Here is the next chapter. And let me warn you...its epic...
After meeting Sokka, Mako became more comfortable with Korra identifying him as her "friend." Maybe he was just worried about her and that's why he was quick to ask questions. Or, it could just be his father instincts kicking in. Actually, it was his father instincts and it was a great thing that they were kicking in...
Kicking. The baby had begun to kick lightly at Korra's side. She just ignored it and kept her conversation with Mako and "Akuma." They were currently sitting at a table in the dining room of the hut. In fact, this "hut" was actually large and spacious on the inside. The walls were decorated with animal skins and water tribe cloth. This decoration made the environment seem friendlier and made Korra feel much at home.
Mako was sitting beside Korra on the floor with Akuma sitting across the table. He held her and rubbed her knuckles softly. He and Akuma were engaged in deep conversation. Korra tried her best to pay attention, but she just found it hard to focus. Instead, she quietly sipped the tea Akuma made for her.
As she sipped, she felt a nudge in her side. She stopped sipping and moved her hand out Mako's. She laid it gently on her stomach and felt the warmth of her body. She smiled warmly and proceeded to sip her tea. As she continued to sip, she was hit with another kick. It was a little bit more sharp than the last, but it wasn't too bad. Korra then began to rub her stomach softly and sip her tea again. Before she could set down her cup, she was hit with another kick. This one however, was sharp and caused Korra to scream out in pain. She quickly grabbed her side and Mako turned towards her. Akuma stood up and made his way to her. Mako held Korra in his arms and tried to comfort her. Once at Korra's side, Akuma stooped down and laid a hand on her stomach. He looked up and over to Mako.
"Son...It's time."
"AHHH!"
Korra screamed once more. Mako's face began to express panic. He wasn't ready for this baby to come, not now anyway. Akuma noticed this panic and laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Mako I need you to lift Korra up and lay her on the table for me."
Instead of listening to orders, Mako looked questioningly at the man. Akuma noticed this look and continued to speak.
"Son, I've delivered plenty of babies in my lifetime. You forget, I'm Master Katara's brother. I helped her with deliveries. In fact, I delivered one of her children."
Mako realized Akuma knew what he was doing. He didn't question the master. Akuma cleared the table as Mako picked Korra up. He carefully laid her on the table. By this time, she was huffing and puffing. The baby was ready to come out and Akuma knew it. They needed to hurry up and get her prepared to deliver.
"Mako, can you please remove Korra's pants? I must go get some water."
Akuma left the room. Mako left Korra's side and proceeded to remove her bottoms. Akuma walked in with the water. Mako stood up and turned towards him.
"Um...the baby is going to come out..." His voice trailed.
Akuma smiled warmly.
"Yes Mako. But leave that to me. I need you to stay by Korra and tell her to push. If we don't get the baby out soon, it might cause some complications to Korra. But only tell her to push on my count."
Mako did as he said and stooped down by Korra. He could tell she was in pain. He leaned over and whispered in her ear.
"We will get through this."
He pulled back only to be grabbed by the collar and pulled towards Korra's face. He could tell she was upset. She even gritted her teeth as she spoke.
"I swear to spirits Mako as soon as this baby gets out I'm going to kill you. You don't know how painful this is."
Mako became worried, but then he half smiled. He knew Korra wouldn't kill him. Besides, it was just the pain of the baby talking.
"Okay you two get ready. On my count."
Korra let go of Mako and sat up a little. Her knees were bent and her legs propped up, leaving her with no support to her back except her elbows. Mako noticed this and helped her to remain up.
"One. Two. Three!"
"Push!"
"AHHH!"
"Again. One. Two. Three."
"Push!"
"AHHH!"
This went on for about a half hour. Akuma counted, Mako said push, and Korra screamed. It was a tedious process, but it had to be done. Akuma didn't know what to do. He needed Korra to push harder. If they didn't get the baby out soon...He didn't even want to think about it. Instead he looked over Korra at Mako with pleading eyes. Mako didn't need an explanation, he knew that if the baby didn't come out, it could be all bad.
Mako moved closer to Korra's ear and whispered sweetly into it.
"Korra. I love you and you love me. This is love is what led us here. This child was created out of love. But baby if he doesn't come out, he could possibly die, or even you. I certainly don't want that to happen. So please, push one last time. The hardest push yet. And then maybe, we can hold our son and finally meet him."
His words were so sweet. So calm. So...frightening. Korra didn't want to die. She also didn't want her unborn child to die. Korra thought about his words long and hard. Then she took a deep breath, and pushed one final time. This was the time. It was the hardest push.
"AHHH!"
And then the cries of a baby were heard.
"It's a boy."
Korra smiled and fell back. Mako grabbed her and tried to wake her. She didn't wake. He looked at Akuma who was cleaning up the baby. Akuma looked back and saw the worry in his eyes.
"She's not breathing."
Oh! I just did. Please review. I will answer any questions you may have next chapter.
