Prologue ➳ The Angel and The One in the Shadows
Dean;
Sam and I entered the motel room that we had just paid for, both of us tired after the hunt we had just finished. It was a werewolf, and it had been one tricky son of a bitch, but luckily we had both left fairly uninjured. All I wanted now was a hot shower and some sleep.
I had only taken a single step in the direction of the motel bathroom when the faint sound of wings was heard and Castiel appeared in the middle of our motel room.
"What the hell?" I exclaimed, taking in the angel's appearance. He had a bloody nose and bruises all over his face as well as a nasty forehead gash that was dripping crimson liquid down past his left eye. He was panting heavily, and looked like he was on the verge of passing out despite the ominous look in his eyes.
"Cas, what happened to y-" Sam began to ask the exact question that would be on any sane person's mind.
"There's no time." Castiel interrupted, his voice low and urgent, "You have to find her."
"What?" I was startled by the normally stoic man's demeanor.
"You have to find her." the angel repeated, "You have to get to her before..."
The angel trailed off, shaking his head slightly and looking disoriented.
"Cas?" I stared, taking a step forward as the angel stumbled a bit.
"Find the one in the shadows..." was all he said before he collapsed.
"Cas!" Sam shouted as the angel crumpled to the floor. I rushed over to where he had fallen and felt his neck for a pulse.
"He's alive." I notified my brother, standing up and facing him, "But barely."
"So what the hell do we do now?" Sam questioned, a grim look in his eyes as they met mine.
I gazed back down at Castiel who didn't look like he was going to be waking up anytime soon. I wondered what could have enough power to take down an angel like this, but I honestly didn't want to know. Sadly, I was certain I was most likely going to find out anyways.
"Now," I stated, "We find the one in the shadows."
