chapter 21: from this valley
The next day Nick kept his promise to Mia of having a day of nothing which is how they spent their Sunday, since they spent the morning in bed talking about things and then later got up to have a late lunch while watching movies on the couch wrapped in a blanket. Mia wore a long baggy green tee that said 'geek', black leggings, white ankle socks with skulls on them and a grey hoodie. She wore her hair in a messy bun, her glasses and zero make up since there was no point in wearing any as Nick was the only one she was going to see and he didn't care whether or not she was wearing make up. They had tried to avoid all discussions concerning his mother or the baby, Mia couldn't help but feel like she was just as bad as the council were for taking a baby from her mother like they had done with her. All day Mia had felt slightly nauseous which is why she had decided to not drink any coffee which surprised Nick since she practically lived on coffee so strong that a spoon can stand on it. They were currently sitting on the floor by the table playing a game of poker but instead of using poker chips they were using jelly beans since she was had a large supply of jelly beans.
"so all day I've been really good at not mentioning the thing that we're not talking about but I have been wondered where your mom is and if she's ok? I'll raise you four red jelly beans" she said pushing forward her jelly beans out of the small collection that she had collected in front of her on the table, hers was considerably smaller than his larger pile
" well knowing my mom, she'll be far away and has probably taught the baby how to fight against the biggest most baddest wesen there is" he said wondering if she still knew how to do mom things that she used to with him like reading a bedtime story or bake cookies since it had so long since she had actually been a mom and even then she had left him with his aunt
"what do you think she going to do with the baby?" she asked putting her cards down as they abandoned their games and began to eat the jelly beans, although she sorted her pile into colours before eating her favourites which were the red ones as she reached and took a sip of her tea
"probably what my aunt Marie did with me, move around a lot" he said remembering how they had never stayed in the same place for any longer than two months since he figured a wesen or two would work out where they were and would come to attack them which would be the same for his mom and Diana
"Nick, this baby is going to be nothing like you. I mean she is going to attract way more attention than you ever did and she is going to more powerful than most" she said sitting on the couch as she gestured for him to come and join her as she fixed the blanket around her again and fixed the pillows so that her head was resting on them as she sat up, he could tell that she was getting tired
" yeah I think its safe to day that this baby is not going to be like anyone else in this world" he said as he reached over towards her as gently stroked her ankle with her thumb, he knew that there was something going on with her since she seemed to coming down with something but in the year that they had been dating she had never once got ill
"you know its kinds hard to believe that a baby that small and cute could be as a big deal as everyone is making her out to be-" she said as there was a knock on the door causing them both to pause as Mia began to detangle herself from her blanket to get up before Nick stopped her
" no its ok, I'll get it…. Its Adalind" he said as got up to get the door after giving her a kiss on top of her head, he looked through the little window above their door to see the tiny blonde that had costed them so much pain in their lives
"wait what? why would she be here? oh no, do you think she knows what we did?" Mia said as she got up from the couch in a panic as she threw the blanket behind her on the couch as she began to wonder how she could have worked out what they had done, she hoped that they would be able to reason with Adalind but she doubted it would work
" I need your help, can I come in? Sean gave her away" she asked teary eyed, Mia could tell that she had probably spent the whole day crying about how Renard had given their baby away to Victor, although it was better that she didn't know the truth about who had her baby and what they were going to do with her
"what are you talking about?" Nick said as he gave Mia a look to tell her to pretend that she didn't know what had happened with baby Diana, he figured that it was better to keep up the ruse and pretend they knew nothing so that they could keep it all a secret
"he gave my baby to Victor and I need your help to get her back" she said trying her hardest not to cry again, she still couldn't believe that her baby's father had been able to give his own little baby girl away to someone who wanted to use. After everything they had done to keep Victor away from Diana and he had just handed her over to him
"Adalind why don't you come and sit down? I can make you some coffee or tea or make you something to eat if you want?" Mia said as she tucked a piece of her hair behind her ears, she wanted nothing more than try and make things a little better for her by doing such a small thing for her
" no I can't stay, I have to get my baby back. Nick you got get you mom out of jail, I know she killed my mom and I don't care even though it was kinda my fault but I just really need to get my baby back" she said knowing that she was rambling a little as she tried to stress how important it was that Diana stayed with her and not with Victor, she knew that she had a lot of bad things in her life but none of that mattered now that she had her
"they released them this morning, there wasn't enough evidence to hold her" Nick said trying to come up with a reasonable excuse as to why his mom wasn't there anymore, despite the fact that she was actually released the night before and was probably long gone by now
"is she here? I have to talk to her" she said looking around the room before heading towards the kitchen as she thought that maybe Kelly was hiding another room thinking she might kill her for what she did to her mom, she knew that she was the one person that could help her
" she's not here, she left already" Mia said stopping her in her tracks as she turned back towards them, she knew that she would eventually have to join in with the lies since she had been part of the whole plan to get Diana from Victor and that it her voice that he would probably recognise if they ever met again
"yeah she left right after they let her go, she didn't want to stick around after everything that had happened" he said knowing that it sounded believable to anyone who didnt know his mom who would be more likely to kill Adalind before she got the chance to kill her
"then you have to get her back, she'll help me" she said wanting him to just say yes and help her like he had helped so many wesen people before, she also knew that she had so many things to hurt him like putting his partner into a deep sleep and putting Juliette into a coma which caused her to forget Nick
"Adalind, there's one thing that you have to understand about my mother once she leaves…she doesn't come back" he said knowing that it was true despite the many stories his mom had told him about always keep an eye on him and that she had asked Marie for daily reports on how he was doing
"you have find her" she said wondering why he was making this so difficult for her, despite their difference she had hoped that he would have helped her prevent her baby from being raised by someone other than her mom like he was
" she doesn't tell anyone where she's going" he said trying to make it clear that he wasn't going to help her anytime soon or at least that he couldn't help her, if their plan was going to work then Adalind could never find out the truth or find out where she was
"then you have to help me!" she said knowing that if it were anyone else that had lost their baby then he would help them in an instant without them needing to beg him to help them, she wanted to shake him and tell him that her baby was an innocent even if she wasn't
"Adalind, trust me if the Royals have your baby, they wouldn't still be here." Mia said stepping forward as she tried to make it clear that there was no way they could help even if they wanted to, Nick placed a gent hand on her arm to warn her that she had to be careful since Adalind was still dangerous
"I'm not giving up my baby!" she said woging as Nick pulled Mia back before she could have the chance to woga too, he knew that if they both woged then things were about to get worse very fast, plus things would get broken and he'd be picking the pieces from their fight later
" There's nothing we can do, Adalind." he said thinking the only way to convince her of that was just to come out and say it even if it was going to make her more anger than she was already, she began to woga back to her normal state before finally accepting that she was alone in this
"Well, I'm not doing nothing." she said as she turned to walk out the door before slamming it behind her, Mia felt bad that she couldn't help her find her baby since she would hate to be in her position but still in the end this was what was best for everyone
"I'm not entirely sure she'd make a great mother." he said wondering what sq he could have taught her baby girl to do, he imagined it would have something to do with broomsticks or black pointed hats while they made potions to hurt unsuspected people.
" I probably shouldn't say this since I was the one that handed the baby over to Sean but I actually feel bad for her, even if she did just woga in my house without my premission" she said before Nick pulled her in for a much needed hug, she figured that she might make some kind of sign saying that you only woged if she did too or if she allowed them too
The next day was an early start for Mia as she heard Nick beginning to get ready she suddenly felt sick as she ran to the bathroom to spill the contents of her stomach as soon as she finished she began to brush her teeth and begin to get ready for the day. Nick silently handed her phone as he urged once more to phone sick into work since she was clearly coming down with something whether or nor she wanted to admit, he had a feeling that she was one of these sick people would keep going on pretending that they weren't sick despite what their body was telling them. Mia got changed into a pair of jeans, a white tank top, a rose pink sweater, knee high brown boots, a red double breasted coat and a pick scarf. She left her hair in its normal wavy style since she wasn't in the mood to anything special with it, she wore brown smoky eye makeup and bright rose pink lipstick. Mia grabbed her brown bag to make sure she had everything she needed before grabbing her car keys and headed to Rosalee's so that she could grab something that help with her nausea and her sickness. As soon as she walked into the old spice shop she knew that something was wrong with Rosalee since she was rearranging everything in her shop, she only reorganised things when something was playing on her mind
" Rosalee? whats going on?" she asked playful as she placed her bag on the counter and headed into the back room to make some tea from them since it seemed that Rosalee needed something to calm her down a little
" I have a Hexenbiest problem, Adalind is currently sleeping on our couch. She came to us for help to find Diana since apparently you guys wouldn't so there that… wait shouldn't you be at work?" she asked as she checked her watch to make sure it wasn't late enough for Mia to be finished work for the day, she gladly took the cup that Mia was offering her as she suddenly realised that she was tired
" we should have known she wasn't just going to give up so easily and yeah I should be but Nick forced me to call in sick" she said taking a sip of her tea as she began to read the list of items that Rosalee had written to remind her that she need to order more of it, Rosalee stood up and headed over to counter where Mia was standing
" wait you're sick? you seem fine to me, are you ok?" she asked wondering what was wrong with the young female who had become her sister and was her future sister in law, she knew that Monroe and Mia were rarely due to their immune systems being so strong
" not really, I mean all day yesterday I felt really nauseation then this morning I was sick but now I feel fine or close to it. Im thinking its a 24 hour thing" she said not wanting to make a big deal of it, she hated when everyone began to treat you like you were sick and began to force you to rest and what not
" here, make this into a tea and drink ok? It should help with the nausea and sickness but I think you should go to the doctors too, just to be on the safe side" she said as she handed her a small bag filled with Glorious Ginger since she knew that it was the best she could offer her, she shook her head to tell that it was on her
" I will as soon as I know that its not a 24 hour thing or as soon as Nick forces me too…so what are you going to about Adalind?" she said as she wondered how they were going to help her find Diana without revealing that they were part of the plan to take her away from her
" I don't know, Monroe called Nick to ask but all he said was to just keep her there for as long as we could. I've been hiding out here fro hours and Monroe left to help Nick out with a case so who knows if she even still there" she said she gave a slight shrug as she took another sip of her tea as the door gave a small ding noise to let them know so had entered the shop, they turned to see that Monroe was walking towards them looking rather shocked and tired
" with luck she won't be…hey whats up with you? you look like you've seen a ghost or something?" she said trying to work out what kind of case would cause him to have that kind of reaction, the best she could come up with is that it might have involved someone from their past
"not a ghost but what are the chances there is another grimm in town?" he said after trying to think of a way to tell them about Trubel or at least a way of slowly introducing the idea of there being another grimm somewhere out there in Portland
" wait what? another grimm? I'm guessing that was what Nick needed help with?" Rosalee asked as she went into the backroom to get him a cup of coffee since it seemed like he needed it after everything he had just been through, he leaned against the counter while Mia tried to get her head around it all
" and I guessing by your reaction they're nothing like our friendly grimm Nick?" she asked knowing that if this new grimm was a case then they had have murdered someone for Portland police department to take notice of them, she had a feeling that whoever they had killed was wesen
"no she is everything that our parents told us about grimms. while we were on trail she killed a Lausenschlange, Klaustreich, Skalengeck and she tried kill me too when I woged in front of her and saw her eyes" he said trying to give them the bigger details without telling the whole messy story, he could that both Mia and Rosalee were surprised as well as unnerved by the fact there was a dangerous grimm out there
" where is she now?" Rosalee asked wondering how he was able to walk away from her when so many others were killed before they got the chance, although she figured that Nick and Hank were probably with him
" at the prescient in a cell, Nick and Hank arrested her but they aren't really sure what to do with her now since none of this was ever explained to her but she still killed people" he said trying to show them the dilemma that they were in since they wanted to protect of one of their own but it was harder to do when the evidence was stacked against her
" just when things were beginning to settle down something else comes up. Thanks for the remedy Rosalee, I'll let you know if it works or not ok?" she said as she drank the rest of her tea and grabbed her things as she began to form a plan and a speech in her head as she began to dig through her bag for her keys
" wait remedy? why are you getting a remedy from Rosalee? are you sick?" he asked as he began to worry about his little sister, throughout their lives Monroe and Mia rarely got sick due to their strong immune systems that Blutbaden were born with
" its nothing just a little bit of sickness, nothing to worry about big bro" she said as she reached up towards him and gave him a kiss on his cheek before heading out to her car so that she could head towards the prescient before Nick or Hank made a decision about the new grimm in their lives
Mia decided to stop off at the nearest coffee shop so that she could pick up some coffee for her, Nick and Hank as a way of sweeten them up before she began to get why she was there and why it couldn't wait until he got home that night. She knew what it was like to see things that you couldn't really explain, she figured it had to be worst for this female grimm since every wesen she would have seen would have tried to attach once they had seen her eyes and realised what she was. Once she was inside the prescient, she exchanged polite words with the man at the front desk before explaining that she was here to see Nick then headed up to his floor as she hoped that she made on time before they decided what to do with the new grimm. She was both pleased and relieved when she saw Nick at his desk looking through something that must have been evidence for his case since he was blue gloves that usually meant that he was trying to prevent his fingerprints being on the book he was reading. She sat down on the chair next to his desk as she handed him his cup of coffee before placing Hanks on his desk then placing her bag on the floor
" hey babe, what are you doing here? not that I don't love seeing you, actually I think seeing you is just what I needed right now" he said moving his chair so it was closer to her as he placed a hand on her knee which she covered with her own hand, she could tell that this was hard for him and that he was thinking that if things had been different then this could have been him
" I wanted to talk to you about the newest grimm in town, Monroe stopped by the shop while I was there getting something from Rosalee. He told me everything that happened or at least the abridge version" she said with a smile as she tried to cheer him up a little with a joke, she took a sip of coffee as she welcomed the familiar taste of the comforting caffeine
"Mia, I don't know what to do about her I mean technically she killed multiply people but I'm having my doubts about charging her. Especially after reading her diary which is basically another grimm book" he said showing Mia the book without her actually touching it and putting her prints all over it, she could see the different draws of the wesen that she had seen and killed
"I know its harder because your a cop and there's certain ways of doing things but this girl needs you Nick, she never had anyone to explain this to her like Monroe did with you and she never had her aunt trailer filled with grimm history books" she said trying to explain to him why he needed to do everything he could to help her figure out where she sat with the whole wesen things rather than keep swinging her swords blind
"yeah thats true, from reading that its clear that she just thought that she was crazy and when I looked into her record I saw that she's been in and out of mental institutions all her life" he said moving his computer so that she could see Theresa Rubels file as she began to skim her eyes through it as she tried to pick on the bigger details such the amount of mental institutions and the fact that she was a foster kid
"if theres a way to get around the murder charges then I think you should" she said as if it was the easiest thing in the world but she knew that if he was going to listen to anyone about things then it would be her, she gently behind to draw circles on the back of his hand with her finger
" and do what with her?" he asked knowing that if she was bringing up him dropping the charges against Theresa then she must have plan of how they were going to deal with her once she was out, she never seemed to shy away from any situation he was in no matter how tough it was
" bring her home with you, you can teach her how to be the grimm you are and not to be afraid of us" she said showing him once again that her heart was pure and so full of goodness since she only ever wanted to help people, especially the people closest to the people she loved
" you would be ok with me bringing home a killer? knowing that she has probably killed dozens of wesen including blutbaden?" he asked wanting to check that she really wanted this before he made his final decision on what he was going to do, he didn't want to go through with something if he thought it would hurt later
" well I let your mother into the house right? I know that if things went south and she ended up trying to kill me then you would protect like you always have done before and I know that you'll be able to convince of your way of thinking" she said with a confidant smile as she leaned towards him as she pulled him into a loving but gent kiss to show him how much she trusted and loved him
Mia then gave him one last kiss as she grabbed her bag and her goodbyes before she left him to make the decision on what to do about Theresa, she decided to grab some dinner from the local Chinese restaurant for her and Nick since she still felt sick therefore wasn't in the mood to cook and Nick couldn't cook anything that would be editable. She began to let her mind wonder a little as she began to sort the food she had picked up into different plates as she though about how things were beginning to get a little blurred. The arrival of a new grimm meant that if the royals came to get revenge on them for taking the baby away from them then they would be that bit stronger then without her, with every passing Mia grew more paranoid that Victor was going to figure out that she was german speaking female that demanded that he had over then baby. She knew that he wouldn't be above coming at her to get back at Nick and the others. Mia was pulled out of her train of thought as she heard the door close, she figured it was Nick coming home from the prescient
"Nick? You're just in time, I picked up some Chinese food on my way home" she said calling to him as she continued to scoop the food into different bowls and plates, she knew it would be a while before he entered the kitchen since he always got rid of his badge and gun safely before he didn't anything else
" well I hope you got a lot… Mia, this is Theresa Rubel" he said once she had come out of the kitchen to see what was going on, he stepped aside so that she could see the short haired female that he had welcomed into their home
"no one calls me Theresa, they call me Trubel" Trubel said knowing that she couldn't stand anyone calling her by her real name when she had always hated it and wasn't all that used to being Theresa, Trubel was a name that suited her much better since it was something always found her
"Trubel might have to stay with us for a little while, she needs to lay low" he said hinting to the fact that he had failed to book her for murder so that he could bring her to the trailer then to their house, he knew that she was smart enough to figure out that he had made his decision on what to do about their grimm situation
" that's okay she can stay as long as she needs to, Nick can you help me bring with dinner?" she asked politely as she could, she didn't want to Trubel to think that they were talking about her but she also needed to talk to him alone about the finer details of his decision just so that they were clear
" ok so I listened to what you said before and decided to be her Monroe if thats a thing so me and Hank took her to the trailer which I think helped her in trusting me" he said once they were in the kitchen where Trubel wouldn't be able to hear them talking although they were still keeping their voice low just in case
" well it would have made things clearer for her I guess, do you know how you're going to teach all things grimm related? I mean Monroe taught you what you needed to know at the time" she said knowing that that might not work with Trubel, Mia could tell that nowTrubel knew what she was she would want to know as much as she could about it
" that I have figured out yet but I told her she could ask whatever she wants and that she can bring the books back here so that she could study them. I guess she could help out on the wesen cases" he said trying to work it all the details as he went along, he knew that Trubel's experience of wesen was different from how his and he wasn't sure hoe he could change her view on them
" if you need any help then I'm here, I mean I could train her how to fight against wesen and how to read the german parts of the books or maybe-" she began to suggest before he cut off by crashing his lips against hers as he began to tangle his hand in her mass of curls while Mia began to deepen the kiss
" you're remarkable!" he said an breathless whisper as they broke the kiss, he loved that he had the ability to get her smile no matter what was going on or how complicated things had gotten. He knew in that moment that she would always be on his side and try to help him in any way she could because thats what you do when you love someone
" well thank you for remarking on it….come on, the food is going to get cold soon" she said after giving him one more kiss then began to grab the plates and bowls that had food on them as he began to do the same as well as grab some cups and water for them all
" hey Trubel, foods ready" Nick said as they placed the last of the food onto the table, as soon as Trubel sat down she began to shovel her food down as if she was afraid that it was going to be taken away from her or that she might be interrupted before she got the chance to finish
" do you want seconds?" she asked with a friendly smile as she wondered where Trubel put away all that food since she was so thin but she could tell that the young female was fit and strong since she was able to kill three very powerful wesen
"so are all the grimms so normal?" Trubel asked as soon as Mia was out of the room, Nick realised in that moment that his life must have seemed so normal to her between having a loving girlfriend at home waiting for him with dinner and the dozens of photos of them around the house. Compared to her life on the run from everyone she feared, it must have seemed completely different
" you should meet my mother, she's been called a lot of things but normal isn't one of them" he said before taking drink from his glass of water as he realised that he was probably the abnormal one out of all the grimms in the world
"does that mean we're related?" she asked wondering if because they were both grimm if that meant that he was a hidden family member that she never knew about, after soon man years of dreaming about a hidden family member turning up and rescuing her from the system it seemed unreal
"maybe a few centuries ago, now its like a recessive gene" he said to her explaining the things that he had learned about the whole genetic grimm things, he figured that if he traced by his family roots they would probably lead back to Trubel's family eventually
" it must be relief to know that you're not only one though" Mia said as she placed her food in front of her as Trubel began to size her up as Mia sat back down on her chair next to Nick as she finished the last bit of her food that was left on her plate
"So you see these wesen things too?" she asked since it sound as though Mia had her few share of experience when it came to wesen which was true but Mia knew that if she exposed herself as blutbaden before Trubel was ready then things could go very wrong
"yeah but I'm not a Grimm….I'm actually wesen, blutbaden" she told her as she gave Nick a look to check whether or not it was okay to tell her, after he gave her a nod of approval she went ahead but loved the fact that he took hold of her hand to comfort her worries
" Blutbaden… thats the one that like a wolf right? I think I've came across a few of them, they never struck me as nice people" she said on the edge as she began to self concisely grabbed her knife in one hand as if Mia had suddenly become a threat to her
" Trubel put the knife down! Mia isn't going to hurt you, not all wesen are out to kill us. Actually a few of them are some of my closest friends including Mia's brother" he said taking the knife from her as he felt Mia began to relax a little once she realised that she wasn't in danger of being stabbed or beheaded any time soon
" and people just accept this? I mean I don't know a lot about grimms and wesen but all the wesen I've met have never really been accepting of me" she said wondering how they were able to have such a happy relationship when some many people seemed to hate grimms, she guessed that maybe they hid it from people
" not everyone likes the fact that we're together but the important people like our family have accepted and the others we can deal with when they raise their ugly heads…. Nick is right, I'm not going to hurt you I mean I have no reason to so you're safe here" Mia said wanting to make it clear that this was a safe environment from other wesen or from the police or anyone who might be out to get her
After dinner Mia headed into their bedroom where she gather a spare set of pyjamas for Trubel to wear in bed as well as some clothes that she figured might be her size and style then headed into the guest bedroom where Nick was showing Trubel where she would staying while she stayed with them.
" hey I grabbed a t-shirt and pair pants for you change into when you go to sleep and some extra clothes in case you need them" Mia said as she placed the pile of clothes on the truck at the end of the bed as she walked into the room, she was trying her hardest to show her that wesen had another side to them by being friendly
"I'll be fine with what I'm wearing" she said as she gestured to her t-shirt, she didn't want to put them out anymore than she already was as she knew what it was like to be in the way when no one wanted you to be there
"well I'll leave them there in case you change your mind and your welcoming to anything in my closest, just let me know. We'll be down the hall if you needs us ok?" she said with a smile as she placed a comforting hand on her arm before she headed back towards the hall where Nick was waiting for her by the door
" I won't but thank you for the Chinese and the clothes" she said figuring that if Mia was trying to make the effort with her being nice to her when she didn't have to then she would do the same since she hadn't done anything to prove otherwise
Once they were alone in their bedroom Mia got changed into a pair of black pyjama shorts with blue flowers, a blue t-shirt, a pair of grey ankle socks before climbing into bed next to Nick who was thankful that the day was finally over. Later that night she felt Nick untangle himself from her as he began to sneak out of the room and grab his jacket as he went outside to wait for Trubel when she would eventually try to sneak out of their house. A few minutes later she heard softer feet creeping down the hall which was then followed by quiet voices that were being carried from the porch where Nick and Trubel were discussing things. While she waited for Nick to come back into bed she could feel the now all too familiar feeling of nauseas begin to spread around her body as she suddenly got to the urge to throw up the contains of her stomach as she threw the covers off and sprang from the bed and headed into the bathroom. When Nick finally came to their bedroom he realised that Mia wasn't in bed where he left her, once he noticed the light from the bathroom spilling into the room through the small gap created by the half closed door. He sighed as he heard continue to be sick, he gently opened the door and grabbed one of her hair ties that were kept in the cabinet over the sink before gently placing her wavy hair into a loose ponytail to keep it out of the way. Once Mia was confident that she was finished emptying everything in her stomach she sluggishly pushed herself away from the toilet so that she could lean against the wall which felt cool against her hot skin, Nick decided to join her on the floor and sit next to her.
" babe I'm worried about you ok? I mean the last few days you've been sick more times than you have probably in your whole life" he said as she silently placed her clammy head on his shoulder, he could feel that she didn't have temptation which made the sickness seem even weirder
" I know but Rosalee's tea actually did help with the sickness and nausea for a while" she said hoping that would calm down some of his worries, although she knew him better than that once he had something in his head it was hard to convince him otherwise
"yeah well not enough for you to stop being sick, promise me that you'll go and see the doctor?" he asked her while on the verge of begging of her to go and see the doctor ti make sure that everything was okay with her, he couldn't copy if something were to happen to her
" its probably nothing Nick…but if it will stop you from worrying then I'll go tomorrow after work ok?" she said hoping that he wouldn't notice the fact that she had slipped in that she was going back to work tomorrow whether or not she feeling better, Nick got up and grabbed the glass of water that sitting on top of Nick's bedside table before heading back into the bathroom to give it to her
" I know you're only doing it to please me but I'll take the win anyway… I love you Mia" he said as he helped her up then pulled her close to him as she wrapped her arms around her waist as she buried her face into his shoulder as she breathed in his scent
" I love you too which is why I am going in the first place…why don't you head into and I'll join you once I've brushed my teeth?" she said as he ran his fingers through her ponytail and then pressed a kiss on top of her head before leaving in the bathroom alone with her thoughts as she began to think about the unthinkable
The next day once Mia had finished with her doctors appointment she headed back to the house where she began to make a snack for herself since Nick texted her to let her know that he and Trubel wouldn't be home for dinner and she was still feeling to sick for something big so she simply made herself a sandwich. Mia wore a blue and white floral blouse, high waisted jeans, blue high heels and a white cardigan. Her hair was swept to one side that was held together with blue hair pins, she had decided to wear enough eye makeup to enhance her eyes but not enough as she would usually wear and light pink lipstick. Mia decided to catch up on some housework that both her and Nick had began to neglect like the laundry and hoovering, she knew that if Nick caught her cleaning like she was then he would know something was on her mind and begin to press her on what it was before she was ready to tell him about her suspicions. By the time Nick and Trubel came home with some tense between them if the slamming doors were any indication, Mia was sitting on the bed playing catch from the day of work she had missed since she was now having to read the essay her classes wrote the day before. Nick came into their room slamming the door behind him before he noticed that Mia was sitting on the bed with her work spread on the bed with her red pen in hand as he headed over to their drawers where he placed his gun on top of it, Mia gave him a questioning look for him to clue her in on what was going on
" she's going to get herself killed" he said with a sigh as the realisation set in that no matter he did to help Trubel the damage was already, he couldn't undo the years she spent running from wesen that were trying to kill. She had spent too many years being hunted to learn anything different
"there's a learning curve to be a grimm remember, it wasn't easy for you either not at first" she said as she got from her place on the bed and went to where he was standing in the room, she knew from the stories both him and Monroe told her about how he was when he first realised what he was. She knew that finding something out like this was never an easy thing to deal with
" I know but most learning curves don't draw blood babe" he said knowing that she would get how big a deal this was for him since she shared his views on hurting and killing innocent people no matter whether they were wesen or not, being wesen was no excuse for grimms to hurt them with proper cause
"you never know what might happen, Trubel might choose a different life than this one" she said trying to show him that his way of being a grimm wasn't suited to every grimm since it meant going against their natural instincts which were to attack the people that posed a threat to them
"you know as well as I do that she always see them and you can't run from this, god knows we've both wanted to in the past" he said just as there was a knock at the door, Mia lovingly stroked his cheek with her thumb before headed towards the door to what Trubel wanted to talk to them about
"I screwed up tonight didn't I?" she said once she saw Nick, she knew that she probably took things further than Nick wanted her to go by stabbing the female in the neck with the knife in her shoe. It was instinct for her to simply kill the people who wanted her dead rather than knocking them with a few lucky punches
"wellyou found the girls so…" he said trailing off at the end as he tried to think of the good things that she had done throughout the night while she undercover, the good that she had done were slight over looked by the bad she had committed
"hey its okay I messed up, I'm just not used to being the hunter and I guess I got carried away. I need to know more, I hope you're still willing to teach me" she said leaning against the door frame as she tried to explain why it was so hard for her to do what he wanted earlier but wanted him to know that she was still willing to learn how to live the way he did and how to get life he had with Mia
" why don't we talk about it in the morning ok?" he said gently not wanting her to know that he had already forgiven her, she needed to learn that certain things were unacceptable to him like hurting people they didn't have to simply because they were against who they were or who wanted them dead
" ok, it looks like you could use some sleep" she said before closing the door behind her, she knew that she had to show him that she was willing to change and learn how he did things. She could that he needed time to work her out some more and learn who she was before he met her
"well that answer that question right? she knows she's in the wrong here and I'm sure that it took a lot of effort for her to come here and admit that" she said with a knowing smile that told him that she was right about this, he started to take his coat off and secure his gun in the drawer of his bedside table
" yeah like I know and I get why she did what she did but she needs to know that she can't do things like that" he said as he sat down on the bed as she began to clear her things away and placed them back in her box filled with all her work stuff since it was easier to carry a box than a really heavy bag
" you're guilt tripping her, how very grown up of you" she said mockingly as she took off her shoes before climbing over the bed to where he was so that she could begin massage his shoulder since she knew he would tense after what sounded like a stressful night
" hey how was your doctors appointment?" he said realising that he hadn't asked about it yet as he was temporarily distracted what was going on with Trubel and night events, he knew that she was gladly talk about the minor issues in their lives rather talk about the more important things like her health
" it was fine, he took a note of my symptoms and took some blood so that he could run a couple of test just to be on the safe side. He said that he would call me in a couple of days with the results, see nothing to worry about" she said as she began to kiss his neck as a way of distracting him as he began to wonder why the doctor felt a blood test was needed to work out what was wrong with her and whether or not it was a bad sign
" well we'll see in a few days and deal with it then" he said as he twisted round so that she was on straddling him as he began to deep their kiss before she pushed him down so that he was laying on top of the bed
