30-Finale
Suddenly, he felt his throat drying up. Almost like he couldn't breath, and it was starting to hurt. He tried crying out again, but no voice came out. No, no this wasn't right...What happened to his voice? Why couldn't he speak anymore? He glanced at Yami and Atem, who were bickering about what to do. They were obviously worried about him. He coughed once, and that grabbed their attention. They looked down at Yugi with concerned expressions.
"Yugi," Yami tried to talk to him first. "Are you okay? Have you calmed down?"
"..." No answer back. Yugi could only continue gaping while also trying to breath. He was starting to pant heavily. This made Yami turn to Atem, knowing he would have to know why this was happening.
"G-Guys...What the hell is happening to me!?" A new deep voice spoke in their minds. That was Yugi, but his voice was way deeper. "I-I can't breath and I can't talk!" He was using the mind-link. His throat was literally starting to burn.
Atem began putting the pieces together as to why this was happening, and why Yugi transformed into this physical form in the first place. But, he would have to think of a way to stop this penalty before he could figure out. Yugi was in pain right now.
Damn it damn it, think think...
He blinked once. He could use that!
"Yami." Atem put his hands on Yami's shoulders, a serious expression on his face. "Watch Yugi, and make sure he stays awake. Do not rile him up even more or his darkness will get worse. Try to talk to him, anything. I will be back." With that, he rushed off out of the room, leaving Yami bewildered.
"W-What the..?!" Too late to yell questions now, the man was gone. All he heard was the echoing disappearing footsteps. He mentally cursed Atem for leaving them alone like this. They were completely vulnerable! Yami couldn't fight with Yugi here if Akefia were to come back, he could get hurt if they were attacked. Not to mention he himself might get hurt from the newly grown man trying to get free. He was still kicking, trying to badly to get out of his hold. "Yugi, please!" Yami cried as the younger started elbowing the dark one. He coughed, biting his lip from yelling in pain. He got him right in the ribs. "Stop it! It's done! It is over! He's fucking dead!" Getting a good hold on Yugi's face and jaw while holding his arm with one of his own to keep him from elbowing him again, he forcefully turned his head to the side where Venom's body laid. "Look!" His body was starting to fade to black ash.
To this, Yugi's eyes started to get wider and wider by each second. He couldn't look away.
Marik's head, that was shoved into his own chest, was grotesque to look at. His eyes were half lidded, dead like a fish. His hair didn't have that pretty light blonde color anymore. Instead, more olive looking and dirty. His skin was rotting quickly, turning more gray instead of a caramel tan color. Black blood was splattered on his face, dripping down. Most of his body was turned into black mush from Yugi constantly punching it. It all looked like a spoiled brand of cat food.
This was the work of Yugi. He did that. This horrifying mess? That was him. He did this.
To this, Yugi only cried more, but quieting down. He whimpered and tried looking away, clenching his eyes shut. Yami released his hold as he felt the other calm down. The dark one tried as best as he could to try and understand as to why this was all happening. Not only was he in a lot of pain, but he was emotionally screwed up. He was puzzled, but his expression showed sadness. He knelt down to Yugi's side and sighed.
"Yugi, please tell me what is going on with you."
"I-I don't know what's happening...What's happening to me? Why did I do that? I murdered someone!" He looked like he was wailing, but no sound came out. Like he was a mute. Like Yami, he realized what a monster he became in just a minute ago. How awful and psychotic he acted all in the sake of revenge. Atem was right, it wasn't worth it. It felt good when he killed him, but afterwards, he felt like crap. It wasn't worth that. It wasn't worth any of this. Yugi covered his face with his now black-bloodied hands, gray tears mixing and turning into a charcoal looking color.
Quick footsteps interrupted Yami's thoughts. He turned around to see Atem running in while dragging Pegasus, tied up in chains. Odd, why were they glowing brightly? Did they have light magic in it? The elder man threw the human down onto the floor carelessly, grabbing the attention of their newly grown lover. He sniffled as he watched Atem walk towards Yami.
"I think I know what's wrong with him." He said quietly.
"Well what the hell is it, and how are we going to fix it?" Yami impatiently asked. Atem sighed heavily. His face was sorrowful too. "Using this ability is often used when someone is desperate to use extreme force to achieve whatever their goal is. To do that, you need to forcefully manipulate your power to change into a stronger form, like you've been doing to fight Akefia."
"Get to the fucking point, he's hurting!"
"I'm getting to that." Atem sharply retorted. "This is where it gets confusing. Yugi was some-what balanced with his darkness, meaning something or someone," The male gave a glare to the dead corpse on the floor. "Forced a large amount of darkness inside of his body, driving most of his light out. Then, his fueled anger only made it worse, and transformed himself into this form. Making himself older, an age and time where he would be able to defeat Marik without effort. Yugi speaks no evil. And because he used his powers too much, practically abusing them just for revenge, he got a penalty. And the penalty, is losing his voice." As he finished explaining, Atem untied Pegasus from the chains, hissing as he held them. "To stop the penalty and reverse this, we have to give his light back. Hold him up."
Yami quickly did as he was told and held Yugi up to his feet, whom was still a bit shaken up. The dark one kept him still by holding his hands tightly. He looked terrified. His expression screamed, "What the hell are you two gonna do to me?"
"Yugi, calm down."
"Actually, this might hurt him more." Atem quickly warned as he got closer with the chains.
"What!?" Yami started to protest, and Yugi started to get antsy. It was getting difficult to hold him still now. Yugi tried to pull, but Yami wasn't having that. Shadows began slithering through the floor to Yugi's feet, swirling around his ankles and forcing him to keep still. Atem then threw one end of the chains around Yugi from behind, and began to bind him down. The other man lost balance and fell on his butt with the chains tightening around. "Atem," He began. "What the hell are those?" Yugi started to cry out in pain, or at least it looked that way. Once again, there was no sound. But he did look like he was suffering. A loud HISS was heard from them, steam coming from his skin. Those things were burning him!
"They are light chains Pegasus got from Akefia. They were supposed to neutralize me, but obviously that plan failed. In contact with darkness, it tightens up. It does indeed hurt, but for Yugi it could restore him back to the way he was."
"Get these damn things off of me!" He screamed. "MAKE IT STOP!"
"Atem, he's in too much pain! We have to take them off!" Yami yelled. Atem only shook his head.
He sat down to Yugi's level and cupped his face. The younger male looked confused, his expression still showing intense despair. Atem's fingers were burning as well from the aura that was spreading throughout Yugi's body. Now to finally fix this...
He slightly opened his mouth, forcing Yugi to do the same, and kissed him deeply.
Yugi started to black out again.
A giant heart...
Made out of black rock and charcoal. Watching attentively, one could see nothing else in this world was alive except for the heart. It was an endless dark space, that had only two things that lived. Yugi, and his heart.
However, as he felt Atem's warm lips, he felt almost at ease. He didn't feel anymore burning pain, he only felt euphoria. It felt healing, soothing. Slowly, the dark space started to fade into white. The giant heart started to beat, the rough surface was deteriorating. Black rock fell to the floor, but only from the right side. Diamonds and pearls, alexandrites and platinum appeared on the left side. And the world stopped turning white midway. Right in the center.
The entire world was in two halves. The left side, darkness. Rocks and charcoal. Right side, light. Diamonds and beautiful pure gems.
He wasn't light nor was he darkness. He was a mixture of both...
Twilight.
Slowly, he opened his amethyst eyes. His vision was messed up again, great...He heard two familiar voices.
"Is...Is this permanent?"
"...It is."
The plan, was to tie Yugi up in those chains to cancel out all of the negativity in his body and make him pure again. However, things didn't work out that way. Only half-way. His body still looked like he went through an extreme growth spurt. Yugi calmed down, that was a good thing. And he didn't feel as evil anymore. He was breathing normally, but he looked exhausted. His eyes were shining once again, but still lowered. Not wide like they used to. As the two men were talking things over with each other, Yugi mentally sighed.
"Guys?" He said aloud. His new deep voice got their attention. Well, his throat didn't hurt anymore and he could talk again. He didn't feel the burning anymore either. He just laid there on the floor on his back, tired.
"Are you okay?" Atem asked first, looking down at him. Yugi nodded slowly.
"I.." His voice cracked a little. He looked sad again. "I'm sorry."
The other two men exchanged looks, then continued looking down at Yugi. "Yugi," Yami asked. "Can you tell us what happened? Why did you snap like that?" His voice was soft and gentle. Something Yugi loved to hear.
"I don't know what got into me. I-I just lost control, I thought of grandpa...Then him, and I got so angry."
"Rage does that to a person. You are not to blame for this, Yugi." Atem sat down next to him and tried to console him. Yami did the same.
"I killed another being, Atem." He sniffled. "I know you two are used to slaughtering people, but I'm not." He shivered.
"You did the world a favor. You killed off a crazy psychopath." Yami protested. "And anyway, if he encountered either of us, his fate would have been sealed anyway. He would have died either way today. So please," The dark one caressed the younger's face, giving him a peck on the lips. "Stop beating yourself up about it. What happened, happened. And even though you are not proud of it, you still did a good thing in the end." Yami helped Yugi sit up, who thanked him with a silent nod. "Are you really okay now?" He asked.
Yugi nodded once more. "Yes." He looked less sad now.
"You're probably weak." Atem said. "We shall take only a few minutes to rest. After that, we have to follow Akefia." His expression softened when he saw Yugi's face. Now that he had some light back, his face almost looked like it went back to its adorable features. "Sorry, Yugi."
To this, the other male only made a small smile. "Its fine." Looking around, he saw the chains were tied around Pegasus once more. However, they did not have their light power anymore. Perhaps it was used up on Yugi, and lost their aura. He then began looking at himself. His hands and feet were still larger than they should be. His body still looked like he swapped with Yami's, and his voice was still super deep. Why? "Why is my body still this way?"
The eldest sighed. "The light was not strong enough to manipulate your physical appearance back to its original form. This is permanent unfortunately.."
The dark one didn't look at them. He looked angry. Yugi started to get greatly concerned. "H-How long-How many years did I lose? How old am I now?"
Yami decided to answer this one. "You were sixteen, yes?" Yugi nodded in reply. "You lost four years. You are twenty years old."
His eyes went wide, gaping slightly. "T-Twenty?! I'm not even supposed to be in school anymore!" Oh god. What if he literally lost those four years? "Does that mean my life span was shortened too?"
Atem shook his head. "No no, only physically. Calm down." He commanded. Yugi did as he was told, taking a deep breath. This was a lot to take in...
So he snapped and transformed into some shadow monster, ultimately killing another person and terrified himself. He finds out that after turning into a monster both emotionally and mentally, he's permanently turned into an adult version of himself forever. Not to mention he can no longer age, so he'll truly look this way for the rest of his life. Could he complain? No, not really. First of all, he was alive. He thought that after confronting Marik, he was done for good. Not only that, but his lovers were still here by his side safe and sound, and this fight was almost over. He turned himself stronger, and could really be of use when they were to take Akefia down. In his highschool years, he always wished he could look not so much like a twelve-year old and more like his age. Now, that wish came true. He didn't like the fact that he grew from such a horrid situation, but he liked the results. He was satisfied with this, and as soon as he got the rest of his energy back, he'd be confident enough to fight.
He smiled to himself.
"Do you both like me this way?"
The two men slightly blushed at the question. They both stuttered. "E-Err..."
Yami made a smirk. "Heh, well, you certainly look sexier."
"I somewhat concur. You're sexy either way to us. But," Atem smiled at them both. "I think we would not mind you keeping this form."
Yugi made a light chuckle, that made the two take a double take. That laughter was so different then what they were used to. No longer adorable light giggles from the old Yugi, but sexy almost baritone hardy laughs. That would take some time to get used to, they had to admit.
"So, I'm half now?" Yugi looked up at the two. Well, not much. He was tall as them now. Atem nodded, starting to frown. Yami was doing the same for some reason after he asked this.
"Indeed. You're a twilight-user. Your darkness can no longer be extinguished because your body is now equally balanced." He narrowed his eyes at the floor. He seemed angry about something too. Were they both angry at the fact that Yugi no longer had his humanity? "You're practically one of us now. You are ageless, having a slab of immortality. You cannot die of natural causes, like humans. Your humanity is completely gone. Once you slaughtered Marik," Yugi winced at the word he used. "You turned into a creature you cannot come back from-"
...And he was suddenly drop kicked by Yami.
"AH!" He fell hard against the floor, holding his shoulder in pain. "What the hell, Yami!?" He shouted. He then gulped. Yami's expression was much more furious than his. Livid, apoplectic, any synonym along those lines wasn't good enough to express how pissed he truly was.
"He is not a fucking monster!" He yelled back. "He's not like us at all! He's more human than you and I could hope of being. He still has his virtues. Part of him is still pure! All he is, is a hybrid. A human and an unnatural being, that's all!"
To this, Atem groaned, annoyed by Yami's banter He seriously had to do this now of all times? He glowered back at Yami as Yugi was thinking to himself. He wasn't a monster, but he sure wasn't human either. He is no longer, and can no longer be normal. He sighed to himself, smiling a little. He felt a bit flattered that Yami felt so strongly about him. Atem did too. It was nice to be cared for so immensely. He carefully walked over and helped Atem up, getting an angry 'thank you' in return. Yugi turned to Yami, who was still giving Atem a dirty look. He made a frown and punched his arm.
"FUCK!" Was his reply. A painful scream. To this, Yugi and Atem were kinda taken back by the reaction.
"I-I didn't hit you that hard-"
"YES, you did!"
"Well maybe you shouldn't have drop kicked Atem like that, you damn jerk!"
Yami just continued to hiss, holding his arm. Yugi sighed. It was like a little sibling. While keeping his hold on Atem, Yugi turned to the other male. "Are you okay? You're not in pain right?" The other only chuckled.
"Not anymore, no. You were healing me the entire time by just touching me."
"O-Oh." Yugi blinked.
Getting serious, Atem looked at them both. Yami's arm regenerated from Yugi's punch, and he had their attention. "The only one left is Akefia."
Yami gave a good crack of his knuckles. Flexing his fingers. "I almost had him last time. If I had more control back there-" Atem cut him off.
"Hell no. You are not fighting him again." Yami sucked his teeth. "Oh do not be petty, you know he almost killed you!"
"And I almost killed him!"
"Just barely!"
"Shut the fuck up!"
Yugi pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "Stop fighting, damn it!" He shouted. "That's all you two ever do! There's a freaking guy out there, who's freaking crazy and is about to try and destroy my freaking home! And you two think its the best time of the day to freaking argue!? On who should fight him? We're wasting time!" He tried very hard not to drop the f-bomb.
After a few minutes, Yugi exhaled heavily. Yami and Atem continued to stare attentively.
"Instead of arguing like morons, we should destroy him together." ...Destroy? God, since when did he talk like that? Atem sighed.
"You are right. Our apologies..." The trio all looked at the only remaining human in the room, Pegasus. "And what do we do with this one?"
Yugi frowned at the sight of the man. "No doubt that where ever everyone was evacuated to, the government is waiting for his return. That's why I told you not to kill him. If he's dead, we'll have the entire Japanese army on us. I do not, and probably never will know why, but he's important to our president. We could probably keep him here, but I would put up a force-field around the room just in case he wakes up and tries to get free."
Yami bent down, and drew a line on the floor all the way across the room from one end to the other. Separating Pegasus from the doors. Once he did this, a field of darkness blocked the two like a large wall. "He's only human. He will not be able to breach it."
"Yugi, are you able to fly?" Atem asked. Yugi nodded in return.
"Yeah. I'm ready." The new twilight-user hopped out of the huge broken window, and ascended upwards into the sky. The other two men quickly joined him.
Stepping down onto the shingles of the roof, the trio saw there was a lot of space. Though, it wasn't sturdy due to all the damage they've done from the inside of the house. They also noticed a large mist of black like fog. It felt weakening and dreadful, Akefia's aura. They only stopped for a second, and they were able to push past it once more. It was a bit hard to see, but they were all able to see a single person in the middle of all the fog. They didn't waste time to get closer, of course cautiously.
His hands were raised up in the air, and the fog was swarming around his arms. It was forming into a ball, getting larger and larger. He was going to cast it onto the city and do God knows what. Probably destroy the rest of Domino. With a point of his two fingers, Atem shot at it with an ounce of his own magic. It caught Akefia off guard and made the fog's power in disarray. A small curse was heard as the white-haired man turned around to face the three. Of course, and maybe it was habit, he glared at Atem first. Then the other two.
"All three of you?" His gaze pointed to Yugi. "I see you've changed." He stepped closer. "You killed Venom, I'm sure. I don't feel his life force anymore. And from what I saw in the hallways, Pegasus was nullified." He paused, just staring. This made the three get ready, preparing themselves for anything he had to throw at them. At this, Akefia's frown curled. "Well then..." He started to smile evilly. "Bring it."
He didn't need to tell them twice.
Atem acted first, disappearing in gold dust and teleporting right in front of Akefia. He swung his leg, kicking him dead in the face and knocking him back. Yami appeared behind him, shoving his fist right in his back. More specifically, right in the spine. He cried out, falling down. Where the hell were they coming from? They were too fast for him. However, instead of feeling the hard surface of the shingles of the roof, he fell on something soft. Warming and comforting. What the hell was that? He looked up to see Yugi, holding him in his arms. He caught him. He smiled softly, with such an innocent expression.
He then saw that smile turn dark. He raised one arm, pointing two fingers and shoving them down into Akefia's neck. Like a wasp, he shoved them in shoulders and then his stomach. As if stinging him in all those places on instinct. His eyes shrunk. He immediately lost feeling in those three places, and fell limp. Yugi gently pushed him upwards, letting him fall forward to the ground onto his face.
Atem prepared the final attack, holding one hand up with his palm open. A bright yellow light appeared in the center. He was getting ready to blast Akefia into Oblivion.
Oblivion was like Limbo, only three times worse. It was an isolated place in the center of the hell. It was the torture of solitary confinement. With absolutely no means of survival. In Oblivion, all super natural abilities are taken away. You are no longer ageless, you would need food and water, you could get sick, and you could die of any natural cause like a human could. It is a fate worse than death, because are not allowed to die and pass on. But to relive the pain over, and over and over again until some Angel from up above were to take you away from the punishment. Using light magic was the only way to escape, which was bad for dark-users. Marik was able to escape by opening a portal with his pure half. While he was not necessarily a twilight-user, his DID disorder allowed him to have an entire half that had only pure powers that could be used for evil doings. However, for Akefia, this would be his worst nightmare. And that's exactly where Atem was going to put him. Immutably, asleep.
All he needed to do was throw it and-
"Hahahaha..." A weak laugh was heard from the injured man. "Y-You fools..." He spat out blood. "Underestimating me."
Suddenly, the black fog swarmed towards Akefia like bees. They formed larger and larger, levitating him upwards off the ground and back on his feet. The swarm formed larger and larger. It was forming into a large creature, more than maybe ten feet tall. Two pairs of red glowing eyes appeared from it. Arms grew from the sides, claw-like fingers stretched out. The white-haired man sneered. Horns from head and jaws, sharper than the teeth of a hammerhead,
This was Akefia's shadow-beast. And its name, was ZORC. An abomination who's only purpose was to destroy.
Atem blinked as he gazed upon the beast. "Run." Was all he said.
Yugi and Yami glanced at each other, knowing Atem would handle this. They were just worried about what might happen. They reluctantly stepped backwards and turned. Running and jumping off of the roof. To this, a faint memory went by Yugi's head. Jumping off of a building still didn't sit right with him after last time. They floated in the air and quickly backed away from the mansion.
The tan male smirked. Two could play at that game.
He closed his eyes. Inhale, exhale.
The youngest of the fight watched as the sky turned dark gray. Like it was going to pour down raining. The sun was almost completely gone.
Atem's third eye appeared, glowing as brightly as can be. Gold dust surrounded him, but then quickly faded to black-looking sand. He opened his eyes, revealing cat pupils with a familiar eerie yellow shade. The sand formed bigger and bigger until its form too was bigger than ten feet. It took a similar form like Akefia's, only with yellow glowing eyes and less horns. Its name was, BIOCIDE. A monster who's sole purple was to get rid of any vermin its master saw fit to destroy.
Yugi and Yami watched in amazement. Yugi for one, was more awed. So everyone truly had a shadow-beast of their own inside, just in different shapes and forms. Obviously Atem's seemed to have surpassed theirs. Now it was just Akefia and him. Mono on mono.
Atem formed a khopesh out of shadows in his hand. Akefia, formed a kilij, or rather, a saber in his. Both looked deadly. Both had dangerously curved sharp blades, both were unique. It all depended on their swordman, if they would draw blood.
It seemed as if darkness was surrounding the entire city now.
This fight was going to be intense. Death-defying, and unbelievable. Two of the most powerful beings on this earth, were about to clash, and change the future of their lives. Yami's eyes widened as he realized what were to happen if they did clash. They both were at full power and not holding anything back. If two extremely powerful forces were to clash together, only devastation would be the result. The final prediction of Yugi's mental images. Two huge shadow beasts...He was right.
"The entire city is going to be destroyed." Yami whispered.
"W-What!?" Yugi looked at him with a panicked expression.
"Those dumb asses are way too powerful. If they clash, the back lash of the fight would explode darkness everywhere. Everything would be destroyed, and they might not even survive themselves! That damn Atem impulsively did this!"
And its not like they could get in the middle of the fight and tell them to stop. They could die if they intervened in any of that. They both watched as the two tan males pounced into the air, ready to swings their swords at each other. Their shadow beasts about to swing their fists into each other. "What do we do!?" Yugi yelled. If they didn't do something quick, everyone was going to die! Yami gritted his teeth, clenching his fists. He had something in mind, but God knows it was way too damn risky. But did they even have a choice?
"There is something you could do!" He pointed towards Akefia. "Shoot twilight magic at Atrocious."
The younger's jaw almost dropped. "N-No! That's crazy-"
"Right in his chest. Just like you did me and Atem! From behind! You would screw up his attack and make Atem's attack overpower his and go right through it." Yami kept going. "Its fucking crazy, but it could work! Akefia would be too distracted, and we would be giving Atem an advantage!"
Yugi gulped in fear. That, was indeed a crazy ass plan. What if they both perished from the colossal energies of their powers? What if he screwed up and missed? What if they were too late and they clashed, wiping everything out? Why the hell did this all have to be pinned on him? Damn it...He did tell himself that he would be of use in this fight. And if that meant he would have to put himself in extreme harm's way once more, then so be it. He had nothing to lose, and nothing to regret.
"We need to act now. I will get you as close as I can, then throw you to Akefia, but we have to time it exactly right." Yami scooped Yugi into his arms and bolted towards the two. They were closing in towards each other, Yami had to go much faster!
In Yugi's eyes, everything went in slow-motion again. Yami pushed past his limits and flew behind Akefia's position on the roof. They were a few feet away. A good hard throw, and with good aim, Yugi would be able to do it. But they had to have good timing. They had too. It was hard to stay in the air on this side of the building for too long. The darkness was getting to them both, making Yami slightly shake while holding Yugi.
"Yami..." Yugi used mind-link. "What if I miss?"
"..." He hesitated. "If you are too late, the twilight will detonate both their blasts after they've already clashed and will probably kill everyone in the area. Too early, and it will not completely kill Akefia. You have to do it right as they are about to clash, in the last second."
That didn't help Yugi at all. Well, it was a dumb question, he supposed.
"Yugi, I am just as scared as you are. Trust me. No one wants to die. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and Atem, but we cannot, if we don't kill Akefia. And even if we do fail in the end," A sad smile. "We will have died trying. And we would still be together in the afterlife."
Tears threatened to cascade from Yugi's eyes again today. It was hard to be strong when they were so close to dying. He felt Yami tighten his grip on Yugi's body. He flexed his fingers and formed a small ball of twilight magic in his hand. Grey smoke lightly flew into the air. He winced. This small ball took a lot of energy. It was like a mine of sorts. Once it hit the surface of something, it would become humongous and wipe out anything in its way. This would defintely damage Akefia, if he landed the attack right. He sighed, closing his eyes. Why were they doing this? Why did Akefia hate them all so much in the first place? Why did any of this had to happen? Why...
Why did he meet these people? Why did he meet Yami in the first place?
Why...
...Because this was fate, wasn't it?
It was fate that Yami found Yugi. It was fate that they ended up falling for each other and Atem all at once. It was fate that they were together now, enduring the most intense moment of their lives. It was fate that Sugoroku had to die. It was fate that this curse of permanently growing into an adult happened to Yugi. It was fate, that everyone's lives rested in the result of this one attack.
"You ready?" He barely heard Yami say. His eyes were still closed. Yugi was blocking everything out, focusing on nothing but his power. Steadily, he pulled his arm back, he felt the power of his twilight becoming even more powerful. He felt all his worries and stresses going away. This was it, this was life or death.
And Yugi was okay with that.
"Yeah."
Loud simultaneous roars echoed throughout the city from the two shadow beasts.
"Not yet...!"
Two pairs of maroon and wine red eyes glowered at each other as their swords ever-so-gently touched.
"NOW!"
Purple eyes snapped open instantly. Yami held onto Yugi tight, like a football and tossed him as hard as he could towards their worst enemies. As he shot towards Akefia in alarming speed, his purple eyes became bright glowing white. A scary rumble shook the entire landscape. The mansion was on the brink of collapsing and turning into nothing but a huge wreck. Atem knew what he was getting into when he told Yami and Yugi to run. Yes, it was a selfish decision. But he was the only one that could go up against Akefia on equal terms. Yami was getting there, but not as strong. Yugi wasn't ready to go up against someone like Akefia yet, so only he could do this. Plus, he was the only one who had complete control of his shadow beast. He knew that once they clashed, something awful would happen. He acted without thinking.
He saw a white light from the corner of his eyes. He glanced behind Akefia, and saw Yugi flying towards him at amazing speed with a fist full of twilight magic. He was gonna shove that thing right in his back. The white-haired man only kept ignorantly grinning, thinking that this was all going to end in his favor. He never knew that Yugi was right behind him, just as they both were about to give out the final blow.
Yugi was going to help take another life again. That weighed on his mind for a bit, until he realized that he needed no more reason than to have Mairk kill his one and only family. That was where he screwed up, and why Yugi had confidence in what he was doing right now. Akefia had no regard for not even his own species' life, and is pure evil. Like Marik, he'd be doing the world good if he just died off here and now.
Silently, Yugi reached his hand out, and shoved his arm through Akefia's back. He felt the rough texture of bone, and broke through his spine. He felt his hand reach through his chest and his organs. As repulsive as that sounded and felt, Yugi didn't let it phase him. That small ball of magic, quickly flickered, and began to grow within Akefia's torso. The white-haired man's eyes slowly shrunk as he felt the overflowing agonizing pain. He couldn't focus enough to keep his own attack going, and his shadow beast was getting weaker. His power was depleting. On Atem's end, it felt as if his power was getting stronger. He looked behind him, and saw Yami in the air holding two fingers up. He had shot some energy into the attack to make it stronger.
A shrill scream resounded from Akefia.
He watched as his shadow beast became puny as Atem's got larger. His power canceled out, as he was about to be wiped away. He couldn't move out of the way, the twilight magic from Yugi's orb was corrupting his body all over. He was dying. Yugi couldn't move away himself, and had to keep his hand inside of his body, so that he couldn't escape from Atem's blast. And it was coming even closer. It was only a few centimeters away. But frankly, that was fine with him.
The tan male began feeling weak and collapsed just as his blast came in contact with Akefia. Yami quickly dropped down, scooped him up into his arms and flew away from the scene before it could explode.
Once he was a good sum of yards away, his face fell. Yugi was still in there. He could die from that! He thought over and over in his mind.
A pregnant silence filled the entire island, as a tremendous explosion destroyed the mansion, and the island itself.
As the only one conscious, Yami could only watch in horror as a bright white light consumed everything, and his vision.
It was terrifyingly beautiful.
"Argh...!" Both men groaned as they landed on the ground hard. Yami eyes were burning, clenching them tightly. That bright light for some reason hurt his eyes. Atem felt completely weak, and just laid on the grass panting heavily. He didn't feel like getting up, or opening his eyes. The dark one grunted as he got up on his knees, and soon on his feet. He slightly moaned in pain, he must have fucked up his leg when he landed. He slowly opened his crimson red eyes, and immediately saw Atem's body. He limped over to him, feeling a sense of relief when he saw that he was breathing.
"Atem..." He shook the man, trying to make him open his eyes. The tan male did as he wanted, gazing up at the clear blue sky. He started glancing at everything else to see, everything seemed fine. In fact, better. Yami began looking as well.
From afar, they could see the city of Domino. But, all of the buildings were fixed up. Nothing was toppled over, they even saw the streets and concrete were perfectly fixed. Homes were restored, city lights standing up tall once more. Everything seemed back to normal, before any of the fighting started. They both looked at the mansion, to see that it too was also restored. Windows, fixed. Doors, fixed. The roof, all back to normal. Even the sun shined brightly, representing that a lovely day was ahead.
...they were missing someone.
"Yugi?!" They both yelled aloud. Atem got on his feet despite his fatigue, and started searching for their third member who had not returned.
No no...Where was he? Where could he have gone!? He wasn't on the roof, he wasn't inside the house. They couldn't sense him either. This didn't make any sense. Yugi didn't go anywhere away from the island, so he couldn't have gone far! He should still be around the perimeter at the least! Why couldn't they smell him, or feel his life force?
Dear Ra...Did he..
Yami's voice got caught up in his throat. His eyes were watering. To this, Atem looked petrified. He watched as Yami's body shook violently, and he heard discreet sniffles. "You fucking idiot." Yami muttered. He turned to his partner, dark gray tears falling off of his cheeks. "Why did you have to use all that power?! He was in that, you fucking dense bastard!" He was tightly grabbing the hem of Atem's shirt, shaking him. The other man could only watch as he too felt like crying. What could he say? 'I'm sorry?' "What happened to him!?" He screamed. "Tell me!"
"..." Atem said nothing. With sad eyes, he watched Yami break down. Losing his grip and falling to his knees, bringing Atem down with him. He then held his close, embracing him tightly as he started to cry onto his shoulder. The elder male on the other hand, looked more shocked than sad. In disbelief that Yugi was gone. He shouldn't have acted so recklessly, if he hadn't Yugi would still be here. But he couldn't be gone...He couldn't believe that bullshit!
"You guys are seriously idiots."
What the-
"OOF!" Atem was punched to the ground.
"OW!" Yami was kicked into a tree a feet or two away. Caught off guard, the two quickly looked up to see just who the hell hit them.
Yugi...
Their missing third member was standing in front of them, holding his arm that was bleeding grey. He was a little roughed up, but other than that, he looked fine. He looked so happy, a bright smile with light blushes on his cheeks almost made him look like his old self again. He looked so cute. How flattering...This is how they would act if Yugi had really died. He made a small cough, his breathing a bit irregular. "My twilight magic manipulated Atem's blast to make it more positive. So when it exploded, it restored everything back to the way things were instead of wiping everything out." Yami's eyes grew wider, shining with happiness, and Atem looked absolutely relieved. A small smile formed on his face. Yugi tilted his head and spread his arms out, despite the right one hurting like hell. "Come here."
It only took less than a second for the two men to run and tackle Yugi down with hugs.
"Don't ever think that I would die on you guys, ever again." His voice was quiet. Everything was quiet except for their panting. Everything was peaceful. His two lovers were resting on his chest, savoring the one shred of peace they've ever had this entire day. The bright sun made the sky turn in shades of orange and yellows. It was a pretty sunset. They all closed their eyes, feeling as if they could fall asleep forever.
They did it. They could rest now. They won.
"I love you..."
"We love you too."
END 30
Well everyone, that's it. Of course, there will be an epilogue chapter after this. But other than that, this story is pretty much over. It was a hell of a ride, considering all the events that's happened to me during my time writing this. Now can I just say how grateful I am to all the viewers who supported me and this story since the first chapter? You all are just incredible. You make me happy, and inspire me to write. And of course, some of this wouldn't have been possible without my partner in crime, my mother. (Cool mom who majored in journalism.)
As this is the end of PTV, this isn't the end of my writing. A new story is coming soon. It is called, "I am 95.I". Be sure to check it out once I post the first chapter. To wrap it up, once again, thank you guys so much. Take it easy, and I'll see you all soon. ^_^
