Change In A Star's Alignment

Chapter 32:

After hours of watching the blonde sleep, he finally managed to fall asleep. He woke up around one in the afternoon the next day to find Hermione and Blaise walking in. He smiled slightly towards the two before turning to check on Draco. He was still sleeping, but he looked a lot less pale, much to Harry's relief.

Once he was finished with his inspection of the blonde, he turned to face the pair who had levitated chairs over towards Harry's. They sat directly across from him just as Severus had the day before. They sat in silence for a moment as the other two took in Draco's form, no doubt looking for physical injuries. When they found none, they turned back towards Harry.

"How are you holding up?" Hermione asked gently, leaning over to place her hand on his knee in a show of support.

"I'm good… I just wish he'd wake up." He said honestly. While he was obviously a little worried that he hadn't woken up yet, he also knew that it wasn't expected to happen until that evening.

The three went on talking about trivial things in order to pass the time. Harry was grateful for their company since it meant that the time went a lot faster than if he had of been alone with nothing to do but count the seconds that went by. Before he knew it, dinner was being brought to them by the Hogwarts House Elves.

The three ate in relative silence; Blaise and Hermione leaving soon afterwards in case Draco woke up. They knew that Harry would want to have some alone time with the blonde before he had to deal with everyone else.

Just as Harry was about to worry about Draco not having woken up yet, he felt the blonde's hand squeeze his gently. Harry looked away from the clock he had been watching, to find himself looking directly into gray eyes.

He all but lunged at the blonde, hugging him tightly before quickly letting go and muttering an apology as he realised that Draco being awake did not mean that he was fully healed. However, he refused to let go of the blonde's hand as he sat back down in his chair.

"How are you feeling?" Harry asked immediately, looking the other boy over intently.

"I could use some water." Draco said quietly in a scratchy voice.

Harry could have smacked himself for his stupidity; of course Draco would need water, he chastised himself, he's been asleep for a very long time without anything to drink!

Thinking about that, he decided to also get Dray something to eat as well. So he quickly called Dobby to get them some food while he conjured a glass of water and handed it to the blonde lying on the bed. He ended up having to help the other boy by tipping the glass to his lips for him, since Draco was still too sore to move properly. This caused the blonde to blush furiously, but Harry only smiled softly in return.

"That's better, thanks." Draco said after he had finished drinking.

"Anytime." He replied as Dobby appeared before them with some food.

After a few minutes of eating and a few more of awkward silence, Harry finally decided that he needed to end the silence before he'd internally combust.

"I'm glad you're okay Dray… I was terrified when I saw your father's name on the map."

Harry watched as Draco fiddled with a loose string on his hospital gown, looking as though he was trying to decide something. Finally, the blonde looked up and directly into Harry's eyes, "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have left like that, I over-reacted! If I hadn't of left, then none of this would have happened!"

"No Dray, don't be sorry." He said, tenderly pulling the blonde into a hug, not wanting to hurt him, "I was stupid and didn't answer right away and you got upset! That's nothing to be sorry for."

Draco placed his head on Harry's shoulder. They sat in an awkward hug (since Harry was leaning over the bed) for a long time when suddenly, the blonde yawned. Harry chuckled at that, before suggesting that they go to sleep.

Just as Harry was about to make his chair more comfortable, he was stopped by a hand on his arm. When he turned around to see Draco's nervous look, the blonde slid his hand down until the two boys were holding hands.

"Would you sleep with me?" Dray asked quietly, as if he was afraid Harry would refuse.

Harry smiled lightly, climbing in beside the blonde rather than answering out loud. In no time, the blonde was fast asleep with his head against Harry's chest, snuggled comfortably into his side. Harry looked down at his Dray and smiled lightly. He ran his hand through that silky, blonde hair a few times, before moving to place a kiss on the other boy's forehead.

"I love you…" Harry whispered into the darkness before falling asleep, and in that moment, he knew that nothing could be truer.

Draco's POV:

Draco woke to the feeling of fingers running through his hair. Normally, he would have tensed at the feeling, but he could somehow tell that it was Harry. The other boy hadn't realised he was awake yet, so Draco took this time to settle deeper into the raven-haired boy's side and enjoy the attention. As he thought about Harry, he couldn't help but remember that night. He had no clue what he had been thinking that night.

As he had walked the seemingly-empty corridors, he had thought about how unreasonable he was being. He couldn't believe that he had truly thought that Harry would fall in love with him so quickly. Don't get him wrong, he knew that Harry would eventually fall for him, he just knew it couldn't possibly have been so soon. If the person had of been anyone other than Harry Potter, Draco himself wouldn't have fallen so madly in love in such a relatively short amount of time either. However, it is Harry Potter, and who could possibly resist one Harry James Potter? Draco thought with a smile.

As he had been walking those corridors, he realised that he shouldn't have run out on the other boy. In fact, he had been just about to turn back around when he had been stopped by Lucius. He almost flinched, thinking about what had happened, though he managed to stop himself in time, not wanting to alert Harry to his consciousness.

After thinking about everything for another five minutes, Draco decided that it was time to 'wake up'. He started to move lethargically, sighing a few times before finally turning to look at Harry with squinted eyes. The raven-haired boy had a lovely smirk on his face, which confused Draco until Harry spoke.

"So I see you're done contemplating everything, hmm?" the green-eyed boy asked.

He couldn't help but blush brightly at that. He was surprised that Harry could tell that he had woken up much earlier and had been pretending to sleep. He was also grateful that Harry had allowed him to have his time to process things, rather than immediately bombard him with questions.

"Um, yeah." He answered, still lightly blushing.

"What were you thinking about, if you don't mind my asking?" Harry asked, still running his hands gently through Draco's hair.

"Well…"Draco took a deep breath, wanting to get it all over with as quickly as possible, "IwasthinkingthatIwasbeinganidiottheothernightandthatIreallyshouldn'thaveleftyouinthefirstplaceandIreallydon'tneedyoutoreplytowhatIsaidaboutlovingyoubecauseIrealiseitwastoosoonandI'mjustsorry"

"What?" Harry laughed, not having been able to tell what the blonde had said, due to him speaking much too fast.

"I was thinking that I was being an idiot the other night and that I really shouldn't have left you in the first place and I really don't need you to reply to what I said about loving you because I realise it was too soon and I'm just sorry…" Draco said, blushing madly and avoiding the other's green eyes at all costs.

Draco felt the other's hand gently grab his chin and guide his face to look at Harry again. He saw that the raven-haired teen was smiling a little sadly.

"Don't be sorry Dray," Harry started, "it was my fault for not being able to answer you."

Draco almost didn't hear what the other boy was saying, as he had gotten hopelessly lost in those piercing green eyes. Once what the other boy had said sunk in, his eyes widened slightly before asking, "What would have been your answer?" he said quietly, slightly dreading what the answer would be.

"Dray," Harry said, eyes widening as well, "do you really not know? Is it not obvious?"

Draco closed his eyes and tried to move his face out of the other's grasp. He thought he knew exactly what that meant.

"I know… I just hoped it wasn't true…"

He watched as Harry flinched back, as if he had hit him. However, the other boy's expression quickly changed to horror once he had figured out what his previous comment might have implied to Draco.

"No! Draco! That's not what I meant!" Harry said urgently, grabbing hold of Draco's hand tightly.

The raven-haired teen once again grabbed the blonde by the chin. Green eyes locked with grey as Harry prepared to say something that would forever change their relationship.

"Dray," Harry said gently, "is it not obvious that I love you as well?"

Draco looked deeply into the other's eyes, looking for any signs of deception. Finding none, he found his eyes watering lightly of their own accord. He smiled brightly, making Harry smile back.

The two boys were already only inches apart, so it took no time at all for Harry to close the gap between them, pressing his lips chastely onto Draco's. Though it did not last long, Draco couldn't help but feel that it was the best kiss he could ever receive, just because it was Harry who was the one kissing him.

They parted, resting their foreheads together and closing their eyes with smiles on their faces. Both boys felt a little giddy, extremely happy to have finally admitted their feelings and have their first kiss. They simply enjoyed each other's company for the rest of the day, neither complaining that they couldn't do more than that, as people would regularly walk into the infirmary. They did however, eagerly await the next day, for that was when Draco could finally leave and the boys could finally get some privacy.
