hey guys so here is another chapter, this is mostly based on 2x17 with some original scenes for you. I know in a review that someone asked for Juliette to meet Mia so that will feature in the next chapter and I promise you will not be disappointed. chapter 3: ghost
It had been a few day since Nick can came Mia apartment to convince her to give them a chance which had turned out really well for him considering he had stayed the night with her. In the morning they discussed the ins and out of their relationship and decided that they would become a couple then deal with anyone who had an issue with them, whether it was their parents or the council or even the reapers. Rosalee had asked Mia to run the shop for her one Saturday while she was at Jury duty and Monroe was at home repairing a clock, she had kindly accepted since she was off work and Nick has been called in to discuss at a shooting. She decided to wear a blue washed tank, light blue jeans and blue suede ankle boots. She had left her hair naturally wavy but had decided to brush out her waves to give it a slightly messy look, she went with simple brown smokey eyes and bright pink lip gloss. Mia was sitting at the counter wearing her glasses as she read one of favourite childhood books which was Alice in Wonderland when Nick came in
" Hey you, if you're looking for Monroe or Rosalee then they aren't here but if you're looking for me then I'm all yours " She said closing her book as he walked up to the counter and leaned across the other side so that they closer
"I like the sound of that... hey do you think that you could close the shop for a while, I want to show you something" he said giving her a small kiss as a form of hello before continuing, every time he kissed her it felt like a breathe of fresh air
" yeah I think I could but only for a while, is everything ok?" she said wondering whether or not it was a good something or a bad thing that he wanted to show her, so far things between them were good
"yeah I want to show you my Aunt Marie's trailer, it has all grimm related things in like her books and weapons and even some potion type things" he said as she grabbed her dark grey hooded cardigan and her grey slouch bag as she texted Rosalee to tell her what was going
"Wait Aunt Marie? as in Marie Kessler? I'm pretty sure she might have killed a few of the blutbads in my community, she was the scary story around the camp fire" she said remembering her mother warned her that a grimm would come for her if she didn't behave
" well to me as a child she was fun Aunt Marie who would melt marshmallows with me and make smores" he said laughing at how different things were for them, he never knew this other side of his Aunt or mother
They took Nick's car since he was the one that knew where they going and was the one that had planned this impulsive truth session, on the outside he appeared to be calm and collected. However inside he was a mess since the last girl he took to the trailer completed freaked before falling into a coma and forgetting who he was, to the say the least it didn't end well. He knew Mia was different since none of this was new to her as she had grown up surrounded by all things wesen but he wondered what her reaction would to be the more typical side of the grimm lifestyle like the large collection of weapons he had. Finally they arrived at the junkyard where the trailer was being kept for safe keeping, being the gentleman he was he rushed to open her door for her as they headed inside the trailer. Mia took a minute to look around, trying to absorb the different items as she flicked through books and the different pictures of various wesens. Soon she came to the cupboard where they weapons were being kept.
" oh wow so these are... Oh god... have you used any of these?" she asked as thoughts began to run through her head such as how many of her family members had been killed by one of these weapons
"a couple but I've used them when my gun was useless and all of the people I used them on were bad people Mia" he said hoping she wasn't about to walk out of his life like Juliette had
"and you wouldn't kill any of us simple because we are wesen? I mean we aren't all bad, we make mistakes but so do humans and no one kills them off just because" she said rambling slightly as it began to sink in that this was all real as she sat down on a chair
" I know, there has been some wesen that I've met that are as nice as be like I once met a Eisbiber who made me blankets and cake, although he was terrified that I would kill him" he said kneeling in front of her, trying to calm her down
" I'm sorry I know you aren't like that, I guess seeing the weapon that frequently mentioned in my bedtime stories got to me. When you're a child its easy to believe that boggie man isn't real" she said giving him a sad smile as she tried to put on a brave face on for him
" was all this too much for you? I just felt like I should show sooner rather than later, I don't want you to feel like I'm keeping anything from you" he said knowing that that was partly the reason why his relationship failed
" no I'm glad you brought me here, it means you trust with all of this and that makes everything else better" she said smiling a little bigger now as she leaned into kiss him to show how much it meant to her
" plus if you're anything like Monroe and Rosalee then you'll probably be helping me out with the wesen related cases so this place will become a second home to you" he said smiling as she turned around in the chair and began to read one of the books laying on the table
" most likely... oh I meant to ask how would feel about going to this french vegan place tomorrow night for our date?" she said with a sweet smile as she tried to use her feminine wilds to make him give into her
" french vegan? sure why not" he said not completely sold on the idea but knew it was only fair since she always went to meat based restaurants for him
" thank you, I promise the next time you can pick any meat restaurant you want like a streak house" she said giving him a kiss to show him how much it meant o her that he was willing to do things he didn't want to do just to make her happy
" I am so sorry but I've got to get back to work, apparently the Captain is looking for me" he said sadly, the thought of him leaving her and going back to work seemed boring
" it's fine really, I should probably get back to the shop before Rosalee loses anymore customers" she said as she took his hand in hands as they walked back to his car
The next day Monroe decided to go the courthouse with Rosalee to see this lawyer in action so it meant that Mia was shop sitting again for them. She had decided to wear a pair of jeans, a floral split hem top and a pair of red slip on shoes. She had curled the ends of hair and tied the front of it back by neatly braiding it, her eye make up was lightly smoked with grey glitter eye shadow and her lips were a dull red. She was sitting at the counter writing in her notebook when she got a text from Monroe that she should come down to the courtyard to check something out. So she grabbed her red coat and brown bag before closing up shop and flipping over the open sign to show closed then got into her blue vintage fiat to drive towards the courthouse. When she got there she saw that Monroe had called Hank and Nick to come too so she knew that whatever was going on was a legal thing and possibly a wesen thing, she walked to where they standing. Nick put his arm around her waist and gave her a small kiss to show her that he had missed her and to say hi
" hey babe what are you doing here?" he said as she cuddled further into his shoulder, it wasn't cold or anything it was just nice to be close to someone like Nick
"Monroe called said there was something going on with this case so I thought I would come and check it out so whats going on?" she said hoping that Rosalee wasn't in trouble or that someone wasn't doing something to her
" have you guys ever heard of Barry Kellogg?" Monroe said remembering why he had called them all her
" wait? The famous lawyer? Isn't he dealing with the case about the husband who threw his wife off the balcony in their bedroom?" Mia said remembering what she had read in the newspapers a couple of months ago
"yeah he's handling the Nidaira case" he said wondering what was going on with a lawyer that had a reputation for never losing in court, although he had never had the pleasure of seeing him in action
" he's handling it alright, he's running the courtroom like a night club hypnotist" Monroe said remembering how maid had changed her story once Barry Kellogg had spoken to her
" you said something about jury tampering, you any proof?" Hank said hoping that he would have something that they could use to take this guy down and hopefully prevent a killer from walking free
" well he dropped a toad in the men's room" he said giving a Mia and Nick a knowing look that told them which caused them to share a look that them that they were all on the same page apart from Hank
" excuse me?" Hank said not quite following what they were clearly all knew, Mia felt that someone should probably fill him before he thought the guy was doing some weird drug thing
" you think he's a Ziegevolk? that would explain how he was able to charm them all" she siad remembering the things that her parents taught about the Ziegevolk and their abilities which came from eating frogs
" yeah I mean why else would he have a toad in the bathroom?" Monroe asked his sister knowing that he wasn't exactly likely to be licking the toads and there wasn't any wesens that used toads
" what's a Ziege whatever?" Hank asked not quite able to pronounce the name of the wesen that appeared in their lives this time
" A ziegevolk eats toads which gives them a kind of psychic hallucinogenic over people, they mostly use it on women" Mia said filling him on the main headlines of the Ziegevolk's abilities and what they used on it
" remember the case of the guy that caged women in his basement? the one where you gassed when you checked out his place?" Nick said thinking back on on of their first case after he discovered that he was a grimm
" he was one?" Hank said wondering not for the first time how many of their cases involved a wesen without him knowing about it
" expect this guy isn't just picking up women but entire jury" Monroe said making them realise that the stakes were much high than there were on that case
" why are you here?" Hank asked as it suddenly occurred to him that it seemed strange that Monroe would be hanging out in a courtroom where there just so happened to be a wesen doing bad things
" because Rosalee is on the jury which is why I've been shop sitting the last two days" she told them as she moved in front of Nick slight so that his arms were now around her waist with her chest against his back
" so why did he call you?" Hank asked already knowing the reason why Monroe called them as they were cops but couldn't quite work out why he would call his sister who was a teacher
" because I'm his sister and unlike you two next to Rosalee I'm the best when it comes to all things wesen, it was my favourite subject when I was a kid" she said knowing that all wesen kids were taught about their history, downfalls and so on
"I'm just saying take a look at this deal and tell me I'm crazy" Monroe said ignoring them both as he lead them towards the courtroom where Barry Kellogg was working his magic on everyone in the room including the jury where Wu was being put on the stand
" Wu's on this case?" Nick said as they all sat down on on the benches, Mia sat next to Nick who took a hold of her hand and intertwined their fingers
"yeah he was first on the scene" Hank said remembering how Wu came and told all the details of the case when it happened, he told him almost immediately this guy had done it
" and how good is he on the stand?" Mia asked wondering how likely he was to change his story or be influenced by some fancy famous lawyer
" he's done this a million times, no lawyer will trick him" he told her having total faith in his friend, you didn't get to be a sergeant without being good at giving testimonies and knowing every trick in the book
They sat and silently watched as Wu gave the prosecutor what seemed to a solid testimony about what he had seen and how the defendant had appeared when he first saw him. However when the defence lawyer went to question Wu he began to doubt what he had seen then soon changed his previous statement, shocking everyone of them that he had been able to influence him
" what the hell?" Hank said not being able to believe that Wu had actually been affected by whatever magical toad related powers this guy was using on everyone including one of their own
" I'm telling you it's the toad" Monroe said reminding that this was a some kind of super toad that allowing him to do this on a wider scale than the other guy they had dealt with
Later than night the guys and Mia waited in the shop for Rosalee to come back to check out the day's takings, they had decided that it was probably best that they all talked to her to tell her what they had sae. As soon as Rosalee came into the old spice shop to find them all standing in a line, she knew that there was something going on that they needed to talk to her about.
"ok guys what's going on?" she said sensing that there some urgent case or something that they had to tell her but she knew that they seemed a little hesitant to tell her
" I'll go, we think that Barry Kellogg is a Ziegevolk. Monroe caught him in the bathroom with a toad and we watched him influence sergeant Wu into doing a one eighty with his statement" Mia said trying to ease in to as she lead them all into the back room where she made Rosalee a cup of herbal tea
" so Barry Kellogg is a Ziegevolk?" she asked picking out the key information for Mia's sentence, she trusted them enough that to believe them
" that's how he wins" Nick said piecing it all together, there was no way that Barry Kellogg did this for the first time and got caught
" I still can't believe he got Wu to change his story" Hank said since he always seem Wu as some kind of tank when it came to trails and lawyers, he never faltered
" he's using some kind of rare toad to super charge the Ziegevolk" Monroe said trying to make him feel better, he knew it wasn't Wu's fault that he become a victim to Kellogg's abilities during court
" he's been drugging us" Rosalee said as it all began to make sense as why she was suddenly feeling ill during the trail then having a headache after it was all over, it was like an addicts hungover
" don't feel bad about it Rose, he has the whole courtroom fooled" Mia said hating that Rosalee was annoyed at herself for not being able to see it before they had
" well now we know what we're dealing with, is there some kind immune nasal spray that you could use to stop him influencing you?" Hank asked not wanting some guy who had a big fancy wesen lawyer on his side to change the jury's opinions on him
" that's not going to be enough to get this trail back on track" Mia said from her chair across from Rosalee, she knew that giving it to just Rosalee wouldn't stop the others from voting not guilty
" she's right, getting it into Rosalee won't be enough to make the jury vote guilty" Monroe said backing up his sister, they needed to come up with a bigger and better plan
"could you prove some kind of malpractice case?" Rosalee asked Nick hoping that he would have some police related tricks up his sleeve that they could use to take this guy down
" how? eating frogs aren't illegal, forget trying to prove they have magical powers to influence a jury" Nick said trying to make them see that the police root wasn't going to work this time
"plus we don't exactly have proof of him influencing them, other than a toad and a very good hunch we have nothing to show" Mia said knowing that any other cop in the city would think that they were crazy of they told them what was going on
"this guy puts away killers, tanking one case won't be enough" Hank told them thinking that if they showed doubt in one case then they could be responsible for releasing a lot of killers that belonged where they were
" we need find a way toto stop him for good" Nick said knowing that they couldn't risk him letting anyone else get off on murder where they could easy do it again to another innocent victim
" we don't have much time, closing arguments are tomorrow" Rosalee said standing up as she sensed that they had a long night ahead for them as they tried to figure something out
" well I guess I should the books out, someone put a pit of coffee on I think we're going to need" Mia said as she headed into the shop where all the relevant books were located
An hour or so later they were all reading various different books on Ziegevolks whether it was the anatomy of them or the different abilities they had and where they can from. It felt it had been ages since one of them had spoken a word or had come up with some form of a plan or even an idea.
"here's something about pheromones in salamanders" Hank said hoping that the information and details would still work with toads, he didn't really know the difference between them
" no it has to be toads" Rosalee told him knowing that since toads were the only thing they eat and the only thing that gave them their abilities then it wouldn't work unless it was them
" This one has a lengthy treatise on Ziegevolk anatomy, but the author seems mostly interested in rehashing the old three versus four stomachs debate" Monroe said as he continued to pace the shop floor while reading blood in his hand about Ziegevolks
"That's a debate?" he asked not sure what stuck more the fact there were some wesen with more than one stomach or that people were having heated debates over which was better
"Oh, yeah it's a big one in the wesen world... oh here's something about the gerbuck gland" Mia said as she tried to speedily read the text so that she would know what it involved to find out if what they were looking for
" thats how they use their pheromones so effectively" he said working out which she had just read as she passed it over to Rosalee so that she could read it to conform if it was the right thing
" does it say anything about toads?" Nick asked leaning over towards Rosalee so that he could read the book over her shoulder to see if it had mentioning of toads or anything to stop the effects
" nothing here but it's pretty obvious that when they eat certain toads it simulates the sweat glands, this is out target" Rosalee said figuring the rest out of the story which the knowledge that she already had of the anatomy of different wesen
" how do we get to it?" Hank asked thinking that getting to a guy's glands was not an easy thing to do without him knowing about it
"there's a solution in that book that attacks the sweat gland no matter how many toads they eat like a pheromone vasectomy it will negate everything he's told the jury" Mia said thinking this was their best chance to do what they were aiming to do
" let's do it" Hank said not needing to hear anymore, all he needed to know was that they had something to use against him now and stop him from doing anymore harm
"ok oh no, oh no... theres one unfortunate ingredient" Rosalee asked as she read the recipe of the solution to make sure that she had everything that they needed when she came across something weird
" we should have seen this coming" Monroe said thinking that there was also something that go in their way, it was never easy when it came to them
"what is it?" Nick asked ignoring Monroe, he thought the sooner they knew it then the sooner they went out and took it from him
" Barry Kellogg's sweat" Rosalee said thinking it was strange even for the wesen, it wasn't something that she wanted to think about never less touch or deal with
" seriously? what is with you guys? first it's some dude's eye and now it's guys sweat" Mia said making Nick laugh as he gave her a look that told that he couldn't resist her homour but that she wasn't really helping
" how do we get that?" Monroe said knowing it wasn't something that they just go up to him and ask for with him being suspicion
" first we find him then we make him sweat" Nick said knwoing that they could do nothing if they didn't know where he was
" wait I think I have an idea" Mia said as something suddenly popped into her head as she got an idea but knew that neither Monroe or Nick would like it
They had agreed to along with Mia's plan even though Nick and Monroe both hated the part that she had decided to play in but they all agreed that they needed a well trusted wesen to help them so they called Bud who seemed to love Mia. Nick drove Mia home so that she could get changed into a orange cami top, a pastel coloured beige sequinned mini skirt, a beige biker jacket and beige heels. She had quickly curled hair and swept in to the side by pinning one side of it up, she wore dark eye make up and light bright pink lip gloss. He then drove her to the bar where they knew that Barry would go to pick women so they made sure that he would be attracted to her for their plan to work. After a while Barry came up to her and began to hit on her till he finally asked her to go back to his hotel room with him, she quickly sent a text to everyone to tell them it was go time before leaving with him
" you know I have to say this but I never do this kind of thing" she said playing the cute clueless girl who was all smiles and giggle with nothing much going on in her head '
" you trust me and want to go back to my room with me so that we can some real fun together" he said using his pheromones to convince her that this was what she wanted
" you're so right, this is what I want to do something that I've wanted to do all night" she said finding herself leaning into kiss him without even meaning to, all of a sudden Monroe came out of an alleyway
" get the hell away from her!" he growled as he began to chase Barry Kellogg down the street where Bud was waiting by his truck to take him back to his hotel so that they could get his sweat and find out where he was staying
" seriously? you were going to kiss him?" Nick asked wondering if he had seen the interaction between his girlfriend and their suspect
" he was using his pheromones on me, like I would ever willing cheat on you and also why would I kiss an old bald man when I have you at home?" she asked smiling at his insecurities before tugging on the side of his shirts to pull him into a passion filled kiss
" I'm sorry my jealously over came me there, I guess I just hate men looking at how hot you are "he said pulling her in closer to him as he wasn't quite ready to between the contract between them just yet
"well they can look but only you can touch" she said before kissing him again, she knew it was probably likely now that he was going to stay at her apartment that night when all of over with
" come on we should head back to the old spice shop and see if Bud got what we need" he said holding her hand in his as he lead her back to Hank's car who was waiting for them to come back
" actually do you mind if you just drive me home? It's a school night and its already 1 am in the morning" she said hating to leave while there was still work to be done but knew she needed to get some sleep before she had to up in 5 hours time
" yeah of course and then maybe I'll stop by when we're finished?" he asked hoping that she needed him to sleep as much as he needed her
" you better" she said as she sat in the back seat of the car as she gave a quick wink and a smile
The next day after school was finished Mia drove as quickly as she could without getting a ticket for speeding to get to the courthouse before they handed out a verdict. Mia had wore a mint and navy patterned collared dress with a pair of mint strap heels, a navy jacket and a mint bucket bag. She had created a complicated twisted braid while the rest of her hair was wavy and down, she wore simple black eyeliner and pinky red lips. She came out of her blue vintage car to see Monroe, Hank and Nick standing on the stairs with the rest of the crowd from the courtroom as they waited to be told to go back in. Mia walked up to where they stood while holding four cups of coffee from Starbucks
" hey guys what I have missed?" she said handing out the coffees as she tried to work out why they all looked so tense and stressed out
" well when Monroe went into his briefcase there was two frogs and one dose so he choose one and now we don't know if Kellogg ate the right one" Nick said trying to fill her in while also being mindfully of Monroe's feeling since he was already doubting the one he picked
"Roe I'm sure that you picked the right one and if you didn't then there was no way on knowing which one he would eat, we just need to come up with another plan if that happens ok?" Mia said trying convince him that it would all work out, showing Nick one of the reasons he liked her so much already
" How long do you think this will take?" Monroe said pacing up and down the stairs as he worried that he had made the wrong the choice when it came to the toads
"it's hard to say" Nick said knowing from experience that it depended on individual cases, he didn't feel comfortable tell him an exact amount of time then being proven wrong
" but if you had to say, How long would it take?" he asked again not quite satisfied by Nick's previous answer so he looked to Hank for more preferred answer
" if they're guilty then it could take forever but if they're innocent then it could be faster" Hank said knowing that that was more safer answer and light less vague than Nick's, although it still didn't give him a defined answer
" they've reached a verdict, the jury's coming back in" said a court official working the case as they came out to let everyone back in
" oh go I picked the wrong toad" Monroe said panicking that a killer was going to be set free because lady luck wasn't their side for once
" you don't know that, plus Rosalee knows the truth now so maybe she can charm the other jurors into choosing the right verdict" Mia said trying to comfort her older brother who was obvious having a difficult time of it as they entered the court room and sat down
Later that night in the back room of the old spice shop the gang and Bud were celebrating the fact that the Jury had decided that the accused was guilty, revealing that there plan had worked. Monroe was currently opening a bottle of champagne for them to all share as he poured some into everyone's out stretched glasses. He couldn't help but noticed that his best friend and sister had never looked more happy than when they were together, even when Nick was with Juliette he didn't seem this happy or easy going than he did when he was with Mia.
"I want to thank all of you, if it weren't for you then I would been part of letting a killer go free" Rosalee said raising her glass up as a form of toast to all of her friends that she owed so much to already
"we saved some lives, Nidaira is in jail" Nick said feeling that someone had to say how they had achieved in one night, he knew that this was what grimm should do rather than kill the wesen. It was what he wanted to teach his and Mia's children
"and Kellogg will never be able to step in front of a jury without aggravating them" Hank said causing them all to laugh at the thought of the jury's reaction to a new and improved Kellogg
"I still can't believe that I stole a guy's sweat" Bud said knowing that he would never be able to use that hankie again without thinking about it
"what about me? I was the one that had to flirt with him all night" Mia said making them laugh since they knew that even though it was her plan she still had the rough end of the deal
" cheers" they said as they raised their glasses and tapped them together, this was a win that they could celebrate and would glad take pleasure in
" I've got this" Monroe said they heard a customer come into the shop for some help with whatever was going on with them, he put down his glass and headed out to the shop floor
" hey what would you say about coming back to my place and carrying on this celebration?" Nick asked Mia who currently had an arm around his waist and was pressed against one side of his body
" I would to since you know Juliette has moved out now but first I need to go to my apartment and grab some stuff for work in the morning" she said excited to see his place for the first time since they became a couple, it was only recently that Juliette had left their house
" great and this way I can give the full tour" he said nice and low as he bent down slightly as they leaned into kiss each other as they temporarily forgot that they weren't alone
"guys I'll be back in a minute, I'm just going to make sure that Monroe is okay" Rosalee said having a feeling that something was going on and if not then she might be able to help with whatever remedy the customer needed
"Mia wait here! I'm serious do not come out!" Nick said as they heard Rosalee scream from the shop as he and Hank reached for their guns to run to their rescue to find Kellogg full vogue fighting with a full vogued Monroe
After a quick pit stop to the police station to drop off Kellogg to be arrested for assault on Rosalee and Monroe, Nick drove Mia to his house that he used to live Juliette in although it was now missing her little touches. Nick couldn't help but wonder how the place would look with Mia's little touches around the place and if she would let him use the lamp that Juliette had banned. He watched as Mia took a minute to look around the place as she took off her bag, coat and shoes before she turned back to Nick and put her arms around his neck
" I love it, I mean I won't lie its different from what I thought it would look like but still I love it" she said giving a big bright smile that she only ever seemed to use with him
" you have no idea how glad I am to hear that but you have yet to see the best bit" he said putting his hands on her waist as he gently began to walk towards forcing her to walk backwards
" oh yeah and what's that?" she said chuckling as she already had a vague idea which bit that was
"the bedroom" he said before lifting her legs up onto his waist and crashing his lips against hers for kiss that implied everything he wanted to do to her, she wrapped her legs around his waist as he lead them up the stairs
