CHAPTER 9
Paige fumbled around in her car trying to find her SatNav to direct her back to AKD records.
'If Spence wont give me her number', Paige thought, 'then I'll just have to go get it myself'. With that Paige entered in the address for AKD Records into her SatNav and soon enough reached her destination.
The feisty dark haired girl marched into AKD, up to the receptionist and asked for the ''big, muscled guy that name began with A''.
The girl behind the desk looked at Paige questioningly as to whether she should give her this information or not.
''It's ok Mandy, I'll take it from here'', Aiden said whilst walking up to the desk.
''Paige, right?'', Aiden asked.
''Yeah, hey, I don't know if you remember me from the other day but I need a favour'', Paige began pulling Aiden aside and asked him if would hand over Kyla's number.
Aiden smirked, thinking of the conversation he had with Ashley's sister about this girl. ''Of course, but what do you want it for exactly?''.
''You're kidding right?'', Paige asked looking at Aiden in disbelief, Aiden smirked, about to tease the dark haired girl a bit more when he was interrupted by Kyla,
''Kidding about what?'', the small brunette looked between the two others.
''Well?'', Kyla asked them again. Aiden looked at Paige with a grin.
''Um, nothing'', Paige stepped in, ''Just offered Aiden a number for a girl I know that's single but for some reason he refused''.
Aiden could not believe what this girl had just said. Kyla looked over at her tall friend,
''Your kidding? Aid, why wont you go for it?'', she quizzed.
''Um…'', the guy was lost for words, ''…I…I just don't like the sound of blind dates, you know, you just don't know what their guna look like or anything'', Aiden hoped Paige appreciated he had just went along with her cover, and prayed Kyla would believe his crappy story.
''Well, I think your being to picky, you should go for it, you never what's just round the corner'', Kyla said to her male friend whilst giving a quick glance at Paige. ''not to be a bore'', Kyla began, ''but we do have to get back to work'', she said looking at Aiden.
''You go ahead'', Aiden told his boss, ''I'll be there in just a second''.
Kyla looked at the two and waved goodbye to Paige as she stood staring on in a amazement.
''You owe me big time'', Aiden said breaking Paige out of her daydream and handing her a piece of paper with Kyla's number in it.
Spencer had set her equipment up before Ashley had arrived so they could get straight to it (so to speak :D). The two girls had been at it for a few hours now (work people!). Spencer had asked everything from when Ashley first wanted to be in the music industry to the latest signed artist for AKD Records.
''So, what were you like in high school? I read somewhere you dropped out after prom, is that true?'', Spencer knew her question was risky for her to ask but she needed Ashley to admit she was putting on a 'I don't know you' act so Spencer could finally find out what went on between them all those years ago.
''Um, well first off'', just as Ashley began to answer, Spencer's doorbell rang.
''Hold that thought'', Spencer told the Brunette as she got up to answer the door, as the blonde flung it open aggravated at whoever it was that had just interrupted her and Ashley, she came face-to-face with her family.
''surprise!'', they all said as Spencer stood there confused.
''Well, are you going to invite us in?'', the blondes mum Paula, asked her daughter.
Spencer stepped aside and told them all to come in. Paula, followed by her husband, Mr C, Spencer's brothers, Glen and Clay, Clay's wife Chelsea and their 9year old daughter Faye all piled in to the living room.
''Oh, sorry Spence, we didn't realise you had company'', Mr C remarked as he spotted Ashley in the living room.
''It's ok'', Ashley replied, ''We were just working, I can catch up with Miss Carlin another day''.
''sorry sis'', Glen turned to his little sister, ''We all thought we would surprise you as a birthday thing, We know it's not until tomorrow but I've got a game I can't miss and Clays away on business as of tomorrow afternoon''.
''That's ok'', Spencer replied, ''I'll just see Ashley out and be with you guys in a sec''. Spencer walked Ashley to the front door and gave her an apologetic look.
''It's no problem'', Ashley told the blonde, ''You should be with your family, don't worry about coming in the office tomorrow, you should have it off, it's your birthday after all. Just give me a call when you want to start filming again''.
Spencer looked on at the brunette stood before her, not wanting her to leave, having a feeling of warmth in the pit of her stomach, a feeling she used to get back in high school when ever she laid her eyes upon Ashley.
''Ok, thanks. I'll see you in a couple of days then'', Spencer said goodbye and went back to her party of intruders.
Aiden went into Kyla's office to say goodnight, ready to call It a day. ''Hey Aid, you off?'', Kyla asked.
''Yea I'm guna head off, you had your call yet?'' Aiden replied without realising what he had just blurted out.
''Wait? What?'', Kyla asked the guy standing in her doorway. ''What call?''she asked on.
''Umm…'', Aiden knew he'd just blown it, ''…the call, from Paige, that's why she came by earlier''.
Kyla was shocked at what she'd just heard, ''I knew something was off with you two!'', she said.
''Sorry, she kind of wanted me not to tell you, obviously, but that's out the window now'', Aiden explained with a giggle. As Aiden was having his little giggle fit, Kyla's phone started to ring.
The brunette looked up at her friend, ''O my god it's her!'', Kyla panicked.
''How'd you now its her? You haven't got her number'', Aiden replied.
''Well its coming up with a number I don't recognise so it's got to be her! What does she want? What do I say?''Kyla rambled on in a panic.
''Well answer it and you'll find out'', Aiden told the brunette, ''and as for what to say, how about starting with hello!'' with that Aiden exited leaving his boss with a quick thumbs up.
''Hello'', Kyla spoke after deciding to answer the phone.
''Um, hi, is this Kyla?'', Paige questioned.
''Depends who's asking'', the brunette smiled to herself whilst repeating the first words Paige had ever said to her.
''Guess I deserved that'', Paige retorted. The two girls exchanged banter for a few minutes before Paige plucked up the courage to finally ask Kyla out.
''So, the reason I called…'', the darker haired girl began, '' …I wanted to see if you fancied getting some dinner with me at some point? Or maybe just go for coffee or something?''.
''Why Paige, are you asking me out?'', Kyla teased, ''What makes you think I go out with women?''.
''Well, firstly, yes and secondly, I'm not asking you to date women in general, im asking you to come and have a nice meal out with me'', Paige replied just hoping her witty response would get this girl to agree. Kyla paused and thought about whether she should take this amazing girl up on her offer.
''Ok'', the brunette answered.
''Ok…is that all you've got to say?'', Paige asked, ''Well, I'll take what I can get and before you change your mind im guna go'', Paige said about to hang up.
''Wait!'', Kyla shouted down the phone, ''..aren't you guna tell me exactly when and where you plan on our little date?''.
''Oh yea'', Paige mentally kicked herself, '' how about Friday night, I'll come pick you up at 6pm, you can txt me your address''. The two girls finished up their conversation and arrangements for their get together before quickly saying goodbye. Kyla smiled to herself as she sat at her desk, now excited about the weekend to come.
