Previously: after their date, Gray meets Natsu, Lyon, and Gajeel outside of his house. They all eat dinner together and Lyon said things that caused Gray to think. He declares he wants to have a Karate duel but Lyon turned it down. Juvia began to wonder what Gray liked about her and the next day she said good luck out of a window in the middle of class.

Levy hummed in excitement as her birthday approached. She'd been in a state of happiness since December rolled in, but once Christmas-and her birthday-crept closer. She couldn't help but share her happiness. Lucy glared at the short girl and set her hand on her shoulder.

"Term exams are coming up too." And with that, Levy was down in the dumps.

"I hate math..." She groaned and threw her stuff in her bag.

"Let's study together, you don't want extra classes during winter break. And your birthday. Plus Juvia is bad at every subject except Science and History." Lucy suggested, being the only one good in all subjects.

"But it's not that bad for her, if she gets extra classes, Juvia can see Gray everyday because of club."

"It's about you, not Juvia. Are you even going to try to study?" Lucy looked over at her popular friend as she sat there studying and practicing math. "Look at her."

Levy turned her gaze to the quiet girl "I feel betrayed..."

Juvia studied only out of fear of Gray ridiculing her and then breaking up. She didn't want that, so her only option was to study like crazy and hope for a miracle.

"Even though I'm not a good student, I want to prove to Gray I'm capable..."

"Then, Juvia." Levy skipped over to her. "You wang to come to my house to study over the weekend?"

"Sudden burst of energy?" The blonde questioned as Levy hummed to to the nodding girl, then shrugged. "I'll join you."

"Now let's invite Gray and Natsu!" Levy declared, making Lucy fold her arms and sigh.

"So that was your plan..." She looked away, "we don't have to invite Natsu..."

The shorter girl laughed, as if that was joke. "Why are you so mean to Natsu?" Lucy huffed, and looked away, "anyways I'll text him, see if he can go."

A moment later, the pink haired boy responded to Levy's study invite. "He said okay," Levy filled in. " 'but I think Gray probably wouldn't want to go to a girls house. How about my house?' He said."

"What?" Lucy said, a little shocked. "Why are we talking as if he's the focus?"

"You care too much," The short girl teased.

"Then, I'm not going."

"No fun!"

Saturday they decided they would meet at a park and head over to Natsu's house. When the day came, the pink haired boy informed them-after they all met-it was going to be at Gray's. Lucy ended up being dragged to come by Levy. They stood in front of Gray's, Natsu not bothering to inform him there would be a studying session at his house.

"Natsu?" A female adult voice said as she opened the front door. "What's going on? You came with girls."

"This is... Gray's mom..." Juvia thought, staring at the older, but still pretty, woman.

"It's almost time for tests, we wanted to all study together." He said, taking his shoes off at the entryway.

"Pardon our intrusion." Levy said, bowing with Lucy.

Juvia felt tongue tied, and a little overwhelmed. She knew Gray met her parents, but he was so calm all through the nerves. Then, his mom looked at her. Juvia blushed and did a small bow, only thinking about the fact that she's the one who gave birth to Gray. Her boyfriend. Before she knew it, or even processed it, Juvia stood in front of Gray's room and Natsu opened the door. She could hear her heart, pounding loudly.

"Funny coincidence, you're already studying!" The Dragneel said as he walked in, and her two friends followed.

"Heyo!" Levy sang, smiling happily.

Gray sat there shocked, but then Juvia walked in and he went red in the face. They stared at each other for a second, but Juvia couldn't remain calm. She sped to the small kotatsu that he and Natsu sat under and joined them. Lucy and Levy seconds behind.

"I can't believe I came... Without telling him." She blushed and stared at the wooden table. "Will he be mad?"

His mom walked in with some tea and other drinks, and soon left. The five brought out their study guides and pencils, getting ready to study. Gray was obviously angry at Natsu, and seethed a little as he went to work. Juvia couldn't help but look around his room, finding it fitting for him. Simple, but kept the essentials.

"Gotta concentrate." She told herself, knowing her winter break depended on the test exams. Juvia looked up at Gray, staring at his muscular frame. "It's my first time... Seeing him study."

The rooms door opened and his mom peeked in, smiling lightly. "Working hard?"

She remembered something Natsu said when they met at the park to head to Gray's house. That his mom knew about her, or at least the fact he had a girlfriend. Juvia stared at her, then decided, she should introduce herself. The beauty stood up slowly, catching Gray's jaw dropping a little in the corner of her eye. Juvia turned towards the Mom that stood at the doorway.

"Um..." She now caught everyone's attention, "my name is Locks... Lockser, Juvia."

"Now what do I say? I'm Gray's girlfriend?" She felt her legs shaking, and heat rising on her face.

"Are you, perhaps..." His Mom said, "girl-"

"Girlfriend!" Gray yelled, making everyone's gaze flip to him. Juvia was now the one shocked. He turned to Juvia, blushing with her.

"Wow!" Mom erupted, and Gray stumbled up. Rushing to close the door on her, "with such a beauty!"

"We need to study!" He shut the door and leaned up against the frame.

"Please take care of him, Juvia. I'm sorry he's like that!" She yelled from the other side.

"Gray said it... For so long, it didn't feel real but now, it's like all my problems were erased. Like it ensures my feelings were requited."

Levy pulled at Lucy and looked at Natsu. "Let's go to the convenience store!"

"Oh, me too!" The pink haired boy said, understanding the situation.

"Why?" Lucy said, getting pulled up.

"We're going!" The two left in a rush, the blonde being dragged away. Now they sat across from each other, awkwardly silent.

"On the 24th," Gray started, catching her attention. "Are you doing anything? Club activities end at noon."

"It's... Levy's birthday..." Juvia replied, getting a small oh from the raven haired boy. "On the 25th! I... I want to be with you... Club?"

"Probably," Gray said, blushing at her proclamation. "Start of winter break, before noon at the most."

Juvia smiled, happy she can spend Christmas with the one she likes. A frame caught her attention and she looked over at it. A middle school karate club photograph, she found Gray quickly. Then he ripped it from his dresser, holding it tightly away from her vision.

"Sor..." Juvia looked down sadly. "Sorry..."

"No," he sat up and stared at the photograph, his eyes falling in Lyon. "I'm sorry..."

"He... Must be embarrassed." She went back to studying, knowing the conversation ended. "I have to work hard,"

In a couple minutes, the three rejoined the couple. Levy wanted to know what happened while they were gone, but Juvia kept it to herself. She knew she needed to work hard, passing the midterms was everything. Juvia didn't want to disappoint Gray, or herself.

"Christmas is coming..."

For the next couple days, Juvia studied and kept up with all her school work. When the testing came, she breezed through it, not forgetting a single formula or a single word in English. Now her class buzzed anxiously as they waited for the teacher to come with results. Ms. Mirajane came in with a stack of slips, Juvia knew hers was in there. Lucy got hers first, and didn't seem fazed as she aced every single one. Juvia waited for the L's and when she called her name, the blue haired girl stood up and walked over quickly.

"You worked hard Ms. Lockser." The teacher said, smiling as she handed her the slip."but not hard enough."

The paper had five categories, History with a 80, Science a whopping 98- then came English and Math. Math was a sad 6 and English stood at a 49. Juvia felt her legs beginning to tremble, she clenched the results and walked back to her seat.

"Students who have failed a main course must take three days of extra lessons that start on the 25th." Ms. Mirajane declared, earning angry groans from the failing group in class.

Juvia only wanted to cry.
