Chapter Thirty-Eight

~ Death the Kid ~

"Here," I smiled softly, wrapping a blanket around the trembling shoulders of the blonde haired girl before me.

She sat up in my bed, covered in hoodies and blankets, her eyes drooping every few seconds as she tried her utter hardest to keep them open.

"Hey," I chuckled, placing my palm against her cheek. "It's okay to fall asleep."

Her eyes glistened as she stared helplessly up towards me, the moon that still sat powerfully in the blackening sky seeping through the curtains and beaming against her bright green irises.

I remembered the first time I stared into those eyes of hers. The way she reacted to the concern I had towards her, her shocked and tear stained green eyes staring towards me, before darting off of the bus as fast as she possibly could.

Slowly, I moved my palm from her soft and rosy cheek, and slid the tips of my fingers to her delicate jaw line, where she allowed my thumb to brush carefully at her fragile and cracked lips.

My eyes were fixated with them, fixated by the way they managed to remain perfectly lustful despite everything they had been through.

And with every brush of my thumb that I continued press against them, I sat there wondering how much pressure they could actually handle.

"Kid," she whispered.

Despite my urge to kiss her, I looked from her lips and up to her sparkling eyes.

"I realise now, that I never said it back..."

I continued to stare into those utterly perfect emeralds that softly stared back up at me also.

My heart began to stammer, as if it was trying race towards her itself, and hold her in its veins.

She smiled, "I love you too."

I grabbed her tightly, and squeezed her body against mine, placing my palm against the back of her head and pressing her head into my shoulder.

I held her like my body shielded over her, so she was sure to know that despite what happened, I would never let her go, and I would always love her.
