Both arrived at the hospital at the same time, in their own cars. Stiles wasn't sure what to do to change the fact that he and Jackson just happened to arrive together. Stiles stood still in the parking lot and waited for Jackson to pass him. Jackson gripped Stiles' arm on the way past and turned back to show him a look of trust and support.
Stiles took a deep breath and followed after he couldn't see Jackson anymore. Before he could gather up any strength, someone else caught the corner of his eye. It was Derek, and seeing for where it was he would have seen them together. Derek caught up to Stiles and they started to walk up the hospital stairs together. Stiles had no idea why Derek would be here, he had nothing to do with Lydia. But then again maybe all the things that happened that night would be of Derek's high interest.
"You came here with him? Did you…?" Derek said inconspicuously.
All Stiles could do was nod.
"And now Lydia wants to see the both of you?"
Stiles nodded again, filling up with more guilt.
"You must be freaking out."
Stiles nodded very enthusiastically.
Derek put his hand on Stiles' shoulder and gripped it tightly while they started to walk in.
"Just stay calm and don't worry about it, just try to be yourself; well not too much."
Stiles looked at Derek with annoyance but gratitude; just want he needed to walk into the hospital.
Once they arrived, Stiles saw Jackson talking to Scott and Alison who were sitting out in the foyer.
Stiles was glad that Derek was there after all, in-case anyone else thought anything suspicious of him and Jackson's whereabouts, Derek could protect him.
"Is she okay?" Stiles asked.
He felt so guilty that he wasn't there when she woke up; he had been there constantly but just not tonight. He tried to not look at Jackson in case he cracked.
"Yeah, the doctors say she's still in a critical state, but a little better. As soon as she woke up she started asking to see you, Jackson and me. Must have been doing some thinking in her sleep," Alison replied.
"What did she have to say to you?" Stiles said, probably too quickly, because he wanted to know.
"Just that she was glad to have me as a friend, and how grateful she was and how I have always been there for her. It was sweet," Alison said.
Stiles felt a little bit relieved at her answer, that didn't seem too bad, maybe she would tell him the same.
"What are you doing here?" Scott asked Derek.
"I heard she woke up, just wanted to see that she was okay with everything. She saw a lot that night."
Derek gave a quick glance at Stiles, revealing the true reason he was here, to protect Stiles and Jackson.
A nurse came out of Lydia's room, "She's still weak, so only one at a time."
"She said she wanted to see Stiles first," Alison said.
Stiles looked at Jackson quickly before taking a deep breath and heading in. He was thankful that the blinds were shut. Lydia still looked unwell, but had a little more color in her cheeks. She heard Stiles come in and opened her eyes, and gave him a smile. She was quite sleepy but looked like she still wanted Stiles to see her.
Stiles could feel his knees go numb as he walked over to her. He wasn't sure if that was excitement or nerves. He sat down on the chair next to her bed and gave her his full attention.
"How are you feeling?" Stiles said, realizing that the excitement was taking the lead.
"Really tired, but better," Lydia replied, slowly but sincerely.
"I was so worried about you that night," Stiles said honestly.
"I remember you there that night. Thank you. I had a good time with you at the dance. Which made me think how much I could be with you," Lydia said with many pauses in between.
Stiles couldn't believe what he was hearing. She was being so honest and raw, so beautiful, the real Lydia. He wasn't sure if maybe she was still really tired and recovering and not actually truly want to mean it. All in all he knew that he liked what he was hearing. It felt so amazing to hear that someone you have loved for the past 10 years actually felt the same as you always had. His 5 year plan had worked.
"I had a good time with you too. You are so beautiful Lydia and I've always thought how we could be together too."
Lydia smiled, "I know." She gripped onto his hand and squeezed as tightly as she could.
Stiles squeezed back and looked at Lydia with a shy, innocent smile.
Stiles smiled and placed his other hand onto theirs. He could see that she was looking tired; all the talking had made her grow exhausted.
"I will come back and see you later, let you rest," Stiles said as he slowly let go of her hand.
She rested her head softly against the pillow and smiled, "Thank you Stiles."
He watched her doze off before leaving her alone to sleep. He shut the door lightly and walked back to the others. He still had a smile on his face until he saw Jackson. Fuck. He had somehow forgotten all about Jackson when he was in there. The intense amount of feelings for Lydia he felt in there overpowered everything. 10 years and finally something changed. Lydia was his first love and there was nothing in the way of that.
Once he realized, Stiles shot past them as quickly but not noticeable as he could. They all turned around and watched him walk out, he almost looked mad now. Derek was the last left staring as him as he went out the door. He had two scenarios in his head and both didn't sit well with him.
Stiles got straight into his jeep and raced home. He didn't know what the hell he was feeling, all he knew he had to get as far as way from there as possible. It was Sunday night but his Dad was working a late shift. Stiles got to his bedroom and collapsed on the bed.
Shit, shit, shit. He thought his life was confusing a few days ago, but look at it now. He had two people who he loved and who loved him. But he had to choose one.
He felt like kicking himself when he thought about not being with Lydia. Pretty much his whole life he had had feelings for her, and would do anything to be with here. She was so smart and beautiful and made Stiles happy every time he saw her. Their relationship had developed more in the recent past and the prom was the result of it. Stiles would have never imagined that he could take Lydia to the prom, of course there were reasons and consequences to it, but that didn't get in the way of the those moments together. Lydia was a very strong minded person, if Stiles said no to her now, she probably wouldn't ask again.
But Jackson. It was still so new but wonderful, something that Stiles never thought he would have with Lydia. He loved Jackson in a different way to Lydia, it was a more real love, a physical and mental love that he wished he could have for a long time. He didn't care about any repercussions when he was with Jackson, he just wanted to be with him, no matter what. The newness of the relationship is what confused Stiles. It had only be a few days since that moment on the football field to just before and sleeping together for the first time. But that's also what Stiles loved about it, how fast it was moving. 10 years of loving Lydia and nothing but a smile. Lydia never really acknowledged him to not long ago. Neither did Jackson, but now that it was different, Jackson gave him his full attention. That was extra good because Jackson was quiet a private and reserved person in terms of his feelings. Now that Stiles had seen that side he wasn't sure if he wanted to let go.
Stiles heard a car pull into the driveway. It had a much loud engine than his Dad's, it sounded like, Jackson's. Stiles shot up out of bed and went up to the window to check. Yep, its him. He got out of the car and slowly approached the door. The doorbell rang, it startled Stiles even though he knew it would happen. He went down and answered it. Jackson stood there with a look determination and confusion on his face.
"What did she say to you?" He said.
Stiles didn't want to answer truthfully, he couldn't possibly tell Jackson about it. Not like this anyway.
"Uh, not much just…"
Jackson cut him off, "You know what she said to me?" That she doesn't want to be with me at all anymore. She has feelings for someone else and wants to be with them."
Stiles couldn't tell if Jackson was angry at him or sad or wanting to blame someone. He didn't know what to say to him to not hurt him.
"Is that person you? Is that what she told you?" Jackson said, slowly growing anxious.
"Yeah she did."
"What are you going to do then?" Jackson said back.
Stiles had never seen Jackson like this before, but he knew what it was. He was almost protective of his feelings and of Stiles.
"I don't know, I'm thinking about it."
"You're thinking about it? What is there to think about?"
Jackson was making it more and more obvious onto what he was feeling, and what he wanted Stiles to feel.
Stiles spoke quickly, to keep up with Jackson's angst, "I've always wanted to be with Lydia, I love her. But now there's you, and I love you too and probably more than I ever would with her. But I don't.."
Jackson quickly reached over to Stiles and passionately kissed him. He places his hands on Stiles' cheek as he tongue darted in Stiles' mouth. Stiles was surprised and scared by the kiss, but quickly kissed him back. There was so much angst in the kiss, Jackson was so forceful and rough as he kissed Stiles. It didn't bother Stiles though, he matched Jackson's angst by grabbing hard onto Jackson's hips and pulled them closer.
Even though the kiss was out of this world, Stiles knew that it wasn't helping the situation. Jackson was still clearly upset, and they needed to talk about what Stiles was going to do before doing anything else. Yet Stiles couldn't stop himself, and either could Jackson.
Without breaking their kiss they both guided themselves up the stairs and into Stiles' bedroom. Stiles shut the door with his foot as they threw each other onto the bed. The passion that they were feeling towards each other quickly overpowered any thought of what was happening in reality.
With Jackson on top of Stiles, he took off Stiles' shirt and threw it down on the ground. He kissed down Stiles' neck before sucking at Stiles' hard nipples. Stiles wriggled in pleasure as he gripped his fingernails into Jackson's back. Jackson moved his tongue down Stiles abdomen and began to loosen Stiles' belt. He moved back up to Stiles' mouth and kissed him deeply as he used his hands to move down Stiles' pants. Jackson was very caught up in the moment, moaning with Stiles as everything got more intense.
Stiles was also caught in the moment, but not enough to hear a noise from downstairs. It sounded like a door shutting, but his Dad wouldn't be home for hours. Before Stiles could stop Jackson and himself to see what it was, his door opened, with Derek standing there.
