Well someone was upset when I re-posted the last chapter (no names). Just wanted to see if anyone would review. But okay here's what you have been waiting for. The Making of the Betrothal Necklace. And if you get time please check out my other new story (don't judge me) Young and Beautiful. Its a BumixLin story for those who like them together. Also answer my questions from last chapter because no one was kind enough to. And if you know of any good stories please tell me so I can read them. Thanks...
Here. They were finally here. Finally out of that small boat. When Mako stepped out onto the snow he bent down and kissed it. Tonraq stood back and rolled his eyes while Mako did this. Finally. Tonraq had finally accepted Mako as his son. Finally. Finally Mako understood that Korra was the catalyst in his life. Finally. It was time to make her necklace. Mako followed Tonraq through the snow. He looked around and noticed there were buildings everywhere. He also realized that all of the buildings were made of a special ice that seemed to glow.
"Are we-?"
"Yes. We are in the Southern Water Tribe City. It was built up a long time ago. Many people live here."
"So why do you live out-"
"We moved out there after we found out Senna was going to have Korra so no one would know."
"Oh..."
Mako followed Tonraq through the city. While they walked many girls kept trying to get Mako's attention but he just shrugged them off. He was not interested, he loved Korra. After walking by many houses they finally arrived at an ice building. It was a rectangular shape and it had no windows. From what Mako saw it had no roof and smoke was coming through the top. Tonraq walked inside and Mako followed. There was about five boys his age making necklaces. They were each cutting and shaping their stone to the perfect circle.
"Hey Tonraq, I thought you said that each necklace is different?"
"Yea they are." Tonraq said as he kept walking to an empty work space.
"Then why are they all making theirs in the same shape?"
"Traditional."
"Oh."
After walking past three work spaces, Tonraq stopped at an empty one. There was some stone already cut and the tools were already laid out. Mako stood beside Tonraq at the long table and watched as he demonstrated how to make the necklace.
"First you will cut the stone into the shape you want. It doesn't have to be a circle. Then you will take the small carver and carve the shapes you want to use into the stone. The back is traditionally flat and doesn't have anything on it. But since your story is special you might want to put something back there. And that's it."
Tonraq patted Mako on the head and started walking towards the entrance.
"Hey wait. Where are you going?"
"I'll be back later."
"But aren't you going to help me?"
"Your necklace not mine. Been there, done that."
Tonraq walked out the door. Mako was now alone with the five boys who were also making necklaces. He was at lost. Tonraq said he would help him with the shapes...but he didn't. Mako needed help but he didn't want to disturb the boys. They looked so concentrated.
"Okay Mako. Get focused. Make the best necklace for the love of your life."
Mako stood there thinking of ideas for the necklace. He paced back and forth which didn't bother the others. Mako thought he would never think of anything...Then it hit him. Mako raced to the table and began cutting his stone and shaping it. The whole process took much concentration. He didn't even look up until he was finished. About three hours later he looked up and saw Tonraq admiring his creation. Mako smiled.
"Hold on. It's not finished. You might want to step back though."
Tonraq stepped back. Mako carefully set the stone on fire. Not enough to burn it to ashes, but just enough to give it a nice little glow. He then put the red ribbon through the hole and held it up for Tonraq to see. Tonraq was in shock. Mako created a beautiful necklace.
"Korra is going to love that."
"I'm sure she will."
"Well let's head back. We've been gone all day. I'm sure they're worried sick about us."
Tonraq walked out the door and Mako followed him. They made their way back to the canoe. It was dark now. All the stars and the moon was out. Mako held the necklace in his right hand. HE noticed how the necklace seemed to glow in the moonlight. It lit up and so did his eyes.
"It worked. I hope Korra loves it. I know she will."
SO...THE NECKLACE...its actually quite beautiful. Want to know what it looks like? Well review and I'll tell you in the new update. And go read Young and Beautiful if you like LinxBumi. And...I forgot...but review.
