Mass Effect Project Renegade

Chapter 7: Citadel Crisis

Before Jack's eyes twitched open, he administrated an emergency dosage of the serum to quickly mask his eyes. Jack's eyes immediately went from a bright red to a normal blue iris. In the room Jack saw Doctor Chakwas, and Gunnery Chief Williams. Jack took notice of his surroundings and knew he was in the Normandy Med bay. Jack's eyes shifted towards Doctor Chakwas.

"What's the external damage Doctor?"

Chakwas made way to her desk picking up the data file that has Jack's medical scans.

"hmm physically you're fine, but your brain waves were giving off an abnormal signals throughout the body."

Jack sat up from the Medical bed and put the data pad down.

"It's probably the reaction to the Prothean Beacon."

Ashley cut in to Jack's remark.

"No kidding Commander, before you black out though, the look on your face looks like you were seeing something horrible."

Then it all came back the visions that the Prothean beacon gave him, all those people in that message butchered, but the real question Jack was trying to attain was, who?

"I saw, Death, Destruction… It's all hard to process right now."

Doctor Chakwas once again picked up her data pad.

"Hmm.. I'll have to file this in my report… Oh Captain Anderson."

Everyone in the room's attention was now on the incoming Captain.

"How's our XO doing?"

Doctor Chakwas proceeded to hand Anderson the data pad on the information collected on the medical scans on the Commander.

"Physically he's fine Captain, though I'm unaware of the internal Damage on his mind."

As the two were conversing Jack was checking his health system through Project Renegade's Vision.

[Shut Down…]

Anderson dismissed both Ashley and Chakwas to the Mess Hall so he could talk to Shepard.

"I won't lie Shepard the Council isn't happy, the Beacon Destroyed and the we're getting a few raised brows from Nihlus's accusations on Saren."

Jack took out a pack of cigarettes, and proceeded to put one in his mouth.

"I could give two shits what the Council thinks, they don't the Fleets to threaten the Alliance."

Jack lit the cigarette, exhaling red smoke. Anderson gave out a slight cough, while waving the smoke out of his breathing space.

"Well whether you do or don't the Alliance doesn't have the allies to defy the entire council."

Jack's eyes shifted towards Anderson while putting out his smoke.

"The Alliance was doing fine on its own before we let a Foreign Government dictate terms over Humanity."

Anderson was about rebuttal that, but Joker interrupted the Captain.

"Captain we're approaching the Citadel."

Anderson ended the conversation by ordering Jack to head up to the bridge.

TEN MINUTES LATER...

The Normandy ground crew including Spectre Nihlus, were watching the confrontation between the Council and the Alliance Ambassador Udina.

"This is an outrage! How dare you not Prosecute Saren, I demand Action!"

Councilor Sparatus was the first to speak.

"You don't get to make demands on the Council Ambassador."

Udina immediately shot a glare at the Turian Councilor.

"Watch it Turian, you will treat the Alliance with Respect!"

Nihlus leaned in to whisper to Jack.

"It seems Turian and Human Relations are still dead in the Water."

Tevos intervened and broke up the argument.

"Gentleman please this topic is getting out of hand, Nihlus sent his report in and we will begin investigation by sending Citadel Security investigators to Eden Prime."

Udina interrupted Tevos.

"Absolutely not, I believe the Citadel Space has done enough to our colony."

Sparatus once again stopped Udina from continuing.

"Ambassador as I recall it was the Geth who invaded Eden Prime."

The Remark earned a glare from Udina.

"Oh you're right, the Geth did attack Eden Prime, which was INSTIGATED BY YOUR SPECTRE!"

Udina had enough of the Council's 'Support', he hung up on them and was about to make way to the tower, but before Udina could he had to debrief the ground team. Udina made way towards his desk and immediately took a drink from his silver flask.

"Captain Anderson… I see you brought half your crew with you."

Anderson shook his head.

"Just the Ground team from Eden Prime, including Nihlus."

Udina approached the crew sighing from the obvious stress hanging off his shoulder.

"The Council isn't pleased that their most experienced agent was accused of assaulting our Colony."

Jack stepped ahead of his colleagues.

"Is the Alliance going to retaliate if they don't arrest Saren?"

Udina leaned against the edge of the room overlooking the presidium.

"The Systems Alliance isn't letting this one go, ever these similar scenarios have happened in the past, which the Council is reluctant to shift the blame to Cerberus. If the Council refuses to charge Saren, they'll risk an Interstellar War, with the Alliance…. Let's not waste any more time, let's make our way to the Council Chambers. "

As the Crew made their way to the Council chambers Jack saw the three Councilors, including the Giant Size Saren in a hologram. Jack for some reason knew Saren.

No… I- I Killed him!

Saren was supposedly killed by Jack, it all came back to him, The Synthetic arm, replaced the one Jack tore off, the synthetic eyes which Jack gouged out, the chest which he smashed in and impaled his limped body on the wall, the tubes connecting to the back of his skull, from being fractured and finally the two mandibles which were tore off on his lower jaw.

Jack however had the ultimate surprise; Saren did not know the attackers face due to it was hidden behind Jack's Nightmare Cerberus Armor.

Anderson was now worried, with Saren off the Citadel, he would lie his way to make the Council believe he didn't do it. The idea scared Anderson, this action would defiantly bring War, with the Council.
