Yukio's POV

.

"Ri- er, Tyler what's going on?" I exclaimed as he dragged me down a secret hallway under the school.

My brother shot me a woeful expression. "Can't say," he muttered, "Orders are orders."

I frowned, hoping that the orders came from Mephisto and not the organization. I don't know what I'd do if he had turned evil. "Who's orders?" I asked quietly, hoping my brother could tell me without blowing his cover.

"A white dog with a polka dot bow," He said in mock sarcasm. I sighed with relief, though I still felt kind of ticked. The one time my brother actually followed orders, it had to involve not telling me anything. "I'm going to kill him when this is all over," I thought to myself. "He nearly gave me a heart attack when he tried to kidnap me!"

"Ah, here we are," Rin muttered to himself as we entered a big room. "I got Yukio as you ordered! Now tell me more about this quest for power."

I looked across the room to see a man wearing a black robe with symbols across his face. He smiled approving at my brother. "Well done Tyler," The man said. "You have proven yourself as a member of this organization. As you know, we are after power and to get this power we need a starting place. This school will be our headquarters. It's full of powerful items and people who will be useful to us. The real problem is attaining this power." The man held out a small black diamond with red lines making a star shape within it. "The Demon Core."

I gasped my eyes widening with horror. "Oh, so you know about it." The man said gleefully. "Yes. This is the Demon Core. I stole it from its previous owner and replaced it with a fake. It took me many years to get it, but now that I have it we, can rule over everyone! This jewel can amplify demonic power. With this, we can take over the school!"

"I see," My brother said thoughtfully. "But if you had this power, then why didn't you use it before?"

"To use the Demon Core, I need a very powerful demon; however getting my hands on a demon like that is next to impossible," The leader of the Organization said. "I was planning on using it sooner, but the candidate for it died unexpectedly. Luckily, it seems his brother has the same strong demonic power as he does. Now that we have him, we can move our plan forward."

"His brother?" Rin asked surprised.

"Ah, yes I forgot, you never met Rin Okumura," The man said. "He was a demon with strong power. It's really a pity he died. He would have been easy to catch since he was a lot more gullible than his brother." Rin's look of surprised turned to annoyance at being called gullible. I kicked him in the shins to keep him from doing something stupid. Rin gave a yelp and glared at me. I rolled my eyes and he huffed, turning back to the leader.

"What's in it for me?" he asked, going back to playing his part.

"With the school in our hands, we'll have hostages of hundreds of children," The man said. "With that kind of leverage, we can get anything we want. No one can stop us! Also if they tried to even get near the school, I can use the Demon Core to eliminate them! What's in it for you? Anything you want; money, power, revenge. It all could be yours."

"I see," Rin said. "Then I'm in! I'm going to take him to the prisons until we can use his power."

"Excellent," The man said. Rin gave a bow, and then dragged me out of the room. We headed down a flight of stairs and into a dark tunnel.

"Where are we going?" I whispered. Now that we knew his plan, he no longer needed to hold me captive.

"The prisons," My brother whispered back.

"What? Why? Now you know his plan; isn't it over?" I asked, frowning.

"Not now," Rin muttered looking around. "It's not safe to talk here." I closed my mouth and waited until we got to the prisons. Once we got there, Rin put me in a cell and locked the door.

"Sorry for having to do this, but you need to stay here until I get the Demon Core," Rin said. "If I blow my cover now, they'll just leave the school and go somewhere else."

"Oh yeah, you're right," I said, surprised that he could figure that out by himself.

"So… is the Demon Core as powerful as he says?" Rin asked uncertainly.

"It's worse," I said grimly. "He's not aware of all the power it has. It must have taken him years to steal it. It was locked away under high security."

"Why lock it away?" Rin asked. "Shouldn't exorcists use its power to get rid of demons?"

"No it's too powerful," I said. "It overpowers the user and takes over their mind. The last time it was used, there was a horrible war….wait, you should know this already! Didn't you go over this in class?"

"Oh um…" Rin said, nervously.

"You weren't listening were you?" I said accusingly.

"Ah, no…" Rin said, laughing sheepishly. "Well I better go steal the Demon Core! After I get it I'll break you out, okay?"

"Yeah, okay," I said. "Oh, and Rin? Don't think you're getting away that easily. Once I'm out, I'm going to tutor you until you learn about the war." Rin shot me a glare and stormed out of the dungeon. I sighed and settled down.

"It shouldn't be too hard for Rin to get the Demon Core," I thought. "His demonic power should attract it to him. The leader of that organization is too cocky and over confident. He has no idea how powerful the Demon Core is, or who Rin is. There shouldn't be any problems. Well, unless Rin's classmates somehow come after him. But that's stupid. They have no idea where this is! It's not like someone's going to give them a map and send them down here. I need to stop worrying so much."

.

Izumo's POV

.

"The map says to turn down here," Konekomaru said as we walked down the secret tunnels under the school.

"I had no idea this place was so big," Bon muttered.

"Don't you remember it when you were brought down here?" Renzo asked.

"No, I was knocked out." Bon said. "The only place I remember is the arena that I fought Tyler in."

"Wait, if you fought Tyler in an arena didn't you have a chance at winning?" Konekomaru asked.

"Yeah, you could of gotten revenge for Rin's death," Renzo said.

"I was still under the effects of the stuff they used to knock me out so, I didn't really stand a change," Bon explained. I sighed as the boys continued their pointless chitter chatter. Truthfully, this whole thing was really getting to me. Rin's death was already hard to deal with, but now that I knew the petty reason he was killed for, I found myself even angrier. Then again, I wasn't the only one taking it hard. Shiemi was in shock. She hadn't said a single thing since we entered the underground tunnels. The whole time, however, she was crying. It had half to do with the petty reason Rin was killed and half because all this talk of Rin brought up memories that she probably tried to bury. I remember those first few weeks; none of us could go into a kitchen without it reminding us of Rin. The only person who wasn't effected was Bon. It really made no sense. After everything he's been through, I'd thought he'd be the first person to jump at a chance to go after Tyler, but he seemed reluctant. It really bothered me. His reaction to Mephisto's explanation also made no sense. He was on the brink of telling us something but I couldn't imagine what that would be.

"Bon," I suddenly said interrupting their conversation. "Is Mephisto lying about something? You seem...unhappy about it."

"No, everything he said was the truth," Bon said grumpily. "It's really just the way he said things."

"Like what?" Renzo asked. "

I really can't explain," Bon said regrettably. "But you got the wrong idea on what's going on."

"How are we supposed to know what we got wrong if we don't even know what the truth is?" I asked frustrated.

"Guys, keep it down," Konekomaru said nervously. "Don't forget where we are."

"Right, sorry," Bon muttered. We continued walking in silence for a few minutes. Suddenly, in the distance, we heard the faint sound of footsteps running in our direction.

"Sounds like we have company," Konekomaru whispered urgently.

"We need to hide," Bon said quickly.

"Where?" I demanded, gesturing at the smooth hall walls. "It's not like there's a secret passageway hidden somewhere."

"Maybe we should run then," Konekomaru suggested.

"It only sounds like one person," Renzo muttered. "Couldn't we just fight him? There are five of us."

"But it could be a powerful demon!" Konekomaru exclaimed.

"Why don't we ambush it then?" Bon suggested. "There's a corner up ahead; if we hide over here when it turns the corner we could hit it."

"How are we going to do that?" Konekomaru asked

"I can help there," Shiemi whispered walking over to the corner. "Nii, Kudzu please."

The Greenman Spirit squeaked in response and produced a long vine the covered the ground.

"Okay then," Bon said. "When the person comes around the corner and trips, we'll need to grab him. Okay?" We nodded and crouched down. The footsteps were really loud now, and we could see a shadow. A few seconds later, Tyler came darting around the corner. His foot caught in the vines, and he fell forward with a yelp, dropping a small black diamond. Konekomaru and Renzo jumped on him, grabbing his arms and pinning him against the wall.

"What?!" Tyler spluttered in shock as he struggled. "What's going on? What happened?...Hey, what are you guys doing down here?"

"It had to be you, hadn't it?" Bon sighed.

"What does that mean?" Tyler said, offended.

"Just the person we've been looking for," Renzo said, smirking. "We're going to make you pay for everything you've done."

"Wait, hold on…what's going on? How did you guys even get down here?" Tyler said, still confused.

"Mephisto gave us a map," I said.

"Why would he do that?!" Tyler exclaimed, looking shocked.

"Why do you care?!" Shiemi yelled. "Tell us where Yuki is! I won't let you kill him too!" Fresh tears started streaming down her face.

Tyler looked horrified. "It's not like that!" He pleaded. "Stop crying!"

"What is this thing?" Bon asked, holding up the black diamond. Tyler's eyes shifted to him and gasped.

"Shoot!" he said. "I dropped it! Be careful with that! It's really dangerous!" He struggled against Konekomaru and Renzo's arms.

"We're not letting you go," I snarled. "Not until you pay for what you did."

"Are you talking about kidnapping Yukio, or do you still believe I killed Rin?" Tyler asked disgruntled.

"Stop playing innocent," Konekomaru yelled. "We know you killed Rin, and we know the reason for it to!"

"You do?!" Tyler said looking shocked. "What's that?"

"You killed him so you could make that amulet," Shiemi sniffed.

"What gives you that idea?!" Tyler demanded.

"Mephisto told us." I said.

"He did?!" Tyler exclaimed turning to Bon. "Why would he say that?!"

"It's complicated." Bon grumbled.

Tyler opened his mouth to respond, when suddenly his eyes shifted to something behind us. "That's not good!" he exclaimed.

We turned to face a huge demon lizard with a black star on its head. It hissed and launched itself at Bon and Sheimi. They jumped out of its way as it went crashing into the wall.

"Someone kill it!" I yelled.

Renzo's eyes locked on Tyler's sword, and he grabbed it. Tyler yelled and grabbed his sword back.

"Don't use my sword!" he said. The demon pulled it's head out of the wall and charged again at us. I pushed Sheimi out of the way and jumped to the side. As I tumbled to the side, I got a good look at the sword Tyler was holding.

"That's Rin's sword!" I gasped.

"This isn't the time for that!" Tyler yelled, pulling out another sword that was sheathed on the other side of him. "Use this one!" He tossed it at Renzo. The demon turned and charged again. Renzo held up the sword, ready to strike.

"Okay, be careful when hitting it," Tyler said nervously. "Don't hit it in the-"

Renzo ignored him and sliced the demon's head with the sword. It fell overd dead, and started shaking and smoking

"You idiot!" Tyler yelled. "I was trying to tell you not to hit these demons on the head!"

"Why does it matter?" I asked.

"These demons explode when they die!" Tyler yelled. "Run!" He jumped to his feet as the body of the demon exploded into pieces. I felt myself being thrown back. I hit a wall hard and slid down it. Through the dust. I heard a scream and forced my eyes open. All I could see was dust and smoke. I coughed and sat up.

"Hello?" I rasped.

"Izumo," I heard Renzo's voice say. "You alright?"

"Yeah," I said, coughing. "Where's everyone else?"

"Konekomaru is with me," Bon's voice said. "I don't know where Shiemi or Tyler are."

"Was it Shiemi who screamed?" I asked worriedly. We heard a sobbing sound.

"That sounds like her!" Renzo said. The dust started to settle. As it did, we saw Tyler holding Shiemi. Her eyes were full of tears.

"Shiemi!" Konekomaru gasped.

"We need to stop him before he kills her!" I exclaimed. Renzo picked up Tyler's sword and charged Tyler with it. "Don't!" Bon yelled, as Tyler was stabbed by Renzo. Tyler's eyes opened in shock as he fell to the ground in a pool of blood.

Shiemi's POV

.

The explosion knocked me off my feet. I tumbled backwards and crashed into a wall. I coughed as I heard a creaking sound above me. I looked up to see part of the ceiling was starting to fall. I gasped and tried to move my legs but they were pinned under a rock. The small parts of the ceiling started hitting my head as a large part started coming down. I gave a scream and put my hands over my head as a shield.

"Hold on!" a voice said, and I felt myself being pulled away from under the rock. The ceiling crashed behind me. I looked up to find Tyler holding me.

"Are you alright?" he asked gently. I nodded. He smiled in relief. I felt my eyes start to water.

"Why?" I sobbed. "Why are you being nice to me? After what you did you my friend?" I couldn't stop the tears that were streaming down my face. Tyler's smile faded into a frown.

"Shiemi!" I heard Konekomaru yell.

"We need to stop him before he kills her!" Izumo exclaimed.

"Don't!" Bon yelled.

Suddenly, Renzo appeared in front of us with Tyler's sword. I gasped as he drove the sword into Tyler. Tyler's eyes opened in shock as he fell to the ground in a pool of blood. My eyes widened, looking at Tyler's body.

"Are you okay?" Renzo asked. I nodded mutely as the others ran over to me.

"What did you do that for?" Bon yelled, running up to Tyler.

"Whose side are you on?" Izumo demanded.

"Didn't you see that he was trying to kill her?"

"Actually, he saved my life," I whispered.

The other's turned towards me in shock. "He saved you?" Konekomaru said.

"Why?"

"Bon if you know something," Renzo said. "We really need to know it now!"

Bon ignored us and continued to check on Tyler. "He's alright," Bon muttered, relieved. "The amulet took most of the hit."

I looked over at Tyler. His amulet was smoking and sparking. "Bon we really need an explanation now!" I said desperately.

"I can't," Bon said through gritted teeth.

"We really need to know!" Konekomaru pleaded.

"Guys.." Renzo said.

"What part of 'I can't' don't you get!" Bon snapped.

"It this because of what Mephisto said?" Izumo asked.

"Guys!" Renzo said desperately.

"He told me I couldn't say anything!" Bon said.

"But if that's the case. Then he already explained it right?" I asked frustrated.

"What are we missing?"

"GUYS!" Renzo yelled.

"What?" Izumo snapped. "We're a little busy trying to figure out what's going on!"

"People are coming," Renzo said. In the distance we hear footsteps running our way.

"That doesn't sound good," Bon muttered.

"We need to get out of here!" I gasped. As we stood up to run, demons stared coming around the corner and surrounding us.

"Oh, great," Renzo muttered. "Now we're really trapped!"
