Chapter 40: Watch your back.
Sky Cars with the remaining crew of the Normandy under the command of Jack's second in command Kai Leng, sped to their destination hoping to finish this mission with a speed that would match their Commander's.
Bethora sat by Leng on his right, while Zoey and Garrus sat in the back.
"Leng was it? you were there on Shanxi... What was it like during the start of the... what the Humans call it First Contact War?" asked Bethora.
Bethora couldn't tell it on Leng's face as he drove the Sky Car, it had no marks of emotion on it.
"I wasn't on Shanxi during the initial invasion, I was there when we had to evict the Hierarchy's forces off of the planet... However the surface of Shanxi... when we landed to face the Turian Ground forces... cities had signs of orbital bombardment... bodies scattered the streets both Human and non human alike... It was brutal, for the weak minded... In a single day I got 739 confirmed kills from CQB, 240 confirmed kills from a Assault phase tactic aka 'Blitzkrieg', 416 confirmed kills from Tactical deployment. "
"You can remember that?" Bethora asked with a small surprise in her voice.
"I can remember everything... even when I was birthed from my tank... It's the implants we were surgically integrated in to us while we were being created in our tanks."
"So what about emotions?" Zoey chirped in, taking the words out of Bethora's mouth.
"Some Emotions were modified to make sure order is established and so it doesn't interfere with our mission. Fear was modified for us so in battle it doesn't effect our ability to fight. In battle our emotions are minimized to the bare minimal so our feeling don't effect our choices."
"Wait hold on second, you can choose to minimize your core emotions?" Garrus interrupted.
"A good soldier follows orders..." Leng said with a machine like expression.

The three Sky Cars landed on the towers landing bay, Eclipse mercenaries saw the arrivers moving towards the bullet proof window. Leng ordered Garrus to get in to sniping position with Zoey, while Bethora, Zaeed, Grunt and Jacob took the advance on the entrance. Leng to the Eclipse distraught broke through the glass with ease, rolling on the ground drawing his blade. The four ground team members broke off following Leng as the eclipse troops began to fire a barrage of the accelerated rounds. Leng slid on his back while slicing three of the four mercenaries in the landing area. Leng sweep kicked the last mercenary on to the ground, with a swift elbow in to the mercenary's neck cause his head to bend in an unnatural way.
A YMIR Mech began to fire off its missile payload towards Leng, though Leng's implants began to activate it's cyber warfare, throwing the missiles off it's course.
The YMIR Mech's VI was in full over drive as it was targeting while firing it's Vulcan Cannon at Leng. Leng jumped towards the Mech holding his sword in a striking position as he fell down on to the YMIR. Leng struck the YMIR'S chest causing the machine to fall on it's back, with little effort Leng removed his blade from the Mech's armor sheathing before he grabbed one of the Mech's legs.
Leng tossed it over an elevator drop, firing a single shot from his handgun destroying the YMIR in a fiery explosion. Two Vanguards Biotically charged Leng causing no effect as the Biotic build up in the charge disintegrated as their fists connected to Lengs chest, not even phased by the attack Leng kicked the first vanguard in the groin causing him to fly towards the other side of the room hitting the ceiling in the process. Leng wraps his arm around the other Vanguards neck twisting it, breaking his neck causing the mercenary to drop like a rag doll. Garrus began to pick off the mercenaries that started to get near the advancing team while Zoey target's began to drop on the unfinished rail way where Leng tossed the Ymir mech down.
With the landing area cleared the crew moved forward to the elevator. The crew immediately stopped at a corridor seeing a small eclipse army, blocking crew's way to their destination.
Leng drew his sword, as his optics lit up, scanning his targets.
"Are you crazy there is no way we're getting through that with our numbers." Garrus argued.
Leng smiled as he got in to combat stance.
"No.. . now it gets fun." Leng said with a vicious smile.
Leng's optics began to synthesize a helmet around Leng's head. Leng cracked his neck and then without warning he disappeared in a flash charging right into the eclipse army. Mercenaries could be seen being tossed around hitting the walls, and being thrown over the edge.
Eclipse soldiers in a panic began to fire with in their own lines trying to hit the attacker, but after a few seconds passing, the officers began to break rank calling a full retreat of the loading bay. Eclipse soldiers began to break the glass shooting wires on to the next floor to fall back. Eclipse mercenaries began to retreat in droves causing panic in the last blockade of soldiers.
Leng jumped in the air with an red electrical current being charged in his right hand, Leng slammed the ground shaking the floor causing a electrical explosion, throwing the surrounding forces off their feet. A Salarian mercenary got to close to Leng, which Leng dispatched his head cleanly off his shoulders, the head of the fallen mercenary fell on to a Asari Vanguard's lap as she recovered from the explosion, she screamed throwing the head off her lap.
"Nothing's killing him! GET THE FUCKING MUSCLE IN HERE!" Screamed the Eclipse Captain.
Four Krogan and Six Batarian mercenaries tackled Leng trying to keep him in place. Leng began to twirl them around lifting the Krogan and Batarian off their feet. Leng made quick work throwing them off while dispatching them through CQB moves. Leng approached a cowering Asari Vanguard grabbing her head putting it on the retina scanner. The scanner scanned the Asari Vanguard's retina with in a millisecond, with elevator opening Leng threw the Asari in to a hover pad full of crates.

Per Council's request Special Tactics Reconnaissance has reserved this report primarily for Human relations. Negotiations with Ambassador Krant has been anything but fruitful, we believe this Ambassador was too defiant with the meeting with the Honorable Council. Our first thoughts that Ambassador Krant did not represent the so called 'Systems Alliance' as he showed his arrogance in presence of the Council however this was not so as the Council attempted to contact the Human Systems Alliance Prime Minister ZachevMoric... One could call Ambassador Krant a saint compared to ZachevMoric... he'd put the Krogan ambassador to shame with his chosen words for the Council... The Council made it very clear that future Citadel relations with Humanity, or any attempts to bring them back to the negotiating table would be non-existent as long as ZachevMoric is still representing Humanity's government...

Prime Minister George Materson is a suitable candidate to continue negotiations with, as we speak George Materson is holding a session with the Systems Alliance Government... he's attempting to bring Fleet level size down to Council approval as well as returning Turian Colonies to the original Government's possession. We foresee a good future on the negotiations with Humanity and inducting their species for Citadel guidance. We can safely call Operation turn coat a success.

Update.
A Coup has been reported through our listening devices, further intel has been reported that the Systems Alliance Military has seized the Parliament arresting Materson... shutting down his policies... Humanity has reformed their Government at an alarming speed... Operation Turn Coat has failed and now their new Ambassador Udina will be shortly arriving... Further information on the Systems Alliance Coup was supplied by some sort of Human Black Operations division... Division Named: Cerberus... Further information is needed on this Human group, forwarding Information to Citadel Council.
Leng and the crew finally made their way up to the top of Dantius Tower facing Nassana and her Elite Eclipse Guards. The Guards rose their weapons at the group, but Nassana ordered them to lower as they were surrounded.
"Before you kill me, tell me why is Cerberus here? "
Leng stepped closer making a scoff noise, while causing the guards to back off from Nassana, nearing the window.
"Don't flatter yourself, Cerberus isn't interested in you, but your Assassin who's gunning for you."
Nassana slammed both palms of her hands on her desk glaring at Leng, who slowly approached her.
"Bull Shit, you cut through my security forces looking for a single assassin who's trying to kill me? I'm not buying it."
Out of the vent Leng's optics located the Assassin as he swooped down to the floor taking out two of the Elite Eclipse, Leng shot out a wire at Nassana wrapping around her pulling her over her desk on to the floor before the Assassin could open fire. The Assassin immediately took notice to his target going over her desk, and vaulted the said desk to reach his target. Leng stepped in leaving the Assassin no choice but to engage in hand to hand. The Drell Assassin was good, but Leng hand the advantage over speed and maneuverability when it came to close quarter combat. Every punch, kick, and throw the Assassin launched at Leng, Leng deflected it looking for an opening. The Assassin went for Leng's neck believing he could snap his neck.
The Assassin executed his move trying to break his neck, only to find out that it had no effect as Leng looked at the Assassin with a murderous rage. In an instant, Leng executed his move in which the Assassin could not predict. With a Mixture of Kempo and Kung Fu Leng brought the Assassin down throwing him into the desk causing it to dent the metal. Leng jumped into the air raising his sword landing on the desk breaking it in half, while pointing his sword at the Assassins neck.

Jake moved in taking out several LOKI Mech's and five of it's FENRIS Mech's, Miranda and (Jack) provided biotic support shoring up on Jake's flank. Each bullet that passed through the barrel of Jake's weapon shot in critical places of both Mercenary and Mech. One bullet passed through a Mercenary's neck then ricocheting into the chest of another, the second one hit a canister causing the crane to drop a supply crate on a squad of advancing Eclipse Mercs.
"Nice Shot!" Miranda yelled out to Jake, as he continue to rack up a body count.
Jack and May moved up near the elevator, May equipped with her Stakeout shotgun, and Jack with his Black Widow began to take on a several squads of Eclipse troops. Jack fired off a bullet from his sniper going through four mercenaries, while May fired off three slugs causing three mercenaries chest's to cave in with their armor offering little to no protection.
Mercenaries that got too close to May, were quickly dispatched by May the oncoming group were like meat going through the grinder. The first one had his shoulder broken, then his knee and lastly his neck. Two others moved in only to have their skulls fractured through there broken helmet as May grabbed their heads slamming them together. An Eclipse Turian Sentinel jump packed down trying to catch May off guard, The Sentinel's curved blade came out of his sheath from his left arm on his armor. holding the dagger with his right hand the Turian swung it down behind May, but May grabbed his hand twisting his arm while keeping his hand still on the blade she spun around shoving the blade in his chest. The Sentinel hunched over spitting blood out blood in his helmet, leaving May to place a detonator on before activating his jump pack in to twenty mercenaries.
Jack moved in jumping crate to crate, dispatching sharpshooters trying to take shots at his ground team. On the Last crate Jack activated his rocket boots zooming over in the loading dock firing off explosive rounds in to the enemy's position. Jack unequipped his Black Widow leaving him to quickly unsheathe his combat knife and sword, swooping down Jack tackled five Eclipse Mercenaries.
Tali and Kasumi open the elevator door seeing Mercenary corpses scattered by the entrance. Jack could be seen sheathing his blades after dispatching the Mercenaries guarding the entrance.
"Good Job girls..."Jack commented on Tali's and Kasumi's success as Jack and the others entered the elevator from clearing the Loading dock of Mercenary defenders.

"I see a Suicide Mission... Yes a Suicide Mission will do nicely... I'm dying." Thane commented on Leng's offer.
"Kepral Syndrome?" Leng asked Thane.
Thane could only nod seeing as Kepral Syndrome was a slow killing disease.
"That's not really a problem Cerberus has procedures to rid Drell of Kepral Syndrome."
Thane's head shot up hearing that from Leng about a cure to his disease.

"Nikket you Betrayed Me..." Miranda announced as she drew her smg on Nikket causing him to back off.
Seeing Miranda raise her weapon, the crew followed in suite, raising their different assortment of weapons. Jack just pointed his AR-15 at Nikket putting a round in to his leg, then into the Eclipse Captian's head.
"May stop the bleeding on Nikket's leg, Miranda you're free to evacuate your sister... Report back when your done."
Miranda only nodded knowing what had to be done, so she could concentrate on the mission at hand. Jack removed his helmet seeing the threat has passed, he took a cigarette out of his pack preparing to quench his nicotine rush. Tali approached Jack holstering her weapon on her back, causing Jack to look up at her as he sat on a box full of supplies.
"Hey Shepard..."Tali said nervously causing Jack to wonder.
"What's wrong?"Jack asked with a hint of interest in his voice.
Tali was wringing her fingers together, as something was on her mind but was unable to speak her peace as May came in interrupting the two.
"Jack, I stopped the bleeding, we can question him when Miranda gets back or we can do it now if you want?"
Jack feeling uninterested of what happens to Nikket, he decided to let Miranda handle it.
"Let Miranda deal with him, I bet she has a few words for Nikket."

It seems Joker's going to get some Competition, as Sarah returns from her slumber... Miranda successfully rendezvoused with her sister and Thane Krios is getting recruited. With all the people they're finding will it be enough to stop the Collector's schemes from stealing anymore colonies?
