Change in a Star's Alignment
Chapter 18
Draco's POV:
Draco woke up feeling extremely warm and comfortable. He didn't think he'd ever felt this comfortable in his bed before, but he brushed that thought away. Instead, he prepared to go back to sleep. However, his eyes flew open when he felt someone breathing against his neck.
Harry's head was resting gently against Draco's arm which was wrapped behind the raven-haired teen's back. Meanwhile, Harry had cuddled up to Draco's left side with his face turned into Draco's neck and their feet somewhat intertwined. Draco then realised that there was a small amount of weight on his chest and saw that Harry's hand was resting there, feeling his heartbeat just like he'd done to Harry last night. What's more, was Draco's hand had been draped lightly on top of Harry's as if to keep the other boy's hand from moving.
Draco was shocked to say the least. He had felt so comfortable and safe last night. To find out he felt that way because he was sleeping with Harry, was insane. But then again, Draco thought, maybe not. He's made me feel safe before when he would hug me… And he calms me down when I'm nervous, like when he held my hand at Hagrid's… Oh Merlin! Draco mentally groaned, My Mother was right!
Draco looked down at Harry's sleeping face as he remembered the conversation he'd had with his mother…
Draco and Narcissa were sitting at the table in the kitchen of Narcissa's flat. She had decided to live in the tower with them and she had her flat made a floor below his and Harry's.
Right when he walked in her flat he knew that Harry had designed it. It might not have looked anything like his and Harry's rooms, but it just had that attention to detail that only Harry really seemed to have.
The rooms all had deep purple walls with white accent colours and lots of huge windows to brighten up the rooms. She had a balcony and on it were purple and white narcissus flowers. There were also crystal vases with purple narcissus flowers and purple and white baby's breath in them. There were mirrors with crystal borders and crystal chandeliers. It couldn't be any more perfect for Mother.
Mother had shown him through the flat excitedly and pointed out all of the small things that proved to be extremely useful as well as beautiful. She had obviously fallen in love with the rooms. When he told her that it was Harry who had designed it, she immediately said that she wanted him to design her whole house once the war was over.
"So Draco," she said as they sat down for dinner, "how's Harry doing?"
Draco mentally sighed. I really hoped we wouldn't talk about him today. "He's fine Mother." He said simply.
"I see… Are you two dating yet?" she asked nonchalantly as she made herself some tea.
"What?" Draco asked, nearly spitting out the piece of steak he was eating.
"Really dear, you still haven't figured out that you like him?"
"Of course I like him Mother, he's my friend."
"Friend indeed." She said with a small laugh. "Please Dragon, I've seen you two interact. I've seen you hug and hold hands and how both of you didn't even seem to realise it was happening!"
"Hey!" Draco said defensively, "We only held hands that one time!"
"Oh really?" she asked with one eyebrow raised. At his nod, she smiled brightly. "Really? Because I seem to recall Hagrid telling me about and incident in which the two of you stood up and were still holding hands."
Shit… Busted… Draco though. "Oh, well… that…"
"Let me guess," Mother said, "he was comforting you."
"Well yeah actually, he was. I was nervous so he grabbed my hand to stop my tapping." Draco said triumphantly.
"Uh-huh. Now tell me, how did you feel?" she asked quietly while taking a sip of her tea.
"Well, I just felt…" Draco stopped and thought about it. I guess I felt safe… he thought. And I felt warmth and comfort… "I don't know Mother, I guess I felt comforted since that's what he was trying to do in the first place" he finally answered.
"And that's all you felt?" she said with a small smirk.
"Of course Mother." He said a little too quickly. "Look, Harry and I are not dating and I don't even like him like that anyways."
"Whatever you say dear." Mother said with a sigh. "You'll figure it out soon enough and you'll realise that you like Harry more than just a friend."
Why does Mother always have to be right? Draco thought to himself after reliving the dinner with his Mother.
He looked at Harry's sleeping form beside him and finally admitted to himself that he has feelings for Harry. This is a mess! Draco thought. There's no way he could ever like me back!
Draco continued to watch the raven-haired teen. Harry's hair had fallen in front of his face and he couldn't help but reach over with his right hand and brush the hair away. To his surprise, the other boy's hair is actually much softer than it looked. After running his hand through Harry's hair once, he let his hand rest on Harry's cheek. The other teen started to move and Draco took his hand away from Harry's face, afraid of being caught. He didn't have to worry however because the other boy simply sighed and moved closer into Draco's side.
Draco breathed a sigh of relief and smiled down at Harry. He closed his eyes and let himself pretend that Harry and him were dating and that he could always start his day by waking up holding Harry.

Harry's POV:
Harry felt something touch his face but he was much too comfortable to care. Instead, he moved closer to whatever it was that he was cuddling up to. Wait… Didn't I fall asleep with Draco next to me last night? Harry thought. He opened his eyes slightly to see a sleeping Draco. Oh… Well that happened. Harry thought, somewhat amused.
He knew he should get up and untangle himself from Draco, but he couldn't bring himself to move for some reason. I'm just so comfortable though, Harry thought. Plus, he added, it's nice to wake up with someone next to you. Yeah… That's what it is.
As much as Harry wanted to stay there with Draco for a while longer (purely because I'm lazy and this is comfortable, he told himself), he knew they should probably get up.
Harry sighed and started to get up but realised he couldn't without waking the blonde up too. That's weird, he thought, Draco's usually the first one up. Harry put that thought aside by blaming it on the amount of alcohol they'd had the previous night.
"Hey Draco," he said quietly, "we should probably get up. Especially since I can't move until you do."
The blonde slowly opened his eyes and looked at Harry. "Good morning" Draco said tiredly.
"Mornin' Draco" he said with a smile. "Shall we get up now?"
"Oh, yeah, sorry." The blonde said quickly and almost nervously.
"It's no problem Draco." He said confused. What is his problem? He wondered, He's acting odd.
They finally managed to disentangle themselves and they both stretched and went about their daily routines as per usual. Though Harry couldn't help but feel as if he was missing something.

Draco's POV:
As Harry was going through his morning routine, Draco was silently freaking out due to the discovery of his feelings for the boy who was currently in the bathroom. Draco was pacing the living room, trying to figure out how to act normal. That's enough! Draco thought, Stop freaking out! Harry is pretty oblivious about the obvious and Mother says that it's obvious I like Harry, so therefore he won't find out. Having come to that conclusion, Draco calmed down and sat on the sofa with a book and began to read while he waited to use the bathroom.
The boys spent the rest of the day preparing to go back to school the next day. They both finished homework they still hadn't done and actually had a normal day, to Draco's surprise. He was expecting Harry to figure out that he liked him, but he never did, much to Draco's relief.
That night, Draco had a hard time falling asleep. He missed the feeling of having Harry sleeping beside him. He sighed before turning in his bed to face the raven-haired teen. He saw the rise and fall of the other boy's chest in the dark and pretended that Harry was lying beside him. He wished that he could feel the raven-haired teen's heartbeat beneath his hand once again…
