Hey everyone, I hope you all are doing well! Finally, the next chapter! Hope you are enjoying the winter. I know I am.
It was splendor. I didn't know how else to decide it. I could see the outline of her shadow and it made me tremble. She was so close. So unbelievably close. I could reach out my hand and touch her. Unfortunately, she had the trait of a deer when even the slightest movement could rush her away. It made her even more fragile and that much more frustrating. I tried to find away to bring up everything, anything, but it's becoming more difficult as I laid here watching her beauty move under the covers. I groaned internally.
I closed my eyes and in my dreams, I ushered her home in my arms where she belonged.
*Flashback*
It was a moment of deliberation when I found myself at the airport. Oh how I wanted to hop on a plane and see paradise somewhere else. There was something holding me back, something that was digging into my skin. I felt my phone ring and I pulled it out of my pocket. It's my brother Pete. I hit the ignore button, knowing the longer I put it off the more consistent he will bother. Another moment later, breaking through my thoughts was yet another phone call. Pete. I sighed and picked up the phone. "Hey man," Before he even spoke I heard the tone of his voice. "Okay, what is going on man? You trying to run away again?" I rolled my eyes. In the back of my mind I knew he was right, but I was never going to admit that. "No..." my distant voice brought back the image of Pam's face and I felt my heart break all over again.
"I'm going to need you to be a little more specific." His impatience testing my nerves. "I don't know man; she's under a lot right now." He scoffs. "Under a lot of what? Men?" The anger built up in my mind was ready to fight. "Don't talk about Pam like that!" "Whoa, hey man, I'm just pulling your chain." I felt my teeth grind. "I'm really not in the mood Pete." A soft chuckle. "Alright, using names, now I know it's serious." Hard sigh. "Okay seriously, Jim. You need to stop giving up on her." Those words flew through me as a bit of shock. "I'm sorry what?" I could feel him nodding. "Yeah, you need to go to her, kiss her senseless and show her that you are what she needs." I wasn't even sure if I was what she needed. "I really don't thinkā¦" "Okay, so you're a chicken. Got it." I felt a smile tug at the corners of my lips. Just before I could say something I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it away from my ear for a moment to see Pam calling. Was I seeing things? I didn't say anything to Pete as I switched over to Pam. "Hello?" I tried to keep my composure.
"Jim.." Her voice felt like heaven in my ears. "Pam.." I sighed her name and suddenly everything was forgotten.
*End of Flashback*
"Are you feeling breakfast?" I whispered to her in the morning light. I didn't want to break the essence that was drifting around us. She smiled briefly and it felt like we were on the same page. She was fairly quiet and I wasn't sure if I needed to worry or not. She grinned and then went into the bathroom. I smiled and threw on my clothes before she got out. The door opened too quickly however when my shirt was barely above my head and my the cool air hugged my back. As if I were looking at her I felt her stop. I apologized before I turned around. There was something about her eyes that glowed. My face turned red and she turned towards the window. "Are you ready?" she asked so politely. It was so cute. I let out a chuckle and she turned to me. "Yes, I am ready." I'm pretty sure my eyes glowed too.
After breakfast, we wandered down the ocean line. We ended up in Ocean City, New Jersey. She had always talked about how her and her family had taken annual trips here. I could see something incredible in the way she moved, it made me feel like I was in a Nicholas Sparks novel. I have to say manliness aside, it wasn't the worst. "I could see my bringing my kids here." My eyebrows danced. I wasn't sure how to react. I let the ramblings commence "I mean who wouldn't? It's beautiful here. I could always see their dad and I just holding the kid's hands and swinging them between us." Her cheeks turned pink. "Pretty dorky huh?" I grinned. "I like dorky." Her eyes met mine in a battle. The intensity is breathtaking. I turned my face, looking onward. "You know if I had kids I would bring a surfboard and show them how it's done." She laughed and said, "You mean you'll show them how they are not supposed to do it." The shock on my face turned to complete love when she spoke, "Safety first Jim, safety first."
My heart grew ten times the size. Yeah, now that was dorky.
