Alright, I know it's been... QUITE a while but I'm back with this story. I might as well finish it, before I forget about it again. Anyway here we go!
Character: This is speaking [This is thinking]
It took a few more days until the three guys woke up, but when they did is came a a sudden shock for their friends. A few hours later, they discoverd (or RE-discovered, if you will) that thye now were capable of doing some... "stuff." There was this one instance where Cole turned on a lightbulb just by touching it. Another example was this one time where they were taking a walk and Chris was somehow able to bend the branches of a nearby Tree outside the window. After a while the Kratts went with Cole and Zeke to take rafuge in one of the rooftops in the Neon District. They were able to make it work. Of course the sheer chaos that they went through was nothing compared with what's to come.
Day 14 of the Quarantine
It was around late afternoon in Empire City, Cole and the Kratts opened the building door that led to their rooftop to find Zeke sitting on the couch, reading an old comic book. Martin just went to a neary by spot and sat there on the floor crossing his legs. He closed his eyes for a couple of seconds and suddenly, water started to appear all around him, enclosing him in a watery sphere. Martin was known to do this whenever he needed to relax.
Chris: (About Martin) [Showoff] (To Zeke) I thought you were watching TV.
Zeke: Ah, the batteries are fried again. (Zeke had the rooftop rigged with car Bateries separated in three groups so that they would be used to power all theri stuff.) (Turns to Cole) Hey Cole, d'ya mind, putting on the freakshow?
Cole: Sure (Knowing what Zeke meant) Glad, my powers are good for something.
Zeke: And make sure you get all the batteries; TV's a hog.
While Cole went to charge the Batteries, Chris looked at the skyline around him... it had been heavily altered since what they are now calling, "The Blast." Most of the buildings were in ruins after the blast even a small number of them here in the Neon. He looked over to the distance and saw the now crooked skyscraper in the Historic District, and thought... how did that happen.
Zeke: Alright man! The old tube's working! (Referring to the Television sets which are now functioning properly, and showing classic cartoons.)
Chris: (Aloud) You know, I'm starting to wonder what exacly caused that blast...
Cole: Hm?
Chris: I mean, don't you guys want to know how we got our powers in the first place?
Martin: ... I'm with you on that Chris. (He dropped the water barrier and was now getting up off the floor.). I mean, I'm still kinda fuzzy about what happened that day. ... ... Hey, do you guys hear that?
The other's heard it as well, they started to look around. Of course once the noise got louder they looked up to the sky and saw a low-flying cargo place to the west, it was flying so low that it nearly touched the skyscrappers of the Neon, as soon as it was over the water though, it immediately began to pick up more altitude. Needless to say they were all shocked.
Zeke: Did you hguys just see that!? That thing was flying so low, I thought it was gonna hit us! (It took a few seconds for it to leave the Empire City Skyline but they saw it. Anyway, After a while the TV screen started to distort and go out of focus, then all of a sudden a logo appeared; it was a black skull with a red outline, underneath it was lettering that read, "V.O.S." out in plain white, also outlined in red. The guys knew it to be the Voice Of Survival, a sort of rebellious person who began to broadcast messages to the entire city the day after the Blast.) Hey it's the TV jacker! I love this guy!
VOS simply began speaking the moment he could, he wore a plain white T-shirt and a black hat, as well as a bandana and reflective sunglasses, most likely to hide his identity from him viewers. Anyway...
VOS: Just got word that the Feds dropped some relief packages into Archer Square, the liars at the corporate media tells us that we're gonna get our fair share, that more is coming, heh, that's easy for them to say! They're not the ones living in this hellhole! And truth is that we've been abandoned, and no one is coming to save us. So head over to Archer Square and get that food before the Reapers show up. Voice Of Survival, out. (Then the TV went back to showing cartoons, as if nothing happened.)
Martin: I told you guy's they'd drop more food.
Zeke: Aw come on man, d'ya think any of those pencil-necks in government give a crap about us? This is a PR Stunt.
Cole: That still isn't gonna stop you from pigging out isn't it?
Zeke: Hell no man! Zeke's gotta eat! Anyway, let's head over there!
Cole: Alright you take the stairs (Looks at the edge of the rooftop), I'm gonna take the express elevator.
Cole then proceeded to jump off the building. Now normally a guy would be dead after jumping a four story drop. But Cole was different. When he hit the ground, he landed as if he merely jumped four feet. The Kratts were the able to do the same, but they chose to go down the stairs with Zeke. They were eventually all on ground level, on the sidewalk next to the building.
Chris: Okay, THAT never ceases to amaze me!
Zeke: I know right? Anyway, we gotta to go somewhere before we head over to Archer Square, I need to pick up a new six shooter at a nearby drop-off point.
Cole: Here we go... (They began walking over to the drop-off point.)
Zeke: Nah the whole thing was pretty funny. The second you touched it, the electricity in your hands cooks off the gun powder, and the whole thing goes KA-BAM! The look on your face was priceless.
Cole: Damn near blew my hand off.
Zeke: Which is why you wont be touching the new one! Traded this guy one of my home-made batteries for it.
Martin: You mean the ones that explode when you use them?
Zeke: Hell, he doesn't need to know that. *Chuckles to himself* Anyway, we're here (he looks at the nearby cars in the area.) Aw come on! He tole me he was gonna leave the gun under a car, figured there would be only one.
Cole: Stay back for a sec, I got an idea.
Cole then walked up to the row of parked cars. He starts to focus... electricity starts to form around his hands... ... He looks to the cars in from of them... He pushes out his hands in the directions of the cars and immediately, a large shockwave appeared in from of him, knocking all four of the cars out of the way. In the parking space where the fourth car (the one farthest from Cole) used to be, was the gun Zeke ordered.
Zeke: (as he picked up the gun) Whoa! I didn't know you could do that...
Cole: Me neither... there was this surge... (Cole didn't look that well... he looked... weak. Drained even.)
Chris: (The Kratts took notice of this) Hey Cole, you okay? You don't look so good.
Cole: Drained all of a sudden... hang on a sec.
Cole was walking, somewhat instinctively towards a nearby power box. He held his hand out and in a few splitseconds, electricity started flowing out of the machine, and into Cole's body... almost immediately, Cole felt better.
Cole: Whoa... Did you guys just see that!?
Zeke: Man, you are a walking battery!
Martin: Yeah! It's pretty awesome! I guess you'll need to recharge whenever you overuse your powers like that.
Cole: Yeah... I can feel the electricity surging through me... almost like I'm being healed by it.
Zeke: Aw man, this rocks so hard! C'mon, let's head over to Archar Square 'fore someone takes the stash.
As they headed over to Archer Square, Cole recieved a call from Trish Dailey.
Trish is Cole's girlfriend who was trapped in the Empire City Quarantine just like everyone else. She runs small clinic in the Neon helping out those who need medical aid.
Trish: Cole. Are you there?
Cole: Hey babe.
Trish: You hear they dropped some food?
Cole: Yeah, the guys and I are heading over there.
Trish: How are you feeling.
Cole: Alright I guess... Powers are all over the place; used to be I could barely power a light bulb. Now, I'm jumping off of buildings and frying the junk on Zeke's roof.
Trish: (With concern) You jumped off a building? What were you thinking!?
Cole: Relax. I'm fine. And I have my friends to back me up in case something goes wrong.
Trish: Alright, just... take it easy. After what happened to Amy, I couldn't...
Cole: Yeah... (he shared Trish's pain over her sister's death).
Trish: See you guys at Archer Square. Love you.
Cole: You too... (End Call)
Author's Note: Okay so how was that? What did you guys think? Don't worry the action will take place the next chapter. So don't worry about that. Anyway, I must once again apologize for not updating for so long. I hope this makes up for it. Anyway, read, review, and all that good stuff. Peace!
