*throws chapter at you and runs away*
Natsu walks into 3B, holding a school bought roll in his hand. Without looking at his best friend, Gray, he asks where they are eating today. Finally he catches sight of him eating his bento in his seat. Natsu groans
"You don't want to eat in the courtyard? Why?" He questions
"Just eat quickly!" Gray rushes
"Don't tell me something happened between you and Ultear-chan!? Both of you didn't come back yesterday either!" Natsu says in a jumble of words
"Eat quickly!" Gray repeats "I'll just go practice and not worry about you,"
"Compared to eating in the classroom isn't the rooftop better!" Gray stands up and quickly packs up bis bento "Hey! Wai... WAIT UP!"
Gray slides open the classroom door and his eyes get big when he sees the three girls right in front of him, or more like Juvia staring at him. She looks down and walks past him, a little downcast. Gray watches her, looks down, than once more making his eyes look up at her, he watches her turn around.
They lock eye contact, their eyes widen and for three seconds they stare at each other. Both turn away and Gray runs off to put his lunch away, he blushes lightly.
"Why... Why would I have eye contact with her?"
Juvia sits at the rooftop on their usual picnic blanket, they eat comfortably and Lucy was the first to talk.
"That guy looked like he was rushing to practice," Levy stays quiet for a moment
"He'll come tomorrow for sure, right Juvia?" She stared at her melon roll in response.
"Gray-sama... Will never come eat at the rooftop again? He turned and looked... In my direction, right? Being able to make eye contact with him," Juvia blushes and hides her face with her hair and food "As expected... I'm really happy,"
A sudden knock makes all three jump, Natsu pops his head in and smiles "...hey..." His voice smothered in awkwardness
"Oh, it's just you Natsu." Levy says smiling
"Yeah... Today..." He looks around
"What?" Lucy says sternly
"What happened?" Levy says curiously
"Is it okay to meet after school? Our practice ends at 6 today instead of 8," he looks up
"Huh?" Lucy and Levy say in sync
"You, could wait?" Natsu turns around "I'll go now!" He leaves the roof in flurry
"Seriously?" Levy raises an eyebrow while Juvia stares at the door
"We would have to wait until 6," Lucy says lazily
"I have work today," an idea pops into Levy's head "Why not wait at the coffee shop I work at!? I'm 99.9 percent sure Gray and Natsu walk past there everyday!"
Juvia stares at Levy with interest sparkling in her eyes "Isn't that a good idea Juvia? We have magazines and stuff there too," the shy girl nods in excitement
"That's great! I'll just text Natsu the details!" Levy says pulling out her phone
"If Juvia's going, I guess I'll go..." Lucy says finishing her lunch "plus waffles sound nice.. Also is the guy you like going to be there?"
"Ah.. No he's on a break, he'll be back next week..." Levy says with a slight blush "okay! This is the plan!"
Levy explains it should start off with Natsu suggesting they stop at the cafe, Gray will accept and go inside. He'll see Juvia and they will talk, she will make him want to eat at the roof top again. And they are happy! Lucy blinks a couple times once Levy finished talking.
"I highly doubt it will go that smoothly." She dead pans
"Don't give up faith!" Levy rebounds. Juvia smiles and determination gleams in her eyes, than she fist pumps. "Juvia, good luck!"
"I'm not going." Gray says coldly to Natsu who looks away nervously "I don't like sweet things."
The two walked downtown together, but now Natsu felt stranded alone. Gray could care less and continued walking. The pink haired boy groans and resorts to his back up plan.
Levy watched as Juvia waited patiently and Lucy ate. The bluenette walks over to their table, plate in hands and smiles nervously.
"They'll be here soon-" Levy catches sight of Natsu doubled over in pain and clutching his stomach.
Juvia stands up and leaves her and Lucy's booth. She grabs the cafés door knob and opened it in excitement along with nervousness. Natsu looks up at her and breaks out in cold sweat when Gray stops and stares at Juvia.
"Woah! Why are you guys here?" He asks Juvia and now Levy that stood behind her.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" She raises an eyebrow "Are you okay?"
"Yeah!? I'm fine? I just need to sit down for a while, like in the cafe! Is that alright with you Gray?" Natsu asks, Gray looks away slightly blushing as an answer.
"...if there's no other way." He says in a small voice
The four sat a small booth by the window, sipping at tea and coffee. Lucy ate her waffles in content, with Natsu across from her and looking out the window in slight guilt. Gray and Juvia although across from each other, didn't make contact, except the occasionally glance with a flushed face.
And for an hour, that's what they did at the cafe. The sun started to set, darkening the sky and street lights were flicked on. Levy watched as much as she can but work continued to distract her.
"It's already dark out..." Lucy says with a sigh in disappointment
"Eh!?" Natsu looks outside and groans
"Levy, we're leaving," the blonde said, catching the attention of her friend.
"Really? It's only 5:30?" Levy makes pouty lips
"I don't want to stay here any longer." Irritation layered her voice and she stood up, Juvia followed suit and together they headed to the door.
"I see..." The bluenette sighs in defeat but Natsu looked back at the two girls.
"W-wait! My stomach... Hasn't quite recovered yet!" He leans up against the booths seats and Lucy sends him a side long glance
"Stay here by yourself than." She picks up the pace
"Don't say it the rudely..." Natsu whines. Juvia stops and looks at the two boys, than settles her gaze on Gray as he stood up.
"I'm leaving too." The dark haired male said to his friend who groaned
"You too, Gray!?" Natsu stood up and followed Gray. As the two passed the stationary girls Juvia took a deep breath.
"I... If Gray-Kun is going back, than I am too!" Her eyes stay glued to the floor but she catches Grays feet freezing in mid-step. Juvia feels the stare of all four and all that courage she conjured was lost in a second. The beauty sped walked out of the cafe and Lucy followed her with a bye.
Gray keeps his mouth closed, and finally Natsu growls "Gray! Do you really have nothing to say!"
"Say what?..." He stares at his pink haired friend in awe
"Ugh! Really!" Natsu gets all up in Grays face "if you have something to say, say it! Eating at the roof! If you don't say it now, she's going to leave!" Natsu pushes Gray lightly, who's already flustered. "Go!"
Gray turns around and through the clear cafe door he sees the figure of Juvia walking away. Her long blue hair swaying with every step and slowly he reaches for the door handle.
"Why? Why doesn't she turn back?"
Juvia stops suddenly and Lucy looks at her. "Juvia? What's wrong?" The sound of foot steps echoed louder and like she thought, a small hum from Gray came from behind her. Juvia whips around and finds him closer than expected, they stared at each other just a foot away. A blush gathered on Gray's face and he watched as Juvia looks down.
"Gray-kun..." Her voice shook "I'll take you home..." Lucy rolled her eyes knowing that was insane
"Juvia, we have to go..." She grabs her childhood friends wrist and started walking away. Gray watches in amazement and shock. Than he slowly straightens up.
"I!" They both jump and turn around to Gray "I'll take you home!"
