Hey guys, I'm back with a new chapter! I have been very hard at work on this fic, and this chapter quite a bit of thought. I decided to add a little bit of the magic from the Eragon series, especially when it comes to finding and activating Danny's ghost powers. I have been in love with that series since I read the first book many years back and I wanted to include a small part of it in here. If you're confused about how it works, leave a review and I'll try to explain it the best I can. Anyways, enjoy!

"Let me explain how this happened. When I was in college, about 20 years or so, I had a fascination with ghosts. I also had two friends who shared my interest in the paranormal. We had been working on a ghost portal and had nearly completed it, we were just checking a few things."
"I was examining the portal itself when that imbecile I once called a friend activated it. I was blasted in the face by a large amount of ectoplasmic energy and admitted into a hospital. Unfortunately I was stuck in the hospital for over a year while they tried to stabilize me. The only good thing that came from it is that I developed my ghost powers."
"As soon as I was released I finished my college degree. I then started working on my ghost powers, on building up my reputation and starting up my own business."
"For many years I thought I'd be the only one of my kind. That I'd go my entire life with nobody able to understand what I'm going through. Then you came along and I was ecstatic at the idea of someone just like me, a halfa. And I'm overjoyed that you want to stay with me. I can teach you so much about your ghost half and help you develop your powers."
I jumped up from where I was sitting and wrapped him in a hug. "I'd be more than happy to learn from you, thank you so much!" Vlad looked down at me and I could see the utter joy on his face.
"Well there are a few things I want to start you with. Do you mind learning a few things now or would you prefer to start tomorrow?"
I gasped excitedly, he was already going to start teaching me? "I'm still kinda tired, b-but I'm sure I can do some training."
"Alright then, let's start you off with something easy then." Vlad let me go and stepped back, transforming back into his human form. He took a seat on the couch and patted the space next to him. "Come sit down with me."
I sat down beside him and looked at him, waiting for the next part. "Alright, just close your eyes for me, and listen to my voice. I want you to clear your mind of all thoughts, emotions, and anything else. Now I want you to feel around, try to find the part that feels like it sticks out. I'm not entirely sure how it will feel like to you as it may be different than what I feel."
I tuned him out for a few seconds as I searched with my mind for what he described. Eventually I found the cold spot I had found in the library, and it seemed to fit what he described. "I found it, now what do I do?"
"I want you to focus on that one spot, get comfortable with how it feels, feel how it works inside of you. That is your ghost core, it works very much like your human heart. It pumps ectoplasm through your body when you are in your ghost form and is the source of all of your ghost powers."
""Why does it feel so cold?" I asked as I continued to feel at the spot. It felt like it had been buried in snow, yet my body didn't seem affected.
"From what I've learned from studying other ghosts and their cores, cores that have above or below average temperatures usually indicate powers over the elements. For example, I have a hot core and I have control over lightning, but hot core's can also indicate control over fire. Your core having a low temperature could mean that you have control over water, or perhaps ice. Have you gotten comfortable with your core yet?"
"Sort of, it still feels really weird."
"Then I'll leave the training there. I want you to continue focusing on your core, and get used to it. It may seem boring now, but I promise, once you've become accustomed to your core, it is much easier to access and use your powers."
I slowly retracted from the core and let all my thoughts and emotions come flooding back in. "So that's all we're doing for today?" I asked as he stood up and made his way back to the door.
"Yes Daniel, it might not seem like much, but you will be grateful that I had you do this first when we start the physical parts of training. Good night Daniel."
"Night Vlad." I responded as he left the room. I closed my eyes and cleared my mind, searching for my core how Vlad taught me. I was amazed at the feeling of the core, besides the chill of the
core, I could also feel the power thrumming within. It felt like there was a hurricane contained within the small area, that's what the power felt like to me. I sighed and let everything flow back in before opening my eyes.
I stood up and headed out of Vlad's study, heading straight to my room. I found a pair of pajamas on my bed, Vlad must have brought them for me. I would have to ask him to get me more clothes tomorrow. I grabbed them and went to my en suite bathroom, I grabbed a towel from the pantry and hung it on the towel rack. I jumped into the shower , soaped myself off and rinsed myself off. After I finished, I dried myself off and changed into my pajamas. I brushed my teeth and headed off to bed.

PoV: Jazz
My parents and I sat in the living room waiting for the police to arrive. Two days ago, something strange had happened to mom and dad's portal. Some sort of ghost got into our house and my little brother vanished. My parents are convinced that the white haired ghost had something to do with it, but I was able to convince my parents to call the police.
There was a knock on the door and my mom stood up to answer it. At the door stood to police officers."Good evening Mrs. Fenton, may we come in?"
"Good evening officers. Of course, come in, come in." The two officers walked in and mom closed the door behind them. "Would you like some tea or something to eat?"
"No thanks ma'am. We have a few questions to ask you and your husband, I will be asking you two, do you mind if my partner asks your daughter a few questions as well?"
"Of course not, go ahead."
The male officer sat down and the female officer looked at me. I stood up and led her to the kitchen. I took a seat facing the living room and the officer sat right across from me.
"So your name is Jasmine correct?" I nodded in agreement. "Do you mind if I call you Jazz?"
"Not at all." I responded.
"Alright Jazz, what can you tell me about the last time you saw your brother?"
"Two days ago my parents were working on their 'Ghost Portal' and had called us both down to come check it out. I chose to pass, I have no interest in their obsession with ghosts, and I told that to Danny when he came to see if I was coming. When the portal failed to turn on, my parents came back up, disappointed.
A few minutes later I heard a boom come from downstairs, followed by a bloodcurdling scream. My parents rushed downstairs as fast as they could and I heard shouting and shots were fired. By the time I got downstairs, the lab was in shambles. My mom was calling out for Danny and my dad kept shouting about some ghost."
"Jazz, do you think it's possible that this accident might have-"
"Don't say it, I know what you're thinking, but it would never happen. My parents may have their moments when they're not completely there, but they would never make something that could hurt me or my brother." The officer was writing things down on a notepad as I was talking.
"Had your brother shown any signs that something was wrong, or that he was considering running away?" The officer asked as she finished writing her notes.
"No, I mean, the last few days were pretty normal. He went to school to school, hung out with his friends, complained about school, did his homework and his chores." The officer scratched out a few more notes.
"Was he having any problems at school?"
"Yeah, he was kind of an outcast thanks to our parents and he would be picked on by the popular kids. I don't think that would be enough for him to run away though." After writing a few more notes in her notebook she closed it and stood up.
"Well, thank you for your help Jazz, we'll contact your parents if we find any information on your brother."
"Thanks."I told her as I stood up and offered her my hand, she took it and shook.
We walked into the living room where something similar was happening. "Thank you for your help Mr. and Mrs. Fenton. If we find any news regarding your son we'll contact you immediately."
"Thank you officer, I hope you have a good day, and hopefully you'll find something soon. Good bye." The officers headed out and my mom closed the door behind them. When they were gone my mom walked back over to us and collapsed onto the couch with a sob. "Oh my poor baby! He was snatched by some horrible ghost. Who knows what it could be doing to my Danny."
My dad wrapped his arm around my mom's shoulder and pulled her into a hug. "Don't worry Maddie. We'll find him and that spook that took him, and if it hurt our Danny we'll make it regret its decision."
I watched them for a few seconds before heading up to my room. As I passed by Danny's room I paused and looked inside for a minute before heading to my own room I changed into my pajamas and I laid down in my bed. My mind wandered to Danny again as I drifted off to sleep. 'Oh Danny, I hope you're alright, and wherever you are, that you're safe.' I thought right before I fell asleep.

Well, here's the next chapter of Runaway. I'm sorry that it's a little short, but someone had asked about what was going on with Jazz and my friends on the chat agreed that I should show how she's coming along, even for a short amount. I might check in with her again if you guys liked this part. Again, the idea for meditation is heavily based off of Eragon, and I myself have actually done it when I had free time, although I didn't search for a core or magic. Anyways, that's it for now, love it, hate it, just review it. Buh-bye!
