One Awkward Triangle
Chapter: Merlin, I'm Sorry
Disclaimer: I don't own an anything but the ideas that made this story. All characters belong to the BBC!
A.N.: Please R&R! I want to know what people think! Especially about the Arthur/Lancelot pairing. I wrote this partly because there weren't any stories on that pairing... :( I hope you like it!!! ^.^
Merlin held his breath, holding in the tears until he had got away from Lancelot. As soon as his room was out of sight, Merlin almost sprinted to Gaius's chambers. He'd tell Arthur he was ill. Gaius knew he liked the prince, so Merlin had decided to tell the old physician in the morning. Now, he ran into his room and locked the door, before collapsing onto his bed and crying.
Lancelot watched Merlin as he ran down the hall. He wished there were someway he could comfort the boy, to make him realise that he deserved someone kinder than Arthur, someone strong and courageous, but also kind. Someone like... Him. Lancelot gasped; shocked he had thought that.
Arthur sighed, getting up and walking to Gaius's chambers. He knocked on the door before entering, to see Gaius was no where to be found. He walked to Merlin's room, but stopped. He silently put his ear to the door, his eyes widening as he heard Merlin crying. He was about to walk in, when Merlin started talking. "Why did i ever think Arthur would like me? He's too busy looking at Lancelot to see that I love him. And even if he knew, he would never care. I'm a servant, nothing more." Arthur was shocked. Merlin love him? It was impossible! He quickly walked back to the door, and slammed it, saying loudly, "Gaius? Merlin!?" Hoping that he'd come out. He walked over to the door and knocked on it, speaking in a softer voice now. "Merlin?" He said, knocking lightly again. "Merlin are you okay? Does this have something to do with me sending you to give Lancelot those flowers?" He asked, just hoping for a reply. He heard the rustling of sheets, before Merlin opened the door slightly and looked out. Arthur forced himself not to gasp - Merlin looked terrible. There were obvious tear-streaks down his face; which was puffy and red. "Merlin, I'm sorry. I should've asked someone else" Arthur said, before hugging his manservant.
:( This story had shorter chapters than my first one... Sorry! I can't think of anything to write atm, I need Relentless! (A really nice Energy Drink, it helps my write loads)
