Okay so please GO READ AND FOLLOW MY STORY BEATS OF OUR HEARTS. I have like three followers and five reviews...which sucks compared to this story. SO please go follow that. But if at least half of y'all go follow Beats of Our Hearts I might update quicker and hint at something for this story..And no color this chapter...
Mako walked for what seemed like hours looking for Tonraq. He even past his footprints and he knew he went around in circles.
"Ughhh! This is pointless! I've walked around for hours and now I'm lost!"
"Not too lost."
Mako was surprised to hear a voice and he quickly turned around. It was Tonraq. He finally found him.
"I'm sorry I just let my temper get the best of me. Is it okay if I sit by you?" Mako asked hesitantly.
"Sure."
Mako sat besides Tonraq for what felt like hours without talking. They both were silent and were looking everywhere else. Trying to avoid each others gaze. Finally Tonraq broke the silence.
"Why you here? I know you don't like me. And I sure don't like you. Did Senna send you?"
"No...I'm here to talk to you about Korra but please don't hurt me-"
"It depends...but I do wanna know more about how this happened."
"Oh well...it was kind of my birthday and-"
"No. I don't mean that I mean how it came to be you wanting to talk to me?"
"Oh well...I.. I... Look. I know Korra and I did some things and made a mistake. We know this, I know this and we are ready to accept that. I'm ready to accept that. And I know you hate me but I love Korra. I'm in love with Korra. She is my everything, my all. She has my heart and I have hers. We may be different but we have one thing in common, love. And I am ready to step up and be a father and-"
"A great husband for my daughter."
Mako turned towards Tonraq. Tonraq was looking out into the distance. He never looked at Mako, but his eyes did water and his voice did crack.
"Mako, son, I don't hate you I just love my daughter. I just want what's best for her. I know she really loves you. In her letters she writes all she talks about is you. I know you love her- Its written all over your face. And after I accidentally hit Korra earlier you were the first one at her side. I know she's fine now but I hurt her. Do you know how much that hurts me as a father, knowing that I hurt her?"
"No sir-"
"Of course you don't. But it hurts. Mako please listen to her, love her, honor her, protect her, and never leave her. Keep her safe...please I'm begging you. I love my daughter. She's my only child. And she was also the result of a mistake Senna and I made."
"Really? But I thought-"
"Don't do much thinking son. It will lead you wrong. But yea...Senna and I made a mistake...it was kind of my birthday-"
"Same situation different generation?"
Tonraq chuckled.
"I guess you could say that. And then about three weeks later Senna broke the news to me and I panicked. I left her and kept to myself. But I knew in my heart she and I had done that and I shouldn't let her carry the weight on her own. We told her parents. Her father about killed me."
"Like you about killed me?"
"I wouldn't have killed you. But yea somewhat like that. Except he threw his kitchen knife at me that he had in his hand. I guess we should have waited until he was done cooking."
Mako smiled.
"Yea you should have. But I guess there is no good time to break the news"
"You're right. So are you ready?"
"For what?"
"To be married? To be a husband?"
Mako looked out into the distance. All he saw was snow. No signs of life anywhere. And when he was ready to answer Tonraq he took a deep breath and answered.
"Yes sir I am. I told Korra too."
"Well good." Tonraq said as he turned and looked at Mako. Amber met blue and it was pleasant. There was finally peace between them. Tonraq got up and reached his arm out to help Mako up. Mako took his hand and stood up. Tonraq then started walking the opposite direction of his home.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Follow me son. You have to make a betrothal necklace."
