Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts. Sorry.

I sighed as Sora continued to hum his random tune. We were back in the Gummi Ship, traveling to a world that was unknown. Sora seemed to have grown bored after only being in the ship for a total of twenty minutes. He leaned sideways in his seat, kicking his legs up into my lap, and staring at his nails as he hummed some song he was making up as he went along. It was a dreadful and off-key melody, but I wasn't going to tell him that. Especially after the small heart-to-heart that we had back in Atlantis. Ever since then, we'd been closer than usual and I wasn't going to ruin that by telling him that his singing was making me itchy.

My gray eyes glanced out of a window, sort of hoping to see something besides the purple, blue, and orange abyss of space that we've been staring at endlessly. There was nothing out there. Space was empty, yet, it was weird to think that the answers to everyone's problems could be somewhere located in that nothingness. That Riku and Kairi could be lurking in the darkest corners of this continuum. And perhaps they were out there. How long would it take us to find them? Would Sora be taller than Riku when that happened? Because we all know that Sora was just a growth spurt waiting to happen-

I was kicked out of my thoughts my Sora wiggling around his leg on my lap. I stared at him, confused as to why he was bothering my thoughts. He tilted his head to the side as if to say what's wrong. I shook my head at him, nothing's wrong. He raised his brown eyebrows, yeah, right. Shaking my head once more, I returned to looking out of the window. How stupid would I seem explaining to him that I was thinking about everything, even his impending growth spurt?

"Oh, another world is coming up," Donald announced from the driver's seat. We tried again this time. He swore to the King that he would never let either of us drive again. After last time, I wouldn't exactly blame him.

Sora lifted his feet from off of my lap to lean forward. We peeked our heads into the front. In front of the Gummi Ship was a giant jack o'lantern. Literally. This world was nothing but a carved pumpkin with a few creepy-looking building poking out of it. I could feel my throat run dry. Judging my the looks of it, this place could be the Heartless headquarters.

"We're landing," Donald said.

Sora stared at the duck in amazement. "On a pumpkin?"

"Yes."

"Um . . . okay, then." He didn't even object. That's how badly he wanted to get out of this ship. But, on the bright side, at least he had stopped humming. Sitting back in his seat properly, he put on his seatbelt to prepare for landing. I did the same. "This one should be interesting."

"Oh. . ." I chuckled. "I bet."

"This sure is a spooky place." Thankfully, Goofy was the first to admit it as we scoped out the area.

The sky was a red-orange, the street lights were jack o'lanterns, and the buildings, streets, and sidewalks were all a murky gray colour. Everything had a creepy aura about it. Even we had changed. Donald's normal wizard attire had been transformed into a rotting mummy. Goofy had been changed to a stitched up monster instead of a knight. Sora was some kind of bat/vampire with a pumpkin mask covering half of his face, small wings sticking out of his back, and fangs sticking out from where his canine teeth once sat. Even his hair had changed colours. No longer was it the soft chocolate colour, but a brown-black. My transformation was the most shocking to me, though. I was covered head-to-toe in short, thin, black hairs, my ears longer than they used to be and all of my teeth sharper than before. I was a werewolf now . . . great. Luckily, my necklace was still around my neck.

"I'll bet the people here are scary-lookin', too," Goofy added.

"We look spooky-looking, too," Donald reassured the dog. "If they scare us, we'll scare them right back! Especially Sasuke. She's furrier than us, now."

I shot the small duck glare, choosing not to start a pointless argument.

We walked further into the town to check it out. There was a fountain right in the middle that spit out acid instead of water. To the right was a giant guillotine. What did they need a guillotine for? Where they chopping off the heads of citizens? The thought sent chills up my spine. Maybe landing on this world was a bad choice. But, our sightseeing only lasted for so long. Six Heartless appeared in the town square, these shaped like ghost opposed to the usual ones. We summoned our weapons, but stopped when a voice broke through the silence.

"And now, allow me to introduce the master of terror, the king of nightmares-Jack Skellington!" someone shouted. The four of us turned to see a triangle shaped man standing on the side walk with a megaphone. His features looked fake, almost painted on. On his chest was a ribbon that said 'MAYOR.' So he was the mayor of this town?

The ghost Heartless did a little dance as a grand entrance before stepping aside to reveal a skeleton man coming out of the acid fountain. My jaw went slack. Was this real? As if on cue, the four of us exchanged glances as if to make sure that everyone was seeing this. They just made the Heartless dance for them. This was the Heartless headquarters.

The mayor ran over to the super tall skeleton man clad in a black and white striped suit. "Bravo, Jack! Bravo!" he cheered. "Those ghosts will make a big hit at this year's Halloween!"

The skeleton man, Jack Skellington, stepped off of the fountain to look down at the man. "Thank you, thank you. But their movement still needs work. I'ts not scary enough." Well, Jack didn't seem that bad. His voice sounded sweet and sincere despite the scariness of his appearance. "I want to strike bone-chilling terror. I'm going to consult the doctor." And with that, Jack walked off.

"Then I'll go attend to the decoration," the mayor before running off, too.

"Should we follow them?" I asked to break the confusing silence that had settled over Donald, Sora, Goofy, and me. They nodded and we followed Jack into the building he walked into. Hopefully there isn't another guillotine in here.

Inside was a lab of some sorts. There was a metal operating table in the middle of the room, which had one of the ghost Heartless lying on it. Beside the operating table stood Jack with a troubled look on his face. The black holes were his eyes should be gazed over the Heartless before he let out a loud sigh. "I don't understand," he started. "Maybe the guidance system was damaged in the explosion."

The man beside him spoke next. It was a small, bald man in a wheelchair wearing black goggles, black gloves, and a white lab coat. Surprisingly, he is what shocked me the most. "Nonsense," the small man said. "My devices are always perfect!"

Did . . . did they think that the Heartless was a robot?

"Oh, I've got it! Why, of course! The Heartless need a heart!" Jack pointed out, confirming my suspicions. Okay, they didn't know a thing about these creatures. Maybe this wasn't the Heartless headquarters. "Doctor, do you think we can add a heart to that device?"

"Certainly. A heart's not all that complicated. Let's get to work."

"To make a heart," Jack began reading off from the book in his hand. "first take a container with a lock . . ."

"I've got one already. But, we need a key to this thing first!" The doctor placed a heart shaped item on the operating table. It was gray and was beating. It was actually shaped like a heart. But, the most prominent thing about it was the giant Kingdom Key shaped Keyhole on the front.

Sora stepped forward, only stopping when I placed a hand on his shoulder. I knew what he was thinking. I just wanted to make sure. "Are you sure you want to open that for them?"

"Why not?" He shrugged, turning to look at me. "If they succeed, we won't have to fight the Heartless, right? Besides, I want to see the Heartless dance, too. Don't you, Sasuke?"

I shook my head. "Not really, Sora . . ."

He didn't listen to me, though. He stepped forward, making himself known to the two men in the lab. They stared at him with wide eyes, surprised that we were in here. Jack, especially, opened his mouth to speak, but Sora cut him off. "I have the key to the heart," he said, summoning the Kingdom Key. I just watched as they stepped aside and let him shove the key into the lock. With a click, it was open.

"My! That was amazing!" Jack grinned, then froze. "Uh, and you are . . ."

"Sora."

"Well done, Sora! I'd like you to be a part of this year's Halloween."

To completely change the subject, Sora pointed a claw to the operating table. It was during this time that Donald, Goofy, and I chose to step out of the shadows. "What's this Heartless doing here?" Sora asked Jack, his head having to tilt all the way up to look at the seven foot tall skeleton.

"Oh, the Heartless came to town just recently. What's frustrating is I can't get them to dance with me," Jack answered, flashing all of us a smile. "So the doctor and I are trying to improve the guidance system. He's quite a genius. Okay, Doctor, let's continue. The ingredients for a heart: pulse. Emotion."

"Terror," the doctor added. I shivered.

"Fear, hope, and despair. Mix them all together and we have a heart!"

Jack held out an arm, signalling for us to move aside. The man in a wheelchair wheeled over to a lever of some sorts. Pulling it, he watched as electric shocks were sent throughout the heart and the Heartless on the table. The Heartless sat up, jerking slightly as the currents rocketed through its core. For a second, I thought it would actually work. Would these guys be able to give the Heartless a heart? I glanced up at Sora to see his attention fully on the scene unfolding in front of us, a ghost of a smile appearing on his face. He was hoping that it worked out well, too.

Then, the electricity shut off and the Heartless flopped back down onto the operating table. Lifeless. "It failed!" the doctor yelled out. He clutched his head, shaking it in disbelief. Clearly this must have been one of the only times that his operations didn't work. He crossed his little arms and looked over the book that Jack was reading from earlier, clearing his throat before speaking, "Maybe we're missing some ingredients. Let's try adding memory."

He then opened his head and scratched his brain. My jaw fell open. Was this really happening? Sora glanced down at me, his eyebrows raised in shock, too.

"Sally! Sally!" the doctor called out, his head still open as if it were on hinges. When no one came, he frowned. "Sally! Good for nothing girl! Don't know why I bothered creating her!" I didn't know who Sally was, but I suddenly felt bad for her. Turning to Jack, the doctor continued, "Sally's got the memory we need. See if you can track her down."

Jack nodded. "No problem. Sora, would you and your friends like to come along?"

"Sure." Sora beamed.

"Before we head out, though . . ." Jack bent down on one knee to look down at me. Those hollow eye holes stared straight into mine and I found myself frozen. "What is your name, little lady?"

"Sa . . . Sa . . ."

"Sasa?"

"That's Sasuke, Donald, and Goofy," Sora explained. As Jack stood up, the brunet placed a hand on my shoulder, shaking his head. "Halloween just makes her a little nervous, is all. Especially guillotines."

Jack's expression looked as if someone had punched him in the gut. "You're afraid of Halloween?" he gasped. I simply bit my bottom lip. I wouldn't say that I was afraid of Halloween, I'd just prefer not to deal with it. Ever. "We have to fix that, Sasuke! Halloween is nothing to be afraid of . . . you know, except for everything about it." Laughing maniacally, he grabbed my hand and led me to the lab exit. It took a lot to catch up with his long legs, causing me to trip every now and then. Sora, Donald, and Goofy just followed along chuckling.

However, we stopped when we heard the familiar voice of the mayor and his megaphone. "Jack! Jack!" he cried. His face was no longer rosy and painted on, but a pale gray and sad-looking. "We have a major crisis! The Heartless are completely out of control! We can't stop them!"

Jack sighed, walking down the steps to talk to the mayor. "Hmm . . . Maybe our experiment triggered something. Everything will be fine, Mayor. You have nothing to worry about."

Just as he said that, Heartless spawned in the town square. No words were said as the four of us got into our regular routine, summoning our Keyblades and running into battle. Sora ran in head-first, swinging his Keyblade like his life depended on it. I attacked one of those ghost Heartless, only for it to disappear after the first hit. Goofy noticed it, too, watching as they all faded away after being struck one time. There was no point in fighting them. They all just . . . left.

"I don't understand . . ." Sora breathed, looking around the town square in confusion. Two minutes ago, it was filled with Heartless. Now, it was completely empty, leaving us to question what had just happened. "Did they just . . . leave?"

"Well, there's no use dwelling on it. We have to find Sally," Jack said. Taking long strides, he led us to a gate at the far end of the town square. "This is the graveyard. Let's check this place, too."

"There's a graveyard next to the town square. Okay." Donald shrugged.

I shook my head, only to freeze when a ghost began to come out of one of the graves. Taking two giant steps behind Goofy, I hoped that what I was seeing was a fragment of my imagination. Except . . . everything else hadn't been, so why would this be? The ghost was shaped like a dog. Its long, white ears blew in the wind, its nose a red light, and its body blowing like a white blanket. Was it a ghost dog?

Jack stepped forward, patting the ghost on its head. It barked in return. "Zero! Have you seen Sally anywhere?"

The dog barked and flew around the graveyard twice before diving behind one of the tombstones. A second later, a woman stood up. Her pale blue body was held together by stitches, her dress was merely pieces of different fabrics sewn together, and her dark red hair cascaded down her back in deep waves. This was Sally. She was gorgeous. Because of everything else here, I was expecting her to be some type of guillotine monster. In fact, she was just the opposite.

"Is there something wrong, Jack?" Her voice was light and airy as she faced the tall skeleton man.

Jack shook his head . . . skull. "No, everything's going great," he reassured Sally. She smiled, the stitches in her face pulling a bit. "We're going to have the best Halloween ever. All we need now is your memory."

"Memory? You mean this?" She held up a withering flower in her hand and Jack nodded. When they said 'memory,' I thought they were talking about actual memories, not the forget-me-not flower. Jack politely took it from her, examining the flower to double check that it was right. "Jack, I have a bad feeling about this. Why don't you try something else? There's still time."

"Nothing could beat what I've got planned! Once we give the Heartless a heart, they'll dance just as I envision it. Trust me, you're going to love it." Jack tried to tell her that everything would be alright, but she still held a grim expression on her face. Like she knew everything was going to go wrong.

Sally didn't say anything else. She just watched us. Watched as we waved her goodbye and exited the graveyard. Though, there was a sense of honesty in her words. You could feel that she didn't like this plan. We just didn't know what she didn't like about it. Did she not like the idea of the Heartless dancing with Jack, or did she not like the idea of interacting with the Heartless at all? One thing was for sure, though. Jack didn't stay to ask questions, leading us back to the town square and through the doors of the doctor's lab.

Jack pushed open the door, stepping aside so that we could entre before he did. Closing the door behind him and walking in, he passed the withered flower to the doctor. "Sally gave this to us," he explained. "Is this is?"

The doctor reached out to take the plant out of Jack's bony hands. "Yes. This is it. Now, just one more ingredient. We need "surprise" to complete the heart. The mayor should know where it is." We nodded, aware that we were going ot have to track down the triangle-shaped man.

3rd Person P.O.V.

Oogy Boogie let out a loud, obnoxious laugh. These kids were lying. He had sent them out to spy on the Keyblade bearer, that unknown girl, and his friends, and they had came back telling him this information. There was no way that Jack Skellington and that idiot doctor friend of his were trying to put a heart inside of the Heartless. Why do they think they are called Heartless. The creatures were without a pulse and no medical attention could fix that. The fact that they were even trying was enough to make Oogy's seams shake.

"A heart?" He laughed once more. "That bonehead Jack is really making a heart? I'll be jiggered! That works for me! Ohh, when I get my hands on that . . . Well, I've got no hands, but I'm still going to nab that heart and control the Heartless."

Yay, The Nightmare Before Christmas! I think out of all of the worlds, this was the one that I was most excited for. And just in time for the Halloween season . . . even though Halloween was two days ago. Great timing, right?
