AN- I Am SOO sorry for the very long delay. I have had numerous tests and obstacles thrown at me in the past couple of months and haven't had the time to update. But I felt that I just had to update today because it had been a really long time. Anyways after school ends, I should be updating about every week, so I can't wait till then :)
Five minutes later, Olivia had fallen asleep while still protected in Elliot's arms. Sighing, Elliot rested Olivia's head slowly on the pillow, careful not to startle her, so she could continue a sleep, hopefully peaceful.
"She okay?" Fin's voice coming from where he stood by the door startled Elliot, causing him to jump.
"Now she is," Elliot stated, glancing at Olivia and hoping he was right. Fin walked into the room and took a seat in the chair. "You here to take my statement?" Elliot asked him, sighing.
"Actually, no, she wants to do that," Fin said placing a take-out bag on a nearby table, "I'm here to drop off her dinner, because, Lord knows she won't leave your side."
Elliot half-smiled and then looked down to Olivia who was still sleeping peacefully and his smile vanished when he saw her wince. Fin noticed this too. "You have no idea how rough these past years have been on her."
"I don't, do I?" Elliot admitted. Fin sighed, this was going to be a long conversation. "You really want to know?" Fin asked him. Elliot nodded.
"First off, after you left her she was a wreck, not that she would show it, or say it. We just knew. The first two months she justified your actions and stood by your side completely, fought for you like hell. She even stood up to the captain and IAB, and this time the captain didn't yell back. Sometimes I would catch her dozed off, staring into the picture of you and Ellie. Other times, like when she was forced to pack up your desk, I would watch her with a hopeless look on her face as she tried with all her might to keep it together in front of the squad."
Elliot stared at Olivia, and took her tiny hand into his. What the hell did I do to you? He thought to himself, starting to get annoyed with himself.
"The worst of them all though was when Cragen told her you quit. All I saw was her dart out of his office, looking sick, and then she walked off to an interrogation room which I found quite interesting considering there were no interviews that day. Then Don came out of his office and told me to go see if she was okay. I looked into the interview window and there she was, tears pouring down her face while she was shaking and hugging her knees at ground level. I felt terrible even then she cried alone, and usually you were there to help her. I slowly opened the door and when she saw me I guess she didn't even bother to tell me to go away so I carefully went over to her and held her till she stopped shaking. We both knew why she was crying, but nothing could be said. Finally she told me she'd be out in five. Somehow she managed to walk out of that room five minutes later, with nothing more than a badass attitude." He paused to see how Elliot was taking this in.
"Sometimes I wonder why I made the decision not to say goodbye, but then I think about how I would have influenced if I would have said goodbye the way I was," Elliot said looking down at Liv, with a grief-stricken expression. "Even then, she wouldn't let anyone see her cry."
"I know, so after that she had to adjust to an entire new team. At this point, it was an unspoken rule that we couldn't say your name for Liv's sake so everyone referred to you as her 'old partner' if need be. Even after everything she would never bad talk you and she would always defend you when you were brought up. Olivia has not been the same since you left though, like I haven't seen her laugh the way you used to make her. Two years after you left William Lewis happened, Munch left, and then Don left all in the same year."
Elliot had his head in his hands, listening to Fin. How did she keep herself together? "Till this day I still have no idea how she is as strong as she is," Elliot said. Suddenly Elliot thought of something that he needed to know. "What exactly happened with Lewis?" he asked Fin. She wasn't ra-, no, there was no way.
"Well, if you're thinking what I assume you're thinking, the answer is no. However, she did have to go through the trauma of a rape kit, since she was unconscious for a good amount of time that she was with him. Sure she had Cassidy, but Munch, Cragen, and I knew he wasn't the person that she needed, nor the type of person able to handle seeing her like that. To keep you from the details that would make you want to rip your ears off she was basically tortured, mentally and physically, beaten, and abducted for over two days. She then managed to subdue him and call us, but I still saw the disappointment in her eyes when she realized you weren't there. My prediction of the whole Cassidy situation proved to be right because she seemed to be shutting everyone out, especially since he was almost always working during her recovery. But, yea, she had it rough, she reacted even as a victim by cutting most of her hair off because 'she didn't feel clean,' Even the times that Cassidy was around, she was a mess. One day when she went home to her apartment, Cassidy hadn't told her he was there so she heard movement in her apartment, withdrew her gun, and panicked, only to be caught off guard by Brian." Fin sighed. "At least now she has Noah, otherwise known as 'BabyBenson' who she is fostering as of a few months ago."
"Please tell me the guy is rotting in prison for life, at the very least," Elliot huffed out, gripping his hands together so tightly that he was sure they would be bruised later.
"Better, he's dead," Fin explained," But the bastard killed himself when he was a foot from her face."
"I'm pretty sure I am one of the last to say this, but I am so glad he's dead. It saves me a visit to prison," Elliot said, earning a smile and a nod from Fin. Another thought crossed his mind. "Wait, so with Don and John gone, that means that Liv…"
"…Is commanding officer of the squad, yea," Fin finished, just as his phone began ringing. "Hold on a sec," Fin said as he answered it.
"Fin," he greeted the caller. Pause. "Carisi!? Are you kidding me?! Are Nick and Amanda back yet?!" Pause again. "I leave you alone for not even an hour and look what happens!" Longer pause. "Yea, yea, you didn't do it. Okay I'm coming back right now. Just don't touch anything." He hung up and swore something along the lines of sending him back to the island. "Sorry Stabler, even though I'd love to stay and chat, I gotta go check on the newbie," he said getting up and sprinting his way to the door. When he reached the door he turned back around and pointed at him. "Oh and don't say anything stupid to her," he demanded.
"Got it, bye Fin," Elliot replied and with that Fin vanished into the hallway.
With Liv asleep and Fin gone, Elliot was alone to his thoughts. Man, Liv really has gone through hell and back. And to think I was part of the reason that she was abducted. He looked down at a Liv who thankfully seemed to be sleeping in peace. He picked up one of her tiny hands into his and brought it up to his mouth, and planted a small kiss on it. "Never again," Elliot stated, "Never again."
He knew that she probably would have wanted him to wake her up, but she looked so calm and he guessed that she hadn't been sleeping a lot lately, so he decided to let her rest for ten more minutes, that way her food wouldn't get too cold. For the next five minutes, Elliot just played with Olivia's fingers in his own hand. Noah, huh? That's a cute name. I always knew Liv would be a mother one way or another. She was always so worried about becoming her own mother, but she's never realized she's nothing like her. He glanced at her and before he knew it, he was tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Deciding he should wake her up now, he grabbed her arm and softly shook her, "Liv, Olivia," he whispered. Slowly, her eyes began to open and she yawned. When she realized Elliot was right in front of her there was a split second of confusion, but then she remembered and sat up, followed by Elliot.
"Fin stopped by and dropped off your dinner," Elliot told her, handing her the bag. "He also filled me in on the past four years," he said, letting her know that he had more knowledge on what had happened.
"Oh," Olivia said, while placing the bag on her lap.
"Yea," Elliot said, matching her single- worded response. Olivia looked at her watch.
"Maybe you should tell me about what happened now," Olivia said, changing the subject, "We still have to find who is after you." Elliot hesitantly nodded. "Okay," she said and got up to sit down and face him.
