The Clouds Project Chapter 4
"Ally!" Austin jumps into my arms. At that moment I realized that he had become attached to me which was not a good thing.
"I was gone for a few hours and this is what you do?" I ask surprised.
"A few hours? You were gone for an entire day!"
"Wow, the afterlife has a different time perspective."
"Yeah, it does."
"I was wondering why they wouldn't let me leave to go down here."
"Why?"
"I'm going to see Austin now." I say to Jake.
"Just wait." Jake stops me. "Don't go down their just yet."
"Why? Is he not awake yet?"
"No, it's no that. You just have to wait a few hours. He needs to understand what it would be like if you were all but just a dream."
"What does that mean?"
"It means what I said." Later on Jake came and appeared in my apartment. "Sorry for just popping in like this but you have to get to Earth right away! Make sure Austin see's you now!"
"Oh, okay!" I thought of where Austin could be and appeared in the bathroom.
"...And we're back up to speed with everything." I finish off saying.
"Wow! That's just terrible! How could they do that to me? Just make me think that I was crazy and that you never even existed!"
"It was a test...and you failed."
Austin looks surprised and maybe a bit shocked, "Failed?"
"Austin, you thought that you were going crazy and that you were just hallucinating of it was a dream. You were going to kill yourself. Who knows what would of happened if I didn't come back in time."
"I'm..."
"You have to promise me to never try that ever again!"
"Ally..."
"Promise me that you won't try and hurt yourself!"
"Okay! I-I- I Promise. I promise not to hurt myself."
I take a sigh of relief. "Good." I pick up the razor and throw it in the garbage.
"How is that possible?" Austin asks.
"What?"
"You. How can you interact with objects on Earth?"
"I guess since its your object that I can communicate with it some how. But I'm sure I can use other things. I guess it's just part of the job."
"Okay. Do you want to do something?"
"No. I think you should rest for the rest of the day. It looks like you could use it."
Austin nods his head and enters his room. I don't watch as he changes into his pajamas and hops into bed. I was still invisible to him so he couldn't see me unless I made myself visible. I say on the chair across form his bed. It felt like memory foam. The cushion was red while the outside was blue.
For the first time I actually took the time to examine what is too looked like. He had a window where you could sit on. He had pillows on it. Kind of like my old room. It had a white frame but it was hard to tell because he had stuck stickers of his favorite bands on it. At the foot of his bed was his brown, wooden dresser. Just as shiny as a polished shoe. Six drawers, it kind of looks like the olden style dressers with the carvings engraved on the drawers and on the side. He had wooden flooring with a small circular red carpet in the middle of the room. His bed was on the top right of the room if you were to face the door way since the door was on the left corner. His closet was on the back left of the room. Filled with t-shirts of his interest. Nothing really special about it. He had a piano against his wall.
I went over to it as I passed Austin who was heading into bed. "Ally?" Austin said curious as if so was in the room or not. I didn't do anything. "If your in here and your just hiding I just want to thank you. You saved my life. And I'm just glad that you came back. Thank you for that, too." I smiled.
I didn't want him to see me because I wanted him to relax so to let him know that I heard him I spoke really loud so he could hear it in a very low whisper. "Good night!"
"That was quiet, and cool." I stood up and he jumped and looked straight at me and then raised an eyebrow. "I thought I saw you in the corner of my eye."
"You did." I say but he couldn't hear me anyways so I yelled so he could barely hear, "Go to sleep!"
I saw him smile as he closed his eyes and fell deep asleep. Watching him sleep felt weird. I never got to sleep. I could if I wanted to but that's usually just for pleasure. It feels good to have a good nights rest. Too bad that I won't ever get to experience that. Might as well have the ghost experience and go to sleep as well. I was planning on going home to Amonia... (If you want the pronunciation is Am-Oh-nee-ah. Not the cleaner) but I think I'll just stay here. Just so I can keep an eye on Austin. Don't want to end up back into a situation like that again. I hop into bed next to Austin and since he is now fast asleep I decide to make myself visible. It's much me relaxing like that. As soon as I did that, Austin wrapped his arm around me like he was trying to comfort me. I just let him do what he wanted for now, even if it was his self-conscious who wanted to wrap their arm around me.
The following morning I wake up the same time Austin does. I flutter my eyes open and see the few of a blonde. I smile realizing that, that the blonde mess of hair belonged to Austin. I see his eyes open and then they widen and jumps out of bed. "Ah!"
"Austin calm down! It's Ally!" I try and calm him down.
Austin takes a sigh of relief, "I'm sorry, Ally. I totally forgot about you."
"It's fine." He comes up to me and hugs me. In surprise, I hug him back.
"How could I forget you? You're like, awesome." He smiles at me which makes me smile.
"Austin, I hope you know that I'm not always going to be around."
"Yeah, I know. Sometimes when you don't need to be with me you'll disappear or go to Amonia."
"No, that's not what I meant." I set my hand on his shoulder and he looks at me confused. I just don't want him to get more attached to me then he already is. "When I'm finished here, when I'm done helping you, I'm going to be gone and you won't be seeing me again."
"I know, Ally. Let's just enjoy the time that we have together." He smiles. I'm a little skeptic about his reply but I really hope he means what he says.
Suddenly Austin's phone starts to ring and he answers it, "Hello. Austin Moon speaking."
"Hello, I would hope you know about the accident referring to Ally Dawson's death, am I correct?"
"Yes."
"Well, her funeral is going to be on Sunday at the Funeral Home downtown at three o'clock. You were her friend, correct?"
"Yeah, yeah I am-was." Austin corrects himself and looks at me.
"I'm very sorry for your loss."
He makes a half smile and says before he hangs up, "Thank you."
"Who was on the phone?" I ask. Austin ignores my question and walks out the door. "Where are you going?"
"Getting the mail." Austin opens his mailbox at the end of the yard and finds the new invitation.
"What is that?" I ask.
"That was the phone call about the funeral. And this..." he holds up the invitation, "...is a visible invitation to the funeral. Your funeral. It's on Sunday."
So what'd you think? Sorry it's been a while. I've been busy. Had a badminton tournament today and only won one game but that's okay! That just means I'll be better next time! Have a good day and night! Bye!
