chapter 22: oh henry
It had been a few weeks since Trubel had come to stay with Mia and Nick, so far she was beginning to understand how Nick dealt with wesen related things and how it was an improvement on the way she had previously dealt with things after so many years on the run from who she was. Mia had invited Monroe and Rosalee to come for dinner one night so that they could discuss things for the wedding was soon approaching as it was happening in a few days, she had always thought it was about time that Trubel begin to socialise and get to know other wesen than her. Mia was wearing a mint green dress that was pulled in at the waist with an attached belt which was tied into a bow, an off white blazer and off white heels. She had created two braids on either side of her hair with two section curled and framing her face while the rest of her was twisted into a bun, she wore lightly smoked eye makeup and peach pink glossy lipstick. Whenever Monroe and Rosalee came over for dinner Mia was grateful since they always insisted to help with the food as she was used to doing it by herself, although Nick was trying to learn as much as he could from her and usually tried to help as much as he could without burning everything before they got the chance to eat it. They were currently in the kitchen finishing off dinner while Mia and Rosalee discussed the finer details of the wedding to insure that everything in place and sorted for Saturday.
"the venue is all set with cake by the way" Mia said to Rosalee as she placed something on the table before heading back to the kitchen where the men were currently trying to look too busy to be involved in their conversation but in reality Nick was simply stirring what Mia had already cooked and Monroe was making sure the wine glasses were clean
"did they get playlist for the reception?" she asked remembering that she had sent Mia the final section of songs that her and Monroe had agreed on with the help of Mia and Nick, Rosalee walked over to the where the salad was and began to toss it to make sure the dressing was covering it all
" yeah and the place cards are ready so they just need to be picked up, I can do that tomorrow since I pass it on my way" she said as she grabbed a bowl for Nick to pour the pasta into while she held it steady, she had decided to simple make penne pasta in a tomato sauce without any meat since it was easier but she had put a lot of herbs and seasoning into it like
" no its ok, I can do it" Rosalee said suddenly feeling bad that Mia was doing all of this for their wedding, she realised that it might seem like she was taking advantage of Mia's good nature but she knew that Mia was all to happy to help
" its fine I've got it, like I said I pass the card place on my way home so making one stop on the way won't be a problem for me ok?" she said as she placed the serving spoon into the large bowl before grabbing it so that she could take it to the dining table for them all to serve themselves
"wow you're doing all of that?" Monroe asked worried that she was doing too much between her duties for the wedding and her work which had increased due to finals and the summer coming up in a few months, he knew that she was still waiting for test results from the doctor to come back. He didn't want it all to begin to affect her health anymore than it was already
" its all part of my service as the sister-in-law to be and as the best maid of honour ever" she said with a smile so that he would take the hint that she was handling it all with grace, she knew that he was implying that she was doing too much like she had habit of doing when things were becoming too much for her
" There'd be no wedding without Mia, she has been a lifesaver recently and I couldnt have done anything of this without her" Rosalee said as she gent gave Mia's shoulders a tight squeeze from behind before she headed to the fridge to grab a couple of things for the table before entering the dining room
" Wait a minute. What about the groom? Don't you need me?" he said as he joked over the importance of either him or his sister but he knew she was right about Mia being their saving grace when it came to planning their very quick wedding in the few short months since they had gotten engaged
" Oh, for certain things." Rosalee said teasing him as they settled everything for dinner, she still couldn't believe that this all happening as fast as it was but glad that it was since it meant that she would soon be Monroe's wife
" don't get me started on how unfair men and women have it when it comes to weddings. Guys have it easy, all Nick has to do is not lose the ring and make a speech."Mia said as she opened the bottle of wine and began to pour into their glasses, she wished that she had only two things she had do but being busy kept her mind on other things like her pending test results
"What ring? What speech?….Yeah, yeah, I got the ring." Nick said joking before all of three of them gave him a look of pure death as Mia considered throwing something at him, he could tell that this wedding meant a lot to her as it did to Monroe and Rosalee. It meant that her family was coming together as well as the fact that her parents were finally being to civil to both her and Nick now
"And what about the toast?" Monroe said prompting him into giving them an update what the current status of his speech since it was the only other thing he had to do at the wedding, apart from remember to bring his sunglasses to prevent any woged wesen from seeing his grimm eyes
" don't worry, It's getting there." he said trying to reassure him without giving them any details of what was in his speech like how he mentioned the fact that they had given him hope of the kind of love he could have with Mia when he had just about given up on the idea of being with someone else after everything with Juliette
" you're being vague, I don't like it when you're vague" Mia said as she narrowed her eyes at him as she tried to work out what he was up to and why he was being so very vague where he was at with his speech, she had finished her maid of honour speech weeks ago and no worries about letting him know that she was done before him
"well It better be there by Saturday!" Monroe warned him knowing that if it wasn't then Nick would have to deal with the wrath of his girlfriend and Rosalee, Mia would chew him up if she thought that he wasn't pulling his weight with the wedding and doing his part as the best man
"Saturday. This Saturday?….. Nobody gets me, Trubel dinner's ready…..you know what I'll go and get her" he said as everyone turned to give him a long staring look before he told them that he was joking as he rubbed Mia's shoulders before giving her gentle kiss on her right shoulder, it was his way of telling her that she was becoming too stressed and tensed about the wedding
" how are you copying with having not one but two grimms in the house now?"Monroe asked once Nick was out of the room, he worried that having two of them in the house was becoming too much for her more so since one of them was used to killing wesen without asking any questions like Nick does
" honestly its been ok, I mean she kinda keeps to herself most of the time but her and Nick tend to bump heads a lot on her involvement in wesen related cases" she said as they all sat down at the table as they waited for Nick and Trubel to join them at the table so that they could begin to eat since she was hungry, lately it was as if she was never full
"sorry, was everyone waiting for me? I guess I have to get used to this right?" Trubel asked once she walked into the dining room and seen everyone sitting down waiting to eat, Rosalee was glad that she made herself known when did since she was about to say something about Trubel spending most of her life thinking that she was crazy rather than knowing the truth about what she was
" do you like spaghetti?" Rosalee asked Trubel out of politeness as Mia began to pass the bowl of spaghetti around the table after putting some onto to her plate then adding some salad to it before digging in, it seemed like the pasta was exactly what she was craving at that moment
" no… I love spaghetti" she said as she began to heap some of the pasta onto her plate as they watched in awe, they all knew that Trubel's eating habits were a result of her previous living style where there was long periods of time between her meals so she used to stock piling her food in case it was her last for a while
" well wait till you try Mia's spaghetti, every other one was taste like rubbish compared to her special tomato sauce that she uses" Monroe told as he encouraged her to try it as they all began to tuck into their food, he glanced at Mia to see her giving him a knowing smile since it was him who had taught her how to cook before she moved away for school
" Trubel can I say something? I know I don't know you all that well yet but I have to say that your handling all of this really well considering how difficult this must have been for you" Rosalee said to Trubel knowing that finding out that you were different from everyone else in the work was never an easy thing to go through but for Trubel it was more that, it was finding out that the things she had seen were real and not just in her head like she previously thought
"well I didn't really expect to live this long" she said knowing that her live had been far from easy even before she began to see people's wesen nature, she had always in and out of foster care homes as a kid which had forced her to grown up faster than a normal child. Her confession seemed shock everyone into making small talk
" do you want some more?" Mia asked with a smile since she could tell that Trubel had enjoyed her spaghetti and the sauce since she was now practically licking the plate as she tried to scoop up the last drizzle sauce that was left on her plate, Mia knew by that now that Trubel had an healthy appetite which meant she usually ate a lot more than someone her size would usually eat
" sure…by the way Monroe, you were right Mia's special spaghetti is amazing" she said trying to make an effort with the people around the table since they had been nothing but nice to her, especially after she had tried to kill Monroe when he woged and saw her grimm eyes when they first met
" thanks…. oh I'll get it for you" Mia said as she took her plate from her and began to head to the kitchen after giving Nick's hand a quick squeeze, she took the minute alone to compose herself and swallow down the feeling of nausea that was beginning to raise its ugly head again. She could Rosalee asking Trubel the question that everyone wanted to know
"do you remember the first time you saw a wesen?" Rosalee asked wondering if all her experiences with wesen were as bad as they seemed, she knew that they were working hard to convince that not all wesen were out to get her and that she could actually trust some of them like Nick did
"I remember, it was in of the fosters home that I was living in at the time" she said remembering that day in full detail as it had just happened to her, it was as though they were forever burned into her memory. It was funny because she had always pinpointed that as the moment that had changed everything in her life and became more aggressive and violent
"I was 13 when I found out that I was a Fuchsbau" she said sympathetically as her way of telling her that they all kinda knew what she was going through in terms of finding out something new about themselves, although it was different for Nick and Trubel since they found out when they adults and the others had found after puberty except for Mia who found out when she was younger
" I wish I had found out when I was that age since it might have changed somethings but umm I was eight when I first woged" Mia said as she came back into the room with Trubel's plate now filled with spaghetti, once she had sat down Nick cover her hand that was resting on the table with her and began to stroke it with his thumb to comfort her as he knew she would be thinking about the council and Ethan
" wait you guys didn't know?" she asked wondering how their parents could live with them for so many years without telling them but it seemed to be the way things were done, she still found it interesting whenever she heard a new piece of information that she may not have found out if she hadn't met Nick
"well you don't really know when you're a kid, it kinda gets you when your older although some peek early like Mia did but at least we had family that were able to talk us through it all" Monroe said knowing that it must have been a hard thing for her to find out when she was so young and alone, it was no wonder that she felt that she wasn't going to have much of a future or a chance of survival
" you really didn't have anyone to help you through this?" she asked as Trubel shook her head to signal a no as she found it too hard to say, Rosalee began to wonder how anyone would be able to copy with seeing the thing thats she must have seen without any sort of explaintation from anyone that would make sense
"when did you find out?" Nick asked wanting to hear about her first time since it was a memory that kinda stuck with you as he could still remember his first time where they had found the postman out in the middle of nowhere keeping a little girl under the floor so that he could make a meal out of her later. It was also the first time he had met Monroe since he had believed him to be the suspect before they had discovered the postman
" there was this guy who used to fix things around the house and he was always really nice to me until one day he asked me to help in the garage. He grabbed me and I saw his face change, he pushed me down to the floor but I was so scared by what I saw that I just grabbed the first thing that I could. It was a screwdriver and really all I wanted to do was push him away from me….he didn't die or anything but he did get off me really fast though so…" she said trailing of the end so that she could take a minute to compose her emotion since she could feel the tears begin to fill her vision, everyone around the table were silent as they took her story in
"was that the first time that you had very seriously hurt someone?" Mia asked knowing that you always remembered the first time that you realised what you were capable of, she knew that she was probably the only one around the table that could somehow relate to her and what she went threw as a kid
" yeah, it was also the first time that I've heard anyone saying the word grimm. I told everyone about what I saw and that was the first time they locked me up, they thought I was lying and when I said I wasn't they said I had to be crazy so… yeah I got pretty used to be called crazy. Until I met all of you guys and I realised I wasn't alone" she said stunning them into silence as they let her story sink, Mia was glad that she was able to find some sort of goodness in middle of the mess that had become her life. Just then the phone began to ring so Mia decided to get up and get it since she was closest
"I'll get it babe…. Hello…yeah can I ask who's calling… hey he's said that he needs to talk to you but you don't know him?" Mia said in a hushed voice so that the guy on the other line wouldn't be able to hear as she covered up the speaker and handed him the phone as she sat back down
"does that happen a lot? you know random people calling you guys?" Monroe asked suddenly wondering whether or not things might one day get worse and instead of a innocent phone call it could be an attack on the house and Nick, he recently worried more about Mia then he had over the years that she was at the council
"sometimes people find out where Nick lives and decide to call him rather than the prescient since they sometimes feel safer with him….. did he give you his name?" she asked Nick once he had placed the phone back where it belonged before joining them back at the table, he didn't seem to worried about anything so Mia took it as a good sign that nothing was up just yet
" no but sometimes people get cold feet about whatever it is they want to tell me, if its something than whoever it is will probably call again" he said trying to reassure them that nothing was wrong just yet, they were all hoping that Nick's case would light or empty until the wedding had been so that they didn't interfere with Monroe's and Rosalee's big day
The next day Mia had left for work in a hurry as she had over slept due to her alarm going to snooze to many times before it had decided to turn itself off which was why she had left her lunch behind in the fridge, so when it came around to her free period before lunch she had decided to head home to grab it. Mia wore a printed pale pink shirt with a white tank top underneath it, beige pants, a beige tote bag, a tangerine coloured blazer with a pink and white scarf and heels in the same tangerine colour. Since Mia had been running that morning and had been to tired to undo her hair before bed she had kept her the two braids on either side of her hair in and decided to pin back the two front sections that were framing the night before while leaving the rest wavy. She wore light brown eyeshadow with dark black eyeliner that made her eyes pop more than usual and pale pink lip gloss. As soon as she got home she spotted Trubel on the couch as she took notes of the things that was reading in one of Nick's books from the trailer, Mia quickly made Trubel some lunch since she knew all to well that you could easily forget to eat when you were caught up in something. Once everything was ready, Mia poured her and Trubel some coffee before heading over towards the couch where Trubel was still sitting reading her book while distractedly playing with her chess piece in her other hand
" hey I made you something to eat and I forgot to mention this morning but Nick's old bike out on the front porch if you need to go somewhere and neither of our cars are here for you to borrow. You could even take it out for a spin on your next break" Mia suggested as she hinted at the fact that she knew Trubel hadn't had a break in a while, she knew what it was like to be caught up in whatever it was she was doing and how easy it was to forget about things like eating and sleeping
" thanks for this and the bike, I might just do since I'm probably overdue getting some fresh air" she said as she placed the book next to her so that she could still read it while taking a big bite out of the chicken mayo sandwich that Mia had made her, she loved how nice and motherly Mia was towards her despite that there were only a few years between them age wise
"do you like to play chess? I'm sure I have an old board so where around here that you could play with" she said remembering all the times in her childhood where she had played chess and how much it had taught her, although she was never really a big lover of the game to continue playing it on a regular basis
" not really but thank you" she said politely not sure whether or not she should tell the real reason why she carried the chess piece around with her everywhere she went, being on the run like she was all the time it meant that she had only a few items that she owned but they usually carried more perennial value for her
"then why do you carry it around with you if you don't mind me asking?" she said realising that it might appears that she was being pushy or noisy when in reality she was just curious, there was so much about Trubel that they still didn't know and Mia knew that if they were going to help her then they had get to know her better
"I like the way it moves, you know different from another piece on the board" she said as Mia sat down on the couch as began to drink her coffee up while it was still steaming hot, she could see how Trubel felt that she and the chess piece in her hand had things in common as they were both different another piece or person in their game
" what about queen? I mean she's can move anyway she wants" she said knowing that it wasn't her favourite chess piece on the board but could easily see the appeal in the Queen, she had always personally felt that the Queen was overrated and was too flash and obvious to win the game
"oh I like the queen, she saved my life once. I jammed her into a Coyotl, is that how you pronounce it? well I jammed her into a Coyotl's neck when it attacked me, I was playing chess at this mental hospital I was staying at. They were not happy with me for that" she said remembering how she had grabbed her knight from a board that was set up before they had asked her to leave for hurting another patient and being too violent at the time
"I once used a toothbrush and jammed into someone's ear, I burst their eardrum which helped in getting her to stay away from me" Mia said trying to show that they had all done things that they weren't proud of, she knew more than anyone that you did what you could in order to save your life and in that moment everything became a potential weapon
" what happened? was it when you were with the royals? Nick told me, he's been trying to teach about the big players in the wesen world" she said realising that it might be something that Mia might not want her to know, although Mia simply gave her a confused look when she mentioned the royals but she knew what Nick was teaching her since he had asked his permission before telling Trubel anything about her
" not the royals, I trained with the wesen council and yeah it was. There was this girl who kinda picked on me a lot so one day she cornered me in the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth, she punched me a few times then pinned me down on the floor and that was when I realised I still had my toothbrush in my hand. She was a Balam, it looks like a Jaguar" she said telling her a story that she had never told anyone before, she could still remember the amount of blood that poured out of Ima's ear as she clutch head in pain while Mia backed away unsure of what to do
" wow I guess being Blutbaden comes in handy every once and a while" she said after coming up blank on what to say to that but she knew from experience that not every statement or story required an answer, sometimes it was just enough to be there to hear them telling it to you
" hey I was thinking I still have a few things to pick for Monroe and Rosalee's wedding like my shoes and what not, why don't we go shopping?" she said thinking that it might be nice for them to spend some time alone doing something fun rather than talking about the bad things that they had both done in the past
"I don't think thats a good idea, I mean I don't want to used to all of this" she said knowing how lucky she was just to have a nice place like this to sleep in as well as someone who cooked for her and was actually worried about whether she was eating. It was something that she hadn't had in her life in a really long time and she wasn't sure she would be able to copy when it all went away again
" I get it, you're trying to make the most of it before it goes away but the thing is as far as I'm concerned you will always have a safe place here to turn to if things take a turn for the worse ok?…. so we are going shopping" she said giving her bright smile before heading into the kitchen to wash her cup then place her lunch into her bag before giving Trubel a quick hug before heading back to work again
Later that night as Mia was about to make dinner for her, Nick and Trubel, Nick called to tell her about the sudden appearance of Josh Porter who's father was a grimm and was looking for him before he died so that he could give Nick his key. She began to pace around the room as she tried to think of something that she could do to help them without actually being with them since she would just get in the way. Then it suddenly occurred to her to check her box filled with all the things that she had learned at the council as well as the things that she had taken with her when she left in case any of them had mentioned the key or had any details about the key that they didn't know yet. After a while of scanning all of her books and documents for anything to do with the key, she came a book on the history of the relationship between the royals, grimms and the wesen council. Mia headed into the kitchen to make a large pot of coffee before grabbing a highlighter out of her bag as she started to highlight the important details about the seven keys and the seven knights that had previously owned them to prevent the item for falling into the hands of the seven families. She grabbed her sticky notes that were laying around on the table in front of her as she began to wrote that the keys may open the a box or whatever the item was inside of, she wondered if all seven keys were needed to open it in order to get the item and figured it probably wouldn't open with just one key. Eventually Nick, Trubel and Hank came through the door with a new mystery guest who she figured was probably Josh Porter, him and Nick were carrying a large trunk which they placed on the floor by the dining table which they began to use as a place to the contents of the trunk as they began to look for the key.
" I can't find it" Nick said examining in the trunk now that it was empty to see if there was maybe a hidden compartment where Rolek Porter might have put it in order to keep it safe from the Verrat who were after him, he wished that Rolek would have told Josh where it was before he had died or would have left them a note but he knew that it could end up in the wrong hands as could the key
" me neither" Hank said as he held Mia check out all the items from the trunk that were now on the dining room table except for the books which Trubel had took so that she could look through them while trying to find the key that might have been placed in the spin of a book or slipped into a page
" if there is a key in here then I have no idea where it is" she said as she took a step back to look at everything on the table in case her and Hank had missed something but she still came up blank as to where the key could be hiding, she looked around the room where the trunk and its contents were spread out to try and get an idea
"Nick there are stuff in here that I have never seen in you books, have you ever heard of Abartige Aasfresser?" Trubel asked him as she stopped at a page that she had never seen so that she could show him what she had found, when she thought about it made sense that there would be things missing in some of the books since it was based on the grimms in his families findings and adventures
" not until now, have you Mia?" he asked as he shone his flashlight onto it so that they could get a better look at it, she walked over to him so that she could get a better look at the Hyena like creature. For Mia began to recognise certain things about the picture that seemed to look familiar to her
" I vaguely remember from my wesen related classes where they taught about different types of wesen and all the details about them. If I remember correctly Abartige Aasfresser pick victims that won't be missed like orphans in fear of being caught and their jaws/teeth can crush bones" she said as she tried to remember all the details from the essay that she had write for her teach about the way the Abartige Aasfresser hunted and why they did this
" so you guys really see these things?" Josh asked them knowing that Trubel and Nick had both told him that they were grimms like his father was before he died, although he wasn't sure what Hank and Mia were since neither them had confessed what they were to him yet
" well not this one" Trubel said unhelpfully as she began to look through the books some more to see what else she could see that was different from Nick's books, she spent the majority of her spare time reading through his books from the trailer so she could learn as much as she could about all things wesen
" but its all true?" he asked still finding it hard to believe that his dad wasn't crazy, he figured it was easier to think he was crazy than believe the things he was saying and showing him were true.
" some people describe it as having a monster within like an animal like nature and Nick can see, Trubel can see them and your dad could see them. However Hank and you can't see them unless they want you too… as for me, I am one of them" she said as she turned her attention back to the items on the table so that she could avoid seeing his look of fear on his face when he realised what that meant, she knew it was coming which is why she left it to the end of her sentence
" Josh, just because you can't see them now doesn't mean that you won't some day. It hit me pretty late too" Nick said knowing that it was something that it couldn't exactly prepare for but it was better to be aware of the possibility than not, he could still remember the first time he seen Adalind woga as she walked past him on the street
"Well, at least I know its real, sort of" he said knowing that if that day ever came that he would still on some level believe that it wasn't happening to him and would probably end up right here with Nick and Trubel for help with his newly found grimmness
" I can't find this key, have you ever seen it?" Nick said as he stood next to Mia as he began to look through of the compartments of a small box before tipping it up side down, in the hopes that the key might be in side and fall out from wherever it was hiding
" no, I just know that he was really worried about getting it to someone who would understand" he said remembering how his dad was refusing to go to a hospital to get help with his declining health as he was wanting to get the key to the nearest grimm which just so happened to be Nick
"so where would it be?" Hank asked him hoping that he would be able to give them some sort of clue where else they could look to find the key since all they knew was that Rolek had the key with them when they were travelling as it made no sense for him to come to Nick but leave the key behind unguarded
"I don't know, I don't even know what we're looking for" he said honestly as he tried to think where his dad might have hidden it, he knew it would have to be a place close to them and somewhere Nick would be able to get to it but beyond that he had no idea
" when you asked him about it, he tried to get out of bed like he was going to show where it was" Trubel said trying to look back when they were with Rolek discussing the key, she was hoping that this might jog Josh's memory and given them more information about the whereabouts of the key
"it won't have been in that hospital room, he never got out of bed… although he was asking for cane" he said knowing that his father didn't have the energy to get out of bed, never mind getting out of it to hide a key somewhere in it where the nurses and doctors wouldn't find it while cleaning
"let me guess, he's had it forever and its been past down from father to son over generations…sounds like the perfect place to keep a key safe" Mia said as Nick took the cane from Josh to examine the cane for an indictions of secret compartments or openings where the key might be hiding
" did I break it?" he said as he took the handle apart, although by the nail at the bottom of it it looked as though it was meant to come apart for some unknown reason. When he moved the cane around he could hear some thing rattling around inside of it so he figured they were on the right tracks
" I don't think, do you mind if I have a look?" Hank asked as he suddenly got an idea as he took the cane from Nick and used the nail at the bottom of the handle to push a nail out to the side of the cane then flipped it upside down as the key fell onto his hand now that there was nothing block its way
"is that even a key?" Josh asked as it looked like a small mental box with some drawings and details on it, although Nick began to move it around till it began to resemble a key. Mia, Hank and Nick recognise it for the key that they had seen before, although this one have a slightly different pattern on the outside it than Nick's did
" it is now, Mia can you get me the key Rosalee gave you and some ink?" he asked as she headed upstairs to grab the things he had asked for as well as the piece of paper with the other half of the map on it so that they could continue it if they could
"here…wait Nick, look at this… ok I don't know if you've ever seen a map of the black forrest but this different looks like it leads there, its on this map that my great whatever on my mom's side drew" she said after Nick had create two sets of prints next to the ones of the key he already owned, she recognise the different patterns and details from the map she had looked at as a child
"so we've looking at Germany… why does it always come back to Germany?" Nick asked as Mia phone began to ring signalling that she was getting a call, she politely excused herself before heading over to the stairs where she down near the landing so that she was out of hear range in case it was something she wanted to keep to herself for a while
" hello Emilia, its Doctor Barnes.I'm sorry for calling so late its just I got your test results back today and got caught up with an emergency before I got the chance to call you" he said knowing that it was late for a night concerning her test results as he usually tried to keep his work related calls to his office hours, however this seemed like the kinds thing that someone won't mind hearing whatever the hour
" its ok, was everything ok with my blood?" she asked wondering if there was wrong that would warrant a call in the middle of the night, she figured if everything was fine with then it would easy wait till the morning which was why she began to worry something was wrong with her
" well when we ran your blood through for some test we discovered that your HCG was slightly higher than normal-" he said before she interrupted him, she was blaming the fact it had been a tough night and the fact it was getting late for the reason that she was becoming baffled by medical speak
" wait is that bad thing? I mean what does that mean?" she asked wanting him to get to the point so that she could begin to deal with whatever was wrong with her, she knew that doctors had a way of going on before they got to the reason why they called in the first place
" Its not a bad thing as such in fact I would say it would a very good thing, Emilia you're pregnant and for your HCG levels I would say about two months along." he told her as she felt the room beginning to spin as the familiar sick feeling began to come back, however she knew it was more out of shock than morning sickness which what it probably was
" ok ummm…..wow….what do I do know?" she asked completely unsure of what her move was or how she was to proceed since she had never been in this type of situation before
"I will send you an email with some information such the list you can and can't as well as the foods and drink you have to avoid. You can call my office tomorrow and we can arrange an appointment for an ultrasound where we can talk more about the details. Congraduation" he said as he ended the phone, leaving her completely stunned and shocked as she began to realise what this meant. Eventually she realised that she had to do something she stood up and walked towards the door where her things were
" hey Nick that was Rosalee, she needs me to go over there to talk about some of the wedding stuff" she said hoping that her lie sounded believable enough for him to buy it since she wasn't ready to talk about the real reason she was heading out this late at night
" really? at this time? ok just call me if you need me for whatever" he said from the dining room, she was thankful that he stayed where he was since he would be able to tell that something up with her as soon as he saw the look on her face
Mia got in her car trying as hard as she could not to cry until she reached her destination, she wasn't even sure why she was heading there whether it was because that was why she had told Nick where she was going or because in her head there was only one person she could talk to about this before she was ready to tell Nick. After what felt like years Mia arrived at Monroe's and Rosalee's place as she knocked on the door wrapping her blazer around her tightly as she felt the need to cover up as it would be easy to see her pregnancy from this early stage by looking at her

I promise Nick and everybody is ok….something is wrong with my dress for the wedding" she said coming up with yet another lie that she hoped he would buy so that she didn't need to go into the real reason she was crying, she also hoped that he didn't Rosalee her fake reason
" hey Rosalee, Mia's here to see you….I'll let you be the one to tell her about the dress sis, I'll leave you two to it " he said knowing that she would likely begin to get mad and panic since the wedding was only a few days away, he'd rather Mia be on the receiving end than him
"hey you ok? whats happened now?" she said hoping that someone wasn't hurt or desperately needing their help as she was still clinging onto the hope that they were still going to have case free and problem free wedding
" honestly I'm not sure, Doctor Barnes called me with the result from my blood test…I'm pregnant and have absolutely no idea what to do, I need your help" she said as she began to sob as Rosalee walked towards her and pulled her in close as she tried her best to comfort Mia despite the fact that she was beside her as the news really began to sink in that she was pregnant with Nick's baby
