Chouchou Yosei

First time in so long my inbox blew up.

I purposely waited a little bit before updating. Cause I'm a sadist.

Previously: In order to give them more time, Natsu pushed them back into the Haunted House. They stood alone for a couple moments until customers started approaching, Gray pulled Juvia towards him. They landed behind the curtain, where the actors go to hide. But it was empty. Juvia finally gained the courage to ask his feelings for her.

A group of boys laughed and teased as they exited the haunted house, it was all background noise to the boy and girl hiding behind the curtain alone. She finally let the question slip. Their hands have parted and each one looked down, blushing silently. Gray stood up, making Juvia feel worst. She felt her breath stop, and the world go blurry.

"I want... Him to say something..." Gray cleared his throat and her eyes widened slightly.

"I... Juvia-San is someone I like..." Gray takes a breath "Hitode in a lake, is what I think..."

The bluenette parts her lips and than her face contorts into hurt, she shakes her head. A desperate attempt to change his mind. "You're wrong!" She turns around revealing her hurt to him, Juvia sat with a furrowed brow and frowning lips. Gray's eyes grow big, and she lets out a rugged breath.

"I'm not Hitode in a lake. What I want to become is..." She turns towards him more and puts a hand forward on the ground. Juvia leans in and licks her lips as a nervous habit.

"Gray-kun..." Her voice falters and grows weak. "Abo... ut... Me... Will you... One day..."

She clenches her skirt and fights back the coward inside her. Juvia looks down and after a second of regaining composure, she turns back to Gray.

"Will you one day... Fall... In love... With me?"

"Can't... Say anymore!" Juvia looked away and closes her eyes.

Gray stood shell shocked and completely lost all thought. He looked at the wall and used a unused desk as support. Gray felt the sweat rushing down his cheek and the blood rushing to his head. He took a nervous breath and than huffed.

"... What did you say just now? Fall..." A long silence "in love?" Another one

"Is what I think I heard you say... Huh!?" He said in disbelief. Juvia opened her eyes and nodded, causing Gray to take a step toward her.

"Eh... Eh!... EH!?" Gray yelled, forgetting they're hiding.

She nodded again. Juvia looked up and closed her eyes "I want to become a butterfly..." She slowly closed them and gulped in embarrassment.

"Somehow, this is a bit shocking. Isn't it?" Juvia quickly shook her head. "My head is a mess!"

Gray turned to Juvia. Sometimes he forgot just how pretty she is, her shining and silky blue hair cascading down her back. He remembered everything, from the time he saved her, the good luck on the beach, the rainy day, fireworks festival. And so many more, yet all these memories were only stepping stones to this day. Gray took another step towards her, he knew it was now or never.

"I also..." He takes a moment "like Juvia-san."

It was so quiet to them, but the sound of the cultural festival buzzed in the background. Juvia stumbled forward and lowered her head as she processed.

"Gray-kun..."

Juvia turned around and the two met eyes. They stared with flustered faces and slightly bewildered, the moment lasted only a couple seconds.

"He said..."

They quickly turned around, breaking eye contact. Gray walked past Juvia and muttered a "sorry." She could see the flap of the exit open as he walked past it and close again. Flooding her back into dim lighting, not that she noticed.

"He likes me."
