"I still don't understand what dating is,"

The soft thumping could be heard from outside the dojo. Gray was in the middle of a match. Yet his mind was somewhere else, with a couple more seconds on the mat his opponent lost a humiliating defeat. Gray rubbed the sweat away from his forehead with a rag and sat on the bench, blushing more than he was tired.

"Sunday is here..." He sighed and Natsu settled himself next to his friend.

"Gray, you want to go out to eat after practice?" He said

"I can't." He said simply, earning a questioning look from Natsu. "I'm going out with Ju-... Juvia."

Natsu couldn't contain his excitement and smiled, tempted to tease his friend. But held himself back, "good luck!"

Levy hummed happily as she held a chunk of Juvia's hair and braided it. Lucy and Levy arrived at their best friends house only a couple minutes ago, but they got to work quickly. Levy got hair and Lucy got outfit, they decided no heat and only small changes. So now Levy was braiding the sides to meet in the back and planned to put a bow holding it. Lucy pondered over the bottoms, and wanted to conceal Juvia as much as possible to stop wandering eyes.

Juvia was stuck in dream land, and was so excited. It took all her self control not to scream and cry tears of joy, Gray and her finally reached this far. And all the things she did were worth it. She was so busy day dreaming, her two friends arguing about outfits went completely over her hear. Juvia pulled on the blue skirt and white knitted cardigan, Levy looked over and smiled at her.

"Let's put on accessories." They chose a skinny gold bangle and instead of a bow, Levy slipped in a small bundle of white flowers into the back of her braids.

"I vote leggings... Guys will attack her."

"Lucy, Juvia has Gray to protect her." The short girl said, picking small white heels.

Juvia slid them on and walked over to her bedroom window, pushing away the curtain that obstructed her view. Gray stood outside in a black hoodie, pacing in front of the door. Juvia smile and blushed, quickly going down to the front door and swinging it out. Gray jumped and stared at the young beauty as she slowly retreated behind the door.

"Date. I couldn't sleep at all last night, what should I do?... I'm nervous, embarrassed. Anxious. All the things I'm worried about are swimming around in my head, and I still don't know what to do. What should we do?" Juvia looked out from behind the door and Gray met her eyes.

"Let's go..." His voice shaking slightly.

"There it is again..." She walked out and closed the door. "...happiness. All I feel now is happiness."

They walked to the main plaza of their city, and Gray glanced at her. Watching her with the crowd of people. Juvia could only look at her feet, avoid the eye contact of the strangers and think.

"Let's go!" Gray rushed forward, leaving her lagging behind. "See a store you want to go in, we can look around."

"Gray in his normal clothes. No school uniform or karate gi. We're walking on the street, together." Juvia saw a couple cuddling on the bench and looked away as the two lovebirds speculated.

"Do we look like a couple?" The blue haired girl walked a little faster to be just a couple steps back from him.

"Did you see those two?" The girls voice perked up. "They won't even last a week, they look like us when we're fighting."

"Will we last?" Worry washed over Juvia and she stared at the nape of his neck, a small prick in her feet adding to the pain. "He keeps getting further."

Gray stopped and pointed to a park, "let's sit down."

Finding a vacant bench, the new couple settled down and silence erupted. Juvia kept feeling that prick, and looked down. Her shoe's rubbed up against her skin so much, that the cuts produced droplets of blood. She swallowed nervously and Gray suddenly stood up.

He walked away and Juvia grew even more nervous, she felt someone stare at her and glanced at the direction of the stare. Gajeel had a blue Popsicle stick in his mouth as he stared at her, another boy with him standing a couple feet back. Juvia shifted away slightly and stared at the other boy, his white hair spiking up and a clean jaw. He looked bored, and then shifted his gaze to someone else.

Gray was back with two drinks, and was halfway through giving it to his girlfriend. He frowned at the two guys, an uncomfortable silence spreading out.

"Eh-" Gray blushed in embarrassment. "What!?"

"Heh?" Gajeel smiled teasingly while the white haired boy leaned up against the metal fence.

"Helping your girlfriend buy drinks?" Gajeel took a bite of the Popsicle.

"..." Gray avoided eye contact.

"You aren't denying it? Are you two dating now?" Gajeel's smirk grew

"Yeah." He said, voice surprisingly calm. Juvia stared at him, and the pierced man looked over at her.

"But..." Gajeel nonchalantly pointed at her feet. "She's bleeding, is she okay?"

"What!?" Gray looked at her feet, noticing the blood and kneeling down. "Are you okay?"

"Did you make her walk too much?" Gajeel threw away the wooden stick that once had his treat. "Their feet would normally bleed when they wear shoes like that too much. She isn't used to it all, that's quite a bit of blood."

Gray clenched his jaw, trying to mantain in his calm facade. Gajeel and the other boy began walking away, saying a small goodbye beforehand. Gray left Juvia on the bench for a couple minutes as he bought band aids and without a word, cleaned up her wound. She sat barefoot, staring at the quiet boy, yelling at herself internally for wearing heels.

"You are really good... At this." Juvia gestured to her band aid.

"Ah... Karate, have to bandage myself a lot." He said, looking at her for only a second. "Sorry,"

Juvia shook her head and was about to speak, but Gray stopped her. "I let you walk so much, I didn't notice at all."

"It feels like... If he says sorry, we won't become close." Juvia hid the grief on her face.

"Let's go back," he stood up and turned around, causing the girl to almost fall in panic. Was he leaving her, then he crouched, offering her his back. "Here."

Juvia reached forward and set a hand on his shoulder, hesitant and awkward. "It's just like training. I'll be fine." He was still flushed. She clambered on to his back and Gray hooked his arms around her legs and stood up, walking quickly through the crowds. He was fast paced, and carried Juvia with little troubles.

"We went back the same road, with much more speed than before... I wish there was more steps... I wish we'd go to a far away place..." Juvia squeezed his shoulder and set her head on her hand.

Half way through the ride, Gray shifted her and began talking loudly.

"I'm really sorry! I'm sorry... Next time, I absolutely won't let this happen again." Juvia blushed and wrapped her whole arms around his neck, hugging lightly.

"Next time... I'll wear sneakers, and on all the ones following it..." She couldn't contain a smile.

"If it's like that... What if it rains?" He huffed, even the back of his ears red. "I guess we would have to postpone."

"No, I'll wear long boots." Juvia said quickly. "And an umbrella."

"Snow? Or a storm?" He laughed under his breath.

"So he means... Gray is thinking about winter, and even summer." They stopped at the Lockser house and Juvia jumped off his back lightly, and Gray turned to look at her.

"Well... I guess we'll think about it... When the time comes." She stared at him, not breaking eye contact.

"Even if it's the way I am now... Then please take care of me..."

A slight smile revealed itself on Gray's face and he took a small step back. "Then! I'll see you soon,"
