Disclaimer: Hellsing belongs Kouta Hirano. Geneon also, I think. There's no other propose in this story out of wishing their characters would have more adventures.

(Re) Building an Empire

Five Months

"Good night, Master" Seras burst in her neighbour crypt, a bucket with water in one hand, duster in the other, a broom and mop resting between her shoulder and neck. She was wearing baggy denim pants, a grey undershirt concealing her attributes and pale blue shirt covering her torso. Black leather boots for the last touch of the outfit. "It's time for your monthly cleaning."

She left the bucket on the floor for leaning over the back coffin. Some strokes with the duster over the surface, and she was talking by herself again.

"Rest calm Master for I am taking care of your most precious possession." She grabbed the piece of floor lying on the top where Alucard's seal rested drawn with blood. She had found it among one of her rescuing missions, and she was happy for having taken it with her.

The duster removed any trace of dust gently. By removing the lid Seras went over the white linen with a clean wet cloth. Doing the task she never stopped talking cheerfully, telling her Master the most recent events. It had been a fuss what happened with those german kids that Duke and she accidentally killed while destroying the last remnants of Millenium; she was sure Alucard would never approve what Integra did aftermath. He'd rather tear off the consul before letting his master to apologize. Sir Irons was severe with their Master, he gave her a time limit of six months to move out of his mansion. He was very disappointed because Integra had let Duke enter the house. But Duke is very determined to stay, he has been working in a new style of sealing vampires, apparently it's not necessary the blood bond. Master wouldn't liked it, for making the vampires vulnerable to anyone with the program needed, and because it resembles a lot to what Millenium was doing with the chip vampires. Even so it was very interesting how technology was advancing this fast.

Seras stood up to remove cobwebs from the corners. The new troops had arrived just one week ago, and now she was addressed as Captain Seras Victoria. No more 'Police Girl', what would Master think of that? They still were terrified of her, not even trying to hide her condition. At least there are some known faces in the barracks. It has been a pleasure to work with Aiden, Julius, Morris and Emmanuel. Excellent soldiers that accepted a contract renewal with Hellsing. For now Emmanuel is working in the infirmary, he would love to join the battle but his lost leg is a problem. Besides there haven't been many vampires recently. Her job had turned more like rescuing missions and volunteering. She knows it's not fitting for a prideful vampire, but she really liked to help people, as weird as it sounded.

Once finished, she started brooming. She continued her ramble. Duke was a good guy. Integra called him odd vampire; Master wouldn't be pleased that up until some weeks ago his childe hadn't slept on his coffin for centuries. No wonder he looked so ill when she met him. At first he had said he didn't care for his coffin, but when Sir Integra ordered for it, it turned out that Duke had not slept in it but on, and he had been taking care of the precious possession that his sire had gave him centuries ago. Duke would never admit it but he's fond to Master, so she would love to both set their differences aside and make up.

The Draculina picked the dust and continued with mopping. Sir Integra missed Master so much. Sometimes Seras had seen her staring at the moon with sad eyes, then her boss notices her and while turning the draculina knows she had been taken for Master, when Integra's momentary joy turns down. Both talk a lot about Master... a lot. Like neither of them wants to let the memory fade out. Sometimes Walter is mentioned, and the memory of his treason led both in an awkward silence. Anyway the butler deserves some respect, Seras has resolved to think he died of old age and that horrible image of him turned a vampire was nothing but a bad dream.

Before closing the lid, she kneeled beside the coffin pulling air into her lungs. Master's aroma lingering on the linen. She closed it. Seras never thanked Master for shooting her in Cheddar. She wondered, she had alive, if she would continue working in the task force, probably would find a boyfriend; maybe not. She would had to stand her partners harassment. She would continued returning home to an empty apartment. Now she had a family, sort of. Integra was a caring friend, her personality had gone more easy going as days pass by; Duke was truly a brother, mocking of her but protective when the situation needed it; Pip was always with her, making her feel wiser everyday. And even with that dim bond she had, Master was there, reassuring her that eternity was not as frightening as people is prone to think.

"Master, please don't delay in returning."

Seras stood up. Picking up the cleaning implements she sighted. The basement room was clean. She knew Master care less about dust but it was her silly lonely moment for talking to him. Before closing the heavy metallic door behind her she peeked in back.

"And Master, if you happen to return soon, can you tell Duke to stop calling me Captain Tomboy? I already cut him in half twice but it looks like he's even more amused for it!"

Author's Note: I know it's short D: Next one happens some months later, so I decided to respect the time order given to the chapters.
