When they landed, all they could see was water.

Donald had tracked down the source of the evil, bringing them here. Sora was expecting some kind of post-apocalyptic world. This was definitely close to one. He took a few steps forward. He, Donald, and Goofy were standing on a rock, surrounded by purple-coloured water and other rocks. This world lacked creativity. But then again, it was where all the Heartless were coming from, apparently. He took a deep breath to prepare himself. Anything could happen here. The end could happen here. Just one screw up and everything could be ruined. He let out that breath. No pressure.

Goofy stepped forward, too. His big, black eyes scanned the area, seeing nothing but endless water and rocks. "Gawrsh," he started, swallowing the lump in his throat. "Is that all that's left of the worlds taken by the Heartless?"

So all of these little rocks were once worlds? Sora looked down at his feet. He was standing on the remains of someone's homes. The remains of someone's loved ones and comfort. It made his stomach uneasy. He knew that it was a little late for this, but all of this responsibility was finally beginning to get to him. "Those worlds will be restored if we beat Ansem, right?" he asked, hoping for a yes. Donald nodded. "But, if we do beat him and all these worlds become restored and disconnected, what's going to happen to this place? And to us?"

"Well, uh . . ." Donald thought he knew the answer, but he trailed off, looking down at his feet.

Goofy shrugged his shoulders. "This is a Heartless world, so maybe it'll just disappear." Sora and Donald turned to look up at him with wide eyes. "But no worries," the dog continued. "Even if this place goes poof, our hearts ain't goin' nowhere. I'm sure we'll find our pals again. Yup, I just know that we will!"

Sora slowly nodded. "Yeah, you're right."

He placed a foot in the water, watching as it didn't go through. He could walk on water. He wasted no time dwelling on that impossible fact. Instead, he ran, Donald and Goofy at his heels. This could be it. That was the only thing playing in his mind right now. This could be it. This could be the end of it all. This could be it. That became evident in the fact that, after running on water for three minutes, they saw a door. It wasn't an ordinary door. It was like the doors that Sora saw in his dreams back at Destiny Islands.

He slowly turned his running into a jog, walking closer to the door with caution. Anything can happen.

"Should we open it?" Goofy asked hesitantly. Donald gave him a look and the dog nodded. "Wait . . . We have no other choice. Got it."

Sora shook his head, reaching for the door handles. He stopped, though, when he heard something strange. It was like a voice, but it wasn't his, Donald, or Goofy's. It came out of nowhere. "Huh?" he asked, more to himself than to anyone else.

Donald looked up at him in confusion. "What's wrong?"

"Don't you hear something?" Sora asked. The voice said something else, and the boy jumped from shock. "There!"

"Careful. This is the last haven you'll find here. Beyond, there's no light to protect you. But don't be afraid. Your heart is the mightiest weapon of all. Remember, you are the one who will open the door to the light . . ."

Donald scratched his head. "I don't hear anything," he mumbled.

Sora was getting major deja vu. It was as if he knew that voice. Which was impossible seeing as how he'd never heard it before. "Strange . . ." he whispered, looking around for the source of the voice. "That voice was so familiar. Maybe it's just my imagination."

"Maybe you'd better take a nap," Donald teased.

Sora ignored him, pulling the door handles and opening the double doors. A bright, white light shined through. Covering their eyes, the three boys walked in. They didn't know what to expect on the other side of this door. But, when they stepped through, Sora could feel his knees go weak.

It was Destiny Islands.

The waves, the sand, the wooden buildings, the swaying palm trees, everything was the same. The sky was a crystal blue. He could almost hear the sound of Waka and Tidus playing blitz ball. He could hear the soothing crunch of the golden sand underneath his shoes. This was all too surreal. Even the seagulls were making noise and the wind was blowing. This was too much like his island.

"Is this . . ." Sora started. He knew that it most likely wouldn't be, but he didn't want to rule out all possibilities. "Is this my island?"

There was only one thing the real island would have. He turned around, marching through the sand to get to the secret hole in the rock. The secret place. Everything had started there. That's the first place he and Sasuke had met someone from a different world. That's the place that Kairi was taken from them. That's the place they grew up playing in for so many years. It seemed like so long ago when he was carving drawings in the cave walls. Part of him hoped that his drawing was in there, the one he never got to show people.

But, as soon as he got close to it, a voice cut him off. "This world has been connected," it had said. Sora froze in place. Slowly, parts of the island began disappearing. It was like it was never there in the first place. "Tied to the darkness . . . so to be completely eclipsed. There's so much to learn. You understand so little." They turned around to see the ocean water turn purple. What was happening? "A meaningless effort. One who knows nothing can understand nothing."

With a blink of an eye, Destiny Islands became distorted. The sand was broken up into broken up pieces of floating land. The bridges were crumbling. It looked utterly destroyed. Standing on a piece of the floating sand was Riku dressed in his Heartless suit. Sora ran forward, hoping it was the real one instead of the fake one. However, when he began to speak again, he knew that it was Ansem.

"Take a look at this tiny place," he continued. "To the heart seeking freedom this island is a prison surrounded by water. And so this boy sought to escape from his prison. He sought a way to cross over into other worlds. And he opened his heart to darkness."

Riku turned around, his image fading into Ansem's true self. His long, gray hair blew behind him as he chuckled.

"Don't bother calling out to your friend. Your voice can no longer reach him where he is. His heart belongs again to the darkness. All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it, grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came," Ansem explained. Sora turned around, jumping back when he seen that the man had teleported behind him. "You see, darkness is the heart's true essence."

"That's not true!" Sora shouted. "The heart may be weak. And sometimes it may even give in. But I've learned that deep down, there's a light that never goes out!"

Ansem crossed his arms. Using his powers, he began floating above them, giving Sora an unimpressed expression. "So, you have come this far and still you understand nothing. Every light must fade, every heart must return to darkness!" He smiled, summoning a big Heartless behind him.

Sora, Donald, and Goofy called upon their weapons, charging into battle. Sora jumped in the air to attack him, only getting three hits in before the Heartless swooped in to shield Ansem. Their hits were reflected. It was no use. When the Heartless left, Sora went back to attacking Ansem. But, the Heartless came back, throwing balls of darkness at them. Sora dodged them, only barely scraping his arm. He could hear the electricity buzzing around in them. It would be best to not get hit by that.

Donald and Goofy went to attack the Heartless while Sora went for Ansem. The Heartless was distracted. He could swing at Ansem all that he wanted. He went for a combo, a long chain of attacks, before the Heartless appeared behind him. It grabbed him by the arms, pulling him up into the air and holding him hostage. Sora struggled but there was no use. The Heartless was stronger. Donald used thunder to shock it. The Heartless jerked from the shocks, dropping Sora. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he brought his Keyblade down upon Ansem as hard as he possibly could. The man fell back.

Ansem rose even higher in the sky. The ground began to shake, the trees and sand pulling apart. The island was ripped in half, revealing a hole that Ansem had fled to. Sora ran after him, jumping through the hole without a second though. But, when Donald and Goofy tried to follow him, they were launched backwards. Something wouldn't let them come in. Sora was on his own. When he landed in the hole, the ground started shaking again, a Heartless the size of a skyscraper rising from the ground. It was all black, human-shaped, buff, and had a hole the shape of a heart in the middle of his chest. Sora could have sworn he fought something like this before.

The Heartless leaned down. His fist went into the ground, a cloud of darkness surrounding it. Sora took this time to attack. He swung his Keyblade left and right in search of the monster's weak spot. Pulling his fist out of the ground, the monster retrieved a sizzling ball of darkness and held it in his hands. This didn't look too good. It threw the ball into the air, sending a rain storm of darkness falling from the sky. Sora dodged it and kept swinging. The Heartless wasn't as strong as he thought. After a few more hits, it cried out, crashing on the ground.

Ansem appeared with his Heartless guardian after that. Without giving Sora time to think about what had just happened, the Heartless charged at him. Sora rolled out of the way. Clapping his hands together, the Heartless sent a row of lighting his way. It was way stronger than before. Sora jumped, attacking Ansem as much as he could before the Heartless interrupted him. It was only a matter of seconds before the monster came, shielding Ansem from the teenager's blows.

After a few more rounds of Hit and Dodge, a blinding light took over. He closed his eyes so that it wouldn't hurt. When he opened them again, Donald and Goofy were by his side, and they were floating in nothing but gray smoke. In the corner of the smokey nothingness, there were twenty foot tall, white double doors. What was that?

"Behold the endless abyss!" It was Ansem's voice that had spoke. Sora looked around for him, but there were no traces of the man. "Within it lies the heart of all worlds: Kingdom Hearts!" So those doors . . . that was Kingdom Hearts? "Look as hard as you are able. You'll not find even the smallest glimmer of light. From those dark depths are all hearts born. Even yours."

As if out of thin air, a giant spaceship-like Heartless appeared in front of them. Sora gasped. It was about thirty times the size of him. Stationed at the top of the ship was a bigger version of his previous Heartless and Ansem.

"Darkness conquers all worlds!" he shouted.

Just like that, they had lost their ability to float. Sora fell straight down while Donald and Goofy went through a black hole. Sora continued to fall. He didn't know how to not. What was at the bottom? Was there even a bottom to this place? He took a deep breath as the wind blew past him. This was all happening so fast. He didn't know how he was going to get out of this one.

"Giving up already? Come on, Sora. I thought you were stronger than that."

He heard it. He heard the sound of Riku and Sasuke's voices, talking in his head at the same time. Pushing him. Encouraging him. He couldn't let them down. Regaining his strength, he began floating again. He rose up, summoning his Keyblade to fight. He had to do this for them. He had to defeat Ansem and save everyone's world.

He flew to Ansem sitting at the top of the ship. Without a second thought, he began attacking with all of his might. He was attached to the ship, unable to move as Sora hit him. Ansem raised his hand. Purple orbs of darkness surrounded Sora, shooting lasers at him. But, he didn't care. He just kept attacking through the burns. He could heal himself later.

Once Ansem was weak enough, he retreated inside of the Heartless. A black hole similar to the one that Donald and Goofy disappeared to appeared at the base of the ship. Would they be in there? Wanting to find out, Sora raced to it, not knowing what to expect. Inside, it was a dark room. Nothing could be seen except for the bright blue Heartless symbol on the ground. Small, twitchy Heartless began to spawn and Sora got to swinging. He was growing tired, but he wasn't going to stop. He couldn't stop. With two easy hits, the Heartless was gone, and he moved on to the next one.

They were finished in no time, leaving silence in there wake. Sora looked around the room, finding a crystal hanging by itself in the darkness. Lifting his Keyblade, he striked in, sending it shattering into a million little pieces. A light flashed and everything went white.

When he uncovered his eyes, he was back outside in the smokey abyss. Donald and Goofy were now at his side again. The Heartless ship was gone; the crystal must have been its energy source. Instead, Ansem was floating in front of them by himself, clutching onto his chest as if he were in pain. He looked weak and beaten down. Nonetheless, he began to speak.

"It is futile," he struggled to say. "The Keyblade alone cannot seal the door to darkness. Kingdom Hearts! Fill me with the power of darkness . . ."

The white doors opened to reveal black smoke coming out of it. Though, something wasn't making sense to Sora. Everyone had spoke of the doors as if they were a good thing. The voice had said he was the one who will open them. So, why would they want it open if Kingdom Hearts was darkness? That's when it clicked. Those doors were the exact opposite. They were meant to fix, not to break.

"You're wrong," Sora interrupted. "I know now, without a doubt. Kingdom Hearts is light!"

Bright rays of light shot out of the door, blinding the already weak Ansem. He groaned as he attempted to shield his eyes. Another burst of light shot throughout the smokey abyss. When it was gone, so was Ansem. It was over. Now they could close the door without a problem. They can finally end this. Rushing over to it, they slammed their hands onto them, pushing the doors as hard as they could. They weren't budging.

Goofy leaned over, poking his head through the doors to see what was on the other side. His breath hitched when he seen it. Donald, however, glared up at the dog. Now was not the time for foolery. "Stop staring and keep pushing!" he quacked. But, he leaned over to sneak a peek, too. His eyes went wide at the sight. Thousands upon thousands of Heartless were crawling to the door to escape. "The Heartless! Hurry!"

Sora slammed all of his body weight into the door. It wouldn't even move an inch. To make matters worse, his body was fatigued from his endless fighting with Ansem. "I can't . . ."

"Don't give up!" Sora froze, looking up at the gloved hand that had stuck out from the other side of the door. He instantly noticed the spiky silver hair and sea green eyes. It was Riku. The real one. The older boy sent him a determined smile, gripping onto the door. "Come on, Sora! Together, we can do it!"

Sora nodded. "Okay!"

But, after about ten seconds of pushing, Donald screamed with frustration. "It's hopeless!" He peeked inside again to see that the mob of Heartless had disappeared. In their place was a black mouse wearing red shorts. The duck gasped. "Your Majesty!"

The mouse held up a Keyblade similar to Sora's Key. Though, his was gold instead of Sora's silver one. "Now, Sora!" he shouted. "Let's close this door for good!"

"Close it, quick!" Donald yelled.

With them still inside? "But-"

"Don't worry," the king cut Sora off by saying. "There will always be a door to the light."

"Sora, you can trust King Mickey," Goofy added.

Sora knew that he could trust him. He just didn't want to leave them. They searched, they fought so hard to get those two back. Now they were locking them in with the Heartless. He didn't want to do it. He wanted to sit down and think of another way to do this. There had to.

But, Sasuke wouldn't. She would take risks . . . just like how he needed to learn how to do.

"Now!" Riku said. "They're coming!"

King Mickey looked at his best friends and smiled. "Donald, Goofy," he started. "Thank you."

Everyone began pushing on the doors. This time, they were closing. To Sora, this was one of the hardest things he'd ever had to do. He didn't want to lock his best friend in there. But, he had to. For everyone.

Just before the doors closed, Riku sent him one last smile. "Sora, take care of them . . ."

The boy nodded, pushing the doors to Kingdom Hearts closed. He stepped back, summoning his Keyblade to lock it. He pointed it at the door, watching as a beam of light shot at it. A lock sound was heard and then the door disappeared. Taking the king and Riku with it. Sora stared at the empty space. They were gone, but at least he still held them in his heart. They'll find their way out soon.

He turned around, catching sight of a familiar redhead in the distance. "Sora!" she called out. Without hesitating, he ran over to her. "Have you seen Sasuke?" she asked once he was close enough.

Sora frowned. "No. I thought she was with you. Why are you here? What's happening? Where is she?"

"I don't know. We were in the castle and then her body just vanished. I don't know where she is, Sora!" Kairi shook her head at the thought of her best friend. Who was going to watch the sunset with her now? Who was going to help braid her hair? She was supposed to be coming back to the island with her. Now, nobody knows where she is. Hell, they all were supposed to be coming back with her.

The snow beneath Kairi's feet soon turned to sand. The sand was floating further and further away from Sora. She was going back to the islands. Sora frowned, watching as the girl floated further and further away. "Do you remember what you said before?" he asked her. "We're always with you, too. I'll come back for you . . . and I'll bring Riku and Sasuke! I promise!"

"I know you will!"

And it was the truth. She knew that her best friends would come back. They'll eventually all be together again. As the sand she was standing on flew further and further away, palm trees began sprouting out of it. She was returning by herself. She watched as Sora's image was replaced with Destiny Island's bright skies. She couldn't help but to smile. She was going home . . . and one day, they'll come with her.

So, that's the end of You're The One Who Will Open The Door! I am so happy. After months and months of procrastination, I finally finished it. What did you think? What do you think is wrong with Sasuke? Why do you think she won't wake up? Where do you think her body went? It certainly didn't turn out the way I thought it would, but I think it's better for the story line. Ugh, I just can't explain how happy I am right now.

Kingdom Hearts II is now out! It is my story called "Sea Salt Ice-Cream" and I hope you're excited, because I plan for a lot of stuff to go down in that. And since they'll be older teenagers in KH2, I plan for the content to be a little more explicit in that one. This means cursing and what not . . . just as a heads up. I'll also be going back through this story and editing it. I realized that I have a lot of errors and I want to fix that.

I also want to thank the readers for giving me a reason to finish this. Sasuke would be in the trash if it weren't for you. Thank you.

An epilogue is coming soon!
