At the Obelisk Blue dorms, an elegant party was being held in both the boys and girls dorm in their main dining rooms. It was something seen in a billionaire's party. In the Ra Yellow dorm, it was the same kind of party, but more toned down with only a single table of exquisite food. However, in Slifer Red, the duelists there had a few strange looks at their food which consisted of a bowl of white rice, a plate of sardines, another bowl of soup and a dish of peaches.
"What is this?" Everyone in the room asked. "This is our big welcome dinner?"
"The other dorms are having an incredible feast!"
"And to make things worse, our headmaster isn't even human!" Everyone focused their gaze on a fat cat with light brown, somewhat orange-tinged, fur and dark stripes curled up on a table, asleep. He woke up and stretched out, letting out a loud yowl. Afterwards, it curled back onto the table, everyone's gaze still focused on it.
"He's a cat…?" The cat looked at everyone just as the sounds of footsteps caught their attention to look back at where the cat was.
Soon a tall, young man, wearing a white dress shirt with a dusky-red necktie, black pants, and a belt, popped out from behind the drapes hanging over the doorway. He seemed to be about 23 years old and had a kind expression on his face and long black hair pulled into a ponytail with his hangs framing his face.
Everyone within the room started at him with questions. The man waved at them welcomingly. "Hello, children, I'm your dorm master, Dr. Banner and in class I'll be in charge of alchemy, pleased to meet you all," He said in a German accent. Then there came a knock on the door as it slowly opened and Jaden walked in with a smile. She immediately blushed when everyone looked up and stared at her, including Dr. Banner who smiled warmly.
"Ah, you must be Jaden Yuki. Your friend was worried about you," He said gesturing to Syrus who jumped up quickly.
"Are you ok, Jaden?" He asked, his voice thick with concern as Jade nodded quickly, "Yes, I'm fine, Sy."
"Now Jaden, aren't you supposed to bet at your dorm at their welcoming party?" Banner asked as Jaden shrugged.
"I've had enough of the plushy lifestyle to last me two lives. I can't take another and I wanted to let Syrus know that I was alright," Jaden said.
"Wait, you know this Ra Yellow?" One of the other students asked as Syrus nodded.
"Yeah, he was with me when I came to the dorm."
"But still is there a problem of a Ra Yellow being friends with a Slifer?" Jaden asked in a tone of voice that made many of the students believe that the wrong answer meant a world of pain.
"No, it's just…most of them look down on us,"
Jaden laughed at that."Don't worry. I don't look down on anyone, especially another duelists."
"Alright then, Mr." Banner stressed as Jaden's eyes narrowed for a second until she realized that he knew as well. "Yuki, would you like something to eat?" He asked as Jaden nodded and darted over to the table where Chumley was sitting at and began to devour the food, occasionally taking a break to gasp out, "God, so delicious," and "more food!"
"Jaden, that's tasteless," Syrus said,
"Really," Jaden asked as she swallowed. "It's awfully delicious to me!" At this Jaden picked up another fish with her chopsticks and placed it in her mouth as if to prove her point. Syrus sighed and continued to stare at Jaden as the girl continued eating,
"T…that's not what I meant. The professor was still introducing himself…" Syrus stopped once he noticed that Banner had walked up to be in front of the boy's table. Syrus looked nervously at the professor while Jaden was still clueless as she placed another fish in her mouth. It took her only a few seconds to realize why Syrus was quiet. When she looked up, fish partially in her mouth and partially hanging out, she knew why.
Jaden sweat-faulted as Banner looked down at her as Banner chuckled a bit at the look Jaden gave him which he found rather cute and decided to ruffle the girl's hair, not being able to resist. Jaden blinked and chewed on her fish, staring questioningly at the dorm head like the rest of the Slifer Red residents. "Don't mind a bit. I'll leave you to your food,"
Meanwhile in a specific room, Syrus was pouring hot tea into three mugs as Jaden let out a content sigh. "Man, I'm full," Jaden said completely satisfied. Syrus smiled as he continued to pour tea into the mugs. Jaden, sitting on the carpet and leaning back against the wall, let out another sigh as she rubbed her full stomach.
"I'm stuffed, why didn't you eat all of yours?" He asked as Syrus placed the teapot down and looked back at Jaden with a smile.
"You were the only one who got a second helping," He said picking up the tray holding the three tea-filled mugs.
"It was pretty good," Jaden grinned a she sat herself upright against the wall as Syrus handed his respective mug. "Thank you," Jaden said taking the mug and then saying,
"I officially love it here. Professor Banner's such a good cook."
"Chumley, tea" Syrus asked as he looked up at Chumley. The older boy scowled at that as he snapped,
"Did I say I was thirsty?" He asked rudely causing Jaden's eyes to narrow,
"He just asked you a question. You don't need to be so rude" She snapped back as she was about to pull out her sketchbook. "Syrus even went to all that trouble to brew it up and everything,"
"It's ok, Aniki," Syrus said as he waved it off.
Chumley, his face buried into his pillow, retorted, "Tea makes you wet the bed," Jaden rolled her eyes at that about to open her sketchbook, "Not that I do or ever did…I mean, whatever, I'm trying to sleep." Chumley rambled.
Almost immediately afterwards, Jaden's PDA rang, alerting said owner of a message of some sort. Blinking, Jaden pulled the PDA out of its pouch on her hip and looked at the message she got, after placing her sketchbook away again. "It's from Chazz," She hissed as she pressed a button and the message, a small video recording from Chazz, began to play.
"Yo, dropout boy," It began in Chazz's voice, "I'll be waiting on the duel field at midnight. We'll duel with the Ante Rule with both of our best cards at stake. Come on, if you've got the guts." With that, the video message ended and Jaden's eyes were narrowed, but she also had a smile on her face.
"Things have gotten interesting,"
"That pep of his ends here," Chumley, having overhead the whole message as he looked over his shoulder at Jaden, said just before rolling onto his side to get more comfortable. Jaden just smiled brightly as she went to get her duel disk before grabbing onto Syrus's hand as she said,
"Come on, Sy," beginning to drag the poor boy with her towards the door.
"Wait, Aniki," Syrus yelled.
"What are you talking about?" Jaden asked turning the door knob and beginning to push the door open.
"This is a duel! A real duelist should accept any challenge delivered to him or her."
"But…" Syrus trailed off after looking down at the floor. Jaden closed her eyes as she began to make her way out…
Only to bump into someone who had happened to be standing right outside the door. Jaden yelped and let go of Syrus's hand to try and regain her balance, having lost it from bumping into the person. Thankfully, the person she bumped into helped her out by grabbing onto her outstretched hand.
"Careful, wouldn't want you to fall and hurt yourself, now would we?" Jaden laughed and rubbed the back of her head as she was adjusted into a standing position. "Thanks, sorry about bumping into you, Professor Banner."
"Not a problem," Banner said with a smile. "Now what's this about an Ante Rule duel in the duel fields at midnight?" He asked as Jaden froze and looked up at Banner, having been a good amount of height shorted than him. The professor looked down at her, keeping his smile. "You should know that Ante Rule dueling is prohibited in this Academy and the rules say no off-hour arena duels. What would your Uncle think, especially if he finds out you get into trouble for sneaking out of your dorm at midnight to duel a fellow student, a male one no less?" Banner asked.
Jaden was taken aback from what the professor had told her as Haou's eyes went wide from her Soul room. Immediately Winged Kuriboh appeared by her side just in case as Jaden gulped. She had no idea there were rules about that and if her Uncle even found out about that…
Jaden gulped and placed her head in her hands as Winged Kuriboh and Haou looked at her from their locations a little in worry since they had figured out the same thing. "He'll take me out of Duel Academy regardless of what I told him!" She wailed. Banner nodded, noticing the perplexed look on Chumley's face, having watched the whole thing out of pure interest and Syrus, having been concerned for Jaden. Seeing as it was just Jaden's first day here, Banner smiled and ruffled the girl's hair.
"Since it's just your first day here, you'd probably didn't have enough time to read the rules and because first impressions are always important, I'll let it slide." He said even if he wasn't Jaden's dorm head master, he still had a say since she was in his dorm. Jaden blinked at that as she took her head out of her hands to look at the professor, surprised, but she wasn't the only one. Chumley and Syrus were looking at Banner surprised as well.
"Really" She asked as Banned nodded and moved to the side to let Jaden go.
"Of course, just don't get caught you two," He said as Syrus blinked owlishly as Jaden pumped her fist into the air.
"Wait…you two…" Syrus repeated "What do you mean by…" His question was cut off and answered as Jaden grabbed onto his hand and dragged him out of the room. Banner and Chumley watched as Jaden dragged Syrus away. After they were gone, the professor looked at the older Slifer Red Student, having noticed his earlier perplexity.
"Yes, what is it?" Professor Banner asked.
Jaden continued to run and drag Syrus with her, even after having entered the main Academy building. It was only until they were close to the duel field that Jaden slowed down her pace and let go of Syrus's hand. Syrus sighed as he followed Jaden since it was pointless to head back now. "I can't believe Professor Banner let us go, Aniki," He said as Jaden nodded and began to take a left turn as she placed her duel dick onto her left arm.
"Neither did I. Boy, Professor Banner is a nice guy," She said as Syrus nodded with another sigh, "I hope we don't get caught…"
"Don't worry," Jaden said as she waved the issue off, mentally asking several of her duel spirits to keep an eye out for anyone coming towards them during the duel. "We won't get caught as long as I'm around…"
"Ha, you really came, number 165," A voice interrupted Jaden. Jaden and Syrus stopped realizing that they were now in the duel field. They looked around and spotted Chazz with his group in the center of the room on the platform. Chazz had his arms crossed, his duel disk on his left arm.
"I had no reason not to come, once I'm told about a duel," Jaden smiled holding up her left arm where her duel disk resided before beginning to walk towards Chazz. "Aniki" Syrus cried out as he trailed after Jaden, slightly worried about this duel.
A few moments later, Chazz and Jaden were facing each other on the opposite sides of the duel field, each ready for the duel to begin. "You're going to show me either the dumb luck or the skill that beat Dr. Crowler." Chazz said.
"It was skill and I want to see just how skilled the elites of Duel academy are," Jaden said.
"Listen up," Chazz laughed with a smile, "We'll be using the Ante Rule…"
"Putting both our best cards at stake, I know. I'm from Domino City, everyone there knows about the Battle City Tournament." Jaden interrupted with a smiled, annoying Chazz slightly with his optimism, but not enough to make the raven-haired elite duelist case his grin. "I am ready for anything." Both duelists shifted their duel disk from standby to active mode, while Chazz shouted out
"Duel" while Jaden yelled "It's time to duel" afterwards to begin the duel.
"I'll go first," Chazz said as he drew his card. "I summon Reborn Zombie in defense mode and then place one card facedown and end my turn," Chazz said as he placed a card facedown. Duels contain the element of luck as long as there's drawing. However, what decides a match is a strategy based on careful calculations. Chazz thought as he looked at Jaden with a small smirk on his face. "Obelisk Blue against Ra Yellow," He began, "The difference in our intellect has already determined the outcome of this!" Syrus gasped at that as Jaden looked at Chazz with a serious expression on her face.
"I couldn't agree more, but still you cannot play a duel in your head" Jaden said. "My blazing heart will take you on! It's my turn, draw," Elemental Hero Avian, She thought staring into her hand and finding the cards she needed as well as a certain one that was given to her. Time to show him the truth of why no one will be as good as my dad was, she thought looking at the little adorable brown fur ball with wings she called partner, Winged Kuriboh, who responded with a small 'Kuri Kuri.'
"I play Polymerization." Chazz ceased his smirking as he stated at Jaden questioningly at who he was going to fuse. Jaden held up a pair of cards in her hands as if answering Chazz's question. "I fuse Elemental Heroes Avian and Burstinatrix to summon Elemental Hero Flame wingman in attack mode!" She finished as her monster appeared on the field.
"I've caught you already, it seems" Chazz smirked.
"Not really, I activate the spell card R - Righteous Justice. Since I have one Elemental Hero on the field, I can destroy one spell or trap card you control, so bye-bye," She said as Chazz's Chthonian Polymer was destroyed.
"Chthonian Polymer" Syrus asked as he looked at the destroyed card going through his head to remember what it did.
"Its basic knowledge to a duelist," A voice interrupted him as Syrus turned around and saw Alexis walking up to him,
"A-Alexis," He said.
"Alexis is right. You overanalyzed my deck in my entry exam duel, Chazz." Jaden smirked.
"Duels are not all about brains and if they were, you still seem to lack one," She continued as Alexis giggled at that, but Syrus looked at her confused.
"Sy, Chthonian Polymer allows you, when your opponent summons a fusion monster, to gain control of that monster by sacrificing one monster on your field to do so. Chazz was going to sacrifice his Reborn Zombie to do that. He knew that a fusion monster finished Crowler off in my duel with him so he had that trap set," Jaden shook her head with a frown on her face.
"Can't believe you expected me to walk right into it. You really are a typical snobbish Obelisk" Jaden said as she looked at her hand again as Chazz frowned. Unfortunately for him, since Flame Wingman was a special summon, Jaden was still able to normal summon this turn.
"I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in attack mode and that'll do." She said as she entered her turn as Chazz frowned.
"I summon Chthonian Soldier in attack mode," Chazz said as he then changed Reborn Zombie into defense mode.
"It's your turn," He growled as Jaden smiled. "Alright, Sparkman, go Spark flash," Jaden ordered as Sparkman charged up his right arm and shot out an electrical beam at Chthonian Soldier, destroying it and knocking down Chazz's life points to 3600. However a sword emerged from the smoke the explosion carded and dived down towards Jaden, going through the girl knocking her life points down to 3600 as well.
Jaden held her chest in pain from the attack with Chazz smirking at her. "It's my monsters effect. Chthonian Soldier deals the same damage its player took to the opposing play when it's destroyed." He said.
"Aniki," Syrus cried out as Alexis blinked and gave a small smirk.
"Your big brother is mighty spirited, but pretty careless to just disregard a monster effect like that." She said as Syrus looked at her. "Jaden isn't my real brother," He started as Alexis blinked and looked at Syrus. "How can you put it?" Syrus asked himself as he tried to find the words he wanted. "Well, he's my 'spiritual brother'." He finished as Alexis blinked again and looked at Jaden, a small smile forming on her lips. Is that so, she thought.
"Flame Wingman, go flame shot," Jaden ordered as Flame Wingman attacked Reborn Zombie and destroyed it while knocking Chazz's life points down to 2600.
"That's my Aniki for you," Syrus praised with a smile.
"He's pretty good, huh?" Alexis said with interest as she looked at Jaden.
"You're so cool, Aniki!" Syrus exclaimed as he threw his fist into the air. Jaden gave Syrus a Victory sign as Alexis laughed a bit, "Don't push your luck."
"Why you…Don't get too ahead of yourself there, you freaking Ra yellow dropout. I activate the spell card Chthonian Blast." Immediately a fire blast came from the card as it destroyed Flame Wingman and knocked Jaden's life points down to 2550."
During that same turn, Chazz also activated the trap card Call of the Haunted making him able to bring back Chthonian Soldier only for him to sacrifice him to summon out Mefist the Infernal General. However, even Chazz knew that this duel was far from done, but he knew he would win and had to rub it in.
"One way or the other, it appears I've clinched my win," Chazz said smirking afterwards. "And according to the Ante Rule, I'll take your best card!"
"We'll see about that," Jaden said as she laughed quietly.
"What?" Chazz asked, his smirk returning as he realized the outcome. "A duel is determined with 99% intelligence with luck playing its part a mere 1%."
Uncle Joey would love to prove you wrong, Jaden thought as she looked at her cards as she heard a 'Kuri Kuri' call out to him. She held her Winged Kuriboh in her hand and smiled. "Yeah, I know, partner," Jaden said earning a wink from the small fur ball.
"I'll risk it all on that 1%, my draw will call out a miracle!" Reaching for her deck, Jaden drew a card and looked at it, giving out a small "Alright" in victory. However, before Jaden could play it, Elemental HERO Lady Heat appeared next to her. 'Jaden, the security guards are coming.' Immediately her eyes widened, "The security guards are coming!" She cried, "With the Ante Rule being forbidden by school regulations and using a facility after hours. We have to leave before we get expelled," She said.
"What?" Chazz asked.
"Haven't you read the student's rules on your Student Personal Planner?" Alexis asked as she took out a small pamphlet and held it up.
"Chazz, this is bad," The dopey one said as Chazz scowled and turned about ready to make his way out.
"That's enough for tonight. You've shown me how capable you are." With that he jumped off the platform when he and Jaden had been dueling on with a somewhat satisfied smirk. "Apparently, your entry exam was just dumb luck."
"Really, because I drew Monster Reborn" Jaden growled out as everyone turned to see the card in her hand. At that everyone realized that Jaden would have summoned Flame Wingman from the grave and ordered an attack that would have destroyed Mefist the Infernal General causing Chazz to lose all his life points which would have made Jaden the winner.
"So in the end, I won, but keep your card, Chazz. I have no need and wouldn't have wanted it either way," With that Jaden jumped off the platform and walked over to Syrus and Alexis just as Chazz left in a huff with his group, both of which were shocked by what Jaden had said.
"They're going to find us," Syrus cried as Alexis looked around and motioned at the Slifer red and Ra Yellow to follow her.
"Come on, this way," She said as Syrus and Jaden nodded and ran after her. A few moments later, three security guards walked into the darkened room and looked around, only to find it completely empty.
Meanwhile, outside the main Academy building, Alexis stopped and looked back. She sighed at the sight of Syrus having to push Jaden, having done it to get the rebellious Ra Yellow out of the duel field since she had wanted Chazz to react in some way to the idea that she would have won that duel and didn't like the response she did get.
"For crying out loud, you're quite the hassle, aren't you?" Alexis asked after leaning back onto the wall.
"Tsk, I don't need your opinion," Jaden said turning away from the Obelisk Blue.
"Thank you, Alexis," Syrus said as he looked out from behind Jaden, smiling at Alexis.
"So how did that harsh ordeal from Obelisk Blue feel?" Alexis asked as Jaden closed her eyes.
"Harsh is a little strong I think, but it was ok. It was what I expected from an Obelisk Blue, too full of himself and easy to defeat. I would have won anyway if it wasn't for those security officers coming towards us." With that, Jaden began to walk away with Syrus trailing after her, not wanting to be left behind. Alexis could only nod at what Jaden had said as she stared at the girl. That girl is pretty interesting, she thought with a smile forming on her lips. Jaden looked at her side and smiled at Syrus.
"I think I'll stay in your room for the moment, Sy. The Ra yellow dorm isn't that nice or as roomy," She said as Syrus sweat-faulted at her, but he was happy that his Aniki would be staying with him. He smiled at that as the two continued on their way to the Slifer red Dorms.
They were half way there when Jaden sensed something that was very familiar to her and very close by. It even caused her Millennium Armband to glow for a second. She turned to Syrus quickly, "You go on ahead. Tell Professor Banner that I have to deal with something first," She ordered before jogging towards the source.
When she got to the spot, she felt a surge of shock rip through her, because sitting there on the ground was the spiritless Millennium Puzzle. Jaden stumbled backwards with her hand flying to her mouth as she choked back a scream of shock.
Immediately Avian formed himself in the Human world as he gently picked up the Puzzle. 'There is a note, Jaden,' He whispered as Jaden's eyes filled with tears as Avian stood up, the Puzzle dangling from its chain in his hands. She held out her hands slowly, her brown eyes wide and filled with a mixture of fear and anticipation. 'The letter said that "'Soon I and the Princess of Games will have to duel for their souls to see if she's worthy of her father's title." Jaden, you're not safe here anymore,' Avian said as Jaden stood there frozen for a minute before she started walking in random directions with Avian and Winged Kuriboh following her as they ended up in the forest.
Elemental Hero Ocean appeared to block the rain that had begun to fall, but the young girl barely noticed as she started to sob violently. Why was it every time she thought that she could have some peace in a normal place there had to be something that brought it all crashing back down?
Her father had disappeared eight years ago, but she could still remember the moment like it was just yesterday, the time after that however was a blur. She could vaguely remember someone finding her and taking her home, but not much else. Jaden had been catatonic for nearly a month before she'd started to get better and occasionally things happened that brought her close to the edge again and at the moment, she felt like she was falling.
She'd been so desperate to save her dad for so long, but what if she failed and why did the person want to duel her in particular, was it connected to why her dad was taken? Those thoughts kept spiraling through her head as she sat in the middle of a small clearing in the pouring rain. In the back of her mind, she could Haou walking towards her, I think I should take over before we get a cold she said with a frown since she knew how bad Jaden could get. Alright, Jaden said back as a golden aura came to her body as it became taller, fuller and her Ra yellow jacket was wore as a cloak. Her eyes were now golden and demonic and a sadistic smile was on her face and her eyes were sharper. However, that look vanished when she looked down at her father's Puzzle.
"I will find you dad, no matter where you are, but I can't get sick looking for you," Haou said in a sharp voice as she nodded to Elemental Hero Ocean in thanks and began her way towards the Slifer Red dorms allowing her duel spirits to vanish as she did.
Banner was sitting on the ground as Chumley, still in his bed, listened to the professor finishing answering his question.
"And that's why Jaden isn't going to be your roommate for very long." Banner finished as Chumley nodded.
"So, Jaden's getting a separate room in a few weeks," He said. I never would've guessed. He thought,
"Yes, the same will be happening to the Ra yellow dorms since it would seem that someone changed Mr. Kaiba's opinion of female duelists," Banner said as he then turned his head after hearing the door close. Standing by the door was Syrus, back from the duel.
"How did it go and where is Jaden?" Banner asked.
"The duel was interrupted by security guards, so the duel didn't necessarily finish, but Aniki would have won the duel. He said that he had something to do before coming back here, so he should be back soon," He said as Banner nodded. However, just then a bolt of lightning passed right past the dorm as Banner's cat screeched in fear in Banner's arms. After that, everyone heard the light sound of rain pouring down on them. Banner frowned at that as he looked over at Syrus and Chumley, who were both hiding from the lightning and thunder.
"I'll remain here until Jaden returns. If he doesn't in the next half an hour, I'll call the Chancellor," He said as Syrus frowned in worry as he looked out the window hoping that Jaden was ok. It was just then that the door opened again and Jaden, in her original form, came walking in with her Millennium Puzzle in her hands.
"Aniki, are you ok?" Syrus asked looking down as Jaden just walked past him with her eyes locked on the puzzle, but she didn't answer his question at all. It looked like she hadn't noticed any of them actually.
"Aniki, are you ok… Isn't that the necklace Yugi Muto always wore?" He asked innocently after seeing the puzzle in Jaden's hands. At that a choking sob came from Jaden before she took a deep breath before smoothly lying,
"No, it's a replica and I'm ok. It's pretty cool, huh?" She forced herself to sound excited as Syrus nodded,
"Yeah," He nodded, but then frowned,
"Where were you anywhere, Aniki?" He asked as Jaden bit her lip as she looked away.
"I can't tell you, but you shouldn't worry if I randomly have to disappear. I'm so sorry Sy, but there was something I really had to do," She told him, trying to push down the wave of guilt and everything else that she was feeling. She had taken control from Haou before they came into sight of the Slifer Red dorms because she wasn't willing to let anyone see Haou yet since it would cause too many questions that she and Haou weren't ready to answer.
"So have you told him yet?" Professor Banner asked Jaden as Syrus blinked owlishly confused to what the professor was talking about. Chumley, seeing the younger boy's perplexed look, decided to help him out and explain it to him,
"Even though Jaden is a Ra Yellow, he will be our roommate, but it won't be for very long,"
"Eh! Why not" Syrus yelled after his eyes widened as he looked at jade concerned for the second time that night.
"Relax, Syrus. I'm just getting a separate room in a few weeks! It's not like I'm switching dorms or anything."
"Oh, I see. I almost thought Aniki was leaving," Syrus sighed just before he yelped after Jaden slapped him on the back, though she unintentionally did it roughly.
"Like I would ever leave this dorm" Jaden said after Syrus looked at her.
"That's the understatement of the century. You know I could never leave now that I've made friends." She said smiling at Syrus who started to laugh a bit. Banner smiled and adjusted his glasses before ruffling Jaden's hair to get her attention.
"Now to discuss your current rooming," Banner began as Jaden looked up at him, "If you'd like, I'll switch rooms with you for the time being until your room is ready."
"That's ok," Jaden said. "This room has already grown on me a bit, but thanks anyway," She finished with a smile.
"Very well, I'll leave you be," Banner began as he opened the door, but then looked back at the three, "I'll see you three in class later today and by the way, you might want to go to bed now. Its half past two and classes being in the morning," With that the professor left the room, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
Chumley rolled into a comfortable position in his bed while Syrus took off his shoes while Jaden kicked hers off and dashed over to the bunk beds. This is after she took off her duel disk and belt that held her decks.
"I call bottom," She said before diving into the bottom bunk bed, but Syrus noticed that her voice was almost empty and dull. Once Jaden got into the bed, she closed her eyes and hugged her dad's Millennium Puzzle to her chest as if it was the only thing keeping her alive. Syrus had noticed it and arched an eye-brow at her, but decided to wait for another time to ask his roommate about it later when he was feeling better.
He just sighed and turned off the lights before walking over to the bunk beds. As he climbed up the ladder to get into the middle bunk bed, which now belonged to him, he looked down at Jaden, who was already fast asleep, but he could tell that he was lightly crying in his sleep.
Something must have happened, but I'll ask later when he's feeling better It has something to do with that necklace, but it isn't real, is it? Syrus thought to himself before shaking his head. Even if it is, Jaden isn't related to Yugi Muto and wouldn't have been able to actually get his necklace, He finished thinking as he smiled and then whispering a "goodnight" and got into bed. As he was beginning to fall asleep, another question popped into his mind.
Why does Aniki need a separate room? He asked himself before shrugging and falling to sleep.
