Hello people. It's been a long while and in all honesty have no excuses, well at least not any good ones, to justify my lateness. Therefore I am truly sorry for having made you all wait, but what can I say procrastination really is my biggest enemy. Please enjoy, and I'm opened to all comments good or bad ones. Thank you.

Chapter 11

In the middle of the night there stood Levi. His hair was disheveled and flat against his face. The usual uniform I had always seen him in was not present at the moment instead he wore pajama pants and a light blue T-shirt fitted so that it made the outline of his body stand out. It felt strange looking at Levi in such a state. His eyes appeared tired and yet they held a focus towards me. The wind picked up and blew onto us. The cold brushed against my skin and my whole body went through a shock, but it refused to shiver. It refused to move an inch. I was petrified, but on the inside I was in turmoil. My heart skipped a beat and my mind went blank.

"I'll ask again. What's going on?" There was something about Levi that always impacted me to the core. Maybe it was he's ability to be able and make himself seem superior. Even now when he stands in front of these two influential beings he's voice is unwavering, commanding, and firm. He's shorter then both men, but the way he carries himself strikes in the fear of looking up at a giant.

"We're so sorry to have disrupted your sleep Captain." The nicer of the two sponsors apologized. "We just seemed to have come across some trouble and the young lady here was helping us. That's all."

The sponsor smiled and turned to leave followed right behind by the other man when Levi's words once again caused a frost so great it froze everything within his reach including the beating of my heart. "What did she help you with?" The mere simplicity of these words were that of a child's. It was such a simple question with a direct, but still simple answer, but at that moment no one could answer it.

Levi stood there in all of his sleepy glory staring us down. He's gaze was faced froward, right towards us. The blood in my veins finally thawed out and started to circulate through my system. I could feel the color returning to my cheeks and the beating of my heart once again entering the stage to give yet another great performance.

I bowed again and spoke in order to break the silence that was suffocating my lungs. "I'm so sorry. It seems I've caused both of us some trouble." I looked up at the silk pajamaed man and smiled with what I hoped looked sincere. I turned to face my biggest obstacle and at the moment my biggest fear. We stared down at each other, eyes locked into a fierce battle of control and command. The clouds floating about in the black night, mended into the darkness as if they were an extra blanket covering an already darken canvas. As if the once white pieces of cloth had slowly begun to became absorbed and drenched into the darkness of night leaving behind a starless, moonless sky.

"I'm sorry we woke you up and I know I'm not suppose to be here, but I came to help a friend." I waited to see what kind of reaction this would erect from Levi's face, but nothing changed. The same bored, sleepy gaze met my dark blue eyes, but I knew I couldn't leave it at this. "One of the sponsors who happens to be a friend of mine got...um..." I glanced back at the two sponsors wondering how to finish my sentence, but they gave me no clue. They just starred, clearly uneasy about all of this. "Lost, and I found him on my way to the bathrooms and so I escorted him back towards the cabins."

Levi eyed me with suspicion. The wind blew by and momentarily played with his jet black hair. His bangs were swept up and separated into different sections as invisible fingers drove through. "Is that all." We all nodded yes. A moment of silence fell onto us and the only thing filling the void was the howling of the wind. In one sudden gust of air those invisible fingers loosen their grip off of Levi's bangs only enough to then violently thrash the strands of my hair sideways along with Levi's. The force of the wind was now gradually losing its potency and just as sudden as it came it left us. Levi's hair was now beyond repair leaving behind clumps of knots, but I'm sure mine didn't look any better. In my mouth I had an odd mixture of hair and dirt.

All of this suspense and tension lasted only for a minute or even less in real time, but between our stare off those seconds felt like countless hours ticking away in a blink of an eye. There was a decision Levi had to make. He could either impose and reprimand me as he would do to any other recruit for just standing where I now have my feet firmly planted, or he could just wait and see exactly what I'm planning. "Alright." Both me and the sponsors sighed a breath of relief in unison at Levi's response. An awkward silence was then placed upon us. The situation is getting harder and harder to control the sponsors now seem uneasy, ready to put this matter to an end, but I wasn't finished yet.

Taking a bold move I grabbed hold of a pair of hands that belonged to the grey haired sponsor. With pleading and determined eyes I spoke, "Please allow me to come back later today!" The poor man seemed shocked. The color of his weathered face turned into a pale, almost sick looking shade of white. The shock in his eyes caused wrinkles to be all more visible and despite the fact that he looks well for his age, right now the years were visibly showing the marks they've left behind. "I want to talk to him... I need to talk to him." His eyes shifted towards the bruise on my cheek, and a glimmer of guilt and uncertainty washed over them. As he looked at me he saw a victim. A small girl who had been attacked by one of his fellow sponsors, but he didn't trust me, and I'm sure he wasn't a hundred percent convinced about my innocents, but there seemed to be some sort of soft side towards me and I wondered why. The image of my Jane came into my mind and so did the small boy's tear stained checks along with his green eyes. The memory of me hugging him, wanting to comfort him just because he barred a resemblance to my dear Jane. The look in his eyes reminded me of that time. The reason behind his kindness, behind the guilt, and the want to help me is maybe because I remind him of someone whom he loves. Maybe he has a daughter somewhere whom he cares for the same way I cared for my Jane, and maybe he loved her the way a farther should always love their child.

"I...I..."

"Aww! Come on let the girl come. Plus I would like to hear what she has to say to our dear friend Erik." The second sponsor spoke as he shoved his way through the door pushing aside the kind man. He broke free only to then wrap around an arm onto my shoulders. Despite the fact that he was now sober, it still seemed that the alcohol was not yet finished running its course through his system. Fully clothed, the man dismissed all of the tension in the air forgetting all about Levi, who in fact was still standing in the sidelines watching all of this unfold quietly. My instincts kicked in as his hand made contact with the bare skin on my forearm. His fingers gently stroke my arm in a none to discreet manner. My muscles ached and my jaw locked as the need to throw him off of me came, but I resisted. "Tonight all of us sponsors are having a party, along with some of our favorite officers. Why don't ya come over. I'm sure you'll have time to talk with Erik, and if you finish earlier you could talk to me too." His voice was suggestive and inviting, but the words were coated in a scent of alcohol.

I took hold of his hand, and gently. as to not be rude, I placed it back against his body. Quickly my mind started to work to formulate an answer, but before I could the elder man spoke. "I think you should come." I stared at the man quite surprised, and so did Joseph. He looked down at me and his eyes were dark, but they didn't feel cold. There was a change to him. It was as if he finally made up his mind. "If you wouldn't mind I also like to hear what happened between you and Erik as well."

My brain froze. I was going to have an audience now. This wasn't going as planned. I was suppose to bring Erik over, raise suspicions, and then threaten him with ruining his reputation. I was going to blackmail him. Sure it was weak, but it was all I had and my best move given the circumstances, but I couldn't back down now. I nodded yes. "Thank you." This wasn't over yet. I can still win, and I can use this to force the situation onto Erik. I'm not giving up until I can finally push Erik against a wall and have him feel despair, until I can bend him to my will just like he has done to me before.

The man nodded towards my response and smiled. "Well since we got all that settled let's all return to bed. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be late for your training either right." His worry seemed sincere and the light tone behind his words gave the situation a different feel to it.

In a matter of minutes both sponsors had already gone back to their cabin to presume their night as they had planned. As the door shuts close it vanishes all traces of light from the inside of the cabin. Following the sudden absence of light from the entrance the windows in the cabin go dim and finally there is no source of light left to illuminate and or brighten the atmosphere that now greets me. Levi is standing silently behind me and I can't help, but feel somewhat awkward.

My shoulders sag as the tension falls off me and my breathe starts to come out slowly. My arms and joints feel rusty and ridged as if I had been forcing them to move against their will. All of tonight's events seem so unreal now that I stand here, quietly in the dark. It's just like a dream, but it isn't. I can feel Levi's eyes against my back and a shudder goes through me. I feel nervous and uneasy all over again.

"So this is what you wanted?" His voice was steady and clear.

I turned to look at him, and as I met his eyes I spoke, "More or less."

He eyed me for a second, but then sighed and turned. "Erwin isn't going to like this."

"What do you mean?" He started to walk towards his cabin and so I followed, but he wouldn't answer my question. "Levi what do you mean?!"
He stopped and tilted his head around. There were dark circles underneath his eyes, and I finally saw just how tiring all of this must be for him. "Go back to your cabin. It's too damn early to talk about this," and with that he entered his cabin and left me with a gaping hole in the center of my stomache. If couldn't go to that party then everything, everything I did would be for nothing.

...

I couldn't sleep, and once the bell rang I was up and changing. The dorm held its usual tone to it as if nothing had transpired a few hours ago. The girls would sleepy eyed, make their beds and idling chat among themselves. All day long my mind was filled with Levi's words and the worry started to gnaw at my bones.

The morning practice was filled with running drills and exercises on our 3-D maneuver. The classes afterwards felt excruciating long and for the first time I wasn't excited about what I was going to learn today. I even learned a new word, 'villa,' it meant some sort of large house of in the country, and apparently the king had owned one before the briesh had happened. All of this new information didn't brighten my mood. In fact I could care less about how many villas the king has or had. My mind was too muddled to care.

On our way to lunch Dillan and his group of friends passed us snickering to themselves. "Sina, is something wrong?" Aki stared at me with the same darkening expression he gets when he's worried about me. How many times has it been that I've made Aki worry so much for me?...Too many times.

"Aki, I..."

"Hey, Aki wait up!" In instinct I turned to follow the owner of the voice. A pair of big black eyes, and short spiky black hair came into my line of vision. The boy trotted towards us with a big smile. Aki and me stopped walking as the boy approached us. "Hey man, can I get some help on the lesson. I kind of fell asleep half way through." The boy nervously laughed as he spoke. "Oh, hey Sina, how was the lesson for ya? Not too hard?"

"They were fine."

"Awe, come on, ya'll need to be a little bit more talkative." He smiled at me with crooked teeth.

I stared at the boy for a while and finally blurted out. "You talk weird."

The boy's smile shrank a size and stared back. Through the corner of my eye I could see Aki glance at me in an uneasy way, and then in a flash the boy's arm wrapped around me and laughed. "You sure as hell are a blunt young lady!" And just like that he ended up following us all the way to the dinning hall, and sitting with me and Aki at the table.

"Hey, wait slow your horse man, I still don't get it." It was literally the fifth time Aki had explained the lesson to this boy. It was a good thing Aki had the gift of patience.

"Hey, what's your name?" Both Aki and the spiky headed boy went silent. I know that he's in our squad, but I've never really paid attention to him before. Actually I don't pay much attention to anyone.

"Well aren't you rude missy. We've been in the same squad for some time now. I 'ought think you know my name by now." His accent really is strange.

"Well, I don't."

"My name is Jeremiah. Pleased to make your acquaintance missy." He smiled at me and went back to bothering Aki about the same questions again.

The cabin was as loud and chaotic as it had been from the first time I step foot in. And as I watched everyone laugh and talk my mind started to wonder. What did Levi mean by Erwin not liking it? I have to go to that party, and I have to make things clear. No matter what.

Lunch was almost over now and many were already starting to get up from their sits to head back. I stood up too, but before I could gather my a man came in and called my name. He was a rather short man with a crew cut decorating his scalp. He was carrying a white piece of paper as he pushed aside both double doors and called for me. The room was silent even Jeremiah seized his talking. I walked towards the man and he simply handed me the piece of paper and left with no explanation, with no memo. He simply just left.

"Hey, what did that fellow give ya?" Jeremiah inquired as I returned to the table. Inside that white piece of paper were two things: 7:00p.m Cabin #1.
