Chapter 4

All Ours:

November 2, 2015 at 8:36 p.m. Noah Jay Herondale was born weighing 6.5lbs and 18inches long.

November 2, 2015 at 8:39 p.m. Ethan Michael Herondale was born weighing 5.9lbs and 18inches long.

Because Ethan and Noah were born premature, the doctors had them stay at the hospital for about a week to make sure they were both growing at a healthy pace, and when those seven days were up we could take them home with us. In that short time span, Jace had managed to set up another crib in the nursery, as well as get double the supplies, but even so that week felt like a lifetime to me. I had been so used to having my babies with me 24/7, safetly tucked away in my tummy, and now that they were out in the world it scared me so much. I couldn't imagine what would happen if something bad were to happen to one of them, but there was no way in hell I'd even allow a chance of that happening.

Noah was a spirited child, he was so much like his father. I knew right away that he would be a handful growing up, especially since he already found ways to cause trouble. Noah would cry all through the night, and there was only one way to get him to stop. Jace. All Jace had to do was sing to him, hum even, and he would stop within seconds.

Ethan; however, was Noah's polar opposite. Ethan was a calm baby and would sleep just fine, and take his feedings without a fuss. Every now and then he would cry out, but just like his brother, the solution was fairly simple. All he wanted was for me to hold him. It never worked when Jace held him, nor Cecily who stayed with us throughout the week the boys were in the hospital. All I had to do was gently hold him to my chest and sway back and forth, and within a minute his cries would fade to the deep breaths of sleep.

This had all been three months ago, and winter was now in full swing. School had been canceled due to the heavy snow that trapped everyone in their houses, which meant that Jace was able to stay home with the boys and me. They had just learned to keep their heads up on their own, and were starting to be more active and less sleepy. It surprised me just how fast they were growing, and every time I thought of this memories of my parents would creep up to haunt me.

I just wished they could at least know about their grandchildren. Maybe we could find a way to send them a picture, the angel knows how many Jace has taken of them, but I know this to be impossible. Everyone back home believes that we are dead, everyone except for Magnus and Raphael. That was the only way for the plan to work. The people who had gotten us out, had faked our deaths, so well that even to Clave believed us to be dead. Word of our memorial ceremonies had spread within a week of us being here. It was depressing, and every time I found myself alone I allowed the tears to escape. I wouldn't, couldn't let Jace know about this. It wouldn't help me to see him upset too, this was just something I had to do on my own.

"Clary!" Jace yelled as he ran into the kitchen, I had been preparing lunch for us. "What, what happened?" I asked, already running into the living room next door. "Look! Look what he's doing," Jace said excitedly as he followed me. My racing heart slowed back down and my earlier panic faded when I saw that Ethan and Noah were fine. A large smile formed on my face; however, when I took in the actions of Noah. He had started to lift his upper body up with his chubby, little arms. He fell back down the first few times, but after a while he got the hang of it and was able to lift himself up and stare at Jace and me with his wide, toothless grin.

Jace had walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist while all of this had happened, and was now resting his chin atop my head. "They're growing up so fast," he whispered just what I had been thinking, "they take after you, you know?" I laughed at that because of all the similarities the boys shared with their father. Noah had curling, strawberry blonde hair, a tan complexion, and gold eyes. Even his grin was his father's. Ethan had the same curly, strawberry blonde hair, a lighter complexion than his brother, and bright green eyes with gold flecks.

"Really! They do, they have your nose," he said as he reached forward and poked my nose, " and they have your hair, well a lighter version of it," he laughed as he played with a strand of my bright red hair, "Ethan even has your eyes." I leaned back into his chest as I looked down at the boys, "They both have your smile, and Noah acts so much like you." "Oh, so you're saying I'm toothless!?" He laughed as he pulled me closer, tickling my sides. "No," I said laughing and out of breath, "That's not what I meant at all!" "Sure you didn't," Jace laughed as he stopped his assaults and spin me around so that I could see his face. He had that grin that I fell in love with in place, and his golden eyes shone brightly.

He rested his forehead on mine before speaking again, "They are amazing, both of them, and they're all ours. We made them, Clary. Can you believe that!" He smiled before placing a quick kiss on my lips and then headed over to join the boys.

Author's Note: hey guys! What do you think of the boys so far, did you like the names and the decision on having two boys? The story should be picking up soon, I just don't want to rush into anything too soon that way you guys can get a feel for the characters now that things have changed, also I apologize for the time skips, but I thought it would be a bit boring with new born babies. If you guys would like I could write a chapter with their Christmas in it, but if not I'll just keep going. Anyways, thank you for reading and I love all of you guys! Bye!
