Ch17: Alphas

. Brandy wrapped his arms around me whispering a quiet "thank you" with so much emotion it made me want to cry. Stepping out of the embrace I put my hand on his cheek saying "your welcome, honey." Back making him tear up as he smiled at me.

We were interrupted when we heard cars rolling up the drive way.

The elders were here.

And now:

JPOV:

I stood as I heard their approach, wheels grinding stone up the twisting road, I walked over to Bella my fingers intertwining with hers as we stepped forward, the rest of our family falling in behind us.

We created an arrowhead formation, me and Bells in front flanked by Bree and Eliza, followed by their mates, then Peter and Char, Angela and Paul, Eric and Collin, last being Brady and Jessica.

We showed an intimidating front, fourteen large and powerful members.

Three large trucks pulled up stopping a few yards in front of us. There were a few shifters that hopped out of the beds, five in total. Then came the elders, Billy Black, harry Clearwater, Sue Clearwater, Quil Call Sr., and Sam Uley, Emily at his side looking very pregnant I would hazard the guess of six months maybe seven. Sam stepped up to lead everyone the elders behind him and the five other shifters falling back protecting the elders.

I felt Bella draw her hand away from mine taking a step towards Sam who held out his hand, Bella took his forearm grasping it as they shook obvious respect going both ways, from an old alpha to a powerful one and the other way around.

It was obvious that while Bella didn't have respect anymore for Jacob she did still have some for Sam, probably due to him being in charge for so long.

When they broke apart Bella turned and half faced us introducing each of our pack members to the Quileute's. When she was done Sam introduced their pack, pointing to each, William Crow, Daniel Fisher, Greg Hunt, Simon Heine, and Steve Maize.

After introductions were made Sam go straight to questions. "So what made you want to call a council meeting?" he asked genuinely curious. At this Bella gestured for the council to follow her around the house, to where Jacob was still unconscious on the lawn his wounds almost completely healed.

"What happened?" Sam asked looking at Jacob closely examining the wounds before straightening up looking to Bella for an answer.

"I taught him a lesson." She replied coolly.

"What lesson?" Sam asked

"Not to mess with an imprint or one of my pack members. Oh and not to cheat by attacking someone with their back turned. Then there was the whole experiments stuff too." She rattled off count on her fingers.

Sam nodded his head then froze "experiments?" he asked anger and curiosity flaring but not with Bella with Jacob.

"Yes that is the primary reason for this meeting. Apparently Jacob has been working with Carlisle Cullen and has done experiments on humans including the use of shifter DNA and vampire venom creating what you see in some of my pack, Vampire shifters. Though not everyone is a wolf like you there are other animals in my pack including, tigers, lions and birds. There are actually a few more we recently found out about who we are going to set free when we are done here." She asked ready to get this over with.

"The doctor leech?! I thought he hated the leeches! Sorry at least the doctor one! So is everyone ok, I mean relatively ok after what they have been through? And why have some of our shifters joined your pack?" he asked hurriedly throwing out the questions on his mind.

"Apparently he has been lying for a very long time according to Quil and Embry. Yes everyone is fine at least since they've joined the pack and as for the shifters from your pack they joined because they wanted to get away from Jacob and many of them have found their imprints in our group. They asked I said yes simple as that." Sam nodded excepting the explanation before kneeling closer to Jacob looking at his wounds.

"You did a number on him Bells, I don't think he will be able to see out of his right eye anymore, not to mention the scars he will have to live with the rest of his life, although I think the humiliation will do him good for what he has done, even after his sworn promise to protect humans… How did I not see this?" he whispered the degraded himself.

I finally spoke up walking calmly over to Bella taking her hand in mine. "You weren't the only one, now can we trust you to take care of the problem? We have others to set free and check on, they should be ending the transition soon we need to get a move on. But I want to make sure you take care of the brat." I sneer pointing to Jacob.

"Don't worry we will take care of him, you go free the others, I will let you know what becomes of him, for now he will be stripped of his wolf and alpha status. Don't worry I will be taking over alpha again until someone shows some promise. I also want to make an alliance with your pack if you would accept?" he asked reaching out a hand to Bella again. She stayed silent for a while before grabbing his forearm again shaking firmly

"I would be honored Sam Uley, Alpha of the quilitetes" She said simply

"Please the Honor is mine Bella Swan, alpha of the...what is your pack name? "He asked realizing he didn't have our name.

"We don't really have a name… I guess just call us The Pack for now." Bella replied grinning.

"Ok then, Bella Swan, Alpha of The Pack." Sam replied cheekily, "now go get the others free them we will help you if you need it. Where will you go afterwards?" he asked almost as an afterthought.

"We will fill you in after we get the two others we know about then we will figure the rest out, thank you for your help Sam." I said shaking his hand.

He nodded then motioned for two of his pack to pick up Jacob and put him in the bed of a truck. "Safe travels my friends and good luck in your mission." He said with a wave and they left, leaving the 14 of us alone.

I turned to the rest of my family looking at each of them before looking to Bella for orders.

"Alright everyone let's get this show on the road." She said walking into the Cullen house to get supplies.

BPOV:

I walked into the house, grabbing a few things that we might need, clothes, medical supplies, food etc. I walked back out with a few backpacks and satchel bags. I handed them out for everyone accept for Bree and Eric, they would be flying and couldn't carry them. I handed Jasper, Peter and Char each a satchel bag explaining my idea to them. "The Puppies won't be able to keep up with us so you will have to carry them in these, be careful not to jostle them too badly, Niki can keep up if we don't go too fast." They nodded in understanding, Jasper picking up Raven and Red since they were the smallest and could fit together, Peter picked up King and Char picked up Thor.

"alright everyone I want everyone to shift, Angela will be in the front tracking, everyone else can file in behind her, Peter, Jasper, and Char have to stay in the middle with Niki, we can't leave her behind, Eliza and I will take up the rear, Bree and Eric you can fly ahead of us looking for danger just don't go too far off ok?" I asked looking everyone in the eyes getting nods and yeses in return. "Alright then let's go." I said running into the forest to strip and phase. Everyone followed my lead. When everyone shifted and got in place we took off Ang in the lead, leading us north.

It took us longer than I expected nearing 30 minutes, but when we finally got there I could hear growling and whimpering coming from the cabin. I ran in phasing as I went changing quickly before following the sounds to the basement. As I went down the growls increased warning me to stay away. "I am not here to hurt you, I just want to help will you allow me to enter?" I asked at the door at the bottom of the stairs.

The growling stopped then, and I heard a voice, low through the wood, "come in" a female's voice spoke. I reached for the door knob that was meant to be vampire proof. I twisted it easily breaking the lock, then pushed open the door.

What I found was heart breaking, I girl maybe 18 stood crouching in front of a little girl no older than 15 who was strapped to a lab table whimpering in pain, the older of the two let out a warning growl as I stepped closer to them. I put my hands up in submission. "I just want to help please, can I check over her see how long she has?" I asked looking into the bright blue eyes of the girl. She didn't looked convince and eyed me sucpious. "Who are you? How did you find us? And why should I trust you?" she asked not relaxing.

"My name is Bella Swan, I am Alpha to the others upstairs, and we were told you were here when we tortured a Jacob Black to get answers and more information. As for trusting well, let's just say I went through something similar." I said flashing my silver eyes at her. She eyed me for a while before nodding.

I stepped forward towards the girl on the table "what is your name? And hers? Do you know what you are?" I asked looking at the girl on the table.

"I am Alex and that is my little sister Molly. No I don't know what I am I woke up about 3 hours ago, she hasn't yet. What happened to us?" she asked from the other side of the table almost pleading for answers.

I looked up from my examination of Molly, meeting Alex's eyes. "I don't know everything that happened to you but judging by the marks and the smell, I would say Jacob Black did this to you two, he was the Alpha of a small pack of shifters in Washington, that is until I stepped in stopping him. He was working with a Vampire, Dr. Carlisle Cullen, doing experiments for the Kings of vampires, making a new species just for fun. Any way I killed the doctor a few days ago when I was rescued along with my daughters Eliza and Bree. We have been rescuing the rest of the experiments and we ended up here, for you guys." I said ignoring part of her question.

"But what are we?" she asked again. I let out a sigh.

"Judging by your eye color I would say you are like the majority of my pack, Vampire- shifter. I don't know what your sister is yet but I would hazard the guess of being the same." I explained looking at her.

She nodded silently stroking her sister's hair. "You said most of your pack what of the others, what do we shift into?" she asked again.

"Well I don't know what you will shift into yet, there isn't a way of telling until you do shift, but we can figure that out later. As for my pack there are 14 of us, three are Vampire who helped me and my daughters escape in the first place, five of them are from the Lapush pack, meaning they are regular wolf shifters, they joined with us when they either found their mates or left Jacob's pack. Eliza, my daughter, is a wolf shifter-vampire. My other daughter, Bree, is an owl shifter-vampire. One is a tiger shifter-vampire, another a lion shifter-vampire, then there is a hawk shifter-vampire. Then we have a regular wolf, and her four puppies which from what I can tell are three parts wolf one part human. And I am an Alpha-werewolf-vampire. We are all kind of different." I said with a smile as I took in her gob smacked face. "Now then judging by what I know I would say your sister is going to wake up any minute now. I have to say this will be the worst part about the change, can I ask my mate to come down, he is a vampire but he can control emotions and ease the pain some keep her calm. Is that ok?" I ask. She thinks about it before nodding hesitantly.

"Ok, Jasper can you come down I need your help." I say only raising my voice slightly. I turn towards the door to see him standing there. "Peter says she will wake up in five minutes" he says to me before nodding towards Alex. "My name is Jasper, what's yours?" he asks stretching out his hand to Alex, she nods shyly taking his hand before mumbling out "Alex." Jasper gives her an easy smile and turns to me, "what can I help with Darlin'?"

I smile saying "could you lessen her pain for me, I want her to be calm when she wakes up." I explain to him. "He nods before focusing on Molly, who stops whimpering immediately. I smile at him as we wait.

A few minutes later Molly gasps opening her eyes showing a bright blue. She looks around confused until she sees Alex, "Allie?" she asked hesitantly. "Hey I'm right here Molly I won't let anything happen to you again ok?" she says smiling as tears roll down her cheeks. I quickly undo the straps holding her to the table. Molly doesn't notice me as she launches into Alex's arms crying.

I step back grabbing Jaspers hand in mine as I head for the stairs I say "we are going to leave you now to have some time to yourselves, come outside when you want we will be waiting." I smile as I turn around. A voice stops me "thank you, both of you." Alex says looking at us. We nod and head upstairs.
