Michael whirled around to glare at Gabriel, "What did you do?!" Gabriel choked out a laugh, "Me?! I did nothing!" Michael advanced on his brother, sword in hand, with a threatening look.
Gabriel brought his own sword up in a flash, holding off Michael's advances. Alex made a move towards the two and Michael expanded his wings, yelling at him, "Stay back Alex, this is between us."
The two angels circled each other, their wings spread, the anger and tension palpable. Michael lashed out with his sword, opening a long gash on Gabriel's right bicep.
Gabriel hissed in pain and stepped back, bringing his wings up to protect himself. Michael lowered his sword, anger contorting his face, "Fight damn you!"
Gabriel laughed grimly and dropped his wings, launching himself at Michael, locking them in a deadly battle. As the angels continued to cut each other, their battle grew more heated.
Both angels threw every trick they knew at each other, each only momentarily gaining the upper hand before the other used their vast knowledge of the others' skills to turn the tide.
In the brief moment when he had the upper hand, Michael drew back to deal a wicked blow, and another blinding light filled the glen.
Both Michael and Gabriel covered their eyes, abandoning their fight; Alex too, covered his face, wondering if this was another powerful angel come to help their side, or Gabriel.
A warm presence filled the glen, melting the snow and ice, and bringing forth spring crocuses.
When the light cleared, Michael felt his world tilt on its axis, his swords slipping from his hands.
Gabriella stood in the glen, surrounded in a soft glowing light, her long dark hair loose and curling softly around her shoulders, garbed in a white sweater and jeans, pearlescent wings spread behind her, golden spear in hand.
All the men stared at her, awestruck. Gabriella turned to look at Gabriel, and stared at him gravely.
She raised a hand and a ball of violet energy formed, glowing softly. "You have upset the balance of this world Gabriel. You have betrayed our Father and your family. Father, does however, forgive you. He loves you, and will gladly welcome you back into the fold, if you simply end your war against humanity. If you however, choose to continue this war, know that I will use my power to stop you, and bring you to heel."
At this the ball of energy moved from Gabriella's hand to float in front of her, and with a twist of her wrist, she flicked it towards him.
Gabriel raised his sword to deflect it, which proved useless as the ball of energy passed through the sword and sunk into his chest.
Gabriel dropped his sword and patted his chest, fear plain on his face. He looked up to Gabriella, "What have you done to me?"
Gabriella raised a brow, "I have placed a tracker of sorts inside you. I will now always be able to find you."
Gabriel whitened and backed away, "What are you going to do?"
Gabriella stared at him for a moment, and then spoke, a smile ghosting upon her lips, "That depends on you Gabriel. Do you give up your war on humanity? Your desire to rule them? Do you wish to rejoin Heaven? If not, know that there will be no corner of the Earth on which you can hide from me."
Gabriel stared at her and then straightened, a wry smile twisting his mouth, "I think I would like to see those powers on display. Catch me if you can!"
With that he spread his wings and took off rapidly, not looking back. Gabriella watched him fly away and sighed softly, apparently he wanted to do this the hard way.
"Gabby?" Alex called softly, hardly daring to believe it was her.
She turned to face him, and smiled gently, "Alex" her voice filled with warmth.
Alex could hardly believe it was Gabriella, she looked the same and yet so different. There seemed to be a light surrounding her, and her tattoos were gone.
She looked healthy and fit, like she had when they had first met. Alex walked slowly up to her, his heart in his throat. Gabriella reached a hand out to him, smiling brightly when he took it.
"Gabby, how is this possible?" he asked quietly. Gabriella glanced over to Michael who was still standing, staring at her.
She smiled at him and waved him over, waiting until he was standing side by side with Alex. She reached out and took Michael's hand, holding tightly, just as she held Alex's.
"Well, Gabriel was right about one thing. I am an angel. When I died, I was taken, body and soul into Heaven, where the transformation was completed."
Michael gave her a confused look, "But no one can enter Heaven with Father gone."
Gabriella smiled, "I can enter heaven because I am a dynameis. I control heaven, earth and the universe, making sure that all is in order."
She turned and looked at Michael, smiling hesitantly, "I am overjoyed to be back. To see you again, my love."
She squeezed Alex's hand, "May we have a moment, brother?" He smiled and nodded, releasing her hand, walking over to the hummer to sit inside, placing his head in his hands, his emotions overcoming him.
Gabriella refocused her attention on Michael, who she could tell was happy to see her, but she could see the anxious fear in his eyes about her being alive again.
She reached out and placed a hand tentatively on his cheek, thrilling in the sensation of skin against skin, her powerful senses telling her that his heart was beating faster, making the blood rush faster under her fingertips.
Gabriella leaned up and brushed a kiss across his lips, smiling when he pulled her against him, his strong arms winding around her, fingers threading through her hair.
Gabriella felt her powers telling her that this, them being together, was right, and would only make them stronger. Breaking away, Gabriella stared up into Michael's beautiful eyes, smiled and whispered, "Come on my flyboy, it's time to go. We have a lot to do."
Michael nodded, not taking his eyes off of her as they made their way over to the hummer. He had felt a wave of relief go through him at her use of his nickname, he had been afraid that she would be so changed by the transformation into an angel that she would no longer be his Gabriella. Now he knew that nothing could change her or take her from him.
SHE'S BAAAAAACK! ha! See!? No more stressing about her being dead! And I promise I will give a better description of Gabriella's wings in the next chapter!
