Time Skip: Location: Unknown Regions: Leud: Boat heading to Duel Academy:

The next day after the entrance exam, people were loading up on the boat to Duel Academy; one of them was Jaden Yuki who looked a bit different now that she had changed into the school uniform. She was now wearing the Ra Yellow uniform that seems to defy gravity by branching out at her hip. She leaves it unbuttoned so people can see her black t-shirt underneath. She also has black jeans and yellow skateboard shoes.

On her back is a backpack that holds her duel disk, a scrapbook with pictures of her entire family including Pegasus or how Joey calls him that 'Overdressed Prima Donna' or how Seto calls him 'Silver Haired Bastard' when he thinks no one hears him. Attached to her right hips are her deck boxes which ranges in colors and designs.

As Jaden was walking to the line for Ra Yellows, she noticed people looked at her with a collection of awe and confusion and she couldn't help but sigh. She knew people would be like this since she defeated Crowler and got the highest score, but didn't think it would be this soon. Is this how Dad felt when he became King of Games, she thought as she dropped off her luggage with the other's. As she stood there with the other Obelisk Blues, she heard a few girls talking about her which piqued her interest.

What are they talking about? She asked as Haou, her Yami, sighed.

They still believe you are a boy, Jaden and thus think you are hot in their eyes. Haou answered in voice that was similar to Jaden's but slightly sharper.

Almost immediately a blush came to Jaden's face as she looked at the girls, thinking that perhaps none of them had been informed about her true gender. True her personality and clothes didn't reflect it, but still that was weird. One of them had maroon hair that reached her should wearing the typical Obelisk Blue girl's uniform and her friend.

Both of them had blushes on their faces as they looked at Jaden. Jaden gulped as she thought that she had been registered as a female at Duel Academy unless…that lady that registered me didn't… Great, now I have to get my Uncle involved again… She pouted in her mind already seeing Seto's smug smile on his face.

Would you like me to take over for this? Haou asked as Jaden shook her head.

I'll handle it, Jaden thought back just before she cut the connection with her Yami. She then decided to surprise the two girls a little. "You know, if you want to talk about me, you could have just walk up to me, you know," She said with a few chuckles as the two girls 'Eeped' and tried to hide behind each other but they were failing since both kept moving to try and hide behind the other.

Good grief, I hope they have at least some dueling skills, Haou thought as she chuckled a little. Jaden watched in worry and some embarrassment as this was going on, but then turned back ahead of her as students started loading up on the ship. The way people get on the boat is rather simple, Obelisk first, Ra go second and Slifers last.

Alexis Rhodes was not having the best of days, for the past two days in fact. First she didn't get the highest score on the written exam, second another student had defeated Crowler in fewer moves then she had, third she had misplaced her boarding pass for Duel Academy so she had spent ten minutes searching for it which took a bit of time off her schedule. Then when she got to the docks to get on the boat for Duel Academy, a few guys kept hitting on her which was annoying. Finally when she went to go to the bathroom, she almost missed the boat.

It didn't help that she was being led by a crew member to the only empty seat which happened to be next to a figure that looked distinctively male, though she couldn't see his face since he seemed to be looking through his backpack for something. Great, he's probably going to be one of those fan boys and won't stop pestering me for a damn date she thought in slight disgust.

She was used to having fan boys and in some cases fan girls because of her looks and found it annoying that no matter how many times she told them 'no' they just couldn't take a hint. When she sat down, she alerted the person next to her which made his back straighten up a bit. She heard him say in what sounded like relief as he appeared to get a hold of something.

"Excuse me, miss, but can you hold this for a second," With that he pulled out a sketchbook of some kind. A bit shocked that he knew she was female without even looking, she just took it and placed it in her lap.

Eventually her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the sketchbook up and was shocked seeing the heavily detailed and different designs for what appeared to be Duel Monster cards. There was one heavily detailed and drawn design of what looked to be a human-shark hybrid with no mouth and blue eyes and in the corner of the page, someone had written 'Elemental Hero Neos', one of what looked like a Cyber Dragon that had a horn with red orbs and spikes on its body called 'Cyber Valley'.

However, the Dragon was so detailed that Alexis was worried it would jump to life from the paper. It was one drawing however that made her pause. It was a very, very detailed drawing of what looked to be a female with three different colored eyes along with purple and black skin and two dragon wings. In the drawing she had her arms wrapped around a girl from behind in an almost loving embrace.

The corner read 'Yubel's Gift' which led Alexis to believe it was either a trap or spell card. She was so caught up in looking through the sketchbook she didn't notice the person next to her watching with amusement shining through her chocolate brown eyes.

A sudden, "Like anything you see" almost jolted her from her seat and almost made her gasp in surprise if it wasn't for her willpower. As she turned to glare at the person that scared her, though she would never admit it, she froze. Looking at her with a kind smile and chocolate brown eyes was the person that defeated Crowler and got the highest written exam score. Jaden Yuki

"Well, I simply got curious, that's all," Alexis said in a cold voice. While she didn't outwardly show it, Jaden was slightly amused by Alexis's cold voice. She lived with Seto Kaiba, Bakura and Marik and their Yamis, not to mention her own, so Alexis's cold voice didn't bother her.

"Well, anyways, I'm…" Jaden got cut off when Alexis finished for her.

"Jaden Yuki, the only person to get perfect scores on both portions of the Duel Academy entrance exam," She said as Jaden blinked and then sweat-faulted as she scratched the back of her head,

"Did everyone see me duel against Crowler?"

"Yes." Alexis responded coldly.

"Alright, I can top that. You are Alexis Rhodes, top duelist of the Obelisk Blue girl's dorm and the obsession of all the boys," She said causing Alexis to become speechless for a few seconds until she asked in an angry whisper,

"Ok, wise guy. How do you know so much about me?" Jaden looked at her in the eye as she asked,

"Would you believe duel spirits told me?" Alexis looked at her and then slowly nodded as she said in a low whisper.

"Yes, I would believe a duel spirit told you. Cyber Tutu," Suddenly a pink haired girl that wore a ballerina suit appeared at her side.

'Hey there, Alexis! What's up?' The girl asked happily.

"Cyber, did you tell Jaden here about me?" Alexis demanded pointing to the girl next to her. Cyber Tutu shook her head quickly which made Alexis glare at her.

"You're positive," She inquired, not convinced.

'No, Alexis, I didn't say anything to her supreme majesty. You should ask her spirits'. Cyber Tutu huffed. Her Supreme Majesty Alexis thought

"Cyber, why are you calling Jaden that" Alexis asked stunned. Jaden chuckled as one of her duel spirits appeared by her side as they watched the exchange between human and spirit. The chuckles made Alexis glare at Jaden and then went back to talking with her duel spirit. Cyber Tutu noticed Sparkman and gasped a little making the three whipped their heads around to her.

"Cyber Tutu, what's wrong? Is Jaden scaring you?" Alexis asked.

'No, Alexis. Her supreme lordship isn't scaring me.' Cyber Tutu replied hastily as Sparkman immediately vanished before Alexis could see her.

"There you go again! Why do you call him her supreme highness or supreme lordship?" Alexis asked a little too loud. Her voice made a few of the girls and boys stare at her like she was crazy.

'I'll explain everything when we reach Duel Academy, Lexi-rama,' Cyber Tutu said with a smile.

"Shut. Up. Don't ever call me that nickname. You know I hate it," Alexis growled.

'Whatever, bye, I'll see you around, your majesty' Cyber Tutu said with a wink and a bow to Jaden. After that, she disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"What was that all about? HEY! Why are you guys staring at me?" Alexis hissed which made the girls and boys jolt and turn around. Jaden chuckled again at the outburst which made Alexis growl at her.

Four hours later, Jaden decided that instead of sitting on an uncomfortable chair she would simply go to the part of the boat that no one, except for a few people could go, the Yugi family wing which is shared by the Kaiba family. It's basically what it implies, an entire wing about two floors that is just for Yugi Muto's family and friends and Seto Kaiba's family and friends.

Of course being the daughter of Yugi Muto meant she could go there without worrying about people really caring. It was one of the few, few things she wouldn't mind using her family name for. Besides she would have to call Seto anyway to see if he could change the gender mistake Duel academy had made about her gender and clear up that mess. With her mind made up, she grabbed her backpack and stood up, drawing the attention of the blonde sitting next to him.

"Where are you going?" She demanded once she saw her about to leave. Knowing that she couldn't let anyone know that she had her own personally room or who she was relative to, Jaden had to lie

"I'm just going to walk about. It's better than to just sit in those uncomfortable seats," She said as she began to leave. Alexis looked at her with dangerously narrowed eyes. This kid was confusing her.

Then she realized something. She also didn't want to be stuck in an uncomfortable seat either. Quickly, she turned back to Jaden, only to see that she had already left. Inwardly hissing Alexis stood up and ran in the direction she knew Jaden left in.

Frowning in confusion, Alexis followed Jaden to the door that lead to the deck. She was perfectly hidden in the shadows, but Jaden was walking in full sight and drawing quite a few stares from people. However it looked that Jaden was completely ignoring them or didn't care about the looks she was getting in the slightest. Still Alexis was looking at Jaden in confusion since she knew that Jaden was far into the ship, farther than where the students had permission to go into. At the end of the ship were the higher level rooms and the penthouse.

Why would Jaden be heading this way. The bow I could understand for several reasons but not the aft. Alexis thought wondering how she knew those words, but chalked it up to her missing and strange brother. Atticus, she thought sadly as she continued to follow Jaden. Finally she stopped in front of what appeared to be a normal door, if it wasn't for the eye and hand scanner and the bodyguard in front of it. Wonder whose room this is, Alexis thought as she watched Jaden walk up to it.

"Excuse me miss, but only those authorized can enter this…" The man stopped himself from finishing his sentence when Jaden placed her hand on the scanner and had her eyes scanned by the machine. 'Authorized user detected. Welcome back Jaden Mutou'. The computer said as the door opened up and the man looked at Jaden with wide eyes that went unseen due to the black sunglasses he was wearing.

"…Ms. Mutou, I apologize. I didn't know…"

"There is nothing to forgive, Kazuki. You didn't know and I would like to keep it that way. The less people know the better," Jaden said as she began to enter the room stopping when she looked at the interior of it. It was simple yet had a very comfy feel to it that made her relax her muscles.

"Why not, ma'am, if I may ask?" Kazuki asked not even asking how Jaden knew his name.

"How would you feel if you were attempting to become a great duelist with living in the King of Games shadow?" Jaden asked as she didn't turn to face the guard.

"Yeah, I guess I can understand that, ma'am," Kazuki said while thinking that when she got old enough, she would rock the dueling world just like Yugi had before.

"Wow, I didn't think it would look like this," Jaden said as she looked around.

"What do you mean, ma'am," Kazuki asked with a raised eyebrow and inwardly chuckled when Jaden rubbed the back of her head nervously while chuckling.

"Well, last time I was on this boat, I made quite the mess from some of my work and I honestly didn't expect it to be clean," She said as Kazuki nodded,

"Have a good day, ma'am,"

"You too," Jaden said and with that the door shut and locked behind her who smiled as she fully let her muscles relax. Alright, first thing first, have to get my uncle to fix something… She thought with a pout as she talked over to the phone.

Meanwhile Alexis Rhodes was looking at where Jaden has gone into, shocked. She knew whose family owned that room and she had also heard what the computer had called Jaden and from what that bodyguard had said… It can't be…but if it this then why isn't she like most rich kids that come from a famous family who are usually spoiled brats that think they can do whatever they want, but the only time I've seen her using her family name to do anything was to get into that room. With her connections she should be in Obelisk Blue, but she is in Ra Yellow, not that her attitude and clothes would help showing that she is a girl though. I wonder why she is hiding it. Alexis thought to herself.

'That is simple, young Alexis', a deep voice said as Alexis turned to see 'Sparkman' standing next to her just as Cyber Tutu and Cyber Blader appeared at her sides.

'Sparkman, it is an honor to see you again.' Cyber Blader said as Cyber Tutu bowed a little to Sparkman.

"Why are you two bowing to him?"

'Because he is her supreme majesty most loyal and trustworthy Spirit and second in command of the Duel Spirit worlds, Lex,' Cyber Blader answered causing Alexis to glare at her.

"Alright, that's it! Tell me what is going on or else…"

'Else what, Alexis Rhodes?' Sparkman asked, 'we will tell you some and answer some questions, but most we will tell you to ask Jaden herself and dare to harm her and I'll make you wish you were never born,' He finished as Alexis gulped and decided to listen to what the Duel spirits had to say.

Time Skip: Three hours later: Location: Unknown Regions: Leud: Duel Academy port:

Looking through one of the windows on the boat taking the new first years to the Academy was Syrus Truesdale who was wearing a Red Slifer jacket with a yellow undershirt and blue pants. Sitting next to him was his newly made friend, Bastion Misawa who was currently looking over his deck. He was wearing a Ra yellow jacket and the only reason he wasn't with the others was the lack of space onboard.

Syrus, having gone through some anxiety through the entrance exam, was more than relieved once the exams were over. The same couldn't be said for Bastion or his other friend Jaden Yuki who had vanished shortly after they got on the boat. Just as he was about to look around for Jaden, a voice on the intercom caught his and the rest of the students on board attention.

"Attention first years, if you look outside your windows, you'll see your new home away from home," It said. Syrus quickly turned back to his window to get a good view, anticipation getting to him like the rest of the students on the boat.

"Now, now, I know you're excited, but don't shove," The voice said. "Next stop, Academy Island," The voice finished. Syrus smiled eager to arrive already. Thoughts on the academy popped up into his head once more. He snapped out of them the moment when Bastion placed a hand on his shoulder. Looking up he saw the boy looking down at him with a gentle smile. "Don't be nervous, Syrus. Let's just do our best and duel with honor," He said as Syrus nodded to agree.

Meanwhile: Location: Unknown Regions: Leud: Duel Academy port: Another part of the ship:

"God, what a trip, I hope the showers at our dorm have decent shampoo and conditioner," Mindy said hoarsely.

"Yeah, at least we can soak ourselves in the hot springs later after the announcement made by the Chancellor of the school," Jasmine replied.

"OH! THERE HE IS!" Mindy squealed as she turned to where the Ra Yellows were disembarking. Jaden was walking down the ramp without any hurry with her nose in her sketchbook and a pencil in her hand as if she was looking at another of her card designs. She then closed it with a satisfied smile on her face and waited to receiver her luggage as she yawned in boredom. Mindy and Jasmine immediately ran over to her and tried to get her to take an interest in one of them since they didn't know the truth yet.

"You know Jay-Jay, both me and Jazz here are single women and would LOVE to be your girlfriend," Mindy said in a seducing tone.

"Yeah, Jay, we're WAYYY hotter than the other girls," Jasmine said also in a seducing tone as Jaden blushed just as Alexis began to walk down the ramp. After those three duel spirits had finished speaking about Jaden, she had nearly fainted with shock. Her life was worst, since she had lost her father at age seven, then Alexis's was. Well, I'll help however I can, she thought as she noticed Mindy holding Jaden around her waist and inwardly sweat-faulted. I however have to wonder how those two would react to the truth about Jaden. She thought as she walked towards them.

Alexis heard both Jasmine and Mindy giggle as they wrapped their arms around Jaden who was trying her hardest to get out of their grip with a red face. She sighed, deciding to help out the girl by shouting at the top of her lungs, "JAZZ AND MINDY! IT'S TIME TO SEE OUR NEW HOME!" Jasmine and Mindy jolted but not in the direction Alexis wanted. They jolted right into Jaden and she fell backwards and hit the ground a thud and lay there with the two girls on top of her. Alexis sighed again as she shook her head.

"Girls, Jaden has to go to his dorm room and you'll see him in class tomorrow," She said sternly. The two girls untangled themselves from Jaden's body and, giggling as they waved goodbye, walked to their new home. Alexis rubbed her fingers against her temples.

"What am I going to do with those two girls?" She asked aloud.

"You could tell them that unlike how they might think, I am not interested in dating anyone," Jaden said as she slowly stood up with a blush still on her face since that was very strange.

"Good point, but I think that is something better coming from you and it is personal, don't you think?"

"I guess," Jaden pouted a little.

"So I guess we'll be seeing each other in class," Alexis said to her.

"I hope so, see ya, Alexis," Jaden said happily as she started to walk towards the main Academy building and disappeared from Alexis's view.

Sometime later within the main Academy building, the new students were lined up facing a large rectangular screen with the Academy's insignia. All were wearing one of three colored blazers each. Some students had yellow, few blue and most of them had red which included Syrus. The screen made a small sound as an image of a man with a red colored jacket appeared on the monitor. He wore a big smile as he welcomed the new Academy students.

"Welcome dueling Elites. I'm Chancellor Sheppard, the headmaster here. You all used your skills to open the narrow admission gates." Syrus listened to the headmaster closely, getting the feeling that he was going to be asked what he said sometime later by Jaden. Speaking of the girl, she was standing right behind the blue haired boy, asleep and breathing softly as a small nose bubble deflated and inflated out of one of her nostrils. Syrus sighed mentally. At least he's not snoring He thought. The Chancellor continued on with his speech,

"Please have fun studying…" As Sheppard was talking, Jaden's Millennium Armband suddenly lite up for a second suddenly waking Jaden up with wide eyes right afterwards. "…In hopes of becoming the next King of…" Sheppard was cut off as a loud shriek interrupted him. The shriek came directly from Jaden, surprising Syrus as he was right in front of the brunette.

"Damn it. My Elemental Heroes have been annihilated!" She shrieked.

"…Games?" Sheppard asked.

There was a moment of silence as everyone stared at Jaden who had her head in her hands until she realized she was being stared at. She looked at everyone awkwardly before stopping at Syrus. Syrus didn't know what to say, however, he, like the rest of the students tried not to laugh. However, resistance was futile as one small 'pfft' from a snicker caused everyone to burst into laughter, including the Chancellor. There was a small select few of which who didn't laugh at Jaden's outburst, one included Bastion Misawa who was sighing at the immaturity of the students and the chancellor. Though aside from that, he was intrigued with Jaden, taking a slight interest in the younger girl. Things might just be interesting with him around, Bastion thought as he crossed his arms. Chancellor Sheppard, having stopped laughing, smiled at the students.

"Well, I'd say that's a good start. Now, I won't bore you anymore with my talking, so you may go to your assigned dorms and get settled in. I'll think you'll find them quite comfortable…depending on how you ranked, of course." With a final laugh, Sheppard dismissed the students. Jaden had a confused look on her face since she was confused about what the Chancellor had meant by 'How you ranked'. She knew that the Obelisk Blue was the rich kids, but the dorms shouldn't be that much of a different between them other than the girl's dorm that was part of Obelisk Blue.

However, just as the students were about to exit the room to head to their dorms, Chancellor Sheppard spoke up again, "Just a minute." He spoke stopping the students from leaving as they all turned back to look at the monitor as Chancellor Sheppard smiled at them.

"Professor Crowler will you please escort Jaden Yuki to my office? There are some things I need to discuss about with that student," Sheppard said. Syrus could swear he felt the wrath of the professor mentioned emanating at the mention of the name 'Jaden'. The same did not apply to Jaden, who seemed to be oblivious of how the professor felt about her. Jaden inwardly smiled at that since she knew that her Uncle Seto had informed Sheppard about the mistake on her forms and that she was related to the man in some way.

As long as no one knows that he is my Uncle, I'll be fine. I need to remain hidden in the sense of who my father and who my family is for now and get the skills I need to find my father, Jaden thought for once in a serious matter. Haou agreed. They would make friends and all that stuff and have fun in their duels, but in the end it was up to them to find their father no matter where he is. Unlike Jaden, however, Haou was colder and knew how Crowler felt about her, but unless he did something stupid again, she wouldn't either.

"I'll meet up with you later, ok." Jaden asked Syrus who nodded and watched as Jaden walked over to Crowler who was sneering a little.

Moments later, Jaden was following Crowler down a hall as she had her hands behind her head. Crowler gritted his teeth having to escort the happy-go-lucky student. Having been defeated and not to mention humiliated by her during the exams, Crowler held a grudge against the student for that exact reason. Although there was one side of him that was completely filled with joy having been there when the brown-haired girl let out her outburst during the chancellor's speech since there was a chance that Jaden was being called up to see the Chancellor for that exact reason.

The word 'expulsion' echoed in Crowler's head as he laughed mentally. Jaden yawned loudly, tears welding up in her eyes she shut said eyes and opened her mouth wide to take a deep breath, not noticing Crowler's annoyance at her actions. She rubbed her eyes as Crowler's eye twitched slightly from a certain thought that came into mind. Crowler found Jaden's motion rather annoying, though almost cute.

Almost until he realized who he was thinking about and immediate began to ignore the student's presence. He continued to do that until he and Jaden reached the entrance to Sheppard's office. With a small wave at the professor, Jaden smiled and ran up to the chancellor who was currently sitting by his deck with papers in his hands. Of course Jaden also noticed how simple the office looked and the modestly it held, almost like her uncle's or Pegasus's to be honest.

Sheppard greeted the girl and quickly began to bring up the topic of his discussion. "Jaden, I received a call from you Uncle." He finished the last word in a tone of voice that told Jaden that he had been shocked to learn who her Uncle really was. She chuckling nervously at that as she stretched the back of her neck knowing that that wasn't a pleasant experience for the Chancellor, but Sheppard just continued without even a sigh to show how he felt about it, "And he mentioned something about your registration forms…"

"So the mistake on my registration form has been corrected?" She asked with a smile while inwardly pouting that she had to get her uncle involved and on the first day of Duel Academy as well in order to fix something that was actually highly common for her. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened and I seriously doubt it will be the last She thought in a somewhat annoyance. Though she was very used to it, it was still annoying.

"Yes," Sheppard said remembering what Seto Kaiba had said about his goddaughter and everything else.

"However, it's going to take a while to fix this mistake," Sheppard said as Jaden nodded since she knew that was the case from the beginning when she learned about the mistake on her forms.

"As for your assigned dorm…" Sheppard began but was interrupted by the girl in question.

"I will remain in Ra Yellow until I have earned the right to join Obelisk Blue solely on my grades and dueling skills, Chancellor with all due respect. I won't enter Obelisk Blue with anything but the skill and grades needed to be there." Jaden said in a tone of voice that left no room for arguments.

"However, can you mind letting me stay in the same dorm as Syrus Truesdale is staying in?" Jaden asked.

"I'd rather stick close to my friend solely for the reason that he seems to have low confidence in himself," Jaden said as her Yami chuckled at the thoughts she was thinking about dueling a certain Obelisk Blue student.

"Very well," Sheppard said after staring at Jaden for a few moments with a thought popping up in mind. "You may, though your current room will be temporary and you will still be in Ra Yellow. You'll get your official room in a few weeks," Jaden nodded with a smile at that.

"Thank you, sir." She said as Sheppard then dismissed her. Jaden proceeded to walk out of Sheppard's office, pasting Crowler on the way. Dr. Crowler's curiosity got the better of him and he walked over to Sheppard asking,

"What was that about?" Sheppard straightened up Jaden's papers as he sighed,

"Oh nothing. Just a little mistake with the registration forms."

"May I ask what it was?" Crowler asked as he crossed his arms.

"You may," Sheppard nodded as he began to speak.

A few moments later as Jaden dashed out of the building, a loud exclamation of surprise echoed through the halls. Jaden sweat-faulted at it as she exited the building and then spotted her friend Syrus sitting on a pedestal of some sort a few feet outside the building looking at his PDA. Smiling, Jaden rushed over to Syrus and tapped him on his shoulder.

Syrus looked up at that and smiled when he saw Jaden, "Hey, Jaden, What was all that about?" He asked as Jaden just shrugged and walked over to the opposite side of the pedestal Syrus was sitting on.

"Just a small mistake on the registration form," She said. Then she grinned when she spotted Bastion walking up. She immediately grabbed Syrus's arm and dragged him over to the boy who was wearing a yellow jacket.

"Hey, Number two, you're a Ra like me then," She called out as she drew to a stop in front of the taller boy. He gave a small smile and nodded.

"Yes and Syrus here is a Slifer. Have you seen your dorm yet?" He asked politely as Syrus shook his head.

"Ah, then Ichiban-kun would you like to come with me to the Ra yellow dorms?" He asked as Jaden shook her head.

"Nan, I'll head with Sy to see the Red Slifer dorms then head to the yellow dorms," She informed him as Bastion gave a small nod,

"Then I'll see you later," He stated giving them a small wave and turning to head towards his dorm. Jaden grinned as she waved after him before turning to Syrus, "Let's go,"

When they arrived at the Slifer Red Dorm, Jaden smiled as she darted up the wooden steps and around to the back of it, standing on the deck and leaning over the railing slightly as she stared into the beautiful sea. "What is this?" Syrus asked. "Is the Slifer Red dorm the only dorm that sucks?" He asked as Jaden turned her head and smiled at Syrus,

"Oh, really? Have you seen the view." She asked as she grabbed the boy and darted forward to the back so that he could see over the railings. "This place has a great view, and you can feel the breeze! There is more than enough area in the front for duels. This place is great. It's got appeal," Syrus smiled very faintly.

"Well, the view is good," He admitted after a minute. Jaden grinned at that and darted back to the front of the dorm, opening the door of Syrus's room.

"Alright, this one's your room Sy," She stated as she stepped to the side slightly so Syrus could see. The small boy frowned slightly,

"It's a bit small," He mumbled as Jaden laughed,

"Well, we're small," She stated causing Syrus to smile very slightly. Jaden then walked into the room, looking around with a small grin on her lips.

"I really like it. It's like my room, only without the mess," She chuckled. "Yeah, kind of weird though, meeting at the entrance exams and now friends," Syrus said. "Think we were somehow connected to each other in an ancient life Jaden," He asked excitedly. "You know, like you were an Egyptian Pharaoh and I was a high Priest? Should I call you, Pharaoh, Jaden?"

Jaden outwardly giggled softly at that covering her mouth with her hand to try and control herself before she managed to choke out, "I don't think so, Sy." She began, before her smile dropped into a dead serious frown, "In fact, I severely doubt it," She said as she turned to face the boy as he looked down towards the floor, slightly disappointed as he mumbled, of which Jade was barely able to hear.

"Well, it could be true,"

"Forget it, we're way cooler than that," Jaden said with a smile. Syrus's gaze turned to be fixed on the floor underneath the two,

"Maybe you are," He mumbled causing Jaden to sigh out loud.

"Sy, we have to work on your confidence," Jaden said inwardly shaking her head. "Also, please don't call me that, it's too weird," She said as she ruffled Syrus's hair who shrugged a little since he didn't know the true reason of why Jaden didn't want to be called Pharaoh.

"How about Aniki?" Syrus suggested as Jaden blinked.

"There's no social standing among duelists, just rivals. Besides, I'm fine with just Jaden." Syrus looked down.

"But it really suits you," He said sighing as Jaden smiled awkwardly and scratched the side of her head idly with her finger.

"We'll talk about it later," She said as she walked over towards the windows, "But, first let's get some light in here," She said as she walked over to the window and opened the curtains.

At the moment that the sunlight entered the room, a loud irritated voice suddenly snapped, "Hey! Those were closed for a reason," making Jaden jump slightly as she span around and looked up at the top bunk. She hadn't seen or even heard anyone in the room nor the sound of them breathing in and out. Nor had Syrus for that matter. But Syrus was quick to apologize while Jaden just looked up at the top bunk.

"Oh, sorry," He gasped out as Jaden laughed rubbing the back of her head embarrassedly,

"Yeah, we didn't see you up there," She said slowly as she waited for that person to reveal himself. The person in bed, obviously a boy due to his deep voice, spoke again,

"So a couple of new students full of dreams huh?" He asked in something that Jaden would say was a calm, but sad tone of voice. The person residing on the top bunk slowly pulled off the covers and turned to his side and then looked down at his new roommates with a frown on his face.

Jaden and Syrus looked closely at the boy who was about 17 years ago and on the big side, not exactly fat, but big boned. He had brown eyes, black hair and a big nose. Jaden and Syrus stared at the older boy, taking in how his build, face and hairstyle resembled that of a koala's. A silhouette of a koala-themed duel monster appeared in the boy, showing a shocking resemblance. Syrus shrieked and embraced the gender mistaken Ra yellow as he stated at the boy wide-eyed.

"DES KOALA" He yelled as Jaden sweat-faulted, even if she was giggling inwardly, and the boy glared at him.

"Don't call me a koala. I'm your roommate, Chumley Huffington!" Jaden sighed after that as she looked down at the boy embracing her,

"Syrus, let go of me,"

"Oh, right, sorry," Syrus said awkwardly as Jaden looked at Chumley. "Sorry, I'm Syrus Truesdale." Syrus said. "Nice to meet you,"

"And actually you're his roommate. I'm only here to help him get settled. I'm in Ra Yellow," Jaden said Chumley looked at the girl shocked, seeing that her uniform was that of a Ra Yellow and not a Slifer.

"A Ra Yellow being here without a care like he got demoted. Looks like Ra Yellow have its share of unusual folks, as well." Chumley said shaking his head slightly.

"Why do you say that?"

"Most Ra Yellows, while they aren't as bad as Obelisks, are snobbish sometimes and rude to us Slifer Reds."

"Huh?" Syrus asked confused.

"You're new alright, so let me tell you how things work here," Chumley stated obviously annoyed as Syrus frowned in confusion.

"What things, like when parent's weekend is going to be?" He asked innocently as inwardly Jaden face-palmed. Chumley rolled his eyes,

"No, like how the colors work, that's the most important thing."

"I think he means what the 'Red' in 'Slifer Red' means, Sy," Jaden said as she crossed her arms.

"You've got three different kinds of students here, Obelisk Blue, Ra yellow and Slifer red. The blues are the highest ranked students from the prep-schools, but most of them are blue not for their grades, but through their connections." Chumley said as Jaden gave a small laugh at that,

"They would wet themselves if they knew my connections," She mumbled, a little too loudly because Chumley sat up straight and stated at her with narrowed eyes and Syrus tilted his head in confusion.

"What do you mean, Aniki," He asked lightly as the young girl's eyes widened in shock and she blushed slightly,

"Well, let's just say that my godfather is a Pro duelist and leave it at that. I don't rely on him for help because I fight my own battles."

"Huh," Syrus and Chumley asked as Jaden's blush got worst.

"I believe in my cards strength right to the end, unit the last card is played, and believe in the heart of the cards and I fight my own battles. I rely on my own strength, not on the strength of someone who I am related to. Those Obelisks need to learn that since all of them depend on their moms and dads for help," Jaden said as Chumley nodded.

"That is refreshing," He said since from what he knew every Obelisk Blue were snobbish because of the rich or well-known families they came from, but Jaden wasn't, even with a Pro as a Godfather.

"As I was saying, though, the Obelisks think they're better than everyone else mainly because of what Jaden said." Chumley said.

"Other than the female students in Obelisk or at least they shouldn't be like that since all of the female duelists here are placed in obelisk blue regardless of their scores in the written exam, practical exam, or connections," Jaden said with her arms crossed as Chumley and Syrus looked at her confused, but Chumley just continued,

"Then there are the Ra yellows, like Jaden is who got good marks in their exams. They're mostly younger students with lots of potential and then there are us, Syrus, the Slifers. We're the bottom of the heap. Everyone looks down on us because our exam scores are so low," He stated simply. "It's a beat-up gathering place for the dropouts with horrible grades. Those that have been sent here never had a future from the get-go," Chumley said as Jaden crossed her arms as Syrus frowned.

"Well, then, I wonder how Yugi would think if he knew that those who begin at the dorm that represents the first God Card he got in Battle City think of themselves,"

"Aniki…" Syrus began.

"I think you all need a good kick in the pants, but again what should I know? I'm a Ra Yellow," With that, Jaden walked towards the door but not before saying.

"Sy, don't let Chum's attitude get you down. If you just believe in yourself, your cards and keep a cool head and think about all of your options in a duel, then I'm sure you'll do fine." With that, Jaden left the Slifer Red dorms.

Jaden was walking around the campus with Syrus at her side. After she left the Slifer Red dorms, Syrus had ran after her. Syrus let out another sigh. "You're still feeling down, huh," Jaden asked as Syrus looked at the ground.

"A little,"

"Slifer is one of the strongest monsters in duel monsters meaning it equal power to the other two God Cards, the Battle City Finals should have proved that." Jaden said coldly, since Slifer was upset that the students that went to the dorm named after him were so hopeless, as Syrus still looked unsure.

"Besides, the year hasn't even started yet so how can the Slifer Reds be the worst?" She asked him pausing to give him a small smile when he started to perk up and nod,

"Yeah, you're right Aniki. Red is for red hot! Scorching! Dangerous! Hot! I'm like a furnace," He declared as Jaden frozen, her head spinning to face the other direction as she sensed something. Immediately she grabbed Syrus's arm and dragged him along with her as she ran.

"…What…" He gasped out,

"Where are we going?" He asked as he was pulled along by the young girl. Jaden grinned brightly,

"There's a duel!" She yelled excitedly, "I can sense it," She explained shortly causing Syrus to stare in shock as they got inside the main Academy building and Jaden let go of Syrus's arm. The young girl was leading the shorter boy though the corridors with ease as she stated warmly, "It's this way, Sy," as Syrus followed her with wide eyes.

"How can you know?" He asked slightly confused, "Do you have some kind of sixth sense for dueling or something?" He questioned as Jaden gave a light laugh at that.

"Or something…" She told him lightly. At that she heard laughter from inside her mind and Haou, her Yami, decided to speak again, Really Jaden, 'or something?' The young girl paused for a second causing Syrus to send her a concerned look. 'Shut up, Haou,' she retorted as Haou laughed. No, you might it so easy. At this Jaden started to walk again slightly annoyed with her Yami, but not enough to let it show. Then she shot Syrus a smile as they wandered into a huge area. Syrus's eyes widened in shock and awe, "Are we even allowed to be in here?" He asked nervously.

"I don't see why not, Sy. We're students here too," Jaden stated with a smile as Syrus nodded slowly.

"I guess. It looks completely state of the art," He said with his voice filled with awe and Jaden was forced to resist the urge to laugh knowing that it would confuse Syrus and make him ask questions she really didn't want to answer. "I bet it would be pretty cool to duel here. Do you want to test it?" She asked and then grinned as he nodded. At that second a voice yelled,

"You aren't allowed to duel here, this is the Obelisk Campus," At this both Jaden and Syrus turned to see two tall boys in Obelisk Blue uniforms stalking over to the duo glaring at them. The one who had spoken had an incredibly annoying and high pitched voice.

Jaden immediately stood up straight as her eyes flashed gold for a second as she moved into a defensive stance as the other boy sneered, "And you and your Slifer red reject aren't welcome here, ya got that?" His voice was deeper and rather dopey sounding. Jaden smirked at that as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Ah, well, if it isn't Grumpy and Dopey," She said as the first boy's eyes widened and the other boy frowned in confusion.

"Don't make fun of us, you Ra scum," The high pitched voiced boy spat as he clenched his fist. Syrus's eyes widened and he let out a startled yelp,

"Jaden, don't make them mad," The small boy was clinging to her arm. Jaden ruffled his hair and shot him a small smile.

"It's ok, Sy. I can deal with the likes of them," She stared confidently as both of the boy's eyes widened.

"Hey, Chazz, it's that kid who beat Dr. Crowler," The dopey voiced boy called out.

"Everyone, just calm down," Another voice said as another tall pale boy wearing an Obelisk Blue blazer appeared and glared down at the duo. "That guy is better than the two of you. He defeated Crowler, but still… You," He said pointing at Jaden, "I'll prove that your victory against Crowler was plainly luck and a fluke so I'll challenge you to a duel," He said as Jaden grinned,

"What makes you think you'll fare any better than him? At any rate, I accept your challenge." She said as Chazz slowly made his way towards the dueling arena.

As the two faced each other, Jaden asked, "I always want to know the name of my opponent, so I presume you are Chazz…?" Chazz overheard Jaden's question as he growled, gritting his teeth as he glared at the Ra Yellow. The annoying high pitched guy glared at her for that.

"He's Chazz Princeton and he was the number one duelist at duel prep school, so you make sure and pay the proper respect, got it?" He asked as he made Jaden smile mockingly.

"I'm so sorry, but your voice is so annoying it make me go temporarily deaf," She stated sarcastically. Both of the idiot boys glared at her as the dopey one snapped "He's going to be the King of Games one day,"

"Bull," Jaden snorted with eyes narrowed and her fists clenched, but none of the three boys noticed it.

"What is?"

"You don't stand a hope in hells chance," She spat out. "I got the highest written score and defeated your headmaster of Obelisk Blue and his best monster. If anyone is number 1, it's me, but still. No one," Jaden hissed out with some tears in her eyes. All three Obelisks eye widened at that as the young girl stopped the tears from flowing. "No one will ever be as great as Yugi was!" She yelled before activating her Duel disk and then placing her deck in it. Chazz copied her movements and got ready to duel. "Shall we begin or are you scared?"

"Hey, what are all of you doing?" A voice asked that Jaden knew and she smiled at least inwardly since her mind was focused on making sure she didn't crack. Haou was ready to take over at a moment's notice just in case through. Immediately everyone, but Jaden, turned to see Alexis Rhodes walking towards them with her arms crossed under her well-endowed chest.

Oh, no, she's in trouble yet again, Alexis thought recognizing the person that Chazz was about to duel. Though seeing him get his ass handed to him would be awesome, she finished thinking.

"Alexis, you come to see me wiping the floor with our new Ra yellow and his Slifer Red friend?" Chazz asked as Alexis glared at him and then the others.

"It's time for the welcoming party at the dorms to start," She said as everyone, but Jaden, paled at that.

"Aniki" Syrus yelled out in worry since he didn't want to miss that and knew they had to leave and soon.

"Fine, we'll finish this later," Chazz said as he deactivated his duel disk. Slowly, Jaden did the same, but her expression was still tensed and her body was shaking.

"Whatever," She yelled before spinning around on her heel and running away from them. She heard Syrus calling after her, but she ignored him as she fled.

"Aniki," Syrus yelled.

"Syrus, I'll talk to him, you better get to your dorm," Alexis called out as Syrus nodded and Alexis turned to follow the Ra yellow wondering what had happened to have caused that.

Jaden was sitting on the edge of one of the many cliffs, crying softly as she wrapped her arms around herself. It had been eight years and she still wasn't over it. Jaden was so distracted that she didn't notice Alexis following her until she laid a hand on her shoulder and sat down next to her. "Are you ok?" She asked gently as Jaden looked up, wiping her tears away quickly.

"I-I-I'm fine," She stammered out, her eyes going wide when Alexis silently handed her a tissue,

"You don't really look it, Jaden-Chan," She stated as Jaden looked at her shocked, but a simple nod from the Obelisk Blue told her all she need to know.

"So you know," She said.

"The Chancellor told me since I was supposed to take you around the Obelisk Dorms if you wanted to join the dorm."

"I don't," Jaden chuckled, but then sighed, "God, I bet I look like a mess," She muttered causing Alexis to laugh softly as she shook her head.

"Not really. I mean you can tell you've been crying, but I've seen worse." She informed her reassuringly as Jaden blushed again, biting her lip.

"Thanks, but why are you here?" She asked slowly as Alexis laughed warmly.

"I saw you running, looking upset so I followed you," She said.

"I appreciate it," Jaden said with a grateful smile.

They both sat there for a moment before Alexis suddenly asked "If you don't mind me asking, what got you so upset?" Jaden looked down at that as she bit her lip.

"Chazz Princeton said something that hit a nerve, a very raw and painful one," She whispered as Alexis smiled sadly.

"It sucks when that happens. I don't know what I'd do if someone said something about my brother…" She trailed off sighing as Jaden tilted her head in confusion, "Your brother," She asked lightly. "Atticus. He went missing while he was at the Academy," Alexis sighed. "I'm going to find him one day," She said with confidence filling her voice.

Jaden's eyes widened in shock and she hesitated for a moment before slowly saying, "My Dad…It was my dad that went missing. Maybe we can help each other find them," The blonde girl smiled back as she nodded,

"You're one of the only few I've told about my brother," She said softly.

"Other than my family, no one knows that my Dad disappeared," Jaden said after a little laugh.

"Thanks for confiding in me," Alexis smiled. She'll tell me the rest on her own, she thought. "I know how hard it can be to talk about that sort of thing." Jaden nodded before blushing scarlet when her stomach rumbled loudly.

Alexis laughed loudly as she looked over at Jaden. "We should go to the dinners. Who knows, maybe there'll be food left." At that Jaden blushed brighter and nodded.

"Thanks Alexis," She said before standing up. She held her hand out to the other girl who took it with a smile as she was helped up.

"It's fine, see you around Jaden," She said giving a small nod before turning and walking away towards her dorms.
