Chapter NINE

Uchiha Sasuke.

Gaara clenched his fist, turning the boulder within his sand into rubble. He imagined the Uchiha in place of the now destroyed rock and smirked. He glanced up towards the sky. It was still night, but he could see the sun beginning to cast its light over the mountains. It would be dawn soon. He glanced around. Though he didn't need to sleep, Sakura needed to do so. She had been keeping him company for the past few days without sleeping, and he knew that even she would collapse without rest.

Said pinkette was sitting by his feet, picking up the bits of broken rocks and crushing it in her hands. Gaara placed a hand on her head and the girl immediately stopped. "We're going."

Sakura got to her feet. Gaara wrapped his arms around Sakura. His sand began moving, and they vanished in a whirl of sand.

Kabuto watched the last of the sand vanish. However, most of his attention had been on the pink haired girl.

Sakura...

Maybe, if he was lucky, he could take her back. There had been a time where she had listened to only him. He was sure that he could corrupt her mind to look only at him again.

The third part of the Exam was approaching. The Genin had been given a month to prepare, and only a week or so remained.

Shikamaru sighed, silently listening to Naruto blabbering on. He let his mind wander.

The healing chakra the pink haired girl had given them had been very effective. The head doctor, the Slug Sannin, Senju Tsunade herself had confirmed it.

Liquefying chakra took a huge amount of control, as well as chakra. Tsunade had seemed very impressed with it. She had even admitted that the liquefied chakra would be more effective on Lee, since it had been an emergency situation, and the Taijutsu specialist was now on the road to healing.

That brought Shikamaru back to the issue at hand.

Who exactly was this Sakura girl, and what was she doing with someone like Gaara?

He glanced up when he felt a malevolent chakra leaking out from somewhere. He noticed that it was coming from Lee's room. Judging from Naruto's silence, the blonde had noticed too.

The two quickly entered the room to find a wave of sand hovering over Lee's resting form. Gaara stood beside Lee's bed, Sakura standing a few feet behind him.

"Hey! What are you doing?" Naruto yelled.

Gaara slowly looked up and bared his teeth. The sand slowly lowered.

"Why are you trying to kill him? Your match is already over!"

Gaara let out a snarl. "I kill to exist." He said. "Anyone who stands in my way will be eliminated."

Naruto turned to Sakura. "Sakura-chan! Why aren't you stopping this guy? And I though that you were-"

Shikamaru grabbed the blonde's arm, stopping him mid-sentence. He already had a theory to the relationship between Gaara and Sakura, and he knew that anything they said could be reflected on the girl. From the way she acted, he guessed that this kind of treatment had been going on for a long time.

Gaara turned back to Lee, only to find that he couldn't move. Another shadow was attached to his.

"Kagemane..."

Sakura nodded. The pinkette had straightened, ready to fight. Shikamaru could tell, this girl was dangerous. "Would you like me to..."

"No." Gaara smirked.

Shikamaru and Naruto listened as Gaara told them about a demon called Shukaku. Shikamaru had a very vague theory as to how the boy and the demon were related, but he didn't say anything. Gai would probably arrive soon for his daily visits. He just needed to keep his jutsu up until then...

As if on cue, Gai appeared at the door, eyes glowing with anger. Shikamaru dropped his jutsu in relief.

Gaara let out a small growl of annoyance.

"Sakura." The pinkette was immediately back at Gaara's side. "We're going."

They were gone before anyone could blink, leaving behind only a wisp of sand.

"Will the first competitors come down please?"

Naruto and Neji made their way down to the arena.

Gaara narrowed his eyes at the blonde. He faintly noted that the Uchiha hadn't arrived yet. "Sakura." He murmured a few words into her ear, and the girl vanished.

"Begin!"

"I have to go now, or I'll be late!" Sasuke tapped his foot against the ground impatiently.

Kakashi offered him his eye smile. "Just wait."

Sasuke muttered something, then went back to practicing. Kakashi glanced up towards the trees, where a chakra signal had flared, then vanished. Since when had they been watching?

Gaara watched the battles go on with an impassive expression on his face. He listened to Kankuro forfeit. He growled when the Uchiha wasn't on time, only because the chance to kill him was pushed back.

He watched Temari...win. He wasn't sure she actually won. If it had been a real, serious fight, the Shikamaru boy would have won. Sakura had said so, and he would believe her.

And finally, the Uchiha had arrived. Sasuke looked up at him and smirked. Gaara felt a growl creeping up from deep within his throat.

He tugged Sakura towards him and buried his nose into her hair. "Be right back."

Sakura nodded. "Of course."

He nodded at his siblings, and ruffled Sakura's hair. "Get ready."

Gaara teleported himself with his sand, appearing opposite Sasuke. Kakashi had gone up to the stands.

"Begin!"

In Ame, Sakura got really close with the Ame kids.

Before death at Hanzo's hands, Konan made her promise that she would take care of Yahiko and Nagato. However, later on, they just forget about their friendship with her and just used her.

Sakura killed the Amekage (or Hanzo, some one in power) to save Nagato and Yahiko, who in turn took the 'blame' and became the new "Amekage".

Sakura feels lonely, and discarded, but still have to help them because of her promise to Konan.

Sakura was the one to 'invite' most of the Akatsuki.

Sakura is in Ame (Maybe she grew up there? We don't remember)

There was something about a cave...(We don't think it was very important, but just saying.)

There's an exam of sorts (Probably Chunin?) and while Konan, Yahiko and Nagato are participating, Sakura finds and recruits Zetsu into the Akatsuki.

When they (Sakura, Nagato, Yahiko and Konan) are captured by Hanzo, Konan dies instead of Yahiko. (Something about one female in the Akatsuki?)

Sorry for the late update. (Darque: Raven just had to go and get himself grounded for scoring 89. He's actually pretty smart, and his parents expect at least a 90, maybe a 95 from him...I think it's stupid, but that's just me.)

Darque: So, I did this thing called 'Work Experience', where I had to find a work placement and 'experience' a week of said work/job. Get it?

Raven: Darque went to this Art Studio place. Apparently, it was-

Darque: VERY BORING! The children there are like...arg! I wanted to help them draw everything.

Raven: Well, if there's one thing you're good at, it's drawing.
