20-Sorry Love, No More
The poor man looked exactly like him. It was hard to miss. Same spiky head, only covered with a scarf. Same dark purple eyes, that gray mustache. He loved his grandfather. The old man had never been closer to any other loved one besides his dead wife. The boy was a special prodigy. He trained him when his son never did. Potty trained him when his daughter-in-law escaped off with her husband. The man wondered...If his kids even wanted the boy. They boy was never spent time with him. Never stayed home, only visited. And that was only for a few hours. The boy barely saw his parents in his life. And when they died when he was only eight, that only made things worse.
The boy was strong. He barely felt anything when his parents died. Barely a tear when standing at the two coffins of his mother and father. Maybe because he barely knew them. Now, as the boy grew into a teen, he didn't even remember what they looked like.
Wasn't his fault...How could he love what was barely there?
But that's why he loved Sugoroku. Because he was there. Because he was the only one there for him. The one who helped him ride a bike. The one who walked him to school. The one who sat in the front row for his school award ceremony. His fifth grade graduation. His middle school graduation and so much more.
But more importantly, he was the one. The only one there for him.
Yugi always thought he would die from old age or something with his heart-
-But never murdered.
"Jii-chan..."
Marik...
"Looking for this?"
Venom..
"..!"
The boy of light woke up crying. He didn't sit up or pant heavily while sweating like in the movies. He just laid there, eyes wide open pooling tears down his pale cheeks. He whimpered and sniffled as he continued to sob. He just couldn't stop knowing his only parent, the most important person in the world, gone. Yes, Yami and Atem were extremely important to him too, but jii-chan came first before anyone. The man just came back from a trip, and bam. Dead. He remembered all the blood...Stabbed right in the stomach. Dark purple eyes lifeless, a pained expression with blood dribbling from his lips.
He hated that memory, and he wanted it to just disappear.
He wanted to disappear...
And speaking of loved ones-
Yugi slowly sat up on the white couch and looked around. Where the heck was Yami? He stood up, beginning to walk around the living room. He didn't feel his presence nearby. He couldn't have left again. He better not have!
Panicking, Yugi ran in the kitchen, the dining room, the basement, upstairs in all bedrooms, bathrooms, and even the attic. He closed his eyes, focusing his mind on their mind-link.
"Yami!?"
No answer.
Yami just wasn't here.
Yugi... A sad voice called out.
"Atem?"
... No answer back...
Yami has left.
"Left...? What do you mean!? He cbouldn't have-"
He left, Yugi. He ran out the front door.
But...why...why would Yami do that..
He didn't want to make your life any worse, so he left to find the keys on his own.
"Make my life any worse...?" Yugi's eyes shook as even more tears fell. How in the world did the man that he loved made his life bad? He made him happy, and they had fun together. Hell, they almost had sex on his grandfather's couch. They kissed, touched, rubbed, laughed and smiled together. They went through so much, so much, only to leave him now.
Yugi, be realistic. Atem spoke, his voice low and quiet. Look at everything that has happened. Your friends are gone, your home has been destroyed, and you and Sugoroku would still be safe away from this madness if you were evacuated out of the city along with everyone else. You were not because Pegasus knew you were associated with Yami. Had Yami not met you, you would not have been on Akefia and Marik's hit list. Had you not met Yami, your grandfather would be alive. Had you not met Yami, you would have never had been beaten to absolute bloody pulp.
Yugi only continued to sniffle as the last of his tears rolled down.
The truth hurt.
And it angered him. Yugi clenched his teeth and scowled. "So what then?! You think it was the best thing to do!? You think this was a good idea!?"
Atem's voice hesitated. Yes and no. Yes, because Yami is indeed a threat to you. Your life has been hell since you met him and I. Had he never sought after you for my sake, you would have never had to endure this emotional and physical ride. However, no, because it is too late for him to turn back on you now. You're in love, whether I like it or not. He has no right to abandon you now. You two are tied, permanently bonded. Part of me feels relieved that he would leave you just for your own sake, but part of me is furious that he would leave you alone selfishly. I would much rather you chase after him, and prove him wrong. Neither of you deserves to be alone, not again.
Yugi weighed his options after Atem's response. He had to find Yami. He wasn't responding to his mind-link, and he couldn't sense him. He would lose so much time just running around the city, and he might get in trouble by some authorities. He had no idea where he could be, and he didn't know how to contact him. And even if he could contact him, how could he convince him to come back?
"I will protect you whenever harms comes your way again, Yugi."
That was it! Yugi could almost smile. He glanced at the door, and sprinted out of the house, beginning to run through the woods to try to make it to the city as fast as he could.
Yugi, what are you doing!? It is dangerous out there!
"I know that! But I have an idea!" Yugi had a ghost of a smile.
And what idea is that!? Put yourself in harm's way!? Atem started to yell.
"Exactly, Atem!" Yugi exclaimed out loud.
"WHAT!?"
"Don't you get it Atem? All I need to do is do something that might cause me serious harm! If I do that, Yami will sense it, and whether he likes it or not, he'll come for me!"
Are you out of your God damned mind!?
The boy of light made it out of the forest, and began to run with his light magic surrounding his feet, making him even faster. "Look Atem! I have no one! My mom's dead, my dad's dead, my grandparents are both dead, my friends are gone! I have no cousins, no siblings, no aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, nothing! Everyone is freaking gone! This city is a ghost town, everyone's abandoned this place! I'm not losing Yami too! If he wants to get you back, he'll have to do it with me damn it! We're getting you back together!" Yugi ran through the streets and saw a few remaining SWAT soldiers around. "So you know what!? Yeah! I am out of mind, cause as of now, I don't have much sanity left after what's happened!"
... Atem said nothing in return.
"If that stupid idiot thinks he can leave me now, after I've practically become a emotional wreck, then he's got another thing coming!"
His island wasn't too far away now.
As for Yami, he was currently gliding on water. And by water, he was gliding across an ocean. Apparently, during one of Yami's talks with Seto, he mentioned Pegasus having an island not too far away from the edge of Domino. He was only a few meters away now, and that's where Pegasus was hiding out. Or at least that's what he thought, but he was almost positive. If that man wasn't in Domino, he had to have been on his own island, a place to hide out. A bit obvious, but only if you knew Pegasus personally.
While gliding though, slightly hovering with his shadow aura of course, he realized that, he felt an immense power emanating from the island. Something, or someone, was with Pegasus. It felt like a shadow-walker, but something more ungodly. It felt like Atem's power, just not as strong, or evil. This power seemed much more negative. Not only that, but he felt Venom nearby as well. That could only mean one thing, but Yami wasn't too sure, and frankly, he didn't want to believe it.
Time would tell. Besides, Yami was only a few feet from the coast now.
With a grunt, he dropped down and landed on the sand, and looked up. There was a large mansion in the middle of the island. It wouldn't take long to fly there. Once he dropped down though, that power felt even stronger. He smelled human, meaning Pegasus was indeed here. The shadow-walker jumped up and flew towards the mansion, his black aura fogging behind him.
Soon he would get those keys, no matter what the cost. He would bring Atem back once and for all.
He would come, right? He would definitely come. Despite what he was feeling, he'd care too much for Yugi to let him die. That's what Yugi was thinking as he ran through the city. Any soldier he saw, was numbed and plummeted to the ground. He had no issues getting to where he needed to be. Over and over,, Atem constantly kept saying Please stop this! or Don't do that! There has to be another way!. And a part of Yugi was flattered that the former king cared so much about him. However, he ignored his warnings, and even severed their mind link. He knew what he was doing, and he knew it would work. It had to work.
The plan was full proof! All he had to do was find a nice tall large building, climb up to the very top where the roof of it is, and proceed to jump off while awaiting Yami to catch him. Then, he could confront him and convince him to be with him again!
...
...Alright, so maybe Yugi was starting to think like an obsessive boyfriend. And yeah, the plan sounded reckless, dumb and crazy. But he had to try. Now that everyone in his life either died or went away, Yugi refused to let Yami go. He couldn't let Yami go, not now and not ever. He didn't want to be alone, he couldn't handle that. He wasn't strong like Atem and Yami, who awaited thousands of years before they had someone to talk to. He just couldn't bare it. Atem was absolutely right, he was gonna go crazy if Yami wouldn't come back to him. And as desperate and sad this seems, Yugi truly didn't care. He was angry, he was sad, he was everything in between. And as said before, his sanity was decreasing, meaning he truly had nothing to lose.
The boy almost felt like Juliet. Killing himself for another man, ridiculous. All for the sake of love. Yami basically ended their relationship when he walked out on him like that. And Yugi once again refused, to be a victim of Yami's rejections. No offense to Atem of course...And as always, Atem was right. It was way too deep in their relationship to just cut things off now.
What a selfish jerk, Yugi though. How dare he run out because he felt as if he was making Yugi's life hell?
...Alright, so maybe he did. So what? Yugi didn't care about that, and that's why Yami was selfish! He was only focusing on how he felt about Yugi and not confronting the boy himself! He never talks about how he feels when he needs to most! And that pissed him off even more. Even after everything Yami has confessed to Yugi, the boy wasn't dumb. He knew Yami was still hiding something from him, another thing that angered him.
Finally finding a nice sized building, Yugi immediately began knocking down the door with just one punch. He impressed himself again, nice. He ran inside and looked around. An abandoned business building. There had to be an elevator somewhere...
A drop kick to the window was all that was needed to crash in and make an entrance.
The dark one landed on his feet like a feline, and turned his attention to the ones in front of him. His eyes slightly widened.
Unfortunately, he had been right.
"Poison? Is that you?" A familiar gruff voice said.
The true Akefia.
Caramel skin that was almost as nice as Atem's, grey empty eyes, blinding white untamed hair, a large scar decorated on his eye, and those ancient Egyptian red robes.
Bastard hasn't changed a bit. Nor gotten weaker.
Yami said nothing as he examined his worst enemy's companions. The man with long white hair sat behind a dark wooden desk, his hands folded underneath his chin, resting on his elbows. To Pegasus' right was Akefia, while to the left was Venom.
But wait...someone's missing. Where's Toxin?
"Very nice to see you join us, Yami. Though, you didn't have to commit vandalism just to get here." Pegasus commented.
"I don't give a damn." Was Yami's retort. "Where's Toxin?"
To this question, Venom tilted his head with a disturbing smile. "Ahh him...Well, because he was so weak and useless in our little...fall out,"
Yami rolled his eyes.
"I used him and his pathetic light user companion as keys for Akefia's arrival from Limbo."
The dark one narrowed his eyes at the insane one. "You mean as sacrifices."
"Precisely!" The sandy haired blonde male smiled with glee, making Yami sick to his stomach. Not even Toxin and that boy deserved to die as sacrifices from these assholes. Traitor, was an understatement for this crazy fuck.
Through Yami's mind right now, he wanted to kill Venom. All the crap that the asshole's has done to not only himself, but Yugi and Atem, pissed him off. In all honesty, Akefia didn't even need Marik. He much much strong enough on his own, so why did they keep this asshole around for? They got what they wanted, and here Akefia was in the flesh. Yami was surprised Akefia didn't kill him, he was quick to do something like that. Obviously he didn't care much for his own creation's well-being, so why keep this bastard around?
But Yami swore...
If that asshole taunted him about anything in any way, he would kill him on the spot despite consequences.
"Poison," Venom began. Here it was. Another taunt. What would it be about, Yami wondered. About Yugi? About himself turning into that shadow beast? Akefia killing Atem? Perhaps maybe Yami being captured and taken to that quarantine zone, and almost being anal raped by those doctors. Maybe the fact that the bastard killed Yugi's grandpa? Or that they had all the keys and that Yami would never see Atem again. Or maybe the fact that Yami was literally about to lose it right now. He just about had it with the fucker, and he wanted to slaughter him, crushing him into nothing and annihilating him into nothing. He's heard them all, there was almost nothing he could throw at him now. Yami already face the hard truths, there was nothing he could talk shit about, not anymore.
Venom began to open his mouth once more but before he could say anything, whether it be a taunt or a simple statement, Yami shadow stepped towards him. Ending up right in his face, he swung his hand towards Venom's neck and-
RIP
-went his head.
Right now, Yami was gripping the head of one of his worse enemies, who just died by decapitation.
He dropped it onto the floor and it slowly rolled like a marble. He looked up at his two other enemies who watched their comrade die with vengeful eyes. Akefia only kept his twisted smirk, staring at not his dead companion, but Yami. Pegasus, looked shocked, but quickly regained his composure by clearing his throat and turning his eyes towards Yami as well. The dark one gave them both an empty glare.
Akefia tilted his head a little and made a curious expression. "Now, what business did you have here Poison? I think that was what Marik was going to say."
Yami just kept staring at the man before him, his face only getting angrier and angrier by each minute. And yet, it looked as if Yami was trying to conceal it, not wanting to turn into the shadow beast like before. He felt the intense aura of Akefia's power, so even if he was some-what of a math for him now, he would still lose that fight. He tried his best to calm himself down. Yami looked at the head below on the floor and glanced at his leg. Wouldn't want to dirty Pegasus' office with severed heads lying around, right? So he slowly pulled back his leg, his combat boot lightly shining from its metallic pieces, and gave a good hard kick towards the head. The kick was so hard, a football athlete would have been jealous at the force and speed the head gave. It smashed through the office window right above Akefia's head, shooting away to far unknown, forgotten. The dark one turned his gaze back at Akefia and sighed through his nose.
"I want Atem's keys returned to their rightful owner."
Akefia's smirk only widened. He gave a small nod of his head, beginning to pace around Pegasus' desk like a lion about to pounce on his prey. He began humming, as if thinking really hard about what he should do. Yami noticed how Akefia wasn't even talking with Pegasus about any decision he was about to make. Like the human didn't have a say.
"Alright...Sure. Here." The white haired thief held out his palm, and dark aura began to surround it. Magically, three golden items appeared int he dark cloudy energy. The pendant, the eye, and the final key, the Millennium Scales. Yami's eyes slightly dilated at the sight of the last key. Carelessly, the thief tossed the three keys to the shadow-walker. Yami gracefully caught them in his hands, using his arm to support them. "We don't necessarily need them anymore."
Akefia was right. They didn't need them anymore. If he was willing to let them go that easily, is was because they were stalling Yami from gathering the keys so they could revive Akefia first. Yami took one glance at the golden treasures.
"Where did you find the last one?"
Akefia shifted his shoulders a bit. "I don't know how, but Pegasus managed to get his hands on it." He turned his back towards Yami giving a look at the man with the silver hair who also seemed to stare back. Yami didn't know what their deal was but all that mattered now was that he had what he was looking for. Now it was time to leave.
The shadow-walker took two steps back towards the first window he broke, the same entrance he used to come in, and took a leap outside. Leaving the two men and one corpse.
He didn't know if he could do it. He was honest with himself, he was having second thoughts.
What if he jumped off incorrectly? What if he hit something on the way down? What if...What if Yami wouldn't come? What if he hit the ground head first and destroyed his skull? What if he landed on his back and messed up his spine, making him die in an inhuman pose? What if he landed, but was still alive, making him suffer intense pain and agony for God knows how long? What if he failed? What if he would kill himself for nothing? What if Yami found Yugi too late, seeing his dead body on the ground? That would crush them both, Atem and Yami. Atem already didn't want Yugi doing this. Maybe he was right...Was this..even worth it?
Was risking his life worth seeing Yami again, even if there was a fifty-fifty chance of him coming to his rescue?
Yugi didn't know that. He was starting not to trust Yami, and not even himself. But this was the only way for him to come back. There was no way to contact him or find him on his own. He covered his tracks well, so Yugi didn't really have an option. It was either this, or he was sure they'd never see each other again.
So...with one step, he went forward. He gulped.
He took another, coming closer. Two steps. He felt himself tremble. His legs were wobbly.
One more step...and one last step to fall. He closed his eyes, swallowing hard the fear in his throat. It built up like puke, itching to be thrown up. His hands were shaking violently. His heart pounded against his chest like a drum used for marching bands. He opened his eyes slowly, looking up at the sky. He prayed to God in these exact words, Please, have Yami come to me and save me. I don't want to die now. Whoever's up there, please. He exhaled, and slowly glanced down to his demise.
...
...Damn, it was a long way down.
Yugi felt tears moisten his eyes. He was going to break down here. He couldn't do it. It was too much. It was too much to lose! It was scary...
Death was scary.
Death took everything away from him. Jii-chan, his parents, Atem, Mokuba...It was taking everyone...He just couldn't do it.
As he tried to pulls his leg away from the edge, trying to back away, he felt himself lose his balance. His legs hadn't stop shaking, making him lose is footing and step forward.
He stepped towards his demise.
All he felt next was a huge gust of wind blowing in his face. He was standing, and his body was swinging around violently. The force of the wind was pretty intense. He realized...He accidentally fell off. He was falling. Falling. It may be a way down, but Yugi knew it wouldn't take long for him to hit the ground and have his face smashed into nothing. His face would be disfigured, he would die from either his heart bursting, or bleeding out. He was scared. He was going to die. His heart was racing faster. He literally felt it jumping against his chest. He actually felt it! Like it wanted to leave the body that was surely going to die. His tears were flying in the air, almost like rain beginning to pour down.
This was it.
And Yami wasn't coming this time.
The shadow-walker wondered where he should do this. Maybe the street...But he'd have to kill any authorities lurking around. He needed to do the ritual in a big space. He wasn't particularly sure. Right now, Yami was walking from the edge of town. He just flew from the island that wasn't too far from Tokyo. He had all he needed, now all he needs to do now is find a perfect spot to summon Atem. Soon he'd see his beloved again.
Yami!
The dark one blinked. That...He shook his head. It was nothing. He continued walking, looking around for any soldiers.
Yami listen to me! Listen damn you!
He stopped his movements completely. That voice was far too familiar, and it was deep like his own. It held power and dominance. Someone he knew all too well.
"Atem...?"
Thank Ra...Yami, you need to listen to me. Yugi is in danger.
He sounded...actually scared. He never heard Atem's voice shake like that. But how in the world did he contact Yami? He cut off his mind link, meaning Yugi and Atem couldn't talk to him.
My keys, the millennium items...I can feel them give me power. I was able to make a mind link myself. But regardless of that, Yugi is in danger. You need to get to him, and fast.
"Yugi..." That boy...He couldn't face him again. Not after everything that's happened. He would only be a danger to him again-
Who the hell cares about that Yami!? Everyone is a danger to anyone! Me, you, Toxin, Venom, Atrocious, everyone! Don't you see Yami?! You really are putting him in danger this time! Because of you, he is going to die!
Yami's throat swelled up. He blinked several times, trying to register what Atem was saying.
You cannot protect anyone from everything Yami! That's impossible! Yes, because of him meeting you, a lot of things horrible has happened. But life goes on! No one could change time or the events that have happened! Quit wallowing in your own guilt and save him, damn it!
...
Being scolded like that...brought so many pleasant memories.
"Where is he?"
He was on a high building, in the center of town. Run as fast as possible. He fell off!
"What!?"
Almost automatically, Yami jumped up in the air and blasted off into the air like a jet. Black aura shot from his body like smoke and ash. He was flying at the highest speed possible. He could not let Yugi die, not now! He meant too much, he cared for him too much to just let him die from something as stupid as this! He couldn't kill himself...He can't and he wont!
Almost to the center of town.
He heard some yelling of commands, some soldiers saw him. They were beginning to shoot. Of course, Yami dodged them by swishing from side to side. The bullets missed him completely. Nothing could get to him now. The only thing on his mind was Yugi. Yugi was in danger. He needed to fix everything. Their relationship, Atem's relationship, this undying depression and guilt of his...He needed to hold Yugi, kiss him, tell him how much he missed and loved him. How he was such a fucking idiot for running out on him for something so selfish and stupid.
And tell how dumb Yugi was for doing something so fucking insane!
He saw black. The concrete! He was about to land on the street. His skull was going to crack, split open, brains and blood spilling all over the place. He was going to die. He was going to join Jii-chan and the others.
...He cracked a smile...
..Until he hard a very loud scream.
"YUGI!"
It was almost like the time Yugi fist fought that shadow-walker in front of his friends. Everything went in slow motion.
Yugi turned his head towards the source of the scream. It was horrified, loud and held so much worry. There were soldiers near the building, only a few feet away. They were beginning to crowd against each other. Something, or someone was coming, and they were a danger.
Spiky hair like his own, red eyes, a handsome face, and that goth-like attire.
Yami.
He felt his eyes spill even more tears.
"Yugi!" He screamed again. Yami was running fast on the ground. He shoved his hands into the soldiers, pushing them away so hard, they collided with buildings from the sides of the road, dying on impact. He punched and swung at everything and everyone, not letting anything get in his way.
Yugi glanced down once more, and saw the texture of the ground. Yami was here, but he wasn't going to make it in time. He was going to feel the road in one second.
Yami threw himself to the ground, his arms raising to the air as if embracing God.
And with a loud 'Oof!" the user of light landed in his embrace, making them both fall down to the ground hard.
Yami enclosed his arms around the little one tightly as they rolled and bounced off of the ground. He protected his head and as much of his body as he could. He tangled his limbs around him like gum, guarding parts of his body from the rough texture of the concrete. He held him close, and closed his eyes.
They rolled to a stop after a few seconds of hard landing, but it didn't matter. He was still holding Yugi.
He didn't want to let go.
He had his Yugi back.
END 21
Bad news. Her Little Boy be won't be continued. I don't have much love for the story anymore. I had plans for it, I even had chapters ready to write, but my passion for it has died. I'll still keep the story up, but it shall remain discontinued. I'm sorry guys, and once again, stay tuned for the next chapter. This story truly is coming to an end very soon.
