19-You're a Monster
Once again, the scream was very loud. but it didn't linger for long like last time. Yugi wanted to stop, just stop everything he was doing and help Yami up and heal him. He hated hurting the ones he loved. He hated hurting the only love he had in this world left. But he couldn't stop, because if he did, Yami would either die from that attack, or stay in this state forever. Neither would suffice for anyone. Yugi gulped, ignored his cascade of tears and reached towards Yami's face. He was still reacting to the pain, even though the attack already done it's job. His face was still shocked, scared. Fearing that the intensity of this pain would be his downfall. Pain was scary after all, and it was one of the worst ways to die.
Yugi placed a hand on his forehead, his palm slightly glowing white. Yami moaned even more in painful agony. They weren't too loud. They were quiet, as if almost not even trying. The boy of light sniffled and quivered as he allowed his pure energy to flow within Yami's head. He could only imagine-
Yami's brain was practically being fried.
Slowly, the monster of darkness began losing consciousness. His moans silencing, and his body stiffening. Soon, much to Yugi's horror, the monster went limp.
He was gone.
It was a beautiful building of white. So white it could blind you if you stared too much. Beautiful stain glass on every window. Glossy floors, soft plush chairs to sit in. They were in rows, aisles. As if an audience was supposed to be here, to witness something gorgeous happen. This holy place was for chastity. A woman's dream to be tied to their love. It was a woman's dream to be in this place. To have a ring slipped onto her finger as the person that stood beside her and her spouse would marry them.
This church, was corrupted however. Not so much in a sinful way, since depression didn't count as a deadly sin anymore. But it was, gloomy. Intense sorrowful mists of aura was trapped within the building, with no means of escaping. Only emotional pain and sadness existed in this place. Only one person, not counting the two corpses, was present.
This person, was standing in the middle of the aisle. His hands folded in front of him, his face distracted. Waiting for something, or someone. Perhaps waiting for a married man to marry him. Marry him to special people whom he held so dear. Some would think it is unheard of to have two lovers at once in a three-way relationship. Someone would think that being in love with a man, or rather, men, would be sinful. For Yami though, he didn't care. He didn't care if he were to be damned to hell for loving another of his own gender. For loving two men at once. He wanted to do this. He wanted to be tied to them forever. Love was too strong of an emotion, for him to back down from fear of being judged.
The corpses of his two beloveds stood there next to him. Dressed in fine tuxes, like himself. Yami wore black, the dead body of Atem wore grey, and the dead body of Yugi wore white. That was how this space was. The world they were in, to which this church resided, black and white were its colors. Blank and empty. They were beautiful, more so than ever. Though, when Yami turned his head to glance at them once more, he realized...
...Perhaps he should have cleaned the blood off of them first.
The blood dripped on the glossy floor. Atem, his chest still ripped into nothing, was bleeding completely through his tux. Blood pouring out of his mouth, his eyes vacant to the world. His head drooped, like a zombie. Yugi, the bruises were still all over his fragile body. His eyes were wide yet colorless. Blood dripping from his lip and his head. His head was slightly tilted, as if mentally damaged.
Well, it was still okay. After all, this was what he loved. He was ready to be tied to this-
Something suddenly whirled past Yami's head. Too close for comfort, but frankly, he didn't care. He slowly turned his head towards the front doors of the church. One of the doors were thrown off of its hinges, its door knob off. The shadow-walker blankly stared, not knowing what had happened.
"So this is what happens when I leave you alone?" Footsteps...Another Atem. Though this Atem that just walked in, he was alive and well. Not a bruise or wound on his perfect caramel skin. Still wearing that Egyptian attire. "You end up going crazy, just because you see Yugi's body severely wounded? The boy was not even dead, Yami!"
The shadow-walker only continued to stare.
Atem scowled, swinging a fist at his dead double. With one hit, it fell down to the floor, its blood spreading. He glanced at the corpse of Yugi, and that only made his blood boil even more. Gripping the dead boy by the back of his collar, he glared at his former lover.
"This? This is what you're in love with!?" He threw the body onto the floor, joining the other. "Pain and death? That is what you're in love with Yami!?" He yelled. "I am so disappointed, so angry with you, I could tear you apart!"
For once, the shadow-walker's response changed his boring expression, into an angry one as well. "Do not get in the way of what I want." It took Atem a second to realize, that Yami held a blade made of shadows in his hand. He slowly raised his arm, pointing it at his former king.
Atem only lowered his eyes, his frown growing deeper. Unimpressed, he gave a short exasperated chuckle. "Really now?" The original shadow-walker spread out his arms, as if giving an embrace. "Then do it!" He commanded. "Kill me again Yami!"
Kill me again
Kill me again
Kill me once again
"Do it! What have you got to lose!?"
What to lose...
What to lose...
What is of value in this world?
"Why are you hesitating!? Do it!"
Do it
Do it
Hurt Atem again?
"Go ahead! Destroy the one person Yugi has left in this world! Because clearly, you're too far gone to even be considered alive anymore!"
His arm shook violently. His teeth clenched, and his body trembled. Too much pressure. Too much. Too much guilt. Too much pain.
Too much acceptance.
Yami began stepping backwards. Atem was walking towards him, and he did not like that. The blade in his hand dropped. He tripped over his own feet, falling backward. He yelped, he was falling down. Until he was tightly seized. Something warm..Warm like the sun. He slowly looked upwards, seeing the only thing of color in this world, his former lover's face. Atem's face was no longer furious, only sad and sympathetic.
"I see that you do still love me. No wonder you were being married to something that looked like me. You love us both..."
Don't you Yami?
All Yami saw next, were inky grey tears. Tears dripping down his face like a woman's running make up. His tears flowed graciously like a river, his lip trembled a little. Once again in such a long time, has he allowed anyone to see him break down and cry. Atem stood Yami upright, only to be embraced in a tight hug, with black stains dripping on his white clothes. Atem didn't mind. He only made a small smile.
As grey continued to fill his eye sight, Yami once again, loss consciousness. Everything went black.
Red eyes snapped open. Though, their vision was very blurry. They had a hard time adjusting to what was happening.
Men in black, heavy armor. They marched through the crumbled up streets. It was like an army of humans. He saw police men, those SWAT men, even FBI men walking around the streets. Even those men he saw at the quarantine zones.
Seto's helicopter, it was gone. Toxin, Venom, no one was to be seen. Everyone was gone. Even Yugi's body...Wasn't he passed out on the ground? And wasn't he beaten? How could he even move or wake up for that matter?
A loud monotone beeping noise went through his ears. Geez, he was developing a head ache now. He couldn't hear a thing. And God did his chest hurt! He groaned painfully, trying to sit up. Alright, he sat up. He could feel, his chest hurt, he had a headache, and he couldn't hear. Now let's try to review what in hell happened before he passed out. He remembered Seto being here, and he fought Toxin and Venom at once. Wow, at once. That was pretty impressive for himself. Seto managed to some how butt in...And he was..fighting him. Why would Seto fight him, his ally? That didn't make any sense, but knowing the man and his ancestor, he had to do it for a good reason.
He needed to get up, focus his vision and find Yugi. Seto would be inf on his own, he could get himself out of sticky situations when need be. He just needed to-
"..ami..."
He blinked slowly. Where was that?
"...ami..!"
It sounded familiar. Like-
"Yami!"
Yugi.
"Yami, you're awake!" The boy smiled brightly, but was soon faded into a troubling frown. "We have to get out of here. I hid us behind some ruble. Pegasus has authorities everywhere and they're looking for you."
The shadow-walker only stared, breathing irregularly, his eyes still slightly shaking. "..I...What?" What was happening?
Yugi began to panic. If Yami was still dazed by that 'mind-raping', there was no way they could escape in time without being noticed. Pegasus had permission by the government to lead an army of policemen and SWAT all over the city to lock it down. He even some how got the national guard involved. As the city was evacuated, Pegasus was trying to lock it down to keep anything, such as a shadow-walker, from coming in or out. He knew Yami, Marik, Akefia and Seto were here. Meaning, he'd be looking for them, and that he and Yami had to leave now or they'd really get into trouble.
He began to try and adjust Yami, somehow getting him to his knees rather than laying flat on his butt.
"Yami, please tell me you can move."
The shadow-walker in question slowly nodded, taking another double take on the situation at hand. "Pegasus is looking for me? Where did everyone go? And what the hell is happening? And what happened to me..?" That last question was a bit mumbled, but Yugi understood quite well. He stood up on his own feet and helped his partner up to his.
"I'll explain later. Right now, we just need to leave or we're going regret it!" Noticing the panic in Yugi's voice, Yami realized something was definitely wrong. His vision finally cleared, see the lovable image of his partner, whom had a very anxious expression. He looked around one more time, and finally realized, they were slowly but effectively being surrounded. And this cute little hiding spot behind some rubble wasn't gonna cut it for much longer. Yami cursed to himself. Yes, he could fly them out of there quickly, but they would be spotted all too easily. And, they might be shot at and followed. Yes, he could easily take out every single one of these humans, including Pegasus, despite the numbers. He practically almost took down an entire quarantine site, single handed if not for Seto. However, that was needless bloodshed. For not all of these men were soldiers from the quarantine zones. They didn't deserve death like Pegasus did. Not only that, but he was sure Yugi would be very upset with Yami if he started to massacre everyone in sight. Plus, that would only cause more trouble, which might result in the humans bringing a bigger army of their military.
So violence wasn't an option and neither was flying. Running was, however. And as much as Yami hated it, he had no choice. For his own benefit and Yugi's safety, they had to escape, and try to escape without having to use violence for defending themselves. If the situation forced it, they would have no choice, but for now, they had to do this as peaceful and as stealthy as possible. Yami seized his partner's wrist, pulling him close.
"Yami?" Yugi called to his partner. The dark one held on tightly to the smaller one's wrist.
"Do not stray away from me, and stay close. This can only work if you're this close to me."
The boy frowned in confusion. The dark one slowly glided his hand over himself and the boy. When Yugi looked down, he saw the shadows, inky-like black pools morphing and moving like slime. They began to move upwards, inking up towards the sky, near Yami's height. They began to spread almost like a parasol above them, and falling back down over them to their feet, a curved downwards hill. The shadows engulfed the two, an oval shaped orb. The blackness of the force field reminded Yugi of the shaded car windows he once saw before. It was almost pitch black, but he could still faintly see through the shield. Holding onto Yami's hand, the dark one began to run, his grip tightening on Yugi's wrist. Yugi was forced to run as well, but quickly picked up the pace. With this shield, they were invisible to the outside world, almost like a one-way glass. They can see everyone else, but no one could see them.
Then suddenly, what caught Yami's eye was Yugi. He was slowly running farther and farther ahead of him. He looked down at Yugi's feet and saw that they had white aura clouding around them. Yugi must have summoned some of his power to his feet to make him run faster. Yami noticed the glow of his aura flickered a bit, almost darkening, but it was quick. Probably had some trouble doing the action. Yami smirked at this, the boy was progressing amazing with his abilities. He had to thank Atem for awakening them in the first place. Yugi was now a very useful ally.
The dark one began to do the same, shadows surrounding his boots as he ran with his partner away from the ruins of the big fight that erupted.
Panting. "Are you..." Pant. "Sure this is the way?" Yugi barely spoke. The boy of light was holding onto his knees, almost squatting. He was out of breath and panting heavily. Yami was doing the same. They had to have ran some miles away from the middle town. They ran off completely away from the streets and ran to the wilderness. Yami made the decision to escape to his house. Because the area was secluded from the city, they had to run into the forests, the trees that surrounded the house. There was indeed a road that led to the house too, but Yami feared they could easily be spotted or followed near any street or road available. Though, considering the house is abandoned, no one might not have bothered to look there, but he didn't want to risk it.
Finally catching his breath, Yami helped his partner to stand up straight. "Yes. In fact, we are very close. Do not worry."
Before they could start sprinting again, they heard some quick shuffling, like footsteps. They heard some leaves rustling as well. Yami clenched his teeth. They found them.
"Shit!" Yami cursed. While running a good distance away from town, Yami had let down the shield, so they were in plain sight now. And there was no sense in running. They'd only be followed, and they would know the location of the house. They had to fight.
Before Yami could tell Yugi to get back or prepare himself to fight, he saw that the little one already had his fists ready. They were down at his sides, but they were clenched tightly, and they were glowing white. If he could, Yami would kiss Yugi as of now. His Yugi, ready to fight! Eyes hard and stern, a scowl drawn on his face with a mean expression. He loved this image. If he could, he'd take a picture and cherish it forever.
The men in black had very large guns. Machine guns. Rifles. Shotguns. An AK 47 here and there. The SWAT had found them. Those familiar letters decorated their black metal vests. Their commander shouted an order, and they all aimed their guns at once in perfect sync.
Yami didn't want to give them any chances. So before the commander could tell them to shoot, it was too late. The dark one was already in the face of a soldier, and sucker punching him square in the face, knocking that glass-like mask off of his face and his helmet tumbling to the ground. They began to fire at Yami, but he was too quick for them. He quickly looked back at his companion, only to see him kicking and punching down soldiers as well. He could only smirk at the little one's actions. He returned his attention to his own enemies, and began to slaughter them carelessly. And by carelessly, he meant quickly.
One of the quickest ways to kill a person would be decapitation. So, he ripped off the heads of any soldier he saw in sight. Throwing their heads somewhere in the distance. They would disintegrate anyhow. Well, his group of enemies died quickly. They all dropped to the ground like pins on a wood floor. He heard some light grunts and a few thuds. He turned back to his partner once more to see that he was once again doing well on his own.
As for Yugi, this was the perfect chance to prove to Yami how powerful he was. He wanted to impress him, and show him that he can be strong like he and Atem can be. He took down at least seven soldiers so far. He wasn't as quick as Yami, simply because he didn't like killing. He wasn't killing his enemies, he was only knocking them out. How? Well, Yugi remembered that his grandfather used to teach him about the seven chakra points of the body. The head, third eye or the brow, the throat, heart, abdomen, pelvis and finally, the base of the spine. He hated the feeling of ending another person's life, so he'd rather make sure they're at least unconscious. He used his light magic to make his attacks stronger. He lightly punched and kicked those exact points on his enemies, making them drop easily.
Yugi wasn't a master of martial arts, and he sure as heck wouldn't know how to execute any of those kind of attacks correctly either. So he thought of an idea, and quick. If he could channel his light magic inside of someone's body by touching a pressure point or close enough to one, that magic would immediately travel to that chakra point like a virus and damage it. Either taking the enemy down painfully, or numbing them throughout that part of the body. However, he had to touch the chakra point lightly. For if he hit too hard, the person might get paralyzed or die.
And who would have thought, his planned worked flawlessly. On his own, he took down seven SWAT soldiers almost as good as Yami could without fatally harming them. The last soldier he was fighting was to go down soon. He made him drop his gun to the ground, piling against the other weapons dropped by the others. The solider ran towards Yugi, but the boy swiftly moved out of the way, and gave a light punch to the man's back. Right in his spine. The light magic absorbed within him like a suction cup, and soon, he fell with the rest of them. Right on the ground next to his weapon.
The boy of light panted lightly, sweating a little. He realized what he just did, and praised himself for getting stronger and stronger.
"Excellent." His dark partner complemented. Yugi turned around, almost forgetting that he wasn't here alone. Yami was smiling at him. "Once again, you have shown me that you're becoming even more powerful. I am proud." He stepped towards him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Great job, Yugi."
The boy's facial features blossomed with happiness. A huge smile danced across his lips as he began to grin. His adorable cheeks lightly drew red as he scratched behind his head. "Thanks I guess."
Yami lightly shut the front door and made his way to the couch. Dropping onto a cushion and sprawling himself all over the piece of furniture. Yugi chuckled at the sight of him. He looked so lazy and shiftless. He gently pushed his legs out of the way to make some room, and sat down next to his partner. The boy's smile then frowned angrily.
"I just noticed...Where the heck are the clothes I lent you!?"
"Err..." The dark one stammered. "See...about that. Uhh..." How was he supposed to explain to Yugi that he got kidnapped by Pegasus, almost got anal probed, experimented on, and tied up to some cords in some alien tube, stark naked? Those bastards probably stole his clothes when they took it off of him as he was passed out. Yugi sighed.
"It's alright. I understand you were in a tight situation. I can only imagine that the clothes got torn or ripped or got bloody stains all over it." The boy chuckled. Yami tilted his head a bit.
"How did you know something happened to me?"
"Well for one, you never talked to me in our mind-link the entire time. I assumed something bad happened."
That reminded him...
Yami sat up from his lazy position and pulled Yugi closer. He put his hands out to Yugi, his palms in plain sight. The boy was confused. Suddenly, a small cloud of dark magic began to develop in the shadow-walker's hands. Something began to appear in his palms. Something grayish, like dust or dirt. "Try to find a jar or vase to put this in."
Jar or vase? You only put stuff like ashes into those.
Yugi's eyes widened, while his companion held a soft and sympathetic expression with a sad frown.
"This is Sugoroku. Or at least...What's left of him."
The light one's tears began to run down his cheeks, his mouth slightly open, staring at the pile of ashes. He almost completely forgot about Jii-chan. They way he was killed. So much blood...
He could never see or talk to him again.
A small young boy sat in his grandfather's lap, playing with his beard. He giggled as the old man picked him up and swung him around in the air like a jet.
The boy's parents had to leave for another business trip, leaving him with his lovable grandfather once more. He didn't mind. This was his favorite parent regardless. He loved spending time with the man. He always played Duel Monsters with him, or gave him candy, or read him bedtime stories or told about his adventures in Egypt.
The old man always treated him as if he were his own. He even let him help in the shop sometimes, always promising that he'd become a full time employee when he got older.
For years and years, ever since the boy was only eight years old, they've been the best of friends. Even when the boy's parents died, he was there for him to cheer him right back up. He was his father, his mother, his picket fence, his guardian. He was his everything, and his closet companion in his entire life.
He was the best father he ever had. His beloved 'Jii-chan', Sugoroku.
He couldn't stop crying. He didn't even realize that he was slumped over on the couch, crying and wailing into his hands. For the flashbacks of his grandfather just wouldn't stop. He felt like his heart was being ripped apart, but being stitched right back up over and over again. As if someone was hurting him, but that someone else was repairing him at once. It confused him, making the situation even worse.
The dark one slipped the ashes in a jar he found somewhere in the living room. It was a nice jar. It wasn't too tiny, but it wasn't large. It had a beautiful golden like design on it, and it was a bright white. White and gold...Colors that represented Atem and Yugi greatly. This was a perfect place to put them. He walked over to his sobbing mate and placed the small jar in his hands. Yugi stiffened once it touched his hands.
"I am sorry." Was all he could say to him. Yugi's loud sobs soon came to quiet sniffles. He trembled, and shook as he stared at the beautiful jar.
Jii-chan...
He dropped the jar, and fell backwards onto the couch and blacked out in one instant.
Yami quickly caught the jar and sighed in relief. The ashes could have gotten scattered. He looked down at the boy, feeling sad and guilty. He could only imagine his pain. He must have passed out from exhaustion.
Yami placed the jar onto a nightstand and went over to pick up his lover. Before taking him up into his arms, he placed a small kiss onto his cheek and stood up.
Monster...
He stopped and put Yugi back down on the couch. What was that?
You're a monster.
Monster...?
You destroyed the city.
Were the shadows talking to him?
You destroyed everything. You turned into that thing.
That thing...
He never had grotesque sharp nails, or visible blue veins pulsing and beeping throughout his body. Or black blood dripping down his hands and mouth. This was a monstrosity gone wrong. This was no normal shadow-walker anymore. This was truly a shadow beast.
The reason why Pegasus was searching the city...The reason why the city was so damaged...The reason why Seto had to fight against him..The reason why he almost killed Venom and Toxin...
...Was because he turned into a shadow beast.
He was the reason for everything. Atem being trapped in Limbo, Yugi getting hurt, Sugoroku's murder, Yugi's home being destroyed, making the boy's life a living hell...
It was all his fault.
And he remembered Atem walking in his mind. Saying the words, "You love us both, don't you Yami?"
He would accept it. The monstrous bastard was right. He was in love with them both. He felt so much for Yugi, but still felt a strong love for Atem too. As much as he hated it and despised it, he couldn't forget him. Even though he ended the relationship, that meant nothing.
But how could he love either of them, if he continued to hurt them constantly? He just couldn't stand himself.
And how can one love another, when they do not even love themselves?
Before he caused the boy anymore pain, he needed to leave. If he could just get those keys back from Pegasus and open the gateway himself, this could finally be over, and he wouldn't have to cause Yugi anymore pain. He could just use one of the keys to protect him from the harsh energy of Limbo. No problem. He glanced down at his lover one more time, before speed walking to the door and leaving the house.
"You can't do this!" Toxin yelled. After Yami passed out from that brat, Yugi, blasting him in the chest, Marik some how carried Toxin back to their abandoned building. He angrily tied him up, and even had the audacity to kidnap his light, Ryou, and bring him here. He tied him up as well, and the poor thing was crying. He was scared.
This was the price they had to pay for being useless, for being weak. Ryou was only still alive that entire time because of his light aura. He couldn't use it like Yugi, making him weak and useless. Toxin was some what decent, but not strong enough for Yami obviously. He had bested Toxin twice now, and twice was enough for failure.
So what better way to use useless weaklings, than to make them useful? It was simple, Marik thought as he finished drawing the seal on the floor around his two victims. Using his own blood, he created the array circle to open the gateway to Limbo. Once again, it was a simple recipe. All you need, is a dark user, being a shadow-walker, vampire, fallen angel or any other demonic or evil being, and a light user. An angel, or even a twilight user would be good enough. Plus, he could use his own aura, being a hybrid of dark and light and walk throughout Limbo with ease. Which is how he escaped Oblivion. Having DID, or Dissociative Identity Disorder, meant that he technically wasn't just one person, but two. Having another personality that though it was a shadow-walker, made things even easier. His body was in a half. One half worked light magic, the regular Marik. While the other half worked dark magic, the evil Marik, or Venom. Because he could manipulate his body's magic powers so well, he was a great ally to Akefia, the true Akefia.
The true Akefia 'saw no evil' like Yami did, so he can easily see how much Marik was loyal to him. He didn't need these weaklings. He'd be doing him a huge favor.
He began to chant with perfect pronunciation the spell. The spell that triggered the unholy doors of Limbo. A bright red light began to glow from the circle. Toxin began to panic, as Ryou started to scream for help.
"Venom! If you kill us, you'll never bring back all of the true Akefia's power! You're making a grave mistake!"
Marik lightly tilted his head, an innocent confused expression taunted Toxin. "You dare question Akefia's power? I hope you have a wonderful time in hell, Toxin. You and your beloved Ryou both." He began to giggle, as the ground began to shake. A bright light shined all throughout the building, and the only thing anyone would be able to hear, is horrid screaming, and the violent sounds of the tremors.
The gates of Limbo, have been opened once again.
END 20
Her Little Boy may be put on hiatus for while. This story is almost finished, and I would like to finish this before working on another story. So hang tight for the next update, lovelies.
