Merlin sighed, waking from a happily-ever-after dream about Arthur and himself. He shook his head, trying to get the amazing picture out of his head. That sort of ending was impossible, for two important reasons: 1. Gay relationships were highly frowned upon in Camelot, and 2. Arthur was Royal, where as Merlin wasn't just a peasant, he was a Sorcerer! Arthur might not kill him, but it was only a matter of time before Uther found out, and then he'd die. He couldn't let himself dream like that knowing that one-day, he'd have to leave Camelot until Arthur was crowned king, and even then, he was expected to get married and have an heir. Sighing, Merlin shook his head. It was impossible.

Morgana grinned at Lancelot, as they sat in her private chambers.

"Gwen should be here so, then we can tell her how the first part of our plan went" Morgana said, as somebody knocked on the door.

"Enter"

"I'm sorry I'm late milady Morgana. I was held back in the kitchens." Gwen said, curtseying. Morgana smiled and motioned for her maidservant to sit down.

"Gwen, part one of the plan went perfectly. Arthur heard Lancelot and myself 'doing the dirty deed' and went to tell Merlin. they spent the night together on the roof of the west tower. Lancelot and I went to see what was happening... It was a sweet sight, but one i would have preferred not to see..."

Arthur smiled as he woke, remembering what had happened that night. He and Merlin had sat up at the top of the west tower for hours. After their first kiss, they had both just sat there, in complete silence for a while before their conversation started up again. It had been so easy to just sit there talking, not thinking of anything important for once. It had been a nice change from his usual thoughts of what he was going to do about this or that problem in Camelot. Sighing blissfully, Arthur sat up in bed, waiting for Merlin to arrive.

About five minutes later, Merlin arrived, and was on time for once. He was carrying a tray with Arthur's breakfast on it, and he also had a basket hanging on his arm with clean sheets and clothes in. He was walking slowly, obviously trying not to drop everything as he entered the prince's chambers and closed the door.

"Good morning, Si- Arthur." he said, blushing slightly, but smiling goofily at the same time.

"Morning Merlin" the prince said, slightly groggily. He frowned as he realised something.

"You're not late... But you're always late" he said, smiling. "I'm glad we met last night, Merlin. I've wanted to be able to do that for months." Merlin blushed a little more, but nodded

"So have I. I fell for you after our little mace fight... I didn't realise until I saved you from Lady Helen... but when i did i thought i was going crazy. i still feel like I'm dreaming, i mean your a prince! I-I'm just a servant. Nothing could ever happen, but here we are." He said, sighing happily. Arthur nodded, motioning for Merlin to sit down beside him. Merlin slowly walked over to the prince's large bed. He smiled as he sat down next to the prince, close enough that their legs were touching. Sighing contentedly, Merlin leaned his head on Arthur's shoulder. Reaching over, the prince stroked Merlin's hair absent-mindedly. Hearing a knock on the door, Merlin rushed to pick up Arthur's breakfast tray acting like he had only just arrived.

"Come in" Arthur said, and sighed as Morgana walked in.

"What do you want Morgana? Aren't you having enough fun with Lancelot?" Morgana tutted,

"I never did anything with Lancelot. It was a show to get some people together. And, it worked" she said, smirking as she walked out. Arthur was stunned- Morgana planned it? Merlin had slumped down the wall in shock as soon as the door had closed.

"B-But, how? How could she possibly know? Oh, god, has she told Lancelot? He'll tell the king, and then the king will kill me. They'll find out about what i can do, then I'm dead!" Arthur rushed over to Merlin.

"No, he won't. I won't let anyone hurt you Merlin, no one. You mean too much to me. I don't care if my father wants me to produce heirs. I'll do it to keep the kingdom from tumbling down, but it wont mean anything. I'll pretend to be in love with a woman if it protects you, but I will never let anything happen to you. I swear." Merlin nodded, looking up at the prince. He stood, before hugging Arthur.

"Thank you, Arthur. I don't know what I'd do without you"

Uther sat in the main hall of Camelot castle, fuming. Arthur was meant to meet him here almost half an hour ago.

"Leon, go and find my son. He is extremely late." he ordered the knight next to him

"Yes sire" he said, as he left the hall, rushing to the prince's chambers. Knocking twice, Leon waited, frowning as Arthur's manservant opened the door.

"King Uther requests that Arthur join him in the main hall. He was meant to arrive thirty minutes ago. Please tell him to come immediately" he said, before walking back towards where the king was waiting.

"Arthur, you father wants you to go to the main hall immediately. Apparently you were meant to be there half an hour ago." Merlin said as Arthur walked up to him.

"Dammit! I knew I'd forgotten about something. My father wanted to speak to me about something 'of great importance'. I can't believe I forgot! I'm sorry, Merlin. I have to go."

Merlin nodded, before opening the door again.

"I'll wait for you here" he said, before watching the prince rush off.

Arthur slowed down as he entered the hall.

"I apologise for being late father, I did not realise the time." he said, bowing his head before joining the king at the front of the hall, sat behind a large table.

"Arthur, I have been hearing worrying rumours about you and your manservant. People are saying two things.

One, that you and he are, involved... Romantically. And two, that he is in fact, a sorcerer."

A.N.: Oooh, a cliffy! Sorry I haven't been on for so long! I've been really busy, as its the summer holidays, and I need to prepare myself for my GCSE's :S! Anyway, I also got a really bad writer's block in the middle of this! SORRY!
