The last chapter, wow guys.

For those of you who follow me on wattpad you would know from my updates that I had major writers block on this story. I just struggled to imagine anything and to type properly but every time I tried it was just awful. My use of language just fails during writers block. So I decided to wait until it was over instead of giving you guys 500 words of crap.

Anyway I hope you like the ending. I admit it not what I planned but I hope you enjoy it nether the less.

Anyway I hope you enjoy. I also made an evil within music video for the fanfic, although it's my first one and its pretty crap XD if you want to check it out it's here.

Collapse Of Wonderland

"And here is where the frontal lobe connects with the precentral gyrus." Ruvik explained as he pointed to a detailed diagram of a brain on a piece of paper. His student, Sparrow, sat on the cold tile floor with wide eyes as she took in everything he said.

"Although it is possible to live without the frontal lobe, you become a vegetable. No longer aware of your life or who you are, the frontal lobe is what makes you human and – sorry am I boring you?" Ruvik crossed is arms annoyingly as the girl before him gave a rather large yawn, although no sound came out of her mouth the big guff of wind afterwards had enough power to be a hair dryer had It been constant.

Sparrow's tired young eyes gazed apologetically up to him before she shrugged.

"I suppose it is pretty late. How was your treatment session today?" Ruvik asked as he got up from his desk and started sorting out the papers that were currently scattered around.

Sparrow shrugged again as she got up from off of the floor and walked over to his book shelf, inspecting all the titles as Ruvik cleaned up. She wondering if Ruvik had any books about human hormones.

During her treatment she had been put with a few others in a room to see how she would react with other patients with different disorders. Hoping to evoke Wren into making an appearance since it had been a long time since she had. Unfortunately one of the patients, Dennis, who had been diagnosed with Psychosis also had hypersexual disorder which led to him pining Sparrow to the nearest wall and continually grinding both their nether regions together until the doctors came in and tore him away from her.

Poor Sparrow had been left shaken and confused but was also curious as to why that man had done that.

Ruvik finished packing his papers away and turned his head to watch Sparrow look at his various books. She had certainly grown from the little girl that broke into his room all those years ago. She was 18 now but he knew she didn't know exactly when she turned 18.

He suspected that it was hard to know the date when you were a patient here, but he knew.

The thought also emerged that she was now of age where sex was legal and he was also aware that the doctors around the hospital knew this as well. It wasn't uncommon that the patients here were abused in such a way, mainly the young female ones when they were drugged for the day. He had also made it very clear to all the doctors that Sparrow was not to be touched.

"Happy Birthday." His hoarse voice appeared behind her, close enough that she could feel his breath brushing her left ear.

Sparrow slowly turned around and held her breath once she realised how close Ruvik actually was, his nose brushed against her own. Suddenly Sparrow's face broke out into a bright smile before she darted forward and hugged him around his middle. Her cheek pressed against his collar bone as she cuddled him, making him feel a little awkward. It reminded him of when she hugged him after he 'found' her teddy, she was all about actions and Ruvik actually liked that about her.

The tingling in the pit of her stomach started to grow until she felt like she was about to vomit bubbles, backing away she took his hand and inspected his scars like she usually did randomly.

"Your entire world is confined to this building and yet you're not angry or consumed with hate," Ruvik muttered as he watched her inspect his scars. He was in constant pain from the burns and her touch didn't exactly help but he only let her touch him for a reason even he wasn't aware of, "You're like Laura in that sense I guess."

"Help...Help!" Leslie's voice echoed from the same direction Sparrow had come from and both she and Sebastian's head's turned to the call for help. Leslie came through the arch in a hurry, panting from jogging awkwardly for so long.

"Leslie…" Sparrow muttered as Leslie jogged to hide behind her, she was a little cautious about him.

Suddenly Joseph and Kidman rounded the corner with both their guns pointing towards Leslie.

"Sebastian, get away from him!" Kidman orders with Joseph nodding in an attempt to encourage him, but Sebastian shook his head and aims his revolver right back at them and scoffs.

"Sebastian listen to me, Kidman told me everything and this boy. This boy needs to be killed!" Joseph shouted but Sebastian only looked at him in disbelief.

"Look I get it, Kidman's not just some rookie detective and these are not just some ordinary kids. But right now you're believing the woman who shot me over someone who you've known for years. Open your eyes Joseph! Cause right at this moment your beliefs are not enough reason for me to trust you!" Sebastian replied, Sparrow stepped backwards and attempted to shield Leslie from the fight.

"If you know who these kids are, if you know anything, then you know why they can't be allowed to live!" Kidman exclaimed which suddenly earner her a quizzical look off of Joseph.

"Wait I thought you said it was just Leslie," Joseph asked and Kidman nodded.

"I thought so too, but Sparrow wasn't brought here by accident like the both of you, were you Sparrow?" Kidman stated. Sparrow didn't reply but merely narrowed her eyes at the other woman.

"Bullshit! Its Ruvik, he's the once that…" Sebastian started but was interrupted when a high pitched ringing noise that seemed to affect everyone except Leslie and Kidman.

Sparrow clutched her head and scrunched her face in pain. As she struggled to keep her eyes open a sudden blur of yellow bits fluttered in the corner of her vision. She spun round, trying to follow the yellow blur and as the ringing died down her vision was able to focus a little. Swirling around her was a gathering of sunflower petals and before she could think of a reason why they would appear, the petals disappeared.

Suddenly she realised she was in a completely different environment. A gigantic brain stood on its spine where STEM used to be and clear liquid that was tinted yellow surrounded them.

"Sparrow," A hoarse whisper drifted past her ears. Turning round to the voice there stood Ruvik without his cloak or bandages, his scars on for show.

Sparrow froze, tears threatened to fall over her bottom lid. After everything they had been through she knew he wanted both of them out of the system, Ruvik couldn't leave without a vessel since he was nothing more than a brain in the real world and Sparrow, she couldn't leave without at least another soul inside her, another personality, or she would become a human vegetable in the real world. The only option was to let Ruvik possess her. Better her then Leslie.

"Me and my sister were extremely close," Ruvik started as he watched the 12 year old Sparrow draw a sunflower, "there wasn't anything I wouldn't do for her and I suppose she would do anything for me, well, did everything for me. I would give everything to have her back."

The young Sparrow stopped drawing and looked up to the bandaged man sat at his desk. Ruvik had described what Laura used to look like some point in time so she picked up a red crayon and started to draw her, the red was quickly replaced with black as she focused on her long flowing hair.

Once she was done she handed it to Ruvik who slowly took it from her and stared at it for a while before putting it aside and facing her, "Are you close with that albino boy Leslie?"

Sparrow nodded before smiling.

"Well, my relationship with my sister was a lot like yours is with Leslie, and nothing will replace that." Ruvik growled, Sparrows smile slowly faded as she backed away.

"No pathetic drawing with ever replace her!" He started yelling, "You'll never replace her!" He yelled again but it seemed like he was trying to convince himself more than her. Sparrow ran out of the room trembling with fear and Ruvik sat back down in his chair before putting a hand to his face.

He then picked up the drawing and continued to stare at it for some time before muttering, "Or maybe you can be her?"

"Become my vessel," Ruvik's voice brushed passed her ears even though he was standing a few feet in front of her. It seemed he was only communicating with her at this moment.

Sparrow looked nervously over to Kidman and Joseph who seemed to be awe struck with their surroundings, now would be a good time to make a break for Ruvik. It would be her only escape.

As soon as she spurred forward into a sprint everything seemed to move in slow motion, her bare foot splashed into the yellowy liquid but once the water splashed upwards it then started to float up into the sky, like backwards rain.

With another step she could hear the muffled voice of Kidman yelling for her to stop, the yellow blur of petals invaded her vision again as she turned her head she saw Kidman aiming her gun at her, Sebastian turned around but she kept sprinting forward. Ruvik was in within reach, just another step forward…

BANG!

The bullet zipped towards her and the second it touched her forehead she was suddenly completely on fire, as if the bullet was a match and she was covered in petrol. The slow motion around her stopped as she flailed around in pain.

"What was that?!" Sebastian yelled at Kidman who stood shocked at what she had caused.

"I don't know! I was only meant to stop her!" Kidman yelled back.

Sparrow recognised the pain, the same pain that she experienced when she stood in Laura's point of view. She could feel the fire starting to cook her skin and not even the water seemed to stop the fire from spreading to her feet. The petals came back and the pain started to die down, but the flames continued to dance wildly around her. Laura's face kept flashing in her mind before she started getting flashbacks of her short life in this hell hole as well as Laura's beautiful voice.

"Calm down Sparrow, the pain isn't real it's your imagination..."

Sparrow attempted to calm down but the pain felt so real, tears made clear pathways down her dirty cheeks.

"Do you remember the conversation we had? About how we are very much alike?"

Sparrow couldn't even think with the pain going on but images flashed through her mind, as if Laura forced her to think.

"We are very much alike, in the same way Leslie is very much like Ruben."

What are you trying to say? Sparrow thought, the pain had died down and as she looked around everyone froze, as if trapped in time. Even Ruvik.

"You can't exit this realm without a counterpart, your other half, and unfortunately for you she is dead."

Sparrow bowed her head down in guilt.

"What I'm offering is for me to be your counterpart, then we can leave this place and my dear Ruben can have his sister back as well as you, and you will be able to leave with Leslie."

Have Laura possess her body? Be her other half? Sparrow couldn't wrap her head around the idea.

But I thought you weren't actually Laura? And how are we compatible? Sparrow asked in her thoughts.

"You're right, I'm not. But I am enough in this world to form a physical apparition, if you become my vessel I'll be able to live in the real world through you. We are compatible because of your relationship with Leslie, it's the same as my relationship with Ruben and we relate in that sense, your transfixed obligation to protect Leslie is the same as my obligation to look out for Ruben," She explained. Suddenly she appeared before her in the middle everyone who was still frozen on the spot, "Please Sparrow, you'll still be able to live just how you are, but with me."

This was it, this was the only way Sparrow could escape this world and she supposed she should be grateful it's not anyone else.

"Ok," Sparrow said aloud and Laura smiled.

"When I become you, I will be able to protect you from now on, you have nothing to fear," Laura said before once again she started dissolving into sunflower petals, they swarmed around her and as they surged toward her chest time seemed to start going again.

"Sparrow!" Sebastian yelled as the petals swished forward and collided with her chest, the force sent her backwards and into the yellowy water.

"Why'd you shoot her?!" Joseph shouted at Kidman who looked bewildered.

"We can't let neither of them come into contact with Ruvik!" She yelled.

"Sparrow…" Ruvik muttered her name as he knelt by her and touched her forehead, with sudden realisation his eyes went wide with surprise and he quickly stood up in shock, "Laura?"

Suddenly Sparrow's eyes flung open and she got up and smiled at Kidman, ignoring Ruvik. She then started laughing like a maniac, her head tipping back before calming down and facing Ruvik.

"You need to get Leslie," She simply uttered before striding forward to Kidman and Joseph who quickly backed away.

"No!" Kidman yelled before unloading her gun at Sparrow who simply continued to laugh, with a motion of her hand towards them the gigantic clawed hands of reborn Laura popped out from the water and continued to draw back before popping up closer to them in a rapid motion.

"Leslie no!" She heard Sebastian yell behind her and didn't have to look to know Ruvik had gotten to him. Whilst Kidman was distracted by Sebastian's voice, Sparrow spawned Laura's hands to grab Joseph before dragging him beyond the water and through the floor.

"Joseph!" Kidman yelled before the clawed hands wrapped around her ankles and pulled her beyond as well but not before she shot at Sparrow one last time. As the bullet collided with her forehead once again, she was overwhelmed with flashback, like her life was flashing before her eyes.

The memories of her and Leslie when they were younger, playing with blocks or just running around. The day Leslie and she became friends. He looked so lost so … alone. She remembered how a lot of the staff thought they were too close, that they were too disturbed. Some people thought their relationship was borderline incestuous. But they didn't care, whatever their relationship was it was one of their business. They depended on each other and the opinions of others wouldn't stop how they act towards each other.

Ruben and Laura's memories invaded her mind at that moment, playing hide and seek around the house. Stopping their father from yelling at Ruben. Dancing in the field of sunflowers. Playing in the barn. Sparrow never realised how similar her relationship with Leslie was compared to Ruben's and Laura's.

The bullet bounced off and suddenly she was sitting upright in what seemed to be a bath tub, coughing up any water that she felt like she swallowed.

Looking around the room she noticed she was in the same room Jimenez brought her into right at the beginning, the same day her nightmare begin. Suddenly men dressed in white came rushing to her and started helping her sit up further in the tub.

"Can you move?" one of them asked.

She nodded before standing up and climbing out of the tub, all of a sudden to the left of her another person sat up straight and started coughing.

"Leslie," Sparrow recognised as more men in white went over to him, she saw Kidman climb out of the tub before she walked over to where Sebastian was, still stuck in the illusion, "Ruben…?"

Leslie's head spun towards her and he smiled before breaking away from the men and walking up to her, wrapping his arms around her. Instead of tucking his head under her chin he simply pressed his cheek to hers and caressed her short hair, "Birdy?" His voice was quiet.

"I'm here," Sparrow said before realising she was able to speak, but it wasn't the same voice she had in STEM. It sounded like Laura's, "Let's get out of here."

Leslie nodded in agreement but before they made a move they were stopped by the people in white.

"Wait, let them go," A woman with pale blonde hair and light blue dangly earrings said, authority clear in her voice.

"But Myra-."

"I said let them go, that's an order," She insisted.

"Yes Ma'am."

Just like that, they were left to leave. Sparrow grabbed Leslie's hand, who was walking normally and not in his awkward insecure way, and guided them throughout the hallways before ending up walking through the lobby and out the door, nobody was outside. As Sparrow went to tug Leslie forward he held his ground, making her turn back at him with a questioning look.

"Sparrow?" Leslie questioned and she nodded, "Laura?" he asked again.

Sparrow stared at him for a time before nodding and smiling gently, she wasn't sure what parts of her Laura possessed, but they were one person now. Her feelings toward Ruben were even stronger than before and this time she knew what they meant.

"Leslie?" Sparrow questioned, like she did with him. He nodded, "Ruben?"

Leslie nodded again before smiling, he reached a hand out and stroked her cheek. It was odd, they were both holding other souls inside them, it wasn't quite possession but it wasn't like they could choose what to do or how to feel. Sparrow's memories combined with Laura's in a way that she wasn't sure which were hers and which were Laura's anymore. She felt Laura's emotions yet they were her own at the same time. She hadn't become Laura, but she wasn't Sparrow anymore either.

"I love you Ruben," Sparrow admitted with a smile, Leslie smiled back before leaning forward and kissing Sparrow gently. It didn't feel like kissing Leslie at all, it felt like she was kissing the scared lips of her psychopathic friend and tutor.

"And I you, Sparrow," He replied as he backed away, "My sister."

"My brother." She replied.

"My birdy."

"My best friend."

It was weird, they both knew they both had another soul inside them, but they both saw them as one person. Sparrow wasn't Sparrow and Laura, she was both. She was Ruben's sister but Leslie's best friend and she loved Leslie as a brother and Ruben as a lover. It was the same in Leslie's point of view and although it was confusing they made sense of it.

Because although Sparrow loved Ruben and Leslie in different ways, Ruben and Leslie were now the same person and she understood that. Ruben also knew Sparrow and Laura are the same person yet he loves and obsesses over them differently. He feels Leslie's love as well as his own for Sparrow yet they were the same person.

"Let's leave this place," Sparrow said wearing the gentle smile of Laura. Leslie nodded before slipping his hand in hers.

As they both walked through the gates of the mental hospital, flashing blue and red lights started to show through the darkness and even a black van, but as they climbed out of their vehicles they completely ignored them and rushed towards the hospital.

Leslie smiled innocently at her as if not having the little bit of influence over the people around them but Sparrow knew he made them both invisible. It turns out some of the power he possessed in the other world came back with him.

Before they passed by an ambulance further down the road Sparrow stopped walking, making Leslie stop as well. Slowly she turned around to face the hospital, shocked and happy that she was going to start living her life away from the place she spent 20 years of her life in, from her position she saw the front doors open and Sebastian staggering out. She was happy he made it out, he had helped Wren in the short freedom she had.

Sebastian seemed to look straight at her from the entrance but she merely smiled before taking Leslie's hand and continuing to walk down the road. Sparrow was content. She had gotten to stay with Leslie her best friend and finally ended up figuring out her feelings thanks to Laura. Ruben had also accepted her and she understood him in a way she would have never imagined.

"Let's go birdy," Leslie muttered before gripping her hand tightly, she felt a fluttering around her as she let him take her wherever he wanted.

"Take me away from here… Ruben."

The end, I hope you liked the ending. I hope it both shocked and pleased you. Truth be told this wasn't the first ending I thought of, I had 2 alternate endings as well but chose this one in the end.

If people want me to write the alternate endings or an one chapter epilogue I'd be happy to but you'll have to support me maybe if I get at least 20 more reviews if you want it that badly. Otherwise the writer's block will probably take over again.

Anyway thank you for joining me in this journey, I never had a story do this well before so thanks! I hope you like what happened to Sparrow, bit of twist huh?

I'm sad this is over but the same time if this carried on the writers block would probably take over again.

I hope you enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed writing it, I don't think ill be doing the Alternate Universe fanfic I was on about earlier in the story, the writer's block will probably come back and I don't want to have to make you guys wait like 3 months for another chapter again.

Anyway, Sparrow thanks you for joining her in this story and I thank all the reviewers for their support. This has been quite a journey.
