10-What Will You See?
Where was he? Everything was black, but then suddenly turned white. As the white seemed to dim down, Yugi realized, this was an actual world. The sky, then turned yellow. It was a very light pale yellow, almost still completely white. There were clouds fluffy looking and tinted pink. The world seemed like one big island. Yugi looked down at his feet to see the ground's grass was pure green. Not a weed or twig laying on it. There were beautiful flowers of various colors, some wild, and some even rare that Yugi never thought in his wildest dreams he'd see. There were small birds and little rabbits hopping around. There were big and tall bright green trees with blossoms blooming on the sparkling green leaves.
Next to Yugi, was a stream flowing through the entire island. The water in the stream looked so clear and healthy, that if one were to drink any, they wouldn't get sick. Maybe even regain health. The water even had a golden looking color to it. Everything here was absolutely amazing. Unbelievably perfect. The very energy of this holy place made Yugi feel happy and safe. It was isolated with no people, but it just seemed almost better that way. No loud company. Nothing felt negative here. No evil showed any presence. No sins, only virtues. Only good and purity reigned on this forbidden place. A heavenly garden.
But, how the heck did he get here!?
All he remembered was that shadow-walker lady coming for him. He pushed Jou away, and then she was about to hit Yugi. After that everything in his vision turned black and then, this! He heard a voice though. A deep, baritone voice. It was a masculine voice, and it sounded magnificent. Similar to Yami's but, something told Yugi it wasn't Yami's at all. The voice was too gentle, too calm, too welcoming. Too...Pure. The voice said something, but Yugi wasn't too sure what he said. He couldn't remember. He must be dreaming. None of this could actually exist or be real.
Yugi didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to get out. Well, if he was going to be here for a while he mind as well sit down and calm his nerves a little. He sat down on the plush soft grass that almost felt like a cloud of soft feathers. The surface didn't even feel hard even though it was a piece of Earth. He sighed in relief and closed his eyes. This world seemed similar to another world he had been to before. Only that place was dark and corrupted. Blood was the sky and crimson hard rock was the ground. The only thing that existed, was one particular person.
It was Yami's world. His, 'see no evil' world. Yugi didn't like that place much. It was evil and too quiet. Nothing was good about that place, and it was sinful just to breath any air that consisted of that place. Yami was tied up in those red blood like ribbons like a bondage kink.
"Indeed, that was Yami's world." That voice! It was the same deep one from before! "I have been there before. And it did not used to be that evil." It was more clear, and louder. As if it was nearby. "I am nearby." The voice chuckled.
"..!" Yugi quickly looked up and looked around. Where was it?
"Follow the direction of my sound, young one." It instructed. There it was again. Whoever was speaking, might know a way out of here. Not that Yugi wanted to really leave. Who would want to leave this place? The only reason why Yugi wanted to get out of here was because he had a life to go back to. Plus, this was just a dream right? Getting out of here could mean waking up. So, there was no time to lose. The voice sounded like it coming from the left of him. Yugi stood up and dusted himself off of any dirt. He began to walk towards his left to the sound of that angelic voice.
He was in trouble! Yami felt Yugi's heart beat with fear. He knew he was in danger and it worried Yami greatly. He couldn't let anything happen to him! Ever since Yami went to that Kaiba Corporation building it's been one chaotic scene to the next.
Two Days Ago...
Back in Kaiba's office, he and Yami stood back to back, taking down shadow-walkers limping everywhere. The entire building was in chaos, and while some evacuated the building, some lost their lives to these monstrosities. Just after Kaiba gave Yami the info he needed, a swarm of artificial shadow-walkers burst through his door, breaking the lock and security. Everything was a mess. The desk was flipped over, his monitor had been destroyed, there was black liquid everywhere, and dead shadow-walkers littering the place.
It took almost an hour to kill them all. Yami realized they were after not himself, but Kaiba. Before he could question why, Kaiba ordered Yami to leave immediately. Saying it wasn't safe and that he could handle it on his own. Yami was about to protest to that, until he felt a presence nearby. The aura of the presence felt like another shadow-walker, an intelligent one. Yami's theory, was that they could be the cause of all these sudden attacks. So, Yami jumped out of the huge window that covered Kaiba's wall and flew towards the direction of of the person.
He flew around the city, eventually feeling the presence stronger as he came across an old looking store. It wasn't abandoned, but it seemed as if it was on it's last leg. It was a secluded little place away from the streets and common houses. Probably some old pawn shop. Yami jumped down and landed in front of the shop and felt the presence even stronger. And it was horrifyingly familiar. Yami then felt himself become nervous and worried. As he was about to walk in the shop, someone stopped him by stepping out. A ring of the rusted bell that sat atop the old wooden doors of the shop, chimed softly was they stepped out. The person was wearing a black robe, looking almost like the Grim Reaper himself. They had their head lowered, so Yami couldn't see their face.
"Err..." Yami didn't know what to say. This person'a aura, was way too familiar. Too...evil. Yami then flagged that idea to himself. Of course Yami was evil too but, this evil was overwhelming. Dangerously high. The person slightly looked up and made a big gasp.
"Is that you!? Long time no see!" An energetic voice chirped. And holy crap was it familiar. In fact, Yami then mentally cursed himself because he knew who this was. And frankly...
It was too late to turn back and run like hell.
The person lifted the hood of the cloak and showed their face. It appeared to be a young male. He had sandy blonde hair that gleamed nicely even without the sun that reached to his mid back, laying neatly and perfectly behind his back and on his shoulders. Bright purple eyes with black kohl lining them. He had a happy, or in Yami's opinion, 'creepy ass delighted' expression on his face that held a soft gentle smile.
"I thought I'd never see you again!" Before Yami could react, the male roughly grabbed him by the arm and hugged him uncomfortably tightly. And due to this person being a few inches taller than Yami, his weight was killing him. Yami swore he was going to choke. The person then let go and giggled. Yami then took this chance to do a back step a few feet away to keep his distance away from him. Yami scowled and prepared himself to fight, but not making a move. He kept his guard up, ready to attack. The person giggled again and tilted his head. "Oh Poison...You can't even hug me back?"
"As if I'd taint my arms even more by embracing you, Venom."
'Venom' took one step towards him and smirked. "You haven't changed at all, Yami."
Present Time in an Unknown place...
Yugi panted as he seemed to make his destination. He was on the ground, on his knees, panting after running for a good while. The voice was loudest hear, but it didn't say anything else once he finally got here. After running through gardens, past small streams and rivers, he came across a gigantic waterfall. Honestly, this was nature's best beauty. Vines filled with wild flowers blooming in it's veins, loomed over the water fall and over the rocks that stood to keep it in place. Below the water fall was a river that was probably connected to all the other streams and rivers. It wasn't that deep, so if someone were to step in it, they wouldn't fall in. Yugi lightly gasped in awe. This was the most beautiful sight anyone alive could see. He stood up on his feet and smiled a little at the scene. This was practically heaven. Yugi then frowned and noticed a shadow behind the water fall.
It was a silhouette of what looked like Yami. Yugi brightly smiled. He wondered why of all places he'd be here, but he wasn't complaining! He was here! He could help! Yugi took no time in jumping in and running through the river towards the water fall.
"Yami!" Yugi yelled as he ran through the water.
Once he did, he found himself running into another garden. Only this one seemed different from all the others. It seemed like the biggest, and the most beautiful. All the flowers looked like they were made out of gold, with emerald looking stems. The river that flowed through here as well, looked like the water literally had sparkles in them. As if a fairy flew across and sprinkled magic dust on it. Yugi looked around, there was no one here at all. Darn it...
A light splash caught Yugi's attention. He saw two feet in the river, stepping out onto the soft grass. Yugi followed upwards from the feet and looked at who he was gazing upon. Apparently, the person felt Yugi presence, because they looked up at him and gazed upon him as well.
Brown sun-kissed skin, strikingly similar features to Yami, and jewelry decorating his body. They had black spiky hair with red tips, golden blonde locks that framed his sleek face, and red eyes. There was black lining underneath his eyes too. He had in a golden necklace, anklets, rings, armbands. Everything was gold. He even had golden earrings as well. They had a sleek handsome face with a sleek nose and thin lips. This person had a muscular build as well, just like Yami. Even though he looked young, he seemed to be older than he looked. And even though this person and Yami looked almost completely identical, Yugi couldn't help but notice how serious and sincere his expression was. Yami always seemed like he had an evil glimpse in his eye, while this guy, seemed trustworthy. The guy had his eye lids lowered at Yugi, as if inspecting him with a glare. He made a small sigh, and just blinked at him.
"W-Wow..." Yugi thought in awe. This guy was just a gift to look at. Both he and Yami were amazingly attractive. Yugi felt himself blush and pause completely. He couldn't stop staring. Slightly moving his eyes downward, Yugi realized...
This guy was nude.
Yugi yelped and quickly looked away. He heard a hefty chuckle in response.
"It is alright. There is nothing I do not have on my body that you do not have as well. You may look if you wish." His voice, is the same as the one that guided him here. Yugi slowly looked back and felt his face warm up a little more. He gulped and licked his lips.
"Who are you?" Yugi whispered. The man made a small smile that made Yugi's heart flutter a little.
"I am who Yami calls, 'someone who is very special to him' trapped in a forbidden hell."
"There is someone who is very special to me trapped in hell." Yugi remembered what Yami said. But how did this guy know that?
"Yami isn't one to reminisce about the pass so I doubt he told you about me yet. Am I correct?" The man asked. His voice was so stern, filled with authority. Yugi gulped and slowly nodded. The man smiled at him again and raised his hand up as a gesture for no harm. "It is alright. You do not need to be so nervous." He said. Yugi closed his his eyes and sighed. He opened them back up and continued to stare at him.
"Do you mind, if I ask who you are?" Yugi asked quietly. The man nodded and placed a hand on his his chest. His head was held high, with pride and confidence just flaunting.
"My name, is Atem." 'Atem' cleared his throat and put his hand down.
"Okay...Atem. Who are you to Yami? You must be his friend that he was talking about." Yugi wanted answers. Yami never explained as to who his friend was and never gave him any back story. And like Atem said, Yami didn't seem like he was one to talk about the past. Atem shook his head as a no and smirked.
"Remember my name, and remember it well. For you will need to know it when the time comes, little one. Using my name on Yami, will clear your answers as to who I am." Atem explained. Use his name on Yami? Will that spark something in Yami's mind to make him tell Yugi? He didn't really explain that part.
"Uh. Where are we exactly? And how did I get here?" Yugi asked with a louder tone. Atem tilted his head a little and narrowed his eyes at Yugi. Examining him again.
"I assume you have never been here before. All light and pure users come here at least once in their life time. This is no dream. This is indeed real." Atem closed his eyes. "Excuse me.." Atem raised both his hands and crossed his arms into an 'X' shape. Suddenly, gold looking aura that looked almost like golden sand, rose up out of thin air from the ground and swirled around Atem's body. Pieces of white fabric began to appear. Clothes were now covering his body. He looked even more like royalty. A white kilt with gold lining, a white sleeveless top with golden lining, and white flats on his shoes had golden lining. Everything about this guy just screamed rich. If Yugi didn't know any better, he'd say he looked like a pharaoh. Yugi's done his research in history class, that had to be an ancient royal attire.
Yugi was always interested in Egyptian mythology, but never in his life did he expect to see an actual pharaoh. Yugi just stared in awe, realizing who he was talking to. He was speaking with a king! Even though Yugi's done his research, he never read anything about Atem's rule or Era.
"How old are you?" Yugi asked slowly. Atem put his hands to his sides and shrugged.
"About three thousand years of age. Or more..." Atem put a finger to his chin and looked down. "I have not been keeping track." He looked up and made an apologetic smile. "Forgive my ignorance, it has just been a very long time since I have actually spoken with anyone. And I do not talk much about myself, seeing how I am alone most days." He made a small chuckle, but to Yugi it wasn't funny. It was sad, actually. Was he here all alone for more than three thousand years? That's horrible...Yugi couldn't help but feel bad. Yugi fidgeted, moving side to to side with his legs from feeling awkward.
"Do you miss Yami?" Yugi asked anxiously. He felt that was not his place to ask, but he still wanted to know. Atem made a happy smile and nodded.
"Oh yes. I do so very much. We were very very close. Thanks to you, I can see him through your eyes."
"M-My eyes!?" Yugi flabbergasted. "How-" Atem cut him off.
"It is too much trouble to explain, little one. Let us just say I have great power beyond even Yami's understanding." Atem replied with another smug smirk. This guy was stronger than Yami? Darn it, he really needed some more information on this guy and not just some vague answers and riddles!
"So you're a light user too?" Yugi asked. Atem shook his head quickly.
"No. I am a dark user." He answered simply. What? How was a dark user able to even roam around here? This place basically forbid any evil what-so-ever. "Just because you are a dark user, does not mean you are not good-willed at heart. Not everything of pure comes here. For instance, you yourself are no longer completely pure because of Yami's influence. Anything that has a good heart and good intentions, however, is allowed to wander here." He crossed his arms and leaned on the rocky wall that cornered the garden. Well good, Yugi actually got a full answer on something. But, realizing Atem's explanation, that made him wonder. Was Atem a...
"Are you a shadow-walker too?" Yugi asked with his eyes slightly widening.
Atem sighed through his nose and closed his eyes. "Yes. I am." He straightened up and opened his eyes again. "I am the original." He was the what?! The original? What in the world did that mean? Did that mean Atem was the first shadow-walk to ever live on Earth or something? "Again, Yami will explain to you about all of this very soon. You must wait for him." Atem uncrossed his arms and began to walk closer to Yugi, making Yugi back away. "You have power strong enough to protect yourself for not only defense but for force as well." Atem put his hands on Yugi's shoulders to make him stay still. He stared right into his eyes, piercing though his soul. "I am going to help you awaken these powers, Yugi."
Yugi made a fearful expression. The heck was he planning on doing to him? "H-How do you know my-"
Atem's eyes turned bright yellow, his pupils becoming slits. The gaze of his eyes actually felt like he was piercing his soul! And it hurt! Yugi began to whimper, then yelp, and soon it turned into a full fledged scream.
"AAHH! STOP!" It was too much. There was too much power. He was overloading, it hurt. It hurts. He wanted it to stop. His vision was gone. He couldn't see a thing. Not Atem, not the beautiful world, not anything.
"Please, tell Yami I love him, and that I am sorry." He heard Atem say. His voice filled with regret and sorrow.
Yugi continued to scream until his vision went black again. However, before everything went black, Yugi swore he saw Atem's face turn into a dark and evil expression, with a sinister grin.
He promised to himself that he would remember Atem's name, and those two bright yellow eyes with snake like pupils.
Back to Yami, running into Venom was a terrible mistake. Why? Because he was on the ground, flat on his ass, panting like a dog with blood gushing out of his stomach. And Venom just stood over him, laughing like a maniac. After his laughter died down, he walked over to Yami, who was struggling to get back up, and knelt down to his eye level. Yami some how managed to sit up, but he could no longer move any further. It was just too painful. Damn, did he just feel an organ fall out? Yami could almost laugh himself. 'Venom'...The bastard didn't even deserve that nick name. The kid's name was actually Marik. And just the sound of his name made the saliva in his mouth turn into bile.
And see? This is why he never wanted to meet up with this bastard anyway! Damn it, he had no idea he would be here! Why couldn't he have been Toxin instead!? Marik stared at Yami with fake innocent eyes and made a gentle smile.
"I'm sorry, did that hurt~?" He teased. "I missed playing with you Yami!" He giggled again. Creepy bastard. "By the way, I know what your trying to do with that little light of yours. And I have to say...He's so cute!" He beamed with glee. Yami just coughed up blood in response and ignored him. Marik shook his head and laughed. "Yami Yami Yami...What happened to you? You were so powerful then. What happened?" Marik asked. Even though his twisted personality was so hard to take seriously, Marik honestly sounded sincere in his question. 'What happened'? The hell was that supposed to mean?
Yami knew damn well he wasn't questioning his strength. Yami was still strong, he still had his skills and his wits. He defeated Toxin several times in the past and not too long ago. But now all of a sudden, this wacko wanted to step on his pride for that!? Okay, so he beat him down and cut an organ out of him in less than fifteen minutes. So what?! He could take him down once this wound healed! He can regenerate fast enough! He could already feel his organ building itself back up in his stomach and he felt the gash close up.
"Aw. I remember how I used to rile you up all this time! It was so much fun. Wasn't it?" Marik lowered his voice dangerously low and leaned his face closer to Yami, who turned away and clenched his teeth in anger. "Yeah. You remember. When Bakura beat you down to a pulp like the little wretch you are." He made a grin and leaned closer to Yami's ear. Breathing lightly on his neck. "And you remember, when I killed your prince." He felt him chuckle. "Hey, I might make up for that memory by killing your precious pure essence too."
One more word and Yami was going to snap. That was the thing with Marik. He could get you so angry that you would lose yourself and just go crazy. This insane cruel bastard, could make you succumb to insanity as well. And that, was a dangerous weapon he mastered. The violent power of words. Yami could not take anymore of his insults. The entire time he was getting beaten down, Marik always taunted him. That was how he got him down in the first place. First they would be simple little remarks, that would turn into full-fledged personal insults that one could easily take to the heart. He could break you down painfully and slowly. And it annoyed Yami so much that he was able to bring him down so easily, just like three thousand years ago.
Yami felt a moist feeling on his earlobe. The bitch licked his ear.
"But you know, nothing beats the memory...when I tore Atem's fucking heart out-"
Yami sucker punched Marik in the face, connecting his fist with his mouth. Knocking him back and landing flat on his ass. Marik groaned and covered his mouth. Yami's knuckles were now in pain and bleeding, meaning he hit something hard. Yami evilly smirked, because that was a good sign.
That must have meant he knocked his fucking teeth right in his throat.
Present Time in the Park...
Yugi's vision was so blurry. And his hearing was faint. He could barely hear something, it was muffled though. It sounded like yelling, and he heard a growl. He saw a blur of grey in front of him. What was that? And why did his head feel so foggy all of a sudden? Yugi blinked his eyes and shook his head to try to clear his mind. And once he did, his vision started to become normal, and his hearing slowly faded back. Now he could really hear that yelling, but who was it? It kinda sounded like Jou-!
Oh crap. He almost completely forgot what he was dealing with! Once his vision cleared completely, he saw what he was afraid of before. That female shadow thing! It was coming his way! Now he remembered! Jou was yelling at him, telling him to get out of the way. And this thing was snarling at him, trying to reach for him. Yugi then panicked. What the heck was he supposed to do!? He was going to die!He didn't want to die! Not so young! He had so many things to do first. Like help grandpa with the shop, get into college, get a good job, make Yami pay for not visiting him...
"Yami..."
Why Yami was one of Yugi's priorities before he died, he had no clue. But he did wanted to see Yami. He wanted to see him again and make him apologize for not seeing him and not saving him. He wanted to...yell at him, and then forgive him. He wanted him to act all flirty with him again and read his mind without his permission. He wanted to see Yami again...He wanted Yami.
He wanted to live so he could see Yami again - he had to see Yami again!
As the shadow walker almost grabbed Yugi's shoulder, she stopped and began to hiss in fear. She took two steps back and growled at Yugi. Yugi clenched his fists tightly and bit his lip. He wasn't afraid. He had no fear. He was stronger than this.
Do not be afraid.
Everything is alright. Awaken your power. You are not weak. Show no fear.
Awaken your power. Show them that you are no weakling.
Show them, so that you can see Yami again.
Yugi's eyes began to glow white, his pupils and amethyst iris in both his eyes, disappeared. His hands began to glow as well with pure white aura, that began to also engulf his arms. The shadow-walker began to back away more, fearful of Yugi's awakened power. He began to step closer, and bringing his arms across his chest to make an 'X' shape. The shadow-walker whimpered and fell backwards onto the ground. She began trying to crawl away, but that glare in Yugi's eyes made her pause and stare in terror.
A white orb began to form from Yugi's chest where his arms were, and grew bigger and bigger by each second. It became the size of a large bowling ball. The orb then flickered it's light, like a broken light bulb, before blasting the shadow-walker beneath Yugi. She screamed, it was so hoarse and painful to hear, but for Yugi, it was no problem. The shadow-walker screamed even louder as she was disintegrating into black ashes. The force was so strong, a powerful wind began to pick up, blowing the pure essence more into the shadow-walker. And making her chance of survival to a minimum.
Her screams died down as her ashes fell to the ground, blowing away into the wind. Yugi's blast then began to die out, and soon faded away as well. Yugi uncrossed his arms and closed his eyes. He whimpered and fell to his knees, using his hands to support himself from falling to the ground. His chest began to hurt. He coughed and hacked, spit beginning to flail out of his mouth. That...was way too much power to control. His body felt like it was on fire.
But wasn't that okay? Because, that meant he was alive, didn't it?
Yugi made a pained smile and coughed again. He was alive. He wasn't dead. He was hurt and in pain, he could feel. He was alive!
He felt a hand pat on his back, rubbing it slowly in attempts to comfort him.
"Holy crap..." He heard a familiar voice. Jounouchi. He helped Yugi on his feet by grabbing his hand and carefully, but firmly pulling him up. Yugi felt himself lose his balance and fell towards Jou's stomach. He coughed and hacked again, gripping his shirt for support. Jou kept patting and rubbing his back to try to make him better, but it didn't seem to be working. "Yug'..." Jou started. "How in the hell did you do that?" He asked, his voice surprisingly quiet. "You saved us."
Yugi coughed again and shook his head. "I-I have no idea. But please. I just wanna go home now Jounouchi." His voice was so weak, it made Jou worried. He narrowed his eyes at Yugi and sighed.
"Alright buddy, you win. But I better get an explanation tomorrow, 'kay?" Jou smiled at Yugi, who nodded in return. Picking up the bags of prizes from the arcades, Jou helped Yugi out of the park. And the two teens walked back to the Kame Shop.
END 11
Okay, let's see...There is a big reference in the beginning and middle of this chapter. It's even in the title of the chapter. If you are a Tekken fan and have played Tag Team Tournament 2, you might get it if you really pay attention. Still don't understand? Look up Heavenly Garden-Tekken and look for the soundtrack. Then, look at the title of the song and listen to it while reading the first and middle part of the story. Also, I will give a hint to what will happen in the next chapter. Four words: "Answered questions, revealed, and romance." Also, to the people who thought Venom was Marik, DING DING you deserve a double fudge cookie.
