hey guys so this was going to 3x04 and 3x05 together but that didn't happen like always I got carried away with what I was writing so now it is about Mia and the council. This will lead into 3x06 where Mia and Alexander will see each other again. Chapter 11: oh, what a life
Mia had become restless when it came to waiting for the council to make their move against her so one Saturday she decided to get up early and go for a run to clear her head before she started on her to do list, running always helped her focus and keep calm although not as much as swimming did. When she got back home she went for showers before changing into a pair of ripped shorts, a deep v-necked blue tank, a pair of denim sneakers. Mia decided that since she would probably be inside all day she threw her hair into a messy bun before wrapping a wire headband around the front of her hairline, she wore light makeup on her eyes with a little eyeliner and light peach lips. She grabbed her phone and her headphone as she walked downstairs to went through her music before deciding on 'hadn't had enough' by Marianas, she knew that it would still be a while till Nick would get up for work so she felt it was only fair to let him. When Nick came downstairs fully dressed and ready for work he saw Mia in the kitchen dancing along to whatever music was playing through her headphones while she put coffee into one of the filters to make a fresh pot of coffee. He leaned against the doorframe as he watched how relaxed she was, lately he sensed that she was constantly looking over her shoulder as if waiting for something to happen but he couldn't work out what. He walked up to where she was and decided to put his hands on her waist as he began to kiss her neck which he knew she loved, she paused her music before taking her earphones off.
" hey, how long have you been here?" she asked since she figured that he had probably been there for a while, she knew that she should have been more aware of what was going on in case of an attack but it was hard thing to do when you felt so comfortable
" a while, I couldn't help it I mean you were having so much fun and seemed to be so chilled I didn't want to interrupt you. By the way I like the shorts" he said realising that even the way she was dressed said that she was relaxed and feeling more free than usual, maybe it was the fact that they had kinda said I love you for the first time
" yeah well I realised that I hadn't wore them in a while and these are my favourite pair so I thought why not, oh hey I cut up some fruit and put in a container so that you could take it to work and I made a fresh pot of coffee for you" she said as she poured herself a cup, she knew that he never had time for breakfast which was why she put some food in the container so that he could take it with him
"thanks, you know I love doing all of this everyday mundane stuff with you" he said wondering how you could miss something you never knew that you missing, since he became a grimm his relationship with Juliette became everything that his relationship with Mia wasn't
" yeah me too, although I'm not sure that you call us a mundane couple since I'm wesen and you're a grimm, I think we're more abnormal than you think" she said laughing at the thought, he could that she wasn't saying like it was a bad thing but more in an observational way as if they were watching a baseball game
"so long have you been awake?" he asked since he knew that she was never this function in the morning, sometimes he had to drag her out of bed just to get to work on time
" two hours I think I went for run… I was wondering if it would be okay if I used your computer, its just I left my laptop in my desk draw at work?" she asked hoping he would say yes otherwise it meant that her whole plan would take a lot longer than she thought it would
"yeah of course, its the house computer you're welcome to it whenever. What are you up today anyway?" he asked wondering what she was planning and if it had anything to do with the mystery box under the bed that she refused to open or let him see, it was the only secret that she refused to talk about
" promise you won't get mad at me…. I want to track down the agent that's following me and reporting back to the wesen council" she said knowing that his reaction wasn't going to be a good, she knew that she was playing with fire by poking the beast but she couldn't just sit back and do nothing
"what do you are hoping to find out?" he asked carefully, he did't know a lot about the ween council but the things that his previous family members had written about them told him that they weren't organisation to mess with
" I want to know why now they're keeping tabs on me, Nick I ran away from them 13 years ago and the last time I had anything to do with anyone from the council was 6 years ago I think" she said realising that she was ranting now as she tried to avoid the reason she had figured out the other night while Nick slept peacefully next to her
" Mia calm down ok? you know why don't you? so tell me why would the council keep tabs on someone who used to be one of them?" he asked hoping that it was some nice reason like they were worried about her or that they had missed her but he knew that these kind of people never did anything to be nice
"I think they want me back with them but I'm not sure which is why I want to figure out who's pulling the strings because that way I can figure a way out of it" she said not willing to let go of her life to do the council's dirty work for them again, it was why she wanted out in the first place
" promise that you won't do anything stupid and if you are then come to me, I'll help you out with whatever" he said wrapping his arms around her waist to pull her in closer to him as she did the same, he hated the thought her getting close to the people who made her life hell when she was younger
" I promise ok? no stupid careless moves and I'll come to you if I need you… shouldn't you be getting to work before you're late?" she said looking at the time as she turned to grab his food and coffee travel mug so that he would be sorted to as he gave her a kiss and said his goodbye as he walked out the door
Later that day Mia had her files spread out around the room as she realised that the council had gotten better at covering their tracks than they were a few years ago when she first began to track their movement after she had ran away from them. She created a list of all the agents that were close to her while she was part of the council since it made sense that would try to use the connection to her if anything went wrong like her finding out. Mia felt her mind become numb with everything so she decided to take a coffee break while she put her glasses since her eyes were beginning to sting, she poured herself a coffee while she tried to think of her next move. She felt like she was getting nowhere with all of her research, once she had her cup of coffee she walked back to the couch where her things were and looked through her lists of contact as she tried to work out who she could call for information. She grabbed her pen and notebook before heading towards Nick's mac in case she had to look anything while on the phone, then decided to dial her friends number while praying that her German was in good shape.
"Hallo Erin, seine Mia... Ich weiß, es ist schon eine Weile, aber ich brauche Ihre Hilfe(hello erin, its Mia... I know its been a while but I need your help)" Mia said in German since that was Erin's native language, although it had been a while since Mia had used the German she was taught as a child
"Mia, es ist mehr als 10 Jahren, seit wir zuletzt gesprochen und wir waren uns einig, dass wir nicht für den Fall, Menschen miteinander in Kontakt verbunden mit uns zusammen (Mia, it's been over 10 years since we last spoke and we agreed that we couldn't contact each other in case people connected us together)" Erin said shocked that she was hearing from a dear old friend, Erin had been part of the plan that Mia had created to escape the council as Erin drove the getaway car so to speak
" I know and I wouldn't be calling if it wasn't important, a few months ago the council contacted my brother's girlfriend for information about me" she said updating her on what was going on since she knew that she would get why this was such a big deal and why it warranted a phone call
"so it's fair to assume that they would have sent an agent to watch, is there a reason to watch you?" she asked in a heavy German accent as she went to a quieter place so no one would over hear her, she knew that they would only do something like this if something in Mia'a life changed
" yeah I'm dating someone that the council could see a threat and he's a Grimm…." she said knowing that as a Jagerbar or even just as wesen that she would more freaked out than Mia was when she met Nick for the first time
"a Grimm! Mia what were you thinking? what, there wasn't any normal guys around for you to date? I thought you knew that to live under the radar that you had live by the rules" she said wondering why she was risking her safety all for the sake of some guy, to the wesen world the most danger person above all the wesen was the Grimms
"I know not my smartest move but he's different from the stories, I just need to know if Niklause is still close to Alexander or De Groot?" Mia asked remembering that Erin's twin brother used to be a part of the council as well as friends with Niklaus so it meant that she would have some inside information, although she wasn't sure if they had shut her out after they found out she had helped Mia escape
"yeah he is and he'd probably talk to you so I'll send you his new number….. Mia I hope you know what you're doing not just with the grimm but with the council and Alexander too, he hasn't forgot about what happened" Erin said as she sent Mia the number that she needed to go through her plan of gaining information or beginning her bigger more dangerous plan
"yeah well neither have I and at this point Alexander knowing that I'm looking into why they're stalking me is not my biggest problem right now" she said before hanging up the phone and looking at her texts where she found Niklaus's number, she knew this one was going to use more charm than Erin needed
"Niklaus, qui est-ce? et comment avez-vous eu ce numéro? (Niklaus, who is this? and how did you get this number?)" said the voice on the other line, Mia was surprised at how manly and grown up the voice sounded compared the quiet and soft voice of the child she once knew
"Niklaus wow, vous avez presque sonner comme un homme, mais je parie que je pourrais tranquillement ne vous distancer tout moment (wow Niklaus, you almost sound like a man but I'm betting that I could still outrun you any time)" Mia said hoping that he would work out who it was, she found it weird that she was reminded about everything and everyone she had left behind when she was 15
"Emilia? non non vous avez quitté le conseil et tu nous as quittés comme vous ne avez pas souciez de nous, comme vous ne avez jamais l'un de nous! (Emilia? no no you left the council and you left us like you didn't care about us, like you were never one of us!)" He said getting anger at the fact that she had the nerve to just call him up out of the blue, although he had been well warned against her charming ways
"Je ai quitté le conseil pour une très bonne raison, mais je ne ai jamais voulu vous les gars laisser derrière (I left council for a very good reason but I never wanted to leave you guys behind)" She said realising that the council had probably covered up the reason she left as she stood up and began to pace the room out of frustration
" nous savons pourquoi vous avez quitté, nous a dit Alexander. Nous avons vu les dossiers ne vous avaient sous votre lit, nous saisQu'il vous êtes à la trahison (we know why you left, Alexander told us. We saw the files that you had under your bed, we know that you're with the Verrat) He said without hiding his disgust at her, he remember the day that she left as clear as day as they cleared out her room and in the process found hidden documents
" wait what? what files? I didn't leave to join Verrat! I left because I'm not a hit man and I didn't want to… ok it doesn't matter why but I didn't do that, those files aren't mine" she said not wanting to get into the ins and outs of why she left because she knew it would change his view of the council
"if they weren't yours then who do they belong to?…. Emilia what do you want? because I'm assuming its not a trip down memory lane" he said in english since he noticed that she still reverted back to english when she got upset or angry, it was habit she had when she was younger
" I'll add that to my list of questions for the council, I need you to get me access to Alexander computer" she said as she knowing that getting access to his computer was the second best thing next to actually asking Alexander
" really? do you also want me to hack into the national bank too? because that's kinda what you're asking me to do" he said wondering how someone could ask a favour like that while sounding so casual as if it was nothing
" Niklaus you're the best hacker I know and it's not like I can do it myself from Portland" she said statin the obvious since there was no way that she was going to go to the council and an even lower chance of her actually getting into their inner layer
" fine what do you need from his computer?" he asked since he knew that everything would hit the fan if the prodigal daughter returned to the council, he didn't know whether she would receive hugs and kisses or guns and fists
" I need you to find any files, email, photos,anything related to me and I know this is not like me but if Alexander finds you don't tell about this" she said sitting back down at the computer and taking a sip of her now slightly cold coffee, she knew that the memories that she had blocked from her time in the council would beginning to show their ugly heads again
" Emilia you know that Alexander will work everything out and trace it back to you eventually so what's the plan?…. I've missed you for whatever its worth" he said wondering what else the council lied about when it came to Mia, it was like she was their weak spot
"the plan is to get the information and then go to the council with whatever anger rant comes to me first and maybe come up with a better plan, thanks Niklaus I owe you one" she said realising that she left out the bit about her being with a Grimm but in her defence she didn't think it was relevant yet
Later that night Mia was distracting herself by watching some movie about a girl meeting a boy then the boy messing somehow before making a grand gesture, her main focus was on waiting for the computer to signal that she had a new email. She knew that when Nick came that she would need to tell him about the fact that she had been in contact with people who were and are associated with the council. However that meant that she would to confess so more secrets to him such as why she left since it was more than just not wanting to be a part of the council, she still remember that day like it was yesterday. She had been hearing to the training room to do her morning work out when she heard Alexander and a much younger De Groot talking, they were discussing how she was becoming the prefect agent if Alexander proposed and grew even closer to her. Their plan was to use Mia to turn into the perfect killing machine where she would simply follow them and the Walenstadt to the t, the other option for her to end up the other people that refused the council. So she took the other option that was more frowned upon which was to run back to her house praying that her parents would't send her back which was why Monroe kept her hiding for two weeks. Finally the computer pinged to signal that Niklaus's email was finally in so she went over to it and began to look through her email to find that he sent her several files filled with photos her doing everyday things like teaching or swimming so she decided to print them all off. As she was looking through the printings the computer signalled that a new email had come through but when she went to look at her email she noticed that there wasn't now there. So she looked for the source of the sound when she stumbled on Nick's emails and found a new email from someone called the bheader without realising what she was doing Mia began to read the email. Just then Nick walked through the door and called out for her.
" hey I'm over, how was your day?"she said as she walked away from the computer as she tried to out what to do about the email from M, she knew that she had broken his privacy by reading it
"hey it was ok or as okay as it can be when looking into a murder with wesen connections which reminds me, guess what we found?….. Naiads" he said as he went to hug but she not so subtle moved away from him still distracted by the whole email thing and what he would think of her
" wow Naiads, is that why you're dressed in different clothes from this morning?" she asked realising that his hair was wet and that he was now wearing a pair of black sweats, a Portland Police Department fleece and a pair of running shoes
" yeah our killers kidnapped a girl and tried to cut the telae between her fingers but when we got there she thrown into the water so I dived in after her…..are you okay? you seem off" he said watching her body language, everything about her seemed like she was hiding something or was ashamed
"ok I need to tell you something and I need you to promise not to get mad at me because I didn't totally mean it" she said pacing in front of the computer, she was beginning to panic as she imaged Nick kicking her out then her having to live with Monroe
" Mia whatever is just tell me ok? then we'll see about the getting mad thing" he said wondering if this had anything to do with her day of research into the council and why they were beginning to show interest in her again
" when I was on the computer you go an email from someone called the bheader and I did't mean to read it was just that I got curious then before I knew it was opened, I'm sorry I know I invaded your privacy. I shouldn't have even your on computer" she said ranting as she tried to explain herself and her actions, Nick could tell that she was stressing herself out with this so he walked over to her and tried to calm her down
"calm down… first of all I trust you which why I told you it was okay to go on it and second of all I don't have anything to hide you, you know all of my secrets" he said wondering what could have been in that email that could cause this kind of reaction from her when usually she was so calm and collected but with an edge of sarcasm
" the email said 'Haven't been able to spend the money. Royal assassination causing much turmoil. No longer safe... Must leave now. Love you, M'…. thats your mom right?" she asked knowing that highlights of their strained relationship which is why she felt so bad for overstepping his privacy
" yeah and I think she might be in trouble, I haven't seen her since last year when Akira Kimura broke here and attacked me I mean if it was't for her I would be dead" he said sitting down at the computer so that he could read the email for himself, he began to read between the lines
"how did she fake her death in the first and why?" Mia asked wondering how you could walk away from your life including a young son that would be losing not one but two parents on the same night
" my dad was driving a friend of my mom's home from the airport when they were killed, my mom figured that it would be best if people thought that she was in the car" he said sitting on the table in front of her as she sat on the table, he could tell that she was thinking about something in the back of her mind
" she's a grimm right? Kelly Burkhart, the infamous deadly grimm who will cut your head off clean before you can even blink" she said remembering the stories about Kelly, the stories of grimms killing off wesen got around the wesen world like wild fire
" yeah I guessing being a grimm is genetic?"he asked her hoping that she would know more about it than he would, sometimes he felt that he had come a long way since discovering about his powers and other times he felt that he had learned nothing
"yeah it is or it can be, it can skip people or even generations and females powers tend to show earlier than men. That doesn't mean that your kid would be a grimm" she said knowing that was where his mind had went to when he thought of the grimm gene being genetic
"what would about out kid?" he asked waiting for reaction to the question, he was happy when he saw a slow smile creep up in on her as she considered the question
" its hard to say with our kid, I mean it could be a blutbad or it could be a grimm or it could be both or it could be totally normal. Although it would defiantly be one of a kind, no wesen has ever had a baby with a grimm" she said not wanting to tell him that their baby would also be the most hunted baby, people were scared off the unknown so a baby being the first its kind would not be welcomed with open arms
" yeah but any kid that was our would always be special no matter what it was or wasn't… so how was your day? did you find anything out?" he asked trying to get away from the subject of them having children since he had yet to meet her parents, he know no wesen parents would be thrilled to find out their daughter was dating a grimm
"yeah I had to contact a few people in order to get what I was looking for but one of the agents in the council had several different files connected to me on his computer so all I need to do is work my way through them to get to the why of it all" she said gesturing to the print out sheets sitting at the printer, she purposely left out the part about the agent being Alexander who was also an old flame of hers
" these pictures were taking from your old apartment and these emails are discussing your connection to several wesen cases which are also the same one that you've helped me with…. why are they doing this?" he asked knowing that he still had a lot to find out about the council more so about the nitty gritty details.
" when I find out, I'll let you know" she said knowing that she had already half figured it out but was hoping that her hunch was wrong
The next morning Nick woke up to find a very awake and caffeinated Mia would bounced up from the computer as soon as she saw her. Mia was wearing a pair of roll up boyfriend jeans, a brown lace cami, a dark yellow cardigan and brown ankle boots. Her hair was in a loose side braid where some of her hair was beginning to escape, she wore dark smoky brown hair and lip pink lipstick. She had found it hard to sleep last night as her head spun with question about where Nick's mom could be and what kind of trouble she was in, so she decided to get up and get ready then began to look into where his mom had sent the email from. Five cups of coffee next she had found out that everything she needed to know except the reasons behind it all.
"hey hi you're up finally, so I couldn't stop thinking about your mom and how you thought she was in trouble which is why I decided to trace the IP address back to to Visnja Gora….coffee?" she said in a hyperactive way since she was all but bouncing off the wall, he noticed that she must have been a cup number 5 buzz so he took the cup from her before she poured herself another one
" yeah but only so you don't drink it, so tell me where is Visnja Gora?….. whoa this is strong, how much coffee is in this?!" he asked feeling the hairs on his arms stand up, he was pretty much sure that a spoon would be stand in the cup it was that strong
" a little more than normal, anyways I looked up Visnja Gora up and it turns out that it is in Slovenia…. here I printed out a map for you" she said grabbing the map from the computer table as she ran back to the kitchen where he was waiting for her, she was like a child on a sugar rush
"Slovenia.. she must be heading to Greece on her alone,I have no idea why she would in Slovenia or what's in Greece? but thanks anyway babe" he said giving her a kiss before during some coffee into a travel mug hoping to fool Hank into drinking at work
the next day at work getting her classroom ready for the next class after lunch when she saw Monroe knock on her classroom door. She knew something had to be up for him to come to her work which meant whatever it was it couldn't wait till she went to his house that night for dinner with Nick. Mia was wearing a black mini pencil skirt, a cream peplum blouse, a white cami underneath, a dark red blazer and brown knee high boots. Her hair had a slight wavy to it with a braid around her head, she had dark eye makeup and pinky red smiled when she noticed that he had two cups of coffee and a bag that smelled of chocolate chips muffins.
" hey big bro what brings you to my neck of the woods?" she asked taking the coffee and muffin from him since it had been a while since she had a decent cup of coffee and she needed the sugar high to get through her next class which was a class of freshmen
"I need your advice about something and I can't really to Rosalee about it without offending her, mom called this morning and Rosalee answered" he said knowing that she would get what a big deal this was, he also knew that if he told Rosalee why his parents couldn't or more like shouldn't find out about them that she would assume the worst
" oh no way, does she know that Rosalee is a Fuchsbau? because you know that she'll tell dad then they get the first flight to Portland just so they can tell us that everything they hate about decision as Blutbaden" she said knowing that they had had many arguments over the years due them wanting to be a different kind of blutbaden than their parents which clashed with them being very old fashioned
" no I haven't told them anything about her till now, I mean it doesn't matter to me that she is a Fuchsbau I love Rosalee no matter what but they won't see that you know" he said leaning against her desk while she handed out the history books onto the desk in front of him
" yeah well when they find out about you two and give you the 'breaking the natural law' rant then you can let slip that I'm dating a grimm" she said to him as she gave him a comforting smile, she knew exactly what her parents reaction to both pieces of information
" yeah then dad will be so busy trying to kill Nick that he'll forget all about me breaking the natural law by being with a Fuchsbau…. oh that reminds me would you be free to go shopping with me next week? I need a woman's opinion" he said trying to playing it cool but inside he was a nervous wreak just thinking about going on that shopping trip
" sure but why don't you just go with Rosalee?" she said finding it weird that he would ask for another woman's opinion rather than his girlfriend like he had something to hide
" because I kinda want the fact I'm going to propose a secret? so want to come ring shopping with me?" he said watching as she slammed the books on the table before jumping up and down in excitement
" ahhh oh my god of course I will, I can't believe you are going to propose!" she said pulling him in for a hug, he suddenly remembered that Nick had texted him to tell him that he was worried about Mia investigating the council
"I know and honestly I couldn't image you not being involved which is why you need to stop looking into the council before they find out" he said shocking her with the fact that he knew what she was up to, she knew that she was playing a dangerous game but she also needed answers
" Nick told you, Roe I needed to know why they're interested in me again and I think I know" she said pulling the file that she had created from the things that Niklaus has sent her the other day, only on she had highlighted the important parts
" this is from Alexander's computer isn't it? who else would be keeping track of you like this and would be discussing you with De Groot" he said knowing that his sister and Alexander's history went way back and it wasn't all good
" yeah I asked a friend of mine to look at his computer, he told me that when I left the higher ups decided to plant evidence in my room to make out that I had left to join the Verrat" she said knowing that he would begin to figure out what she had by using the evidence that she had circled and highlighted
" they're doing it again right? they're going to set you up but as what and why now?" he asked knowing that he would do anything to protect her like he should have so many years ago, when she got back from the council he promised that he would always have her back and protect her
" they're going to set me up to be a traitor to the council and for breaking the Walenstadt which is punishable by death, they can fake the proof" she said knowing that they would do anything it took if it meant making her pay for walking out on them, no one walked away from the council and got away with it
" they're going to kill you and make an example of you" Monroe said pulling her close to him as he placed a gentle kiss into her hair, he knew that this thing was going to blow up and soon but he knew that when it did she would be still be there to see the aftermath
