Since I'm still getting reviews from guests on this story I thought I might leave a parting note to clear up any confusion.
First, to anyone asking for an update, this particular story is over. But there is a sequel started that is on hiatus at the moment and will be returned to, hopefully sometime soon.
To the guest who suggested Samson by Regina Spektor, it was a beautiful song and I enjoyed it. I may suggest it to other readers as well.
And to the reviewer called DoYourResearch, I am sorry for your friend but every case is different. In rare cases doctors have been known to turn to Chemo first, something I do know based on a teacher of mine's own personal experiences and obviously, for story purposes, Piper needed to be one of those rare cases. Of course I did not go into detail with said teacher so I apologize if that felt unrealistic.
As far as the tumor location, I did actually research the brain. I was under the impression, based on several diagrams and a few medical pages, that the motor cortex and the temporal lobe were actually very close to each other, so close in fact that I could have a tumor sit near what is called Broca's area and it would affect her movement as well as her ability to speak. However, if this research is wrong, I apologize. I'm not a doctor so I didn't know. Most of the medical discussions and tests have been left out because the nature of the show is that you focus more on the patients and who they are as people, away from their disease than the doctors and the disease itself, so there are a lot of medical procedures left out, such as the biopsy, which I did know usually happens before a doctor tells whether a tumor is cancerous or not.
I appreciate your concerns, which seem a bit personal based on what you've said, and I'm also sorry I could not just send you a message since you were under a guest review and I have no other way to reach you. Once again, I am sorry you found offense with my story and about the hardships your friend had to go through.
