Catch Me When I Fall

Kaylie's eyes blinked and fluttered a few times before they were fully opened. She felt fingers intertwining with her own and a stare from pair of eyes piercing her body. She turned her head and there sat Austin Tucker with his beautiful blue eyes watching her. Their eyes locked for a moment in silence before either of them said a word.

"Hi." Austin whispered, motioning his free hand to brush a lock of her deep brown hair of her out of her face and tucking it behind her ear.

"What happened?" Kaylie replied barely audible.

"Shhh.." Austin hushed placing his index finger on her lips. "Just rest. I'll tell you the whole story later."

"Have you been here this whole time?" she spoke softly.

He nodded. "I couldn't leave your side till I knew you were alright."

Kaylie smiled.

"So what you said back at my house, is it true?"

"Yes."

"Even the part where I'm not that cute and my personality sucks?" she chuckled.

"You're beautiful." he responded before kissing her hand.

"I'm beautiful but my zesty personality still sucks."

"Well, you really can be pain in the ass." he responded.

"I see." she replied turning her head away from him.

"Hey." he said caressing her cheek. "But there really is something special about you, Kaylie. I want to figure you out if you would just let me."

A teardrop rolled down her cheek.

"Austin, I'm sorry. All you have tried to was help me and I turned you away every time."

He wiped away the tear with his thumb.

"It's okay, Kaylie." he said trying to reassure her.

"No, it's not. I should have listened to you. I knew you were right. I should have-"

"Kaylie, Kaylie. I should have done more to help you. I could have avoided all of this." refering to her winding up in the hospital. "It's not your fault."

"But it is. You know what the worse part is? I was terrible to you and yet you never stopped caring. Why?"

"I will always be there to catch you when you fall, regardless of the situation; whether you want me to or not. I do the opposite of everything I'm told, remember?" he said attempting lightening the mood.

Kaylie smiled and gave his hand a small squeeze with the little strength she had.

"Do you remember when I told you I could possibly fall in love with you?" he asked.

She nodded.

"Well, I'm falling for you, Kaylie Cruz."

Austin leaned over and placed a soft kiss on her lips. He pulled back, looked into her big brown eyes giving her a sense of security and then kissed her again.

THE END.

I'm not sure how good this story was, or if it was any good at all. This is my first one shot and maybe my last. Well, maybe not last but I don't know how to write one shots so I probably won't be writing too many of them. Oh well. Enjoy.

ALSO, if you haven't already, don't forget to read my chapter fic: "There's Just Something About Her."
