quidditch pitch when she saw Harry streaking around the castle on his Firebolt. He dipped low and grabbed her at full speed, carrying her back into the air. The both laughed the whole time as they circled the castle until it was almost dinner time.

Dinner was served in the Great Hall that night. The round table had been expanded to hold everyone who staying in the castle plus the professors who went home for the summer. Harry and Ginny decided to keep a low profile during dinner and spoke to Ron and Hermione mostly about Quidditch and OWL results; finally after dinner finished, Albus asked the entire staff to assemble in the staff room on the fourth floor.
The staff meetings normally happened in the staff room on the third floor, the fourth floor meeting room was a lecture room. As the professors left the Great Hall, no one noticed Harry and Ginny quietly slipping out the side door.
Once the staff was sitting down, Albus sat down as well. Many of the staff was surprised at this, normally a summer meeting would be run by the headmaster. As the voice level continued to rise, the door opened and two figures walked in.
The first person, a man, was wearing some of the finest robes any of them had very seen. They looked as if they were made from Acromantula Silk and were died deep red with Gold trim. Over the robes this stranger wore a black traveling cloak with a crest over the heart of the wearer. Everyone immediately saw it was the Hogwarts Crest in full color; it was stitched over two other crests, both in of which were silver. These crests were the crests of the Potter and Black families.
The second person, possibly a woman, was wearing the matching robes to the first figure except that hers were gold with deep red trim. Over her robes she wore another black traveling cloak with the Hogwarts Crest in full color, underneath it, just like the other person's, were three more crests, the Weasley, Potter and Black families. Both hooded figures carried themselves in way that made many think of true royalty. They reached the podium in front of the assembled professors and removed their traveling cloaks; they were Harry and Ginny Potter.
After escorting his wife to her chair, Harry returned to the podium and addressed the assembled room, "Good evening and thank you for coming tonight. There is a lot of information that I must relate, so please hold your questions until I have finished with each main topic. Now, before I continue I would like to welcome the current residents of Hogwarts to join us."
With a wave of his wand, the door opened and everyone who was staring in the castle walked in: The Weasleys, Fleur Delacour, Penelope Clearwater, Hermione, Neville and his grandmother, Luna, all the ghost including Peeves, Dobby, Winky, and five other house elves.
"Now that everyone is here, please allow me to introduce myself, I am Lord Gryffindor, Harry James Potter, High Lord of Hogwarts. Now, what does this have to do with all of you? Well to be blunt, I am now the owner of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and your boss. So I have decided that changes are in order. Firstly, the Board of Governors is no more. As I'm sure many people have heard, Minister Fudge and members of the board have accused me of using dark magic, I will this one time, and one time only I have not used dark magic to claim this school. Anyone who believes that may leave right now."
No one left the room; everyone was staring at him though. "Good, now that we are on the same page, I want to explain to everyone what is going to happen over the summer and next school year. Firstly, as of 12 noon today, two battalions of goblins have arrived here. Their mission will be the protection of Hogwarts, her grounds, and those who live within these walls. All muggleborn, halfblood, and other sensitive parties are being protected, courtesy of Hogwarts. Now to the castle itself; there will be a number of improvements happening this summer, courtesy of the goblins that helped build the castle. We will be doing the following things…"
At Harry's nod, Ginny waved her wand and a large parchment appeared on the wall behind Harry. "As you can see this is just the improvements for the school, there is a lot more to go. Let us start up the top of the list:

Harry spent the next twenty minutes going over in detail what all the improvements would mean to the school and why they were being done.
Finally Harry moved onto staff appointments, "Now, some people in this room I thought would no longer be needed, but after talking with the Headmaster and the Deputy Headmistress, I am pleased to say everyone will be remaining in their current jobs with the exceptions of Mr. Filch and Professor Burbage. Argus Filch, you are hereby relieved of your duties as the sole caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You are now the Senior Caretaker for the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please see me after the meeting and I will explain in detail what your new job entails, congratulations.
"Charity Burbage, for the next one year, starting in September, will be on sabbatical so that she can live among muggles and learn more about them. I look forward to seeing some great things from you. So here is a list of the new staff for next year. You will notice there are some vacancies, if you know anyone who can fill them, please let Albus know." Harry then nodded to Ginny, who waved her wand and another parchment appeared on the wall.
