Okay so yes...I am posting the last two chapters of this story soon...maybe today. Then the story will be complete. But since 71 of you loveeee this story I made another Makorra story called My First Steps. Yea...it already has like 57 followers. But go follow that and review on it. Here is the chapter.
Today was the day. The day that Mako and Korra become bonded as one. Since they weren't having an extravagant wedding with guests, they just were going to the village elder of the south pole. They were also wearing their normal clothing. They both knew that as long as they loved each other, it didn't matter how they got married.
Out of all days to get married, this had to be the worst. There was snow falling from the sky in a fast motion. The wind was heavy and sharp. The temperature was well in the negatives. This was not the day to be walking a distance.
Korra was standing in her room putting her parka on. Mako was buttoning his coat up. They were both dressed warmly for their adventure. Korra wore two pairs of sweats and a long sleeved shirt on top of her tank. Mako wore his usual trousers and two pairs of socks. He also wore a long sleeved black shirt under his usual getup. They were about ready to walk out of her room when Tonraq appeared in the doorway.
"Korra please listen to me. I know you want to get married today but there is a blizzard. You will freeze to death well before you reach town."
Korra huffed and rolled her eyes. She understood that he loved her and wanted her to be safe. But now was not the time to be overprotective. They had a schedule they had to stick to. Right now it was about noon, but with the blizzard it appeared to be night. It would take at the least two hours to walk to town. Then it would take another hour for them to even make it to the end of the up-built town. Then it would take another three hours for them to make it back by dinner. Korra had this all planned out.
"Dad please don't worry about us. We will be fine. We're fire benders. We know how to stay warm."
Korra's words offered no reassurance to the worried father. She noticed this and walked up to him and laid her hand on his shoulder.
"Dad we'll be fine. Trust me."
She batted her eyes at her father and earned a half smile. She smiled as well and hugged her father.
"I love you dad."
Tonraq wrapped his arms around his daughter and laid his head on hers.
"I love you too Korra."
She pulled back and looked at her father.
"Now you know what I'm about to tell you right?"
Korra huffed again and rolled her eyes. This was not the time for lectures.
"Yes yes I know. Stay away from creeps, wolves, and no bending."
"Yes and stay safe."
Tonraq looked up from his daughter over to Mako. He was standing behind her.
"As for you son your mission is to keep them safe, keep them warm."
"Yes sir."
"Well I don't want to keep you any longer. You may go, but remember my rules."
The couple walked past Tonraq and made their way out of the bedroom door. They walked through the small house to the front door. There they were met by Senna who eagerly hugged them both. After hugging Mako, she handed him a bag. It was a bag that seemed to match Korra's parka. It also had straps and was meant to be carried on a back. It had a flap that folded over and snapped on the front. Mako was about to open the bag when Senna placed her hand on his.
"Don't open it now. It's for an emergency."
Senna smiled and so did Mako.
"Thank you, mo-ma'am."
Senna noticed him choke on his choice of wording and decided it was best if she said no more. She stepped aside, unblocking the doorway. Korra walked up to the door and then turned around and looked at Mako.
"Ready?"
"Ready."
Korra turned back to the door. She sighed and then looked down at her stomach. Her parka hid nothing anymore. She was big and showing. No one would know she was having a baby though. With her extra baggy sweats, it appeared as if she was just a fat woman. She placed her hand on her stomach and whispered to the baby.
"Are you ready?"
She heard nothing, but did feel much warmth. She smiled and looked back up. She then opened the door only to be greeted by darkness, snow, sharp wind, and the bitter cold. Before she stepped a foot in the snow her father came up behind her and pulled her back. He then turned her around and before she could ask a question he wrapped a dark blue scarf around her neck and up to her nose. He tied it tight and placed her hood over her head.
"You didn't listen when I said stay warm. "
Korra smiled. She then turned around and walked back to the door. She opened it once again and this time she stepped out of the house and into the snow. Mako followed. She then turned and reached for Mako's hand. Mako looked down and saw her hands were bare. He quickly removed his gloves and placed them on her hands. Tonraq saw this from the door way and smiled. Senna also noticed this.
"Now that's love."
Korra turned to Mako and uncovered her mouth.
"But aren't your hands going to be cold?"
"Baby I'm a fire bender, I'm always warm."
"I'm a fire bender too."
"But you handle more than one element."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
Mako then began recovering Korra's mouth.
"I'm stating that since I am just a fire bender. I am always warm. Its a natural thing for me. You on the other hand are the Avatar. Your body is not specifically adapted to one element...Therefore...uh..."
Mako lost his train of thought. Korra on the other hand looked confused as he spoke. Mako then looked down at Korra and noticed he had finished wrapping her neck up to her nose.
"I forgot what I was talking about...But let's go. We have a long way to travel."
Mako took Korra's hand in his. His hand was hot to the touch making Korra pull her hand away.
"Sorry...I was trying to keep you warm."
Korra placed her hand back in Mako's and felt warmth through the gloves. They both turned around once more to wave good bye to her parents. Then they turned back around and began walking.
…...
They had been walking for about an hour in complete silence. The snow kept fell at fast rate. The wind toned down, but it was still sharp. The temperature was also still low. Korra never seemed to let on that she was cold. Honestly, she probably wasn't cold. Mako warmed her by holding her right hand and holding her side with his left hand. The heat from his body traveled through his hands and warmed her hand and side. The heat then traveled throughout her body, warming her. This was a major reason why their trip thus far had been silent. But that silence soon came to an end.
"Maakkkkooooo."
Mako heard Korra groan. He leaned closer to her and placed his mouth close to her ear.
"Yes baby?"
"I'm starrrvvvving."
Mako's eyes widened. He did not pack any food for this trip. Then he remembered the bag Senna handed him. He also remembered what she said.
"Don't open it now. It's for an emergency."
Mako let go of Korra only to hear another groan from her. She stopped and turned to Mako. He at this moment was opening the bag. He did not have to dig to far to find a small, round container. He took it out and opened the lid. He almost gagged at what was inside. It was water tribe grout.
"Here...I think this is for you."
Mako handed the container to Korra who eagerly took it. She looked inside and smiled. Korra then yanked her scarf from her neck and chugged the grout whole. Mako watched in horror as she did this. When she finished she looked at him with a questioning face.
"Why do you look like I just drank blood?"
"Um...I just don't like grout...that's all."
"Why not? Its good."
"Let's just say I grew up eating city food, or scraps I should say..."
"True..."
Korra handed Mako the container, who tossed it in the bag and closed it up. He placed the bag on his back once more. He stood up ready to leave only to become worried.
"Korra?"
She was gone. No sight of her. No response either. Mako became frantic.
"Korra!"
"OH MY SPIRITS MAKO!"
Mako heard her scream, but he did not know what direction it was coming from. He looked around to only see snow falling from the sky.
"KORRA WHERE ARE YOU?"
Will Mako find Korra? I might not end this story now that I think about it...Depends on how many people still read this...
