Bruder

"Thank you so much for staying with us and gracing us with your presence." Ginny said into my hair as she hugged me tight. I felt my heart melt.

Ginny released me and I gave her a smile. Her return smile was sweet and it crinkled her eyes. I broke away from her gaze and landed my own on the brightest green eyes I had ever seen. Harry's features were soft and kind. As we stood on the platform to board the train, I made a decision. I was going to use the Gryffindor Bravery that I have buried deep in my bones. His expression melted into confusion as I continued to look at him while gathering my courage.

"Harry, is it alright if I gave you a hug?" I inquired meekly. I felt James stiffen next to me and Albus sucked in air quickly. My protectors were just as nervous as I was.

"If you are comfortable with that, Calesta, I would be happy to give you a hug." Harry replied gently. I felt the corners of my mouth curl up in a smile as my heart warmed even more.

I stepped slowly towards him and I felt my arms lift to wrap around his torso. Harry's chest was firm, but he wrapped his arms around my shoulders and I realized he was a soft person. He was muscular, being in law enforcement and playing pick-up games of Quidditch, but he was warm and gentle and comforting. He could look Dark Wizards down with a fierce stare, but his eyes sparkled with love and caring. He was the perfect mix of man and father. And I understood why his sons had the ability to not only show their love for their family, but also stand between wands and their cousins without batting an eyelash.

"Thank you for welcoming me into your home." I murmured into his chest. I felt rather than heard the deep, soft chuckle.

"You come back anytime, you hear?" he whispered to the top of my head. Short girl problems. Even the shorter males towered over me, "I think Ginny liked having someone do the dishes in the morning." I giggled.

"I will most definitely come back. Thank you." and with one last squeeze, I broke from his embrace and flashed a smile to the Potters.

With a final wave, I walked towards the train between the Potter brothers with Lily on James' other side, nestled under his arm.

Our compartment started to fill up with people. More specifically, it was getting full of red heads. I was seated next to Albus and against the wall while varying shades occupied the benches. Hugo ended up snuggling with me in my lap. I deemed it important that he not be too far away from me at all times. Lily and Rose had also not wanted him far away. I volunteered the only seat after all the older kids had parked their rears. Even Lily ended up in James' lap. The fact that everyone seemed comfortable with smaller bodies balancing on knees told me that this was not the first time that they had done this. I was going to ask Albus if they had made it tradition to have one last family gathering before the beginning of term later.

"Look at that, my favorite gingers and honorary ginger." a cool voice said from the doorway to the compartment. I had been conversing with Hugo, but at the sound of the familiar voice, my head snapped to the left and there stood Scorpius, leaning a shoulder on the door jam, looking every bit the suave rich pureblood that came with his name.

"Bruder!" I exclaimed with a wide grin, "Kahn ich mit Ihnen sprechen?"

"Ja." he replied as he pushed off the doorframe to lead me to the hallway.

I ruffled Hugo's hair before kissing the side of his head. He smiled at me, but still moved off my lap. I gave him a gentle smile and stood as my lap was vacated. The Potter/Weasley clan ignored my actions and continued conversing with each other. I sidled my way out of the crowded compartment. It may have been over occupied, but it was filled with love. And I adored the feelings that were surrounding the large family of children.

Scorpius waited patiently for me. This was unusual, because he hardly ever deals with me patiently. He was not as experienced with younger brothers and sisters like James, Louis, Fred and Molly. They could handle me when I my mind was slow on the uptake. They could handle me while I cried and blubbered endless streams of words. But Scorpius never had to deal with crying or much stupidity before. He most of the time would snap at me and tell me stop. That would just make me cry harder or become even more nervous. That is when I am normally handed to the closest Weasley or Potter. Yeah, he totally loves me.

The blonde wizard led me to a compartment. He barked at the other children to leave. It was only three, two boys and a girl. I recognized them as some of our housemates. They took a look in my direction and recognition flashed over their faces. They knew that if Scorpius had me in tow, he would not tolerate any kind of attitude from anyone. It happened around the beginning of December. Someone had made a comment about why I was always hanging off of him like some kind of desperate slag. Scorpius turned on the student and snarled viciously. He may not deal with my emotions, but he does not tolerate crudeness directed towards me. It got around Hogwarts not to talk about me while in the presence of the Malfoy heir.

We entered the now empty compartment and he closed the door and pulled down the screen for privacy. I turned to him and his expression was indifferent. Scorpius watched me. I could tell he was looking for the pendant. I had it tucked under my shirt for safe keeping. And because I did not think I could display it out in the open.

"Was brauchen Sie?" he asked.

"Ich wollte Ihnen für mein Geschenk danken. Also, ich danken ihnen, Scorpius." I replied quietly. He contemplated my words for a moment. His eyes lingered at my neck were the two silver delicate chains peeked out from my collar. I pulled them from under their shield and let the two hearts, now only one, hang for him to see. I could see the pleased light enter his eyes.

"Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, meine Klein." he replied as he fingered the two joined hearts. Their crimson and forest green rings played nicely off the silver.

I waited for Scorpius to finish his inspection of his choice. His grey eyes were bright and not their usual cold. His expression had melted. I could feel the appreciation of seeing his token of brotherly love around my neck. Yeah, it sounds possessive, but I was beginning to understand how his mind works. If he claims something his, he will take care of it and treat it with the proper respect. By claiming me as his sister, he was giving me the best that money could buy and treating me like a princess. By admitting that he loved me like a member of his family, I was going to have his respect as a little sister.

Those grey pools looked into my eyes and I felt my chest explode. They were so warm with love and happiness. I could not help but grin at him. He rolled his eyes, but a small smile did sneak onto his lips. I giggled before I threw my arms around his neck, completely feeling safe. Scorpius was my safety. He could hold me while I cried silently about my nightmares. He could rock me while I calmed my racing heart. He could whisper sweet words of healing into my ear. Because he would never hurt me. He would never allow anyone to hurt me.

And I felt that as his arms circled around the middle of my back, holding me tightly to his chest.

"Ich liebe dich, Scorpius Malfoy." I whispered into the flesh at his neck.

"Ich liebe dich auch, Calesta Manslayer." ghosted over my loose hair. His breathe flowed my tresses and I felt my shoulders relax.

We parted after another moment and I tucked my necklace away. Scorpius kissed the top of my head and ushered me from the compartment. I smiled to the waiting Slytherins in the hall and they just watched me leave. I strolled back to the compartment with the Potter/Weasley clan. I paused outside the door and looked through the window. I watched them move around each other and laugh with each other and smile with each other.

I was a part of that. I was a part of that pure joy and love. This was my family too.
