Sorry that it has been so long to put this chapter up, Uni and life hit me like a tidal wave but I should be back and able to do lots of chapters in quick succession. One more person to recruit after this and then the fun and antics can begin! Bear with me please R&R if you like and I may upload quicker.
"Do you get shot at everywhere you go?!" Tsubasa called to her sister who was ducking behind a tipped over bar table. The group had literally opened the doors to Chora's den to find themselves walking in to an ambush. Tsubasa and Kaiden ran to the left for cover while Maiyu and Garrus had ran to the right.
"What can I say? Must be my Animal magmatism" she laughed before she squeaked in shock as a bullet just grazed her cheek. She quickly raised out of her crouch and picked off the man that dared to actually land a hit on her.
"What?" A confused Garrus asked as he looked over at the three human members that seemed to have got what she said. Before raising up out of cover taking out a few guys himself.
"I will explain later" Maiyu said as she holstered her sniper rifle again to switch it for her sword as she dash out of cover charging down a few of the thugs that were stupid enough to let her too close. It wasn't until she stumbled back with a light appearing to shatter around her after a couple of bullets managed to connect with her shields. She turned around to spot which guy had managed to shoot her only to see him suddenly drop to the floor after a precise shot to the head. "What the? Tsubasa?" she said as he shields finally regenerated and she had recovered from the shock of almost getting shot.
"Huh? It wasn't me whatever it was!" she called as she biotically threw one thug in to another creating almost a domino effect as they were rendered unconscious from the force of the impact.
"Wasn't me either Commander" Kaiden added as he used his biotic's to pull them towards Tsubasa's domino line.
"Then who?" She thought as she slashed another thug before turning around to find one had snuck up behind her. Only for a split second while she was frozen did it take for their new turian team mate to scope out the thug and take him down before he could do any damaged. "Ohh…." Maiyu breathed as her body relaxed and she glanced over towards Garrus with a grateful smile.
It hadn't taken the team long to find their way through to the back of the sleazy bar and take out the remaining thugs. The team stormed in to the office weapons already drawn as a man laughed.
"So this is the team he sends to take me out! I will not fall!" he calls as two turrets came out of the floor at the back corner of the room. Everyone took cover as the turrets began to open fire, the bullets barely touching some of them.
"Kaiden, Garrus take out those turrets" she started before looking behind her with a small smile on her face that wasn't really readable. "Mind giving me a lift Sis?" she asked as she leaped out of the cover causing Kaiden and Garrus to follow behind shooting at both turrets. As Maiyu charged towards Fade she kicked off the floor launching herself in to the air, Tsubasa quickly hit her with a biotic throw as Maiyu's body twisted in the air. Her feet connected with Fades shoulders quickly pinning him to the floor as a simultaneous explosion of the turrets signalled that they were clear of danger.
"Right Fade, you have two seconds to tell me where the quarian is or else you'll never be able to use your little prick again" she smiled as she spoke, her feet either side of his head while her sword rested casually on her shoulder.
"Whats a?" Garrus started before both Kaiden and Tsubasa shook their heads simultaneously.
"Maiyu will explain later" they both spoke at the same time followed by a groan of pain from kaiden after being smacked across the head by Tsubasa.
"She is in the ally by the markets, but you'll never get to her in time" he said staring up at the tiny girl that had him to pin to the floor.
"They also said we wouldn't be able to get to you, but here I am" she laughed with an innocent smile before looking back at the rest of her team mates. "Come on we have a quarian to save" she said as she started to walk away before looking back at Fade who had got back in to his upright position. She walked back over and with a quick flash Fade had returned to a heap on the floor holding his nose as blood poured out.
"What was that for you little!" he started to curse before he was interjected by Maiyu.
"That was for ruining my suit" she said as she tilted her head causing her long purple hair to slide off her shoulder revealing a small tear in the suit. "You're just lucky it's easily repairable or else I would have done more than break your nose" she finished as she turned away and walked past her team with a grin on her face. "Now let's take Saren down"
"Now that is a line I understand" Garrus replied his mandibles flaring in a turian smile, the little commander quickly turned her attention elsewhere so attention wasn't drawn to the new burning on her cheeks. Thankfully it did not take the commander long to find a distraction as the doors opened on to the bar that was now crawling with more thugs attempting to stop them.
"Oh for crying out loud!" Tsubasa began to groan before a bullet came flying past her head, creating a little burn mark on her black hood. "That's it!" she cried before a wave of biotic threw several of the thugs flying in to wall of the opposite side of the bar.
"Leave some for the rest of us" Kaiden complained as he fired of his pistol rapidly at some of the smarter thugs that had the sense to keep cover. Garrus remained in the same position alongside the other two picking off thugs with his sniper rifle. It took them all a second to realise that one person in particular was missing. Each one of them looked down to where Maiyu had been stood only to find the space empty.
"Oh she is doing that again…" Tsubasa said crossing her arms over her chest while the other two looked at her almost slacked jaw.
"Doing wha?" Both Kaiden and Garrus had begun to question before the sudden lack of gunfire caught their attention. The looked around to see thugs suddenly just dropping to the floor with no indication of who was the cause. After the last thug dropped there appeared to be some discoloration of tiny rainbow coloured pixels until it shattered leaving a smiling commander sheathing her sword.
"That's what she was doing" Tsubasa said followed by a distorted sound that resembled a sigh. Maiyu just gave a small giggle and quickly turned on her heels before running out of the bar towards the place fade had mentioned. Quickly followed by the others closing the gap between them as they turned the corner into the ally.
"Where's the shadow broker, where's fist?" a voice carried up the stairs as the team took cover by some crates, waiting for the events to unfold.
"They'll be here where's the evidence" another voice spoke more masculine, Maiyu peeked over a crate spotting a turian running his hands over the Quarian until she quickly slaps his hand away.
"No way, the deals off" The quarian retorted as she slowly backed off as some salarian mercenaries began to approach her. With the flick of a wrist an object came flying out hitting the ground with an explosion sending the mercenaries flying back.
"Let's go kick some ass!" Maiyu said jumping over the crate kicking one Salarian square in the face, before firing her sniper rifle point blank in to his head. The others quickly followed suit Kaiden and Garrus keeping the others occupied, just as Tsubasa entered the picture with a singularity causing the remaining few to float before exploding them with a wrap.
"Fist set me up I knew I couldn't trust him!" The quiarian suddenly piped up causing all the team to turn around. Maiyu stepped away from the dead salarian towards the quarian as she reholstered her sniper rifle.
"Are you okay? They didn't hurt you did they?" Maiyu asked her visor already getting to work checking for any potential injuries.
"I know how to look after myself, not that I don't appreciate the help who are you anyway?" the quiarian responded her fingers twirling around each other as she looked down at the small purple haired girl.
"Oh I'm Commander Maiyu Shepard of the System Alliance Navy, and this is my team" She said pointing to the three behind her.
"Oh So I am just a team member now?" Tsubasa scoffed her hand resting on her hip as she looked down at her sister, which only she could tell that she was receiving a glare.
"Oh sorry, my team and my annoying little sister that has to but in" Maiyu said rolling her eyes but laughs.
"So what brings a… Commander down here after me?" the quiarian asked the glowing orbs flicking between each member.
"Oh we are looking for evidence against Saren" Maiyu answered her attention suddenly brought back.
"Oh then I may be able to repay you for saving me, but not here" the Quarian responded looking around the area swiftly.
"The ambassador's office, it will be safe there" Kaiden said causing most of the team to look around at him, while Maiyu nodded and waved everyone off.
It hadn't taken the five of them long to make their way from the wards back to the citidal embassies. However that was probably mostly due to the conveniently placed rapid transport terminal. That just happened to be right next to where they found Tali. Who had at some point in the journey decided to reveal her name after a small amount of badgering by Maiyu. The doors opened up on to Udina's office who didn't even turn around knowing who would just walk in to his office without announcement.
"You are not making my job easy Shepard, Fire fights on the wards?" Udina spoke resting his hands on his desk with his head hung for a few seconds. Until the childish giggle filled the silence in the room causing him to turn around and stare down at the small Commander.
"Well I did say I couldn't make any promises" she retorted with a small shrug of her shoulders, her sliver eyes peering out from behind the red visor caught Udina's eyes before she sighed. "Oh don't fret in the process of destroying Chora's den we got the evidence you need" she laughed indicating towards Tali. The Qurian quickly tapping away at her orange glowing omi-tool to play the evidence she had caused everyone to be shocked.
As the team walked out of the office Maiyu continued down the stairs to the main reception area, her fingers lightly tapping against her top lip. In deep thought she had not realised that the other team mates had been stood being her waiting instructions. She turned around with a huge grin on her face rubbing the back of her head lightly.
"I may have forgotten to go talk to someone…" she started before getting cut off by a rather annoyed sounding Tsubasa.
"Who in the world have you forgotten to talk to?..." she asked however the tiny commander was already making her way towards the C-sec headquarters without further explanation. The team followed a little sceptical the lift opening up on to a scene with a pissed off looking Krogan that was clearly having an argument with a human officer. By the time that everyone had realised Maiyu had already disappeared and could be heard introducing herself to the krogan.
"Hey, I'm Commander Maiyu Shepard" she started before being cut off again.
"You're a little small to be a commander aren't you?" The Krogan muttered as he lean down with a sceptical look.
"Uhh…. Yeah I am the shortest commander in the alliance… However I wanted to ask if you would like to join us…" she said trying her hardest to keep a smile on her face even though the rage was building up.
"You took out Fist?" He asked standing up to full height.
"Uh yeah?" Maiyu responded quizzical.
"Then you finished my job for me, so I will join in order to rectify that" he sighed before suddenly feeling extra weight hanging off his arm.
"Ah thank you! That is very much appreciated" she giggled before letting go of his arm and waving over at the rest of her team. Who had been stood motionless from shock at the Commander's complete disregard for her own safety. As the pair walked over to the rest of the team Tsubasa shook her head, her arms crossed tightly over her chest as a distorted sound broke through her mask that was probably intended as a sigh.
"Only you would be able to convince a Krogan to join your fight" Tsubasa finished as Maiyu just gave a small giggle response.
An hour later the team stood outside of the Normandy staring at Anderson and Udina, Maiyu in complete shock over what had just been uttered. "Wait your giving me the Normandy? I can't it's your ship Anderson!"
"You are a Spector now, you need your own ship and I have some stuff to do here" he said with a soft smile placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Maiyu stared down at the floor not sure how to react to the whole situation, until two more hands landed on her shoulder on top of Anderson's. She glanced behind her to see both Kaiden and Tsubasa stood behind her. She smiled at them both grateful to them as she turned back to Anderson nodding.
"I will end this Anderson, I won't make you regret this decision" She said raising tall as she saluted her superior.
"I won't. There is an Asari that could also be a great help I will send you her last known co-ordinates" Anderson said with a smile. "Now go get out of here" he finished waving the crew off as they entered the ship.
"I heard what happened to Captain Anderson, survives a hundred battles and then gets taken down by backroom politics" Joker spoke as Maiyu rounded the corner in to the cockpit of the Normandy. She stood next to his chair glancing down at the man with a sad smile. "Just watch Commander things go bad on this mission your next on the chopping block" Joker finished.
"Captain Anderson should be in charge, I feel like I have stolen the ship from him" Maiyu sighed rubbing at the nape of neck.
"Yeah the Captain got Screwed, but it's not like you could've gone stopped it. Nobody's blaming you, everyone on this ship is with you Commander, one hundred percent" Joker tried to reassure and received a small smile from Maiyu as he returned it he finished "Intercom's open. If you got anything to say to the crew, now's the time"
"This is Commander Shepard speaking, we have our orders: find Saren before he finds the conduit. I won't lie to you this mission won't be easy." Maiyu took a deep breath before continuing.
"For too long out species has stood apart from the others. Now it's time for us to step up and do our part for the rest of the galaxy! Time to show them what Humans are made off!" She said her emotions catching up to her as she gave a short pause to recollect herself
"Our Enemy knows we are coming. When we go in to the Traverse, Saren's followers will be waiting for us. But we'll be ready for them to." She stood up right brushing her long purple hair from her face.
"Humanity needs to do this. Not just for our own sake, but the sake of every other species in the Citadel Space. Saren must be stopped, and I promise you all… We will stop him!" She finished with a deep sigh clenching her small fist against her chest, her eyes down cast.
"Well said Commander the Captain would be proud" Joker said reaching out to tap the Commander's arm lightly trying to cheer her up.
"I won't let him down Joker, Get us out of here Joker" Maiyu answer placing her hand over his for a second thankful of his efforts before turning to leave. Her face set in a determined expression as she crossed though the deck to heard for her quarters. Right now she just wanted to be alone with her thoughts, she turned the corner avoiding eye contact with Kaiden and Tsubasa who had been relaxing on the crew deck with some well earn meals. As she stepped through the doors letting them slam shut behind her. Setting the lock to stop entry she slowly slid down the door holding her head in her hands as she stared at the floor. All the emotions she had be holding back the last few hours hitting her like a tidal wave.
"I won't give up until you are done Saren… That I promise you… One way or another I will end you…" She muttered to herself small clear tears streaming down her freckled cheeks.
