Mass Effect Project Renegade
Chapter 15: Your Greatest Fan…
The Normandy was docked at the Citadel and the Entire Ground Team was separating to spend their hours of Shore leave before the Normandy was restocked. Tali, Zoey, and Garrus accompanied Jack on his list of requirements.
As they waited in the elevator, Garrus decided to bring up a Sensitive subject.
"You know Tali I hope your people are content of unleashing the Geth on the galaxy."
Tali's eyes widened hearing that from Garrus.
Why is he bringing this up? What could he possibly hope to gain?!
Jack just turned his head towards Garrus's position.
"Garrus the Geth only attacked the Human Race."
Garrus looked towards the Commander.
"But Commander this is the Quarian's fault, if they hadn't created the Geth, we wouldn't of been in this situation."
Jack just stepped in front of Garrus.
"Vakarian you know nothing, so do not assume you know anything about the War that drove the Quarians of their home world. Instead of helping the Quarians the Citadel Council, your species which blocked aid towards the Quarians, you attacked the victim of that war; The Quarians are living on borrowed time on their dying ships, because the Council feels content of doing Nothing. The blood is on your hands, not the people who are wondering the stars right now. If you feel like bringing this up again trying to poke a nerve, I'll throw you out of this window."
Tali could not believe what just happened.
He… he Defended my people?
Garrus was speechless, he was just put down.
"I'm sorry Commander, you're right."
Jack pointed at Tali, which Garrus immediately took notice.
"Sorry… Tali."
Zoey patted Jack on the shoulder.
The elevator stopped on the C-Sec level, as the four exited the elevator Jack was approached by Khalisah Bint Sinan al Jilani, from Westerlund News.
"Commander Shepard Khalisah Bint Sinan al Jilani, from Westerlund News, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"
Jack looked at the Reporter, scanning her with his eyes making sure she was no one out of the ordinary.
"That depends on the questions."
Khalisha, was fixing her hair and prepping for the interview.
"People back home have heard wild stories about you, I can give you the chance to set the record straight, what do you say?"
Jack put his hands behind his back.
"So long as you understand that I may not be able to answer all questions."
Khalisah activated her light on her camera.
"I'm sure our viewers will understand…. Many Human politicians in the System Alliance Space have been trying to get the respect of the galactic community for twenty-six years. What do you have to say about that?"
"The System Alliance was doing fine on its own, now that we entered the Citadel Space, are we better off no. The Alliance right now is dealing with internal strife's Political Fall Out within our own Government after the successful coup against the traitors who would have sold Humanity out. Civil Unrest, is sparking across our border colonies, many threatening to secede from the System Alliance due to the laws passed by the Citadel Council. This could all change with Terra Firma's party on the rise in the Parliament of the System's Alliance. We may not be fully apart of the Council but they feel they could dictate laws over us. If our Internal strife's weren't enough the Alliance is dealing with Citadel Council who keep demanding us to decrease the size of our fleet or face the wrath of their 'sanctions', why should we decrease the size of our fleet, our Garden World Eden Prime was a good example of Council 'protection', Citizens of the Alliance are even still targeted for being Human by certain groups here in Citadel Space as well, during the early expansion, they allowed Batarians to continuously raid our colony worlds and take our citizens as slaves, I can clearly say where they can shove their respect."
Khalisha was loving this, the fire coming from the Commander.
"Strong words Commander, it's a good time for Strong Words…. You've been given command of an advanced Human Warship for your missions, is there anything you'd like to say about it?"
"The Normandy is a triumph of human engineering. Like our development of Carriers and Stealth Frigate's it shows the Citadel Council that we're able to think 'outside the box'" replied Jack.
Great now to ask a question to get some ratings.
"Many Defeatist in Citadel Space, most of them Turian retirees, say the Alliance can't compete with Strength of the entire Citadel Fleet."
"What the Hierarchy would like to forget is the Systems Alliance crippled several of their fleets, conquered dozens of their worlds, and invaded Manae. The Systems Alliance Fleet if threatened could take on the Citadel Fleet… And Win without a doubt." Replied Jack.
Wow…
"You… Seem so sure?... Given your recent experience, do you think humanity will ever get the respect if deserves from the Galactic Community."
"Once the Systems Alliance gets its act together in the Parliament we're about to go through a Golden Age, bigger than the one from the Mars archives. The Galaxy will finally know we're here to stay."
Alright one more question.
"Excellent… One more question Commander Shepard Rumors back home say you're tracking a 'rogue Spectre' name Saren…. Do you have any comment on that?"
"Spectre Saren was responsible, for the attack of Eden Prime, responsible for the Hundreds of deaths there and before, and the Council they sat on their asses and did nothing about it, when I find that Son of a Bitch, I'll bring his head on pike if need be and parade it through the Council Tower."
Wait what?!
"The Reports say that, it was an isolated incident… Thank you for the information Commander….. Thank you very much for the interview Commander good luck on your mission."
As the four made their way through the markets in the Wards Shepard bumped in to someone.
"Wait Commander Shepard!"
Jack raised an eyebrow.
"Ah Verner was it?"
Conrad rubbed the back of his head.
"Yes I have an idea I was hoping to bring it up with you."
Minutes would past, with a Commander receiving a two second headache, and a fan that got to come along on a journey of his life.
"Verner go buy your equipment and meet me back these coordinates, if you're late the ship takes off without you."
Conrad did a mock Salute.
"Oh, Yes Sir!"
Conrad ran to the market buying the necessary equipment for his Journey, Zoey looked at Shepard.
"That was nice of you Shepard."
Shepard just signaled the squad to follow him.
They approached the elevator that led up to the presidium.
2162
Rising Star Facility/Med Lab.
The Alien awoke in a sterile white room.
"Hello? …. Where am I… Where is my suit?!"
….
"What is your species?"
The Aliens eyes widened from the voice coming from the speakers.
"Qu-Quarian… Where am I?"
May looked at Jack, she took over the Mic.
"Do you have a name?"
….
"Nara'Ral Nar Rayya"
There was a silence before the speakers went up again.
"Nara you were clinically dead when we found you, you were killed by a walking mech… we brought you back here to be revived."
Nara could remember she was shot, she cried at her last moments that she would never serve on a ship…. That she wouldn't have kids, she would never experience life.
"How did you bring me back?"
End of Flash Back…
Jack was approaching a multispecies diner, before he entered it his Omni Tool lit up.
"Guys I got to take this call, go find a table."
The trio made their way to the tables as Jack sat on a bench, by the lake, seconds later a man in a trench coat with a black beret.
"Jack…" Stated the man.
"Messenger…" Replied Jack.
The Messenger brought out a Square Case.
"I brought this back to the labs sixty glasses full."
Jack took it putting it to his side of the bench.
"Thanks Messenger… do you have any other facilities?"
The Messenger nodded slightly.
"One, we've received reports on Ferros, our research colony... I got to go, Jack good luck… you're doing great out there."
Messenger got up from his seat and left the area, leaving Jack to take the case and head towards the diner. Lunch for the four was great, each of them exchanging stories of their lives, and Jack being careful of what he revealed. As the four made it back there Conrad was in a Medium style armor holding an avenger along with a big case along with a bag strapped to his back.
"Hey Commander I'm here!"
The Five entered the Ship and Conrad now integrated in to the Normandy's Crew. Jack retreated to is cabin, but before he got some shut eye a knock on the door could be heard. When Jack opened the door it was the Young Chief Williams.
