~Going back in time~
POV: Taniyama Mai
"Big sister? Wake up," a voice echoes inside my head.
I slowly opened my eyes, 'W-What happened to me? ...I remember running to catch up with Masako and then...'
~Flashback~
"Masako! Wait up!" I said, running toward Masako.
"What do you want from me?" she said, once I catch up with her.
"I just thought you want some company… going out?" I smiled.
"Hmph, your little posture of fake kindness won't work with me."
"W-What are you talking about?"
"Forget it. If you want to company me out then I guess you can tag along," she sigh.
'What a brat…!' I thought annoyed.
*Flash* (The electricity went out)
"W-Wah! *Boom*" I stumble to the ground, 'Ouch! How embarrassing! Sigh, I wasn't the type of person who's clumsy...' I look up at ceiling.
"The lights in the hallway isn't working, it seems," Masako said.
"It can't be help..." I sigh, "I'll return with a flashlight…" I get up and start to walk back to the base.
"Stop," I heard Masako whispered.
I stop walking and turn back around, "Is there something wrong, Masako?"
"Don't move, Taniyama," she grab my sweater, "Don't go wandering off."
"Uh- Okay, why?"
Masako looked at me annoyingly, "You ask too much question. No wonder, Shibuya-san calls you stupid."
"I'm not stupid… Maybe a little…" I said, doubtful.
Masako look around the hallway and closed her eyes, "...I sense an evil spirit just when the lights turn off."
'Then, again… Maybe I'm just narrow-minded?' I thought.
"Taniyama…"
'Maybe- no! It can't-'
"Taniyama! Are even listening to me?!" Masako said, angrily.
"S-Sorry!" I laugh.
Masako glare at me, "You… You not taking this seriously are you?"
"Pardon?" I felt a little chill behind my back.
"Forget it! You won't understand even if I did explain our solution right now!"
"Sheesh! If you are so worried about something bad going to happened. Then, why don't we go back to the base where everyone is?" I point my fingers behind me.
Masako shake her head, "Why don't you look behind you?"
I look behind, "What the! Why is there a wall here?!"
"Well, at least we're still in the second floor," Masako said look out the window.
I hurriedly joined her by the window and look outside, 'It's true but… how did we get here of all places?!'
OH, BIG SISTER! COME OVER HERE! *Voice of a little boy*
I jumped a little when a little boy's voice call out of nowhere.
(Laugh) *Voice of a child*
Both of Masako and me turn toward where a little boy waving his hand toward both of us to come this way.
'Ah, isn't that…? The little boy from earlier in the day?' I thought strangely, "Hey, what are you doing here?" I start to walk toward the little boy.
"W-Wait! Taniyama, he isn't-" Masako said.
*Boom!*
I turn around and saw Masako on the ground.
"Masako? Hey, what happened to you?!" I run toward Masako's side.
Masako look up toward me with a determination-look and start to move her lip, but she could barely complete a single word out of her mouth, "R-Ru...n! T-Ta-uh! Yama!" Both of Masako's hands suddenly moved toward her throat and she start to strangle herself.
"W-Wait! What are you doing, Masako?!" I grab both of Masako's hand and tried to get her hands off her throat.
HEHEHE! SHE'S STRUGGLING TO BREATH! STRUGGLING TO BREATH! *The little boy repeat over and over again*
I turned around and faced the little boy.
"Stop it! That isn't something you should be laughing about!" I yell at him.
He look down at the floor with a frown for a moment and started to laugh again. He look up at me and had a evil smile.
WHY? BIG SISTER'S FRIEND IS GOING TO JOIN US!
He laugh out loud more despicable.
'This child!' I thought, 'There's something wrong with him!'
Masako's hand came off her neck and grab my arm.
"Run! We must get out of here!" Masako said, coughing and struggling to breath.
"Wait! What about the others?!"
"Don't worry about them! We need to get away from him now!"
As we run away from the little boy, I couldn't help but look back. Surprisingly, there was a man standing laughing.
'Where did the little boy go?' I thought.
YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE! HEHEHE! *Man's voice*
I turn back around and tried to understand what just happened.
'Really, I don't understand anything!' I shake my head.
"T-Taniyama, listen! We need to get to the stairs!" Masako's hand let go of arm.
"O-Okay," I said, as we run side by side.
ONE, TWO, THREE! I FOUND YOU! HEHEHE! *Man's voice*
The man I saw back in the hallway suddenly appeared in front of us. He reach for me when suddenly I heard Naru's voice inside my mind, 'Close your eyes and stay relax…' I look around for Masako but she wasn't there anywhere.
"M-Masako? Where had you gone to?" I yell, as the hand of the man came closer and closer.
'Mai… Close your eyes and stay relax…' Naru's voice echoes inside my head again.
I closed my eyes tightly and relax… Breathing in and breathing out. Then it became quiet.
*Loud Slap*
I opened my eyes and saw Masako next to me. And felt a sting on my face.
"Hey, are you okay?" She ask me.
"I-I think I'm okay, except for my stinging face…" I frowned.
"I'm not sorry for slapping your face," she said, snapping her head away.
I stand up and look confused, "What happened to that man?"
"What man?"
"You know- Huh?" I look around and noticed that we were only a couple of class away from the base, 'How is that possible?!'
"You remember when the hallway lights turned off? You suddenly fainted and start having some kind of nightmare," she said.
'I hope it was a nightmare… Especially, when it felt so, so real...' I sigh.
"I think you should return back… I can take care of myself, not like you in this case."
"N-No! I'm fine!" Both of us stand up, "Besides, I think walking alone at night is dangerous."
"…Fine, just don't faint again. It's annoying to babysit you."
"Yes, sorry," Mai said, annoyed, 'I should have just let her go by herself!'
We walk through the hallway and look around cautiously.
"What's with you?" Masako notice me looking around intensely.
"N-Nothing… I was just thinking how it's -uh… Different how- the old school building looks at night!" I laugh awkwardly.
Masako turn her head forward and covered her mouth with her kimono, "What a weirdo…" she sigh.
I continued to laugh awkwardly and scratch the back of my head, 'I guess it was just a dream?'
Then, suddenly Masako stopped.
"What's wrong?" I ask Masako, who just stare forward.
I look where she was looking at and saw a high school girl by the staircase. She was wearing a uniform of the school. Masako came toward her and reach her hands toward her.
"It is okay. Let me help you," Masako said, with a kind tone.
The girl look at her afraid. Masako again tried to comfort her with a bright and warm smile on her face. Then, the girl's scared eye's became calm and relaxed and suddenly she smiled.
"Thank you, miss..." She smiled.
Masako whispered some words to her and she nod in agreement. The girl stand up and slowly she sparkled and disappeared.
"M-Masako! What just happened?" I ask after the girl disappeared.
"She went to the light. That's all."
"The light? *Pause* Oh, I see!" I smiled.
"Let's go then-" Masako drop to her kneel.
"Hey, Masako are you okay?" I walk toward her.
I grab her by the shoulder and suddenly I was somewhere else. Then, memories which doesn't belong to me start to rash in my head.
~Memories rushing through Mai's mind~
"No! You can't! Jiro, listen to me for once!" A familiar female voice said, "Please let her go! Keli, is dead! She won't be safe if-!"
"No! She isn't dead! She's alive! Kimo, she's alive!" another familiar male voice said, "Sorry… Kimo."
"Jiro, please… Don't- Don't!" She screamed.
The man named, Jiro came rushing toward her and he stab her with a sharp hand knife. She struggled to turn around and tried to run for the door but stop when she saw a little boy blocking the doorway.
"L-Lucio?! What are you doing here? Run away from here! Now!" She painfully screamed.
He stand by the door unsure. The man inside the classroom came run toward the door and grab the little boy by the neck and thrown him toward her.
"Sister… Your chest is red!" the boy said.
"Run…"
"What?"
"Lucio, you heard me! Run!"
The girl run toward the man and struggled with him. The boy turn around and start to run away. *Boom!* The sound of gun filled the classroom. The girl turned around and saw a red spot on the boy's chest. He drop to the ground and stare at the girl. The man push the girl into the corner of the room. Then, another man came in and start to talk to Jiro. He kick the dead little boy's body and smiled.
"I need to save 'her'. That's what I'm gonna do. This girl's heart match the data Keli needs! And this girls face I'll take it, too. To replace everything… That accident did to her and make Keli perfect!" Jiro said.
"Jiro, stop…" she trembled.
"Tie her up," Jiro said.
"Hehehe, sure thing," the other man said.
Then, Jiro mark Kimo's face and started to cut out of her skin. She screamed in pain.
"Stop…" I screamed, "Stop!" I covered my eyes.
Then, suddenly hearing Masako and myself scream at the tops of our lungs. I came back to the real world and I instantly jump to my feet. I struggled to look for Masako since my eyes were a bit blurry. As I search for Masako, both of my legs suddenly give up on me.
"M-My face… It's gone!" I heard Masako repeat the same words over and over again.
I gently touch my face with my trembling hands and felt liquid falling down my face, 'Why am I crying?'
*A gust of wind*
I turn around and saw a open classroom door. I wipe my face and slowly my vision came back.
MAI… *Voice of someone unknown*
I thought I heard my name being called from the inside that specific classroom. I stand up and slowly walk toward the door.
'M-My imagination… I guess?' I thought, as I turn around to aid Masako.
But then, bunches of hands grab me and pull me inside the classroom.
"Ah! Masako-!" I shout, but my mouth was covered by the hands.
As the hands pulled me back, I watch as the exit gets smaller and smaller until the room was completely dark. The hands let me go and disappeared.
'I-I can't see… I'm scared… I'm alone… Uh… I… can't… breath...' I struggled to move.
~Flashback End~
'Ah! Now I remember!' I opened my eyes and get up. "I was drag inside this classroom and I fainted!" I said, looking around.
"Oh? Has big sister waken up? Good! Why don't we play a game?" a little boy's voice said.
I look to my left and saw a little boy smiling and waving his hand. He started to walk toward me and look up.
"Won't you play with me?"
"I-I don't understand…"
"Oh? Gomenasai, onee-chan! Won't you play a game with me?"
"G-Game? No, I can't. I need to find Masako!"
"...You won't play?"
"Sorry...I need to find Masako."
The little boy didn't say anything and just turn around, "Oh…" He run into the darkest.
'I think I hurt his feeling…' I frowned.
"You will play with me!" the little boy's voice filled the room, "Right?" The little boy appeared in front of me. He touch my forehead and said, "With this you won't say no to anything I say. So close your eyes and sleep a little bit more. And then… We'll play hide-and-seek!" he smiled.
